Neoblackhound Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Red0ctobeR ]So are you playing at 4 in the morning? How many people are playing at that time? Just curious. Actually I was playing from 12:00-1:00am I went to a full server there where a lot of people still playing. Quote
Red0ctobeR Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I see... on my screen it showed you posted at like 3:30 in the morning. Quote

SHANE23 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 This was yesterday afternoon. I fixed the daylight savings issue but that didn't help. I reset everything more then once, didn't help. I have had 2.43 since it came out, a week or 2 ago? So that shouldn't have made a difference. This is PERCEPTION!!! If I had to guess it almost seems like they used their private address for the data server and that is why we keep getting that pop up. That SHOULD be a simple fix but I would think it would take another patch. OR Their firewall is blocking a port that is needed. This would even be an easier fix and it wouldn't require a patch. IMHO I am not filled with confidence about what we are going to get on release. I know there is a rumor that one person knows a person that is related to a person that works at /6 and they say we are going to get a brand new shiny game on the 14th. I have beta tested SEVERAL games including previous Socoms and the BETA is not far from the release version. I also don't see us getting a ALPHA version to test the servers, why test and escort on a road course when we are going to get a Mustang? And think about this, if the road course can't handle the Escort what do you think is going to happen when the Mustang is on it? Quote
brown_mustang Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Dont know if this has been posted but checkout this guys review of Socom Confrontation. LMAO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq6SO92iOdA Quote

GOAT Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Time.. Socom.. patch.. Zipper... hmmmm this got me thinking.. here's some slightly modified quotes on time. “For every minute spent in Socom, an hour is earned.†“Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back.. Socom isn’t free. “Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go play Socom.†“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once. The only reason to patch Socom is so that nothing happens at all.†“You can't change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future and patching Socom†“Don’t count every hour in the day, make every hour in the day count, Don’t count on patching Socom, make patching Socom count.†“I ain’t got time to bleed, I ain’t got time to play Socom Quote
Bleach Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Socom: Disconnection in stores Oct. 14th!!!! lol, the beta is a bit frustrating but it is just that, a beta. I'm still keeping my hopes up for this game next Tuesday and for the UF:Black tourney. Going to be great!! Quote
simihi Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Hopefully this one's better than the last one. Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted October 7, 2008 Report Staff Posted October 7, 2008 I said it 10 months ago, and I'll say it again. All you fuggers will play this game, regardless. In case you haven't tried again. Beta is now running smoother than it EVER has. I know they didn't post about it, but hit detection might have been tweeked too. Maybe it was because I was sober when I played at lunch, but I was on fire!!! Seemed like I would hear 3-4 thumps and the guy would drop. Quote
SHANE23 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 well so far I have gotten in to a couple of rooms. No pop ups so that is good. the first room I got to play a couple of rounds the disconnected. HOLY SHIT the 2nd room, either the HOST is HORRID or something else is up. LAGTASTIC!! Update.... Had a couple of pop ups, 2 or 3. Also had another disconnect. well back to the pop ups and disconnects. It HAS to be their end, server load or something. Quote

I would have to agree about the hit detection I was playing last night and holy crap I would get into a gun battle and usually with the way my connection is I can take quite a few bullets...... not anymore I would get shot at with a burst of bullets and all I could do is say goodbye to 90% of my health. simihi Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Well I just tried to play and kept getting the "You have been disconnected from the game" message even after I messed with the PS3 Clock. There was a new update message saying they are aware of this problem and are actively trying to fix it. So I guess we'll have to wait. Quote
mikejaxon Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 This update sucks just as bad as the rest, the disconnect box seen about thirty of them, something about the clock, 6 people in a room out of 32 getting room full message, rooms with less than max in capacity getting joined late message. They really need to get their shit together and get this stuff fixed withing the next 6 days or this game will be a collosal failure. I know its just a beta but still, if none of this is not suppose to happen when the game comes out why are they trying so hard to fix it and working on their 5th or 6th patch for a beta. Sounds to me like they are scrambling. Quote
inadub Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 this has already been explained on the PS forums.. a game developer not employed by /6 explains where we are in the scheme of things.. here is the story, and yes its long but it SHOULD clear alot of things up.. http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=confrontation&thread.id=437584 Quote

His analogy is patching pants. SO if the version we have is so old why would they put a cotton patch on leather pants. Look at what the patches have done to this version, how are they going to react to a different version? His little flow chart is based on assumptions. This is a post from a producer in EU. "Testing with a limited team of people at SCEA is very different to having thousands hit the server at the same time. You guys are our guinea-pigs in that respect and that's what these trials are for. Yes, I know we originally positioned it as a demo in Europe, but that was for good reason. The game wasn't expected to have the problems it did, so the team have spent a lot of time working on fixing them, as well as getting the game ready for launch in the U.S. However, this just goes to show that you never know what to expect when you roll a game out at production scale. Just think what would have happened if you were all getting these problems after parting with your hard-earned money! " http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=68&message.id=21487&query.id=214711#M21487 This should tell us that we have a close to release version. The statement in bold is what scares me the most. If this version IS old, ALPHA stage, then I have a feeling we are in for a serious issue when release hits. Their system CANNOT handle the load with this version we are SCREWED come release. Quote

I think the saying "you cant predict mechanical failure" applies here it may not be mechanical but you can predict what is going to happen to a server for a new game unless you test it. When they sent the Beta out obviously they did not intend for it to have so many problems but hey the could have said to all of us playing the Beta fuck you guys its only a Beta, but instead they tried to keep all of us socrack heads out here as happy as possible. yeah the last patch seriously fucked shit up but I am still excited for the release next week and I believe that we will se a completly different product.
