Prime-VR Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I went to a Golfcourse that I haven't been on in a long time. Anyways we are on hole 7 and this old guy and his wife are chasing the geese and throwing golf clubs at them. So as were getting ready to tee of this old guy hits one of the geese. Then he runs into the bird. Then he gets out of his cart and hits it again. So I bite my tongue and we tee off. Then one of the birds he is chasing flies over to the hole we are on. This old man then drives at this bird until it goes down into this creek. At this point I'm getting pissed. As we finish the hole the guy picks up this branch and throws it at the bird that is down in the creek. So some other guy drives up to help. I then drive over there so say something. I told them to leave the geese alone. The other guy starts running his mouth to me calling a blockhead and some other 4yr old names. So I told whatever I will just call the parks and game and let them deal with them. So we go to the next hole and the old man and his wife drive up just as I'm teeing off. He calls me a fucking tree hugger and then a fat ass or some shit like that. So then I try to get him to get out of the cart and he wont. He just drives off talking shit. Oh by the way I did use some hash language So I'm now to pissed to finish my golf and I go to the managers desk. The manager is gone so I talk to the next in charge. This guy or should I say kid... Tells me that they have some kind of permit that allows them to do anything they want to the geese. I ask to see it and he says I don't have it. So then I ask about this guy and he says he doesn't even work here. So then I ask IF you have a permit then how can a NONemployee have the right to do this. He tells me he has a permit also. So I ask to see this guys permit and he says he doesn't have it either. So I'm going to call the parks and game and also the new station here to have them check into these ass holes. I did use some foul language and a few choice words. This old guy also used them back plus went out of his way to talk shit. So I ask did I over react? Or should this golf course step back and think about this shit?? Don't get me wrong I'm the farthest from a tree hugger but fuck what are they really hurting?? Does this have to be done like this?? Guest Live2Reap Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 in no way did you overreact thats chicken shit stuff right ther I have never heard of a permit that lets you do what ever you want to animals and they didn't even have it on them? yeah ther sooo lying to you call the Park and Rangers on them thats not legal Quote
Pathogen- Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 i would have started throwing things at the old man. Quote
BX-ROBSTEALTH-NY Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 LMAO--primemeat should of tee off on him---LOL----I don't think u overeacted freakin guys a loser chasing after geese what is he fuckin 4yrs old-- those guys were blowing smoke up ur ass i've never heard of a permit that states u can harm animals on a public or private golfcourse--sounds bogus if u ask me dude-- i'm pretty sure ur going to research it let me know if that's shit true-- Quote
Guest Corruptor310 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 WOW call all that you can and burn them at the stake! I know geese can be a huge pain in the ass but come on -- that is the most retarded thing i have ever heard of going down on any golf course. Quote
HippieChik Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 No, you didn't overreact. He should have realized that you were reacting to his OVERreaction. Even if the geese were messing with him while he was playing a particular hole, at most, the guy should have ran the geese off, NOT chase them down and continue to attack them. It's obvious this man has some anger issues. You DEFINITELY shoulda called the game and fish commission or wildlife rangers or whoever handles that stuff and then dared him to call them treehuggers! Would have been quite entertaining! Quote
Prime-VR Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 Well I have sent a few emails out to the Parks and Games here in Nebraska. I have also emailed a local T.V. station that helps people with stuff like this. I will keep everyone in the loop on this. I hope that I will get some good info on this. Rob.... I tried to get the old man to get out of his cart but he wouldn't he just drove off. It would have been my luck that if I teed up and hit a golf ball at him it would have killed him or some shit. [-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Personally (and you already KNOW this) I would wrap my 6 iron around his waste. You don't really NEED a 6 anyway, and if that doesn't work, try your PW. Now remember, you CAN chip with anything up to a 7, but I would not try anything higher than that. ;D Quote
Playerdown Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I would have followed him the rest of the day, and everytime he went to hit i'd yell "JACKASS" Quote
Prime-VR Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 Playerdown ]I would have followed him the rest of the day' date=' and everytime he went to hit i'd yell "JACKASS" [/quote'] This guy wasn't playing on the course. It worked there. Quote
Guest Corruptor310 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I would also strongly suggest that you carry a video device of some nature -- and film mr prickboy and wife -- if you run into them again. they sound like the types to continue this type of behavior. Quote
BX-ROBSTEALTH-NY Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Primemeat u should have pulled a tin cup move on him dude-- hit it off the tee, then bounce off the tree, skip the pavement, finally bouncing off his golf cart to knock him upside his meathead---j/k LOL Quote
Playerdown Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I need a job like that. Run around and throw shit at helpless animals. What are the requirements for that? Position Available: Must have some pitching experience. Little league minimum, no pussy softball shit. Must have extensive expletive vocabulary, and ability to resist feeling sorry or remorseful. Must have fast getaway cart in the event someone sees you. GTA4 exp. a plus. Quote

Guest Skipper Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 There was a similar thing happening in Maryland last summer. We have a type of snow geese that is real aggressive and started overpopulating the areas it would occupy. It would destroy grasses and eat the eggs of the domestic birds. Dept. of Natural Resources handed out permits that was supposed to go to hunters to kill them. Golf courses and parks were granted these permits and the same thing started happening. People were killing them unmercifully and the program was halted. As far as your story, I don't think you overreacted but I wasn't there. You did the right thing by asking to see the permits. Quote
