TOW-19 Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I have let you know that I place my PS3 firmly flat on its bottom. You may now resume your life, content. ;D Quote
Chili327 Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I dont have a PS3, but i keep my 360 flat. There is more chance of scratching your discs if it is vertical. Quote
Guest STR8_HATE Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I keep mine at the very egde of a slanted shelf, i like living on the edge.... Quote

Infirmity Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Disciple.. I hope you do realize when Sony created the Playstation 3, they did not intend for people to throw it into a wall when the user was mad because he/she couldn't get over 3 kills in a 30 minute respawn on Tidal Fury Small as Seals with Grenades on. (Sorry for the shot at you D, just TRYING to prove a point. & that is you're the only one that could break a ps3 in 3 months.) Haha. I lay mine flat. Quote

Here's the best part it works i just can't play any disc in it. If it's a demo i'm good to go. Sony said if i don't find my receipt it will cost me 145.00 to fix but if i find it, it is free and the only thing they need to know on the receipt is the date and i told him what it was. :'( Quote
ajhutch69 Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 have mine Vertical. only because my desk isn't big enough to have it flat. Quote
Guest Stealthknight Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 desciple just get your bank statement and take it to the store and have them reprint you a new receipt. Quote
[<+>] mic-- Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I have mine standing up, it saves space... Quote

SnowBud Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 My vote was for flat Does anyone use those coolers that go on the ends of the PS3? Any experiences good or bad? I'm sure if it keeps the hardware inside cooler that has to promote longer life right? Quote

Very good. They do what they are suppose to do. Cheap and well worth it snow Quote
SnowBud Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Hmm, I never get the overheat light to come on but I may invest in a set just to be safe. Although last night I must have left it on too long cause it sounded like it was going to spring wings out the side of it and take off from my entertainment center lol. That damn fan inside is loud. Guest M16Assassin Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I wouldn't worry about it overheating on you. I am probably the worst ps3 owner ever because I have it on all the time. I use it to play games during the evening and I put in a movie while I go to sleep. SO it gets turned off maybe 1 night a week if even, and I haven't had any problems yet. Quote
o-BacklasH-o Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I have a side cooling fan that goes right on the right side of the PS3 (perfect fit) and runs off it's own AC power cord so it doesn't zap the PS3 life. I just looked on gamestop.com and they don't sell it anymore, but it was only $25 at the PS3 launch in November of 06. If you get a cooling fan make sure it isn't USB powered, because those run off the PS3 power and basically zap the health of the PS3. Quote
Malik4Play Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 My PS3 so fly....  it hovers in mid-air, no shelf, no table, nothing. I told you people the PS3 was holy, bow down!  Quote
SHANE23 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 I heard a rumor that the majority of people that have issues have it in the vertical position. RUMOR I have a launch PS3 and a new 40GB, both laying down but there is a difference and it may make a difference. On the launch version there are vent holes by the HDD, this MAY be why some are having issues with overheating. If you stand it up vertically those holes would somewhat be blocked. Just speculation on my part but a possibility. Now I have never heard my PS3 fans kick on, I have it in a wide open area and I clean it on a regular basis. Quote
