G’day from Australia! Ed Orman here again, and I’m very excited to be able to finally announce that Submerged is coming to your PS4 on August 4th! And to kick things off, for a limited time PlayStation Plus members will receive a 20% discount on the game starting at launch. Submerged is a third-person, combat-free game in which you explore a mysterious, flooded city and discover the beauty of desolation in vast outdoor environments. You take on the role of Miku, a young girl who has brought her wounded brother to the city in their small fishing boat. Navigate the flooded city streets by boat, scale the drowned buildings, and use your telescope to scour the city for the supplies needed to save your dying sibling. As you explore the city at your own pace, you encounter the habitat that flourishes in this colorful place and discover hidden objects that piece together the story of a broken world and a broken family. Submerged won Best Audio at this years Freeplay Festival, largely due to the beautiful musical score provided by BAFTA-Award Winner Jeff Van Dyck. And Unreal Engine 4 lets us make the game visually stunning, so we’re really looking forward to finally having it in player’s hands. See you in August! View the full article

Resident Evil and PS Vita fans, rejoice! The long wait is officially over — Resident Evil Revelations 2 is coming to PS Vita digitally on August 18th in North America. The episodic survival-horror scare-fest we’ve all come to know and love is ready for its handheld debut via digital release on PlayStation Store for $39.99. Made possible by the incredible team at Frima Studio, this collection brings all of the terror, action, and mystery of the console versions to PS Vita. With that in mind, I wanted to take a quick moment to confirm a few of the additions and content we’re packing into this killer compendium. On top of the four core episodes, you’ll also get two bonus episodes known as “The Struggle†and “Little Miss.†In the first, you’ll learn more about Moira’s struggle to survive on the island between Claire’s departure and Barry’s arrival. In the second, you’ll uncover more about the mysterious girl Natalia and her special abilities. Both episodes play a critical role in understanding these characters and how they play into the main campaign. Of course, Revelations 2 wouldn’t be complete without Raid Mode which makes a big comeback with 15 playable characters (HUNK and Wesker included) and over 200 missions for lightning-fast action on the go. Additional content includes a throwback map pack and multiple storage expansions for Weapons, Parts, and Albums. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got an awesome alternative costume pack chock full of new styles for your favorite characters in both Story and Raid modes (Natalia’s costume limited to Story Mode). So there you have it, the big news is out! With that, we’re heading back down that lonely hallway called development to add some finishing touches. All you handheld horror fans can look forward to getting your hands on Resident Evil Revelations 2 on August 18th and we’ll be keen to hear your thoughts on it! Oh, and as a friendly reminder, Raid Mode 2 player co-op over PlayStation Network is supported out of the gate, and we’ll be adding ad-hoc Raid Mode at a later date via a free content update. Stay tuned for more information. View the full article

Hello fellow PlayStation fans. I’ve been playing tower defense games for a long time, starting from the early days when they were popular as Warcraft and Starcraft mods, then as Flash games, and lately on mobile devices. What I love about them is that they are easy to pick up and play but can be pretty deep. About two years ago, I decided to create one that is inspired by some of my old-time favorites, but with unique features to make it distinct. This wasn’t easy to do, especially on a console, but I believe we’ve made something truly enjoyable. And now, we’re super excited to announce the launch of The Castle Game for your PS4 on August 4th. What are the unique features? Well, ever played escort missions in a tower defense setting? Imagine using the defenses and walls to keep the enemies out, but also having safe and open paths for your allies to run through. Or how about having all the structures be destroyable? Now, some enemies are pretty dumb and will follow the path you cleverly designed, but the smarter ones will take out any structure that can pose a threat to them. So now you have defenses that can be damaged. To balance things out, you are given a giant hammer that can quickly repair structures. Engineers are also available to auto-repair any damaged structures nearby Repairing is just one of the few “battle actions†in The Castle Game. Other actions include a highly addictive lightning spell, focus fire which makes nearby defenders focus on a single enemy, the ability to call in reinforcements, a pretty cool Phoenix spell that is kind of like an air-strike, and a super-powerful Chaos spell that you’ll end up just itching to use as soon as it’s ready. Did I mention that all the defenses and spells can be