no worries, bro...good luck in the Consolation Match

His skills of deduction, as well as his situational awareness, are paramount to a face plant in a brick wall

too bad. Ace was the voice of reason here, he should have been the voice and face of UF. That could have gone far. (sorry john, never had the opportunity to speak with you so I can't make any judgements)

Ruling on A Formal Complaint and Breaking of the Rules
Pathogen- replied to John's topic in General Discussion
I really don't understand how I'm fueling the fire, Shane. So far this has been one of the most constructive "drama" threads in UF history....all parties have made well thought out posts and there has been no REAL mudslinging until you make your accusations against me (keeping on with your agenda of disliking me). Everyone here is just stating how they believe in a civilized fashion, and it is truly commendable that they have done so. So you are saying because I know bamboochimp in real life, I control his actions? If that were so why, then, upon his dropping the SHO tag did he not apply for VR? Bamboo is a big boy, he formulates his own mind and opinions. He formed his own clan and website, scrimmaged against us to gauge his small clan's readiness level to participate in the UFGL and then apply for a tournament here in the future. He is on quite a few UF clan websites with introductions, offers for scrimmages, and was committed to bring ROA into the fold. You would have at least agreed with that path, no? -
Ruling on A Formal Complaint and Breaking of the Rules

I just took a long hot shower and reflected over my many years as part of the UF community, and how many times I've rallied against cheaters sullying the name of the tournament. But maybe we are just old fashioned. Maybe we are the Old Guard. I, and a lot of people, come from a history of Socom where clans were truly tight knit, when clan pride meant everything...when you went to battle with the same people day in, day out, and you hosted rooms displaying your banner proudly! But times have changed. Now we've got the Halo style, the COD style gunners who can noob respawn and use advantages in the game, etc etc. We have a diluted pool of honorable players now and maybe this is becoming the norm, the natural progression of online shooting. I feel like Obi-Wan commenting on the light saber as an "elegant weapon, for a more civilized age". I guess kids, and clans these days, are opting for the blaster..looking for the quick and sneaky win. -

lol no, we don't pay to play. But participation and hits on the forums helps google ad sense bring revenue, the number of hits also drives up the price for all the ads everywhere, and the bigger the tournament site gets, the better chance you have to get recognized by Sony as a sponsor, etc. So yeah, 3 rosters suddenly dropping out could very well have an effect on the bottom line, as that is a whole heck of a lot of active people who are soured on the UF experience and are active enough in game and on random forums (such as black ops forums, other clan forums, Sony forums, socom.com, etc etc) to spread the word. So, you are right. We don't pay to play here. And you own the site. But we, as a community, do have a powerful tool available to stand up for what is right, and that is the CHOICE to remain in contention here or not. With out a loyal fanbase, even american idol or jersey shore would slip quietly into that night -
i will take you ALL on...i played it for about 40 mins the other night, so i'm pro!

Ruling on A Formal Complaint and Breaking of the Rules
Pathogen- replied to John's topic in General Discussion
Hush, its not about winning or losing, it is about the moral fiber of the participants rallying together against a bad ruling, a reversing on a rule that is there in black and white and that we all read and agreed to upon entering this tournament. Would this improve chances at winning the tournament for a clan? Sure! Aiel is definitely beatable as some clans have shown. Did they use an unfair advantage in a lot of their wars? Definitely. Hell, they could have squashed you guys at any time but chose to let you hold on until it became advantageous for them to eliminate you...so by your reasoning, since we should stay in because this helps our cause...shouldn't you want them out because it may help yours? lol I'm messing with you on that point, but in all seriousness...some things are worth more than winning to us. 3 clans obviously feel strongly enough about this to poll their rosters, combining what, 90 UF participants, maybe more, to throw away hours of dedication to practices and wars and discussion, in favor of doing the honorable thing? Unfortunately, whomever wins this tournament will have an asterix behind their names, now that 3 of the top 5 clans have bowed out. -

Agreed, Stonewall. Commitment. Like the commitment of having rules and sticking by them and Heat...that was the funniest post I've seen on UF in a hella long time! -
Ruling on A Formal Complaint and Breaking of the Rules
Pathogen- replied to John's topic in General Discussion
of course they don't want to see this, as it effects their bottom line. But the choice here was to ban a small clan who gotcaught cheating and miss on that participation, or uphold the integrity of the league for those already here and the future clans who are looking for what this site once stood for. Now it seems they've lost more than just one cheating clan who've ruined their reputation forever -

So, Gen. Sarcasm, by your own admission you see that they found a clan breaking a rule. Seems pretty black and white by your language...breaking a rule. And since there is oodles of precedent about clans using ringers and being banned from tournament play, do you STILL stand by the directors' decision? lol or were you just being facetious? just curious -

That is their perogative, of course. Its easier to believe that thin claim/excuse when you havent seen the posts/threads and admissions in their own writing -

Pee, I think the point is that half of the mantra of UF is "Win with Honor..." No one is bitching at all, merely taking a moral stance and showing that a lot of the long term members of the community and core group of active posters here believe whole heartedly in UF as a haven for gamers who don't WANT a GB atmosphere, don't want to deal with the hackers, glitchers, ringers, and BS that goes on over there. One thing that we as a community have prided ourselves on is the gap between us and them...and this is a huge thinning of that gap; for a clan of proven ringers, doing whatever they can to win even in a dishonorable fashion, to be allowed to compete is beyond ridiculous..it is a slap in the face to everyone who has supported UF throughout the years and through the change. It is a decision that abandons the core community here. What is ironic, Pee, is that the directors were once leaders of a clan [KO] Known Outlaws...a clan that, along with 101, OGC, BD, and TA took a similar stand in UF3 when one of the former directors of UF cheated to gain advantage for his clan APC (who was also felt to be leading that tournament). The outcome of UF3 was no winner declared, a waste of time for all participants http://www.urgentfury.com/showthread.php/64885-Urgent-Fury-Hall-of-Fame With 2 of the top clans bowing out, this tournament's "victor" would have a very hollow celebration indeed. -
Yeah, lets not carried away with the stiff UF upper lip thing lol Sure, I'm 100percent in agreement that in a UF sanctioned tourney or league war that any form of taunting should be banned. 100percent. But seriously...if I join a friendly clan room and someone I've known for years, say like Vicarious or Nino, is on the other team and I kill them in a funny fashion, you can bet your ass I"m gonna do something silly to them in the name of fun, cammraderie, and good sport. Would I do it to someone that doesn't really know me or my humor? No, probably not. But between friends this can be a hilarious little jab, and it works both ways....cause I could get shot while doing my little dance and getting down tonite, and make the dead body person laugh. Its kind of that whole "guns don't kill people, people kill people" thing. If used correctly and in the right company, its a great and humorous addition. If not, its like teabagging or spinning with the bomb during a defusal...just a taunt from one arrogant faceless person.
