Hola, PlayStation fans! My name is Pablo Testa, Technical Director at OPQAM — an indie game studio based in Argentina. Our team has always been big PlayStation fans, and it was very important for us to launch our first game on the most popular next-gen console in Latin America. We’re pretty excited to bring our first title — Project Root — to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, especially since we can officially announce two things today: our official launch date of April 28th, and that PlayStation gamers will be able to cross buy the game! Project Root is our take on the classic shoot ‘em up (SHMUP) genre. In the game, the world-leading energy corporation, Prometheus, has been ruthlessly expanding its influence around the globe, and the only way to stop them is through direct action. You take control of pilot Lance Rockport and together with the rebel group Arcturus, you’ll fly your advanced fighter to face squadrons of enemy aircraft, legions of tanks, all the while dodging swarms of missile attacks. In short: shoot first, shoot constantly! One thing we did a little differently from traditional games in the SHMUP genre is adding free-roaming exploration elements. You can move your aircraft all over the map and explore new areas, though this also means attacks can come from any angle! It’s a good thing you’ll get pretty cool power-ups as well as the ability to upgrade your ship after every level to improve shields, turning speed, firepower, and much more. We definitely want PlayStation fans to enjoy the fast-paced action of the game and I hope you won’t get too dizzy with all the dodging and attacking! Be sure to check out the game on April 28th on PS4 and PS Vita with cross buy support. Thanks so much! View the full article

Hello there, PlayStation fans! My name’s Daniel Leaver and I’m the lead designer at Dreadbit — a game developer from Guildford, England. I’m a long time PS.Blog reader so it’s truly something special to be able to write a few words here today. I’m proud to present Dreadbit’s debut game for PS4: Ironcast! Whist Ironcast is Dreadbit’s first console game, I’m personally no stranger to PlayStation development. I’d previously worked at Media Molecule as a senior designer for about 8 years, helping to craft levels and features for LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, and more recently Tearaway on PS Vita. However, Ironcast is the game I’ve always dreamt of making! Ironcast is a game of steampunk mech combat, set in a fictional version of the Victorian Era. Inspired by science fiction writers such as H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, Ironcast is set in an exciting alternative history; a time when refined men and women in top hats and bonnets commanded gigantic walking war machines, laying waste to the enemies of the British Empire! You’ll take control of a 7 meter tall walking vehicle called an Ironcast. You must face off against an invading force of enemy Ironcast in order to defend 1880’s Victorian England. Battles are fought by generating resource nodes which in turn drive the Ironcast’s various weapons and systems. Players must choose how to spend these nodes wisely, either offensively in order to cripple and destroy their opponents, or defensively, if they suspect a barrage of incoming weapons fire is due. On the surface the game may look like your standard puzzle game, but in action it’s a lot more involved than that. Nodes are collected by linking three or more of the same color symbol from the grid. Each color represents a different resource; orange for energy (powering your Ironcast’s shields and defensive systems), purple for ammunition (used to fire your weapons), green to repair the damage sustained in battle, and blue to cool down the Ironcast’s engines. They might be amazing machines, but this is steampunk — if technology’s not overheating, you’re not doing it right! You can only make 3 matches from the grid per turn, so if you haven’t collected the correct resources from then you won’t be able to activate the systems you may want to, meaning that you’ll need to plan your node collection patterns wisely. Anything less will ensure that you’ll end up as a pile of flaming wreckage! The core of the game is a Roguelite campaign, featuring character levelling, numerous mech systems and weapon upgrades, and randomized loot and mission content. Players choose their Commander character and Ironcast mech, both coming with unique skills and gameplay modifying abilities. Missions are randomly offered to the player from a selection of 75 unique scenarios, meaning each playthrough will be different from the last. Players also earn Scrap metal from matching yellow nodes and defeating enemies throughout the game. They then spend this Scrap resource on Ironcast upgrades, and constructing weapons and defensive systems, salvaged from the wreckage of their defeated opponents. It’s important that players try to keep ahead of the curve where possible to ensure that they’ll be strong enough to survive the boss encounters. The goal of the campaign is to repel the invasion of enemy forces before they reach the capital, London. Players have 9 days (which is the equivalent of 9 missions) to prepare themselves before the boss encounter itself, gathering experience points, scrap metal resources, and men and women who will help the player combat the enemy Flagship Ironcast. I thank you all for reading this far. Ironcast is a unique and challenging game. I’m sure you’re going to love it when it launches on PlayStation 4 later this year. Two mere months ago, a gone but not forgotten video game from the days of yesteryear was lovingly dusted off, given a hefty makeover and sent forth once more into the land of the living so it might be played again by fans both new and old. The resurrection of Grim Fandango Remastered took place thanks to some help from our friends at PlayStation, so it naturally made it’s way onto PS4 and PS Vita, and we very much hope that those of you who have played it had a lot of fun! Today we’d like to announce that our brand new adventure game is headed to PlayStation Store on April 28th, and we’re super excited about it! Broken Age comes to you from the same team that made Grim Fandango back in the 90’s, along with some more youthful (and and some say more attractive) collaborators at Double Fine Productions. Broken Age tells the story of Vella and Shay, a girl and boy from completely different worlds who seem to be leading strangely parallel lives… …Vella has been chosen by her village to have the honor of being sacrificed to the terrible monster Mog Chothra, but having no interest in being devoured by a horrible beast, must go against ages old tradition and make her escape. Meanwhile somewhere in space, Shay is living a solitary life under the care of a very motherly computer, and whilst his every need is taken care of in every way imaginable, he wishes for nothing more than to break free from the monotonous safety of his daily life, and have some real adventures. Funded by a record breaking crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, Broken Age features words, concept art and music from legendary adventure game makers Tim Schafer, Peter Chan, and Peter McConnell, along with the unique art of Nathan Stapley, and the voices of some amazingly talented people from the movies and TV and stuff. Shay is played by Elijah Wood from Lord of the Rings, and Vella by Masasa Moyo who played Sarah in Team America. We also managed to convince Jack Black, Jennifer Hale and Pendleton Ward to speak into microphones for us, so they’re in the game too! As part of the crowd funding campaign Two Player Productions filmed the entire development of the game to make a no-holds-barred documentary, which is now available for free! If you’re interested in watching a game coming together from concept to finished product, through good times and bad alike, then check out the YouTube playlist over here. The full Broken Age adventure is coming to PS4 and PS Vita on April 28th through a partnership with the PlayStation Third Party Production team and it features cross buy, cross save, and lots of pointy-clicky adventure gaming fun times. Stay tuned for more Broken Age updates. Thanks! View the full article