upgraded through the Armory? These baddies just don’t stand a chance when you have a fully upgraded Catapult with the Chaos spell activated. Just don’t let a Corruptor sneak in and mind control that Catapult. With three different game modes, a huge arsenal of defenses including ranged and melee defenders, traps, and spells, and a wide variety of enemies that can bomb, freeze, and take control of your defenses, we think you’ll have a blast building and defending your own castle on August 4th. LEAP Game Studios is a relative newcomer to the gaming industry. It was just a few years ago, before the company was formed, that at the Global Game Jam 2012 we spent a weekend building game prototypes. Based on our mutual passion for video games and the momentum we gathered at the game jam, we decided to start LEAP Game Studios and build upon Squares, one of the prototypes we developed at the event. In brief, Squares is a reflex puzzle game where the goal is to turn all the blue squares gray. However, the game is not just about puzzle solving skills. It is also timed, so you need to have lightning-speed reflexes and attempt to finish each level as quickly and precisely as possible. Also, throughout the levels, you will find squares of different types that will add new game mechanics and additional ways to interact with them. The game allows you to compare your best scores and accomplishments with that of your friends and others via leaderboards and Trophies. We also included a level editor to allow players to create their own levels, which they will be able to share through the PlayStation Network in a future patch. As for the soundtrack, we have teamed with French musicians Adrien Maljournal and Teninké Camara, who will add electronic tunes to the game sessions. Taking Squares from a game jam prototype to a mobile and console-ready game was challenging to say the least. As Nathan Vella from Capy has said, during a game jam, it is relatively “easy†to develop a game because everyone is highly motivated given the time pressure, and the game only needs to provide 15 minutes of entertainment. It is much more difficult to expand on an idea and create a game that is equally fun for hours while staying motivated throughout the entire development process. For us, one of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to add more layers of complexity to the game while maintaining a simple game mechanic and minimalistic design. We prototyped dozens of levels, which we then narrowed down to the ones we thought were the most fun and challenging. After nearly two years of tweaking and development, Squares is being introduced as a full-fledged game with 80+ levels and specific PlayStation Vita touch features. Squares has been developed with the support of the PlayStation Incubation Program. The incubation program team has been an amazing resource for us since the inception of Squares and we are profoundly grateful for their support. The development of Squares has been an exciting beginning for us as console developers, and we look forward to partnering with the Incubation Program to introduce the many other games we currently have in the pipeline for PlayStation. Hello PlayStation Nation! At Treyarch we’re constantly challenging our team to do the best work of their lives with each and every game we create. Last month, we had a chance to sit down to discuss how we make games and our ambitions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 with host Wil Wheaton as a part of the original series Conversations with Creators. That episode is now available for FREE on your PS3 and PS4 through PlayStation Store and at the YouTube link below: From the origins of the Call of Duty franchise, to the introduction of Zombies, to our latest creation Black Ops 3, with three distinct game modes, we discussed all things that make Treyarch Call of Duty games unique and a ton of fun to play. And something cool for the fans from our friends at PlayStation: beginning this afternoon, PlayStation Store is discounting a TON of iconic Call of Duty games and DLC, including the first two installments of the Black Ops franchise. The Call of Duty community’s support and passion has always meant a lot to us, and helps fuel our drive to deliver the signature Black Ops experiences you’ve come to love and expect. I hope this conversation further fuels that excitement, and come this November you’ll once again join us for Black Ops 3. We hope you enjoy the show! Cheers! View the full article