Guest Corruptor310 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 and if the course was running on tee times only -- at that time -- you should be able to narrow down who the asshats where --- they should have a log entry. Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I can't say there hasn't been a time when I was golfing where I didn't WANT to beat the Canadian Geese over the head, but I never acted on it. Bottom line here in MO is that they are a protected species, and aren't to be harmed PERIOD. But I have drove a golf ball at them once. THey were never in any danger, as I'm a pretty shitty golfer. :-\ Quote
Playerdown Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I accidentally hit one with a hard line drive off the tee. (rare occasion). IT smacked it in the side and sounded like punching a heavy bag. It lived. Quote
Guest [iLL] Andawg Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 A SHOT GUN, and a grill and I'm good to go. K maybe a Bow and arrow, shot guns can be loud and draw attention. I've worked on a course and played a lot of golf and never heard of that kind of behavior. The crusty old dude yes, but not attacking geese. I've seen them basically escorted off, funny if you walk at them, they walk away, and eventually fly away. No need to get over aggressive. The people at that course deserve all they get. Give 'em hell Meat. Quote
CRAZMEX Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 You should've repeatidly tried to Drive a Ball up his ass due to the fact that he was being a public distraction, especially if he was coming up to a hole u were on. Weirdos! Quote
SHANE23 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I wouldn't say you over reacted. If you feel what you did is right then that should answer your own question. If he has the right (by permit) to do whatever why would they be swinging branches at them, wouldn't you just shoot them? AND if a business had a permit to do so, wouldn't it be easily accessible? It doesn't make sense and IMHO what you did is right. Quote
Directors John Posted June 2, 2008 Directors Report Directors Posted June 2, 2008 If the state or local ordinance issues a permit to ANY business or individual, they are required by law to present it to any adult of legal age that requests it. Quote
Grafman23 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I might've takin my nine iron out and beatin him over the head with it ... then tell him i have a permit to beat fuckin stupid shits like himself Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted June 2, 2008 Report Staff Posted June 2, 2008 Wow. What a bunch of asshats. IF they do have a permit, I'm absolutly positive it doesn't state they can torture or inhumanly treat the geese. I would assume it's just a permit to remove them. We have shitloads of antelope that run on our courses, but people leave them alone and they avoid you for the most part. A fucked up weekend all around for golf. We saw a guy get jumped by two dirtballs on the 17th hole. Funny part is the guys wife went and got a driver and hit one of the dirtballs, so he's in the clubhouse screaming that HE is gonna sue the course. They almost should make you pass a test to step on the course. Quote
Prime-VR Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 For anyone who wants to read. Here is the email I sent out to the local news station, our news paper, and two people with the parks and game. Yesterday June 1st, A friend and I went golfing at The Knolls golf course in Omaha. Our tee time was at Noon and we only played 9 holes. Well as we were on hole number 6 a older guy and his wife were chasing the geese around. This gentleman was throwing golf clubs at them and driving his cart at them. I believe his name was Jim, but they wouldn’t give his name to us. So as we were finishing the hole he hits one. He claims he didn’t hit it but it wasn’t moving. He then gets out of the cart and kicks it and keeps nudging it with his golf cart. When the bird did move for him he moved his attention back to the other birds. So we moved to the next hole which is next to the creek that runs through the course. While we were on the green of this hole a bird flies over by the tee box. So this guy follows this bird over to here. The bird goes down to the creek. The guy then takes a large stick and throws in down on this goose. This is where I thought I should ask this guy what he is doing. I asked and they told me they can do whatever they want to get these birds off the course. They said they have a permit that allows them to do this by any means necessary. I asked to see the permit and he says he doesn’t have it but the manager will. So myself and Jim have a few words and I will admit that I used some foul language. He also used the same and when back to the club house. So my friend and I left the last hole and went to go talk to the manager. We were told that the manager was gone. So I talked to the next kid in charge. He also wouldn’t give his name. They all told me to call on Tuesday when the manager gets back. This gentlemen said the same that they have a permit to do anything they want. I also asked if this Jim was a employee and they said no. So I then asked how if he is not a employee how can he do this? He says he has his own permit to do this. When I asked to see that he said they don’t have there. I wanted to bring this to you to see if you would check into all this. I will be sending this same email to the 6 on your side. (I sent this to Mike McKnight.) I don’t believe we can let someone do anything they want to these birds during business hours or at all. If I had my 4yr old daughter with me then I would really have been mad. They told me that these geese are ruining the course. I went home after this and watch some of the PGA tour were I then see geese on the course. So I find it hard to believe that this needs to be done. I don’t know if you play golf but I can’t remember a course that you don’t see geese or other animals. I believe this is a wrong way to handle the birds and shouldn’t be allowed. If you have any questions please let me know. I can be reached at the number below Monday through Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. This is the best way to reach me other than email. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much!! Quote
