What makes a "GREAT" clan website?

What features have you liked / disliked about other clan sites? If you were going to design the perfect clan site, what info would you include? What pages would there be?

 

I want to compile a list of everything you guys think make a clan site "sweet".

Great art/graphis....but they must all tie into the same theme.....and I enjoy flash

Not a thousand different sections. I hate having to check a bunch of sections....other than that...I like to have things that link me to everything that is related to the site.

P.s. In advance, I'm apologize to anybody that has a army guy on their site. Thats just my opinion, nothing more.....some people like that sort of stuff and to each their own.

For me, it has always been about INFORMATION.

 

There are a lot of clan sites out there that may LOOK slick, but that slickness really doesn't tell you ABOUT the clan. And there are many visitors other than your own clansmen who go and look at these sites, especially now with the UF Directory installed. Solitary gunners who come looking for a great UF clan to join in order to play in the tourney may go to your site.....but besides the very basic (and in my opinion, WAY over-used) "we're a grown up, elite, tactical clan that doesn't cheat," thrown in the text, are you REALLY letting that visitor know WHO or WHAT you really are?

 

It would cut down the guess work on another clan who visits your site with the intentions of having a scrimmage with you, or potentially considering your clan something they'd like to form a friendship with. It would cut down on the guess work that a lone gunner has to go through to figure out if your environment is truly something he/she wants to be a part of. What your website looks like may not directly translate to what your clan is about or the personalities typically found in your clan.

 

Information is always a good thing, and for online gaming, information is priceless.

It's like a summer blockbuster.....it may have great CGI graphics or what not.....but if the STORY sucks, then it's not going to be very memorable.

 

I think that mentality can translate to clan websites as well.

Well from the last time I talked to sniper, which was a couple of days ago, he said he was DONE doing clan websites, he is looking towards bigger and better things to do with his talents(which I understand fully). But I'm sure he wouldn't mind, taking a quick peek and give his opinion, assuming that not every clan starts asking him to take a look at their site now.

 

He told me his going rate now for a site is $2500.00 - $5000.00 also from what I understand he is currently, busy working on a project for some clients at that price. So who knows, if he would even have the time to take a look. The best thing to do is send him a PM and see what he says.

 

 

P.s. If someone does have him build you a website, please tell him that HAVOC sent you, so I can get my commission. Those billboard don't come cheap!

hahaha yeah spelling was not my strong point. Thanks for your guys I am just a noob at this stuff I'm just now starting to learn HTML(a little late i know) It's not got all the flash stuff and graphics that this site and most of yours but i try to get as much information out into the open as possible. If you see anything that would be better another way or anything I'm missing please let me know. Again this is the first time I have ever down a website so it's still a work in progress.

I could hook you up with a tutorial on how to build website with dream Weaver and flash. Its from Digital tutors http://www.digitaltutors.com/store/home.php?cat=1 and its what I built my school website with. http://www.stormwatchanimation.com I know its NOT a Sniper site, but it will get you one hell of a foundation on understanding the concepts and programs and getting you headed in the right direction.