Tembo The Badass Elephant – out tomorrow on PS4 – is the type of game I’ve always wanted to make. As a kid growing up in England in the ‘90s, I would play a lot of platform games on the SNES and Mega Drive, and then come up with my own characters and game ideas, sketching them out with coloured pencils. I never really grew out of it, and ended up working in the games industry, in London at first, moving to Japan later, eventually joining Game Freak about five years ago. Game Freak are most famous as the creators of Pokémon, but they have a history of making great action games too, like Pulseman for the Mega Drive, or Drill Dozer for the Game Boy Advance. I pitched the company my idea for a new mascot character game, Tembo The Badass Elephant, and they liked it. After we made a demo version, they greenlit the project for production. The starting point for the game was the character of Tembo himself: a big, powerful elephant commando who can bulldoze almost anything in his path. Tembo comes from the jungle island of Tuskland, where he fought in a human war alongside a colonel named Krenman. Many years after that war, Krenman is back in his native Shell City, when it’s invaded by an evil army known as PHANTOM. Krenman, realising he needs some serious wrecking power, calls upon his old friend Tembo to destroy the nefarious PHANTOM and save the city. A really important element of this game is the way that Tembo controls. We spent a lot of time making him feel heavy and strong, yet speedy and precise. You can stampede through enemies and objects, racking up combos as you go, then spring into a jump and butt stomp through meters of concrete in one satisfying chain of action. We wanted enemies to provide a good challenge for the badass Tembo, so the PHANTOM army will throw some heavy duty characters at you, from tanks and helicopters to massive mechanical bosses. Towards the end of the game the screen will be pretty much full of enemies trying to destroy you with missiles, bombs, and body blows. To realise this kind of frenetic, physics-based action, we needed to use the power of the current generation of hardware. Working on the PS4 was a great experience. The artists could fill the screen with high resolution textures and environmental effects, and the level designers could pack levels with objects and enemies to destroy. One thing I personally like about PS4 is the controller. For this game, the D-pad works well, and I like its placement and the way it feels. The controller’s vibration feels particularly good, and works nicely when you’re smashing up in-game scenery. It’s a new and exciting experience for Game Freak to be releasing a game for PlayStation 4. I hope you’re excited to play! View the full article

Hey everyone! We just announced some big Street Fighter V news today at the Capcom panel here at EVO 2015. There is quite a lot of information to take in, so buckle down and read carefully! First and foremost, Street Fighter V will feature a brand new service-based approach with regards to post-launch content. With this approach come several key changes to our content strategy: The initial release is the only disc you will ever need to own All balance and system adjustments will be available for free All post-launch gameplay related content will be earnable for free by playing the game That’s right; Street Fighter V will be the first iteration in the franchise where it is possible for dedicated players to earn all gameplay related content (such as characters) for free, simply by playing the game. Long gone are the days of forced Super and Ultra upgrades! Enjoy free balance updates as soon as they become available, and find and choose the post-launch characters that you want to get. Pre-order for Beta Access Speaking of characters, Street Fighter V will launch with a core roster of 16 playable characters, with 4 of them being brand new fighters to the Street Fighter universe. Post-launch, we will be adding new characters to the roster on a continuous basis, which will provide new content for players to enjoy. Again, every post-launch character released will be earnable for free through gameplay! Looking back on the Street Fighter IV series, we had always released bundles of content all at once, like with Super Street Fighter IV and Ultra Street Fighter IV. While these one-time updates did revive interest in the series every few years, it was difficult to keep players engaged for long periods of time unless they were competitive. This also punished players who took a break from playing the game, because if they wanted to start again in a few years, they would be forced to purchase an upgrade to join the existing player pool who had already moved on to a new version. On top of that, this old method also forced players to purchase all of the new content, even if only a few characters may have appealed to them. With Street Fighter V, we want to change the way that players interact with the series, and create an ever-evolving environment for players to enjoy. By releasing new characters on a regular basis, it will ensure that there is always new content to look forward to in the short term, and it prevents the competitive environment from ever becoming stale. Players also have more freedom in their decisions, as they only need to purchase or earn the content that appeals to them. This will also create more long-term engagement, because the more you play the game, the more you are rewarded and can earn new content. The player base is never shrunk by requiring a paid update like in years past. Players can take a break from the game, but then come back at any time and continue to play with the characters they already own, with the newest gameplay balance. We are able to execute