  1. I'm not talking about my opinion of MW2 vs. your opinion of MW2. I'm talking about the whole package from an industry POV. Personally, I hate the COD franchise to be perfectly honest. And after the way they treated UF when we approached them during our visit to E3, I can't wait for the whole thing to collapse on Activision. But, no matter what I think personally, nobody can deny what a true "masterpiece" MW2 was/is artistically speaking. And nobody can deny the record numbers it put up either. And, if you're trying to say that the quality of MW2 didn't effect the sales of BO...I'll have to respectfully disagree with you sir. I'm just saying that Treyarch's execution of Black Ops was sub par...at best (compared point for point with Infinity Ward's COD4:MW & MW2, since they are using the basic technology created by IW for BO). And, maybe that's the problem...maybe I just expected too much. ~V~
  2. I was relieved to see that the term "stellar gameplay" was someone else's opinion of this game Dub. Whew! Had me worried for a sec. While, I'd like to give my full review of "the game that out sold Modern Warfare 2" in this thread. I'll save that for the blog (that's right, we have a blog). I think Activision will continue to do with COD what they have been doing. Let's be honest here. Once the framework of COD4:MW was finished, so was Infinity Ward's creative freedom (hence the messy divorce). They (Activision) will continue to stack game after mediocre game on top of the current engine, until it's just so horrible & obsolete, that people stop playing it. Or more specifically, stop buying it. Seriously, if you hold COD:Black Ops beside COD:Modern Warfare 2, and actually compare the two games "apples to apples", Black Ops isn't even in the same discussion. But, Activision's opinion (as evidenced by this nifty little press release) is, "hey, this game has to be that good, it outsold MW2!". And I guess that's fair, to a degree. But the fact remains, that nearly 1/3 (or more) of the people who stood in line for hours to buy this game (COD:BO), did so based solely on the quality of Modern Warfare 2. Don't get me wrong, I thought Treyarch did a great job on COD:W@W. But, I'll talk more later (remember what I said about that blog thingie) about that. Anywho...back to the original discussion.... I'd like to see COD become more "clan friendly" overall. As much as SOCOM:Confrontation might suck, Sony/Zipper has always been the reigning kings of clan support. But, with Activision's recent announcement of a future MMO type installment of COD (that might be what Gen.Sarcasm, and the story he cited, was referring to), this thing might just ugly. Game on. ~V~
  3. I'll be at one of the thousands of GameStops across the land who will be hosting a COD:BO Midnight Launch Party. And, I'll be covering the whole thing for the very next episode of U.Freq.! But, I had an idea....what if I deputize all of you Frequency Freqs out there as special correspondents, and we'll cover this thing from coast to coast...TOGETHER. All you have to do, is call this toll free number.....1.800.364.5170 Ext.404 ....and give me a brief report on your local launch party. Tell us WHO you are. WHERE you're at. And, WHAT is going on at your launch party. Have fun, and try to keep it clean. And I'll include your report in my report. Represent your clan while you represent your hometown while you represent Urgent Fury. Got it? Good. Call me!!!
  4. What if everybody's wish comes true, and we get 4 or 5 or 6 TACMAP events over the next 3-6-5, that will utilize any number of our favorite (or not so favorite) shooter titles? Wouldn't that be groovy? I mean golly...wouldn't that just be swell?
  5. C'mon Nem...I don't pull this stuff outta' thin air sir. I do my homework. And I constantly bombard (spam) people with requests to be on U.Freq. lol Fred Durst is clan leader of one of the biggest clans I've seen. I've contacted him about being on U.Freq., he even responded. He's hardcore. http://www.thelbgc.com/ ICE-T (A.K.A. FINALLEVEL) founded the Final Level Twitter Gang. Not really a clan....more of a....gang...*ahem*...of like minded gamers who chill out on Fridays, and jam on some Modern Warfare 2 (although, he's playing COD:BO as of today). He too replied when I reached out to him (and now follows me on Twitter...how sweet is that?). He has my contact info, and I'm waiting for a reply. Snoop is a Madden freak. Carson Daly as well. And even John Mayer (he's so dreamy) & Breaking Benjamin's Ben Burnley love them some Modern Warfare 2. They're all gamer geeks. This thread is just what it seems. A poll. I want a celebrity gamer on U.Freq. And I wanted to know who you guys would care to know about. That's all. If there's somebody that's not on the list. Let's hear some suggestions, and I'll see what I can do. ~V~
  6. If you could choose one of these celebrity gamers to be a guest on Urgent Frequency...which one would you choose.
  7. Your participation (and sarcasm) is greatly appreciated Wrath. Just remember to keep that hug above the belt sir! Carry on. ~V~
  8. Neato!!! Hey...come to think of it...wasn't there some Russian smack dab in the middle of the last podcast? Hmmmmm..... All I can say is....