Hello, World! Here at IguanaBee we have exciting news to share — MonsterBag is about to be in your hands! Now with the good folks at PlayStation, we can share with you our release date. It was difficult for us to wait any longer, but now we can share our game with you on April 7th. Yes, it’s that close! We know that you’d prefer to see a trailer rather than continue reading about the game, but sadly we didn’t have the time to prepare something for you, so, sorry, this is all we have… Nah, we didn’t want to leave you empty handed at this moment, so we got some help from talented folks at PlayStation, who helped us put together this launch trailer. Enjoy! Most of you will be asking “What’s MonsterBag about?†MonsterBag is a kind of puzzle, platformer (If you think of people as a platform!) action game. The game is about a little blue monster called V and V’s journey to get back to his friend Nia (a charming little girl), passing through places filled with people. But what would you do if you saw a monster approaching you? Smash it to death, of course! You’ll have to help V sneak past people, all the while being aware of where they’re looking and what particular behaviors they have. Don’t worry, he has a card up his slee… well, he has no clothes, but he’s not a powerless monster. V has some telekinetic skills that surely will be useful in more than several occasions. We’re looking forward to putting MonsterBag in your hands (well in your PS Vita, in your hands). Making an indie video game company from a Latin American country has been quite a challenge, but our passion has helped us cope with all the challenges that have arisen. We (Cristian González and Daniel Winkler) love what we do, and so do all the talented folks that joined us along the way, particularly David Rioseco, Glenn Lazo, and Moises Aguilera, as well as Ronny Antares, and his PowerUp Music team. We hope you’ll love MonsterBag as much as we do! We’ve put all our heart into this story with some new and unusual ways to play so we hope that all our efforts will bring you more than one smile, some tears and a lot of “pull your hair out†moments. Finally, we want to deeply thank our friends at PlayStation for believing in us and in MonsterBag! So prepare your PS Vita for April 7th when it launches on PS Store for $9.99. See what a team of crazy fellows from this thin, but beautiful country called Chile can offer! Cheers, All of us at IguanaBee View the full article