this service-based model by introducing an in-game economy to Street Fighter V. There are two types of currency that make the economy go round: Fight MoneyThis is basic currency that players earn through playing the game. Once players accumulate enough Fight Money, they can use it to earn new post-launch gameplay content, such as characters, for free!ZennyThis is premium currency that players can purchase with real money to immediately gain access to post-launch content. We will be using later beta phases to test the economy and ensure it works in a fair way for everyone. Phew! That was a lot of info, so we hope it all makes sense to everyone. We are extremely excited about this new post-launch strategy, and we’ll be talking about more specific details at a later date. For now, we hope everyone is excited to start playing and earning content! View the full article

Hellblade, Ninja Theory’s forthcoming third-person action game isn’t a title that shies away from tackling difficult subjects. A story told through the lens of Celtic warrior Senua’s faltering mental health, it’s testament to Ninja Theory’s vision that they’re creating a game that’s both progressive and honest – and as a recent hands-on play through demonstrated, an immensely entertaining, playable experience with a refreshing sense of freedom. “We’re trying to make a game with that indie spirit but AAA production values. So we’re able to take creative risksâ€, development manager Dominic Matthews tells me at one of Hellblade’s. “The mental health theme is one that we’re treating with a lot of respect. Movies, TV, art and literature always tackle challenging subjects, but games tend not to – and if they do, it’s not always in a particularly positive way. We’re not trying to be educational, but if we can deliver a truthful portrayal of Senua’s mental illness, then maybe some people will understand it a bit better.†Ninja Theory are known for their visceral, intense games, and iconic lead characters – such as DmC’s reimagined Dante, Enslaved’s Monkey and Heavenly Sword’s Nariko. Has it been tough to balance that trademark style with such a challenging subject matter? “We want to deliver something that’s truthful and also specific to Senua – but at the same time, make a game for people who are fans of what we do; we’re known for combat and a certain art style and deep stories. First and foremost it has to be an entertaining, compelling game,†explains Matthews. “I think there are similarities between Senua and previous Ninja Theory characters, but we want to create a character that’s memorable and heroic for her own reasons.†At its heart Hellblade is an action game with combat that is very much focused on brutal one-on-one encounters that will test your timing, tactics and knowledge of Senua’s fighting style. “Senua has one weapon and her entire move set is available from the start. It’s up to you as a player to explore that system and to master it and to uncover all of the nuances of Senua’s battle style. She’s a Celtic warrior, fighting against a Viking clan, so that’s what she does, she’s awesome at fighting! It is a battle and it’s relentless.†Approaching the E3 demo’s first fight is a punishing experience. As I move into a clearing in the woods, a hulking, blade-wielding warrior towers over Senua and, for the first few encounters brutally sends her sprawling into the surrounding undergrowth. But soon, the rhythm of the fight takes over and a series of blocks, parries, nimble dodges and carefully timed attacks gives her the upper hand. “We want every fight to feel like it matters. We won’t just throw fodder enemies at you – the combat is deep, complex and each encounter will need you to think about your tactics, not just crowd control.†The brutality of each combat set-piece harks back to genuine historical events – and Senua’s place in this era gives meaning and context to her situation. “The story is based on a period in history when the Orkney Islands were invaded by Vikings who wiped out the Pictish Celts – Senua is a survivor of that invasion, and the story is her coming to terms with that violence and trauma that was caused by that event. “The combat in the game and the violence that Senua’s involved in isn’t a result of her mental health; everything in the story is her reality, that she has to deal with.†Even at this early stage, Hellblade feels like a confident, exciting and ambitious take on a genre that has always felt at home on PlayStation. Suffice to say, you’ll be hearing more about it soon, right here on PlayStation Blog. View the full article

