  1. The original reports were b.s. Sorry if I got anybody hopes up. "Update' date=' April 14 10:32: Sony Computer Entertainment has Tweakers.net indicated that the extension will not be free to download, but an unknown amount will cost. Indicates that the DLC would be free, as mentioned earlier was not from Sony and is not correct." [/b'] thats sucks, hopefully only 9 dollars is all we have to pay $5.99 http://blog.us.playstation.com/

  4. More Patch 1.5 Info Posted by Cindy Bowens Hello, All- I’m glad we were able to share with you last week some of the community requested features that will be included in Patch 1.50. I talked with one of our producers this week and found out about a few more items I wanted to share with you. * Option to Disable D-Pad lean and re-assign left and right directional buttons. * Ladder Climb less audible. * Round timer for 8x8 Medley decreased to 5 minutes. * Picking up the bomb prompt now has priority when a body is on top of the bomb. I know you are all anxious for this patch to be released. As work continues on it, we will update you on its progress. I also found out the answer to another question I have been getting lately. Many have wondered if there was going to be another stat reset with this patch. I learned that at this time, there are no plans for a stat wipe. We hope you continue to enjoy Confrontation as the team continues to work to get Patch 1.5 out to you. We do read the forums and appreciate your feedback and suggestions! 5. A gaming session ended in death on Wednesday, as Clinton Echols allegedly pointed a gun at his fellow sailor and fired it while playing an unspecified military video game. Authorities say that 25-year-old Echols was playing a war video game with fellow sailor Louis Urbana on Wednesday afternoon at a San Carlos, California apartment. Police detectives have determined that at some point during game gameplay, Echols pointed a gun at the 20-year-old Urbana. The gun went off and Urbana was shot. According to the police, Echols did not immediately report the shooting, and by the time help arrived Urbana was beyond saving. Echols was taken into custody later that evening, arrested on suspicion of murder. While it remains to be seen wheether or not this was a simple accident or a deliberate act, there is a lesson to be learned here. Do not handle firearms when engaged in an activity that requires your fingers to make trigger-pulling movements, or better yet, just don't screw around with loaded weapons.

  10. ***RUMOR*** Did you offload an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 at Circuit City while the retailer was imploding? If you did, we hope you wiped your personal details from the machine. Because Circuit City didn't. Having read our post on GameStop's Texas refurbishment centre, we were contacted by a reader who works in a similar facility (though not one that services GameStop). And there, he claims, things were a little different. See, this facility (doing work for a smaller retail chain) bought some of Circuit City's stock of pre-owned 360s, PS3s, DSs, PSPs and Wiis. And according to our tipster, didn't get what they paid for. The deal was that this company would be purchasing an allotment of consoles that would be pre-owned, though in working condition, and with maybe a few components missing. Instead, not only does he allege that the majority of consoles broken (217 of 227 Xbox 360s were "non-functioning", and 167 of 205 PS3s), but, more importantly, that a "large quantity" of them came with something extra: sensitive personal information. Friends lists. Photos. Videos. Sexy home videos. Arcade games. Credit card details. The facility discovered this while repairing the damaged consoles. They'd fix them, turn them on, test their network connectivity, then suddenly start receiving friend requests, chat requests, game invites, etc. What's more, with the user details still recorded on the system, they could have easily purchased game content on an unsuspecting former owner's credit card. It's a massive compromise of personal information. And while, yes, in the first instance these people should have been more aware of their data, it was a dick move on Circuit City's part to not erase the data before selling it on to a third party. The lessons here? Don't trust big business to do something you should really do yourself! Especially when it involves your credit card details. And home videos of you riding the missus like a naughty donkey.
  11. Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ups the Destruction A first-look at Battlefield Bad Company 2's gameplay reveals a lot more destruction, an icy setting and plenty of gun play. Last week, DICE gave a slew of reporters an early look at the gameplay for their upcoming destructive shooter Battlefield Bad Company 2. Senior producer Patrick Bach warned that the gameplay we saw that night was from "quite an early build." The game was developed using the Frostbite engine and features more destruction. in fact destruction 2.0, than the original title, he said. They only showed single player that night, but they plan to show multiplayer at E3. We watched as a developer played through a chunk of the game. The level opened on an undisclosed snowy setting in Alaska, with men running across a frozen lake toward a small village that has been occupied by Russian troops. The player ran through the town, stopping behind cover to take out enemy units until bullets chipped away at his protection and he was forced to move. At one point, the player ran into a house, firing off shots from a window. An enemy with a rocket launcher fired at the developer, missing him but blowing down the wall of the house he was in. As the player moved through the town, some enemy tanks rolled onto the scene and he called in air support. As the bombs exploded, the screen filled with smoke. As it dissipated, you could see the remains of the flattened tanks. Nearby buildings, hit not with the bombs, but still blasted by the concussion, crumble into the road leaving a scene of detailed devastation. After fighting through the town, the developer jumped into the back of a truck to chase down retreating units. The game shifts from shooter to rail shooter as he starting picking off ATVs chasing the truck along the snow-packed road. Occasionally, an attack helicopter zips in and out of sight, firing on the truck. Bach said the game will feature new weapons and new gadgets, but will still work on the basic rock, paper, scissor premise in battle.

  22. We've known since last month that Call of Duty: World at War would be getting scads of new content sometime this month, but Gamespot has just pinned that to a much more concrete March 19. As you might remember, the pack includes three new maps for the living, Nightfire, Station, and Knee Deep, and one new area in which to battle the zombie hordes: Zombie Verruckt. http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/callofduty5/news.html?sid=6205929&mode=previews The only thing we still haven't heard about is a price, but we'd bet our (as yet) uneaten brains that you'll be ponying up $10.
  23. I was playing Kasbah small map demo, and I ran out of the spawn and started to climb the ladder to the bomb plant and was then sniped by a guy on the Merc's side roof. Later he said he spawned there. Also one of my clanmates spawned behind the Merc's Spawn. Nice Patch...