  9. This reply is just one of the many reason's I like you Hippiechik. Hooyah! It's so frustrating to work our @$$es off to get prizes (and free stuff in general), to make available to you guys, just to have you say things like, "hey just not into Twitter dude" or "it seems like alot of trouble". I understand that stuff. Really, I do....but c'mon.... This community depends on each member to be an active participant. From the very beginning, Urgent Fury was built by it's members. And now, must be maintained by it's members. Sure, we ask you guys to put in the extra effort sometimes, as we literally can't do this without each and every one of you getting involved, but we try very hard to reward you for your participation. That's really all we can do. There's so much more that I could say in regard to participation (or the lack thereof), but I'll just say thanks again to Hippiechik. Keep up the good work. ~V~
  10. Hey, I'm just reporting what I know. lol Plus, this isn't about laws. It's about dollars and cents. Game responsibly kids. ;-)
  11. Be advised. This could get ugly. After having talked to a GameStop rep last night (Wednesday Nov.3rd), he has assured me that the FBI (yes...the FBI) is currently investigating the "leak" of the game by some retailers (including GS). He also said that Microsoft has even vowed to ban any player caught using the software prior to the November 9th launch date. Just something to think about. With that being said....stay tuned for the next episode (#75) of Urgent Frequency, as we go live (to tape) again for the Call Of Duty:Black Ops midnight launch party Monday night/Tuesday morning. Plus, Sam "Doc" Castanon III (PSN's The Tester Season 1) returns to talk about The Tester Season 2, among other things. ~V~
  12. The thing about GameStop is that they get a 2 or 3 (or 10) page release schedule for each quarter. All the release dates are listed as "projected" release dates. Almost none of them are in concrete. So, just because Cecil, your local GameStop guy is telling you Jan 2011 for SOCOM 4 (or whatever game you're inquiring about)....don't push all your chips in for a Jan. release just yet. I'm not saying Cecil is a lying @$$hole...I'm just saying he may not have good intel. Let's face it gang...The Move is a way bigger success than anybody (including me) thought it would be. Since SOCOM is going to have to be a huge release for Sony. It has to be compatible with The Move. With that being said, don't hold your breath for SOCOM 4 in January. My guess is late Spring at the earliest. But, like I said...we are keeping in touch with Zipper. And we don't plan on leaving them alone until the restraining order has been issued. Travis Steiner gets a little skittish from time to time.
  13. Good catch Path. An homage to a "not so classic" SNL skit! When the staff had the idea to spoof Undertow (I think the this spoof aired like 2 or 3 years ago), we tried for days and weeks to come up with something good. Then blammo! "Goth Talk" was clearly the only way we could have properly poked fun at Tow. I still think it's hilarious.
  14. Hey gang! Thanks to everybody who has purchased a Ufreq Halloween Tee so far! Even if you hate the podcast &/or the shirt, please do your part to help us, help our injured veterans. The WWP means alot to me, and I'd really like to see everybody here get involved. This isn't some silly contest I'm asking you to be a part of here. It's way bigger than that. Thanks again to everybody here for all of your support. I hope the podcast is everything you want it to be...and I'll work to make sure it keeps getting better. Hooyah! ~V~
  15. I think it looks like she/he is trying to hide her/his face from the camera. It appears that she/he is in fact talking to someone off camera left, while she/he shields her/his face from the camera. In 1928 the very idea of moving pictures was still very strange to many people. So strange in fact, that some folks were actually afraid to be filmed. Or maybe she knew she was a hideous woman, and didn't want to be filmed. Or maybe this is Paris Hilton's great grandmother, and she's just looking for a raging party on the strip to go to after the premiere. Either way, perception is reality. If you really want to see an interesting piece of vintage film...check this out... This footage was shot just days before the great quake and fire that destroyed much of San Francisco. It's reasonable to think that most of the folks in this film only had days to live.
  16. There's some speculation that ZIpper Interactive decided (or Sony decided for them....considering that they told us @ E3 that they WOULD NOT reverse engineer any game elements to accommodate The Move) that SOCOM 4's control scheme for The Move needed to be remapped. Regardless, they can delay the game for a year, as long as they get it right. We'll keep in touch with Zipper, and we'll be sure to keep you guys up to speed.
  17. So...any good Halloween costumes out there in the community! Share your pics, and maybe we'll throw the best up on the blog!!! Happy Halloween fellow babies!!! ~V~ My 8 year old son Jaron. He thinks "Dusty" is awesome! Jaron's mock-up MOH cover.

  19. As the title implies, I have finally, officially, "gotten too old for this shit". Tonight marks my final Midnight Mass with RVN, and the shootin, lootin, sick, dirty Black Birds are throwing yours truly a farewell bash. SO YOU'RE ALL INVITED! I'll be turning 40 on Monday (20, September), so it just seems right to step away before Alzheimer's sets in. Or something far worse... Please bring a covered dish and a nude photo ID. Now...everybody sing!!!! http://www.ravenfall.net/intel/ See you on SOCOM. Caw. ~V~
  20. Thanks to everyone who have submitted questions so far. I'll try to get to them all. For now...I have a little homework for you Frequency Freaks. I'd like to know how you all feel about the controversy surrounding EA/DICE's Medal Of Honor (RE: U.Freq. Ep. #71). Do you feel like it's inappropriate for EA to make The Taliban/insurgents a playable multiplayer character in the upcoming Medal Of Honor reboot? http://www.urgentfury.com/misc.php?do=form&fid=10 Submit your replies to the link above, and feel free to discuss the topic here. Hooyah! ~V~