Since we launched on PS4 in November 2014, our team has been delighted at the audience Never Alone has found on PlayStation. We’ve received wonderful and supportive feedback from players, including many who felt a personal connection with the themes of the game, which was developed inclusively with members of the Alaska Native community. We were a PS Plus free game for the month of April, and seeing the PS4 community embrace the game was both exhilarating and a little overwhelming. All of this makes it especially exciting to talk about two upcoming Never Alone releases for PlayStation: Never Alone: Foxtales, our first DLC, and Never Alone for PS3 and PS Vita. Never Alone: Foxtales Throughout the development of the original Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna), we immersed ourselves in hundreds of Alaska Native stories before deciding to base the game on the tale of Kunuuksaayuka. Never Alone: Foxtales features three new levels, inspired by another of these amazing stories. Working on Foxtales has given our team a chance to build on the elements of the original game that players really responded to with more complex and varied puzzles, new abilities for each of the characters and new environments. We decided to base Foxtales on the story of ‘The Two Coastal Brothers,’ as told by Willie Panik Goodwin, Sr. The interdependence between the two brothers in this traditional tale was really compelling because in many ways it reflected the interdependence between Nuna and Fox. One brother is an excellent hunter and fighter. The other is a strong swimmer. To defeat the main antagonist, they must work together, each of their unique talents supporting the other and ultimately proving crucial to their success. This idea of interdependence is not only an important theme in many Alaska Native tales, it also creates opportunities for fun gameplay. We found that players of the original game responded best to puzzles that required them to use the special abilities of the two player-controlled characters in unexpected ways. We were able to create more interesting and varied puzzles in Foxtales by embracing this approach, casting Nuna and Fox (the main characters of the original game) as the two characters from the traditional story and giving each character new abilities. Nuna, for example, can row and steer an umiaq (a sealskin canoe) and Fox can interact with spirits to change the flow of underwater currents. As all this talk about canoes and currents implies, Foxtales is set in a different (and decidedly more nautical) environment than the original game: the waters and coasts of Northwest Alaska. At the risk of stating the obvious, Alaska is a pretty big place and is home to a diverse set of terrain and environments. Those environments also change with the seasons, so things aren’t as uniformly snowy as in the original game (which did involve finding the source of an endless blizzard, after all). We made a decision early in our design process to set Foxtales not only in a different location but also in a different season: the Arctic spring. This not only let us include new game mechanics, but also let us develop art and level designs that depict the beauty of Alaskan environments that couldn’t have appeared in the original game – like an arctic prairie with the first blooms of spring peaking through the snowpack, the rapids and waterfalls of a river fed by melting snow or the subterranean lair of an unexpected new villain. Never Alone for PS3 and PS VitaOne of our hopes for Never Alone is that the game introduces Alaska Native culture to audiences that may not have been exposed to it before. To that end, our team has started work on bringing Never Alone to two additional PlayStation platforms: PS3 and PS Vita. Our progress has been encouraging, and we expect the game to be available for both platforms this Fall. The original Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) is available now in the PlayStation Store for PS4. Never Alone: Foxtales will be available as DLC for the original game on PS4 through PlayStation Store on July 28th, 2015. Have questions about Never Alone and Foxtales? Let us know in the comments! Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Great games, burdened only by the fact that they’re bound to the almost nine year-old PS3. And, well, my TV only has two HDMI inputs, and they’re awfully hard to reach… The good news is that Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection brings these three classics to PS4 in remastered form, lovingly detailed by the exacting touch of veteran studio Blue Point. I got to play a short sequence from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves — namely, the thrilling helicopter attack set piece you might remember from PlayStation’s E3 2009 Press Conference (good memory, by the way!). Based on what I played, PS4’s copious processing power is helping Uncharted 2 age gracefully. We should all be so lucky as Nate. The new 1080p resolution and generous framerate give everything a clean, crisp, fluid look and feel that flatters the original PS3 version without betraying Naughty Dog’s vision. One might say that this is Uncharted 2 the way it was meant to be played. And yep, that building still falls down real good. I played unfinished code that was missing a few minor visual effects, but Bluepoint’s loving influence was readily apparent. The studio is upgrading character models, environment textures, lighting, and special effects across the board, bringing all three games as close to visual modernity as possible while ensuring they remain true to their original creative direction. As the studio finalizes work on the collection, it will also roll in the assorted control scheme tweaks, gameplay refinements, and subtle mechanical upgrades that evolved through the series across all three games, bringing them into closer gameplay parity. Though my experiences with the game were brief, they were encouraging. You’ll get to see for yourself when a playable demo launches on the PlayStation Store later this summer. Have questions? I’ll do my best to answer in the comments below! View the full article

Following a collaboration with Coffee Stain Studios, I am delighted to announce that Goat Simulator will be available on PS4 and PS3 starting August 11th! Perhaps you’ve heard of Goat Simulator, perhaps you haven’t, but for those of you who have spent their days hoping to be a Goat, causing mayhem up, up, down, down, left right, left right of you — your dreams have finally come true! This is Goat Simulation on the bleeting edge of technology! You Can Fly No, really, you can. Be it by jetpack, hang glider or wrapping your insanely long tongue around a helicopter, you can take to the skies as a goat. You Can Blow Stuff Up Not only can you blow stuff up, but you’re also able to get up and walk away after being involved in an explosion; how many goats do you know who can say that? You Can Headbutt Stuff Well, at the end of the day, you are a goat… You Can Do Cool Tricks Mid-air Often compared with a popular skater game of years gone by, you can also do cool mid-air tricks in Goat Simulator. Multiplayer Local co-op allows for two players on PS3 and four players on PS4 to share in the Goaty goodness! GoatVR We’ve been working on GoatVR for some time, and we’re pleased to debut it in the Playstation editions of Goat Simulator. GoatVR is the most authentic “simulated GoatVR experience†that doesn’t require a helmet or anything. Although it’s not quite ready yet we felt it better to stay ahead of the crowd and let it out into the wild. We still need to do that part where it connects to an actual headset but for now you can enjoy a simulated GoatVR experience without it. We’ve also added a score multiplier to help offset the concerns we’ve had from a very few number of Beta testers that felt it was somewhat difficult to “see where you are going.†View the full article

Hi, it’s Jakub from Grip Games and I bring you great news! After a very long wait, several delays, and a change of publisher, Q.U.B.E: Director’s Cut is coming to PS4 and PS3 on July 21st. Formerly published by the game’s creators Toxic Games, we at Grip Games took over the work of releasing this award-winning puzzle-platformer for PSN at the beginning of this year and I am really glad that I can tell all the QUBE fans that the long wait is finally over. The game is almost here, in its best version ever released — the Director’s Cut! If you haven’t heard about Q.U.B.E: Director’s Cut before, then you should know that it is a first-person puzzle game. You wake up inside a huge, mysterious white cube that’s hurling through space towards Earth, and you’ll have to solve dozens of physics-based puzzles and platforming challenges, using a pair of hi-tech gloves that can manipulate some parts of the environment, to get out and save Earth. As the name suggests, the Director’s Cut version brings changes and new things to the game’s original PC version. The biggest change is a new story, which itself is a puzzle you have to figure out inside your own head. It’s hard to explain, I don’t want to spoil it! It was created by veteran writer Rob Yescombe. He’s written for games like The Division, Alien: Isolation, Rime, and the Crysis series. So you can be sure that you’ll at the edge of your seat right until the finale. The second major addition is a time-trial game mode, called Against the Qlock, where the game pits you against the clock. Combining precision, logic, and quick reactions you’ll have to speed through each of the ten levels using a variety of pick-ups to your advantage. Q.U.B.E: Director’s Cut is coming to both PS4 and PS3, and will be cross buy. The game is running on the Unreal Engine, so expect it to look sleek and gorgeous, and the PS4 version runs at 1080p and 60 frames per second. If you want to know more about the game, I will answer any questions you may have here in the comments, or you can follow us on Twitter for Q.U.B.E: Director’s Cut news. View the full article

Hello, PlayStation fans! The team and I at Gaming Minds Studios have been looking forward to sharing this news with you for some time — Grand Ages: Medieval will be launching on PS4 September 29th. We’ve been working diligently on the PS4 version for some time, so it’s a big deal for us that I can finally introduce the game to the PlayStation community today. To give you a quick introduction, Grand Ages: Medieval is the second entry in the Grand Ages series and the first to appear on console. While this is our first title for PS4, the development team at Gaming Minds is comprised of strategy veterans with experience going back 19 years, and we’ve been releasing strategy titles on PlayStation platforms as far back as the PS2 era. Along with our publishers Kalypso Media, we’re really happy to be back on PlayStation and continuing the Sony tradition by releasing Grand Ages: Medieval on PS4. For those new to the genre, Grand Ages: Medieval is a real-time, grand scale strategy game that takes place in the High Middle Ages. The game begins in the year 1050 A.D. as you assume the role of a mayor governing a small European settlement. Your goal is to lead your people through the decades by expanding your trade routes and nation’s influence; and eventually, begin conquering all of Europe. Aspiring empire builders will have to utilize politics, trade, warfare, and research advancing technologies to assert their empiric control over the 20 million km playing area. With that kind of scale we hope you’ll begin to see just how “grand scale†Grand Ages: Medieval’s campaign will be. In addition, we’ll have an exciting, eight-player multiplayer mode available for when you want to take a breather from the main campaign. A cool and unique feature of our multiplayer is that you’ll be able to set commands and protocols that let you take breaks from multiplayer without ever having to leave the game. This feature is great for playing with and against friends in other territories when timezones interrupt your schedule, but should only be used sparingly as you may come back and find you’ve slept through your own defeat. And PS4 players can expect full 1080p in all modes. So, on behalf of the entire team at Gaming Minds Studios I really hope you’ll be looking forward to the release of Grand Ages: Medieval on PS4 this September, and we look forward to sharing more with you before launch. Thanks! View the full article

Naughty Dog is an incredible place to create. Since our inception, embedded in the DNA of our studio culture is a desire to create character-driven games, combining story with ground-breaking mechanics to evoke emotional connections with complex characters and captivate the player with powerful gameplay. Two months ago Evan Wells, Anthony Newman, and the two of us (Bruce & Neil) sat down with host Wil Wheaton as a part of the new original series, “Conversations with Creators†to discuss how these core Naughty Dog tenants paved the way to the creation of The Last of Us, the first three Uncharted games along with our upcoming sequel, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. That conversation is now available on the PlayStation Store on your PS3 and PS4 for free, and on YouTube: We’re also excited to announce some discounts and free items hitting PlayStation Store today. First, PS3 owners will get three multiplayer map packs for The Last Of Us that were included in the PS4 version of the game for free. Those map packs include the all-new Abandoned Territories Map Pack, the Reclaimed Territories Map Pack and the Double Map Pack. Also, on PS4 and PS3, we are discounting The Last of Us: Left Behind Stand Alone for the first time since its release. All will be available to download from PlayStation Store this afternoon! As always, many thanks to the PlayStation Nation. Your support and enthusiasm fuels our passion to push the medium forward and raise the bar for narrative-driven games. I hope this conversation gives you a glimpse into our creative process. Best, Neil Druckmann & Bruce Straley View the full article

This year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of God of War, and we at Sony Santa Monica are proud to bring God of War III Remastered to PS4 today. For many God of War fans God of War III was one of the most epic titles on PS3, and the game is still one of our studio’s proudest accomplishments. For all of you that have joined the PlayStation family on PS4 recently, we hope that you become part of the Spartan army, yell “Zeus†to the heavens, and guide Kratos on his quest for revenge. And for the life-long God of War fans, we hope you enjoy reliving your favorite moments taking down gods and Titans alike as only Kratos knows how. The team at Wholesale Algorithms has made God of War III Remastered sharper, more vibrant, and smoother. Now you can see every single detail of Kratos’ fiery blades in motion as he performs his incredible ballet of destruction. The gameplay, which targets 60 frames per second at 1080p, just feels better, and the animation of the characters look so much smoother — which as an animator is especially rewarding! We also added an awesome photo mode that allows you to capture Kratos and his unlucky enemies in great dynamic poses that you can save and share with your fellow Spartans. To help us celebrate 10 years of God of War, we have partnered with IAM8BIT and artists Jim Rugg, Doaly, and Nimit Malavia to create their own inspired massive 24″ x 36″ movie posters based on God of War 1, 2, and 3. Today we are revealing the final poster from Nimit Malavia for God of War III, so be sure to check it out. On behalf of Santa Monica Studio, we would like to thank all of the God of War fans who have supported us for 10 long years and we hope you all enjoy God of War III Remastered on PS4. We look forward to continuing this long journey with you. View the full article