PSBlog Feed: Paperbound Launches on PS4 March 31st
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
Hello, everybody! Allow me to take you on a magical ride into storyland. I once waved my hands and foretold a nebulous launch date for Paperbound of “March 2015.†Entire weeks have passed, and some quantity of humans has been anxiously awaiting the happy ending for this tale. By Jules Verne’s nightgown, the stars have aligned and the hallowed pages have revealed… oh, screw it. Paperbound will launch on March 31 in the Americas. It’s going to be $9.99. Think of all the butt-sitting hours of fun you can have with that. By comparison, here are some other things you could buy with $10. 1.23 quality burritos. Estimated duration: 15 minutes. A ninja turtle toy. Estimated duration: depends on dog. One of those photo frames with the photo of the happy family. Estimated duration: a lifelong reminder of your family’s inadequacies. A bottle of water at Disneyland. Estimated duration: 30 nicely-hydrated minutes. If you’re not familiar with Paperbound (shame on you), it’s a local multiplayer (that means a bunch of people on a couch), 2D brawler in which you enter the pages of old books to have twitchy battles and manipulate the direction of your own gravity. We have 11 original characters taken from these books, as well as a cabal of playable characters popping in from other games. You use weapons like pencils, scissors, and ink bombs to take out your enemies in the most whimsically-satisfying way. Paperbound will feature all the wall walking and adorable decapitation you’ve come to love in other games, plus some newly-added and tricksy AI bots that are good for the following purposes: Embarrassing yourself (when they beat you) Filling the holes in your heart Evening out teams in 2v2 games Knitting* Flying solo Each bot has his/her own personality. For example, Mumsy (the one-eyed mummy) can be coy and keep his distance, tossing scissors when you come near. All the tossing and scissoring you can handle. Juan (making a guest appearance from Guacamelee!) is aggressive and pretty much doesn’t need anything but his fists. Jasmine doesn’t take crap from anybody and will hunt you down should you momentarily get the best of her. The bots are something I decided to add recently because I know that not everyone has their friends over all the time. As fun as sleepovers are, sometimes your wife doesn’t appreciate them. So these bots are for all you lone wolves out there. They’re also good when you’ve only got one or two pals over and you want to play a sweaty, sweaty match of the 2v2 Capture the Quill game mode (or any of the other 2v2 modes). I think they’re quite formidable (Mike, the character artist, lost 10 out of the first 12 matches he played against them), but some people are naturals and might think they need more of a challenge. Well, I’m glad to say that once you think you’ve mastered them in some of the easier arenas, the more chaotic ones like The Book of Void or Grinder (a sadistic arena from Dante’s Inferno) will cut you back down to size. There are 18 arenas from the pages of all 5 books (A Journey to the Center of the Earth, Skull Kingdom, A Book of Five Rings, The Book of the Dead, and Dante’s Inferno), so you’ll have plenty of challenges to face. One thing that was a major goal for Paperbound was for the arenas to feel very different from each other, allowing for a lot of variety. And I think we’ve hit that mark, from the screen-wrap teleporting of The Book of Void to the springy platforms of Spirit Stones and the narrow channels of Labyrinth. Some arenas are tight, condensed experiences, such as The Book of Water, while Whirlygigs and others are expansive and allow you to really master navigation. The Paperbound team is really excited to be hitting your PS4 at the end of the month. It’s a great platform for Paperbound because you can get your best friends alternatively staring at the same screen and then giving each other menacing glares. This a type of experience that’s making a bit of a comeback, and I’m happy that Paperbound can be at the forefront of it. *Not really. View the full article -

Last time we checked in, we were absolutely thrilled to bring you Slender: The Arrival on PS3. This time around we’re bringing the scares to PS4, and they’re better than ever. One of the things we loved most about Slender: The Arrival was the haunting soundtrack. From exploring dark, ominous areas to running frantically for your life, we wanted to ensure players were always on edge. Combined with some beautiful, calming audio in the more tranquil areas of the game, we were able to create a unique emotional experience. So now, not only is the game looking and running better on PS4, but we’ve also decided to take the audio one step further and take advantage of the system’s brand spanking new video recording functionality to bring you an awesome new giveaway. Here’s a look at what you’re in for: “Whispers around the town of Oakside Park speak of a legend. Many longtime residents will know of it, fearing the tale as children and growing old enough to eventually pass it along to children of their own. It speaks of a voice in the woods, a soft and alluring melody known to draw inquisitive wanderers deep into the forest where they are never to be seen again. Many believe the voice to belong to an old woman named Frieda who has long since passed, tragically taking her grandchildren with her. Frieda’s gravestone can still be found on an old homestead just outside of town. Is this simply an urban legend concocted by worried parents to keep their children from getting lost in the woods, or is there something more to it..?†Throughout the game on any given play session there is a small chance that a melody sung by a calming voice will play whenever the player ventures through outdoor environments. If players can capture a recording of the voice, upload it, and send it our way to prove it is more than a mere urban legend, they will have the chance to win some great giveaways, courtesy of Blue Isle Studios. For more details and rules about the giveaway, head over to our website. Slender: The Arrival lands on Playstation 4 today. We hope you enjoy the game, and don’t forget to keep your eyes and ears open! View the full article

We’re proud to announce today’s launch of Metal Slug 3, the pinnacle of 2D run & gun action on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita during Spring Fever! Metal Slug 3 | PlayStation.com Originally launched in 2000 by SNK on the NEOGEO game console — which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, Metal Slug 3 is the most highly-praised installment in the series by Metal Slug fans around the world for its refined game balance and massive volume. Together with Code Mystics and SCEA Third Party Productions, not only did we want to bring a high-quality version of the original NEOGEO game with added Trophy support and online multiplayer, this download version of Metal Slug 3 also includes convenient cross save functionality, and a cross play feature allowing players to enjoy co-op gameplay on any of these three PlayStation platforms. In order to emphasize and have players take advantage of these unique features, our latest and greatest NEOGEO release on PlayStation Store is available for a limited time at $14.99 as a three-way cross buy game during the Spring Fever campaign, with a 10% discount for PS Plus members. In celebration of today’s launch, SNK’s lead artist Eisuke Ogura has prepared an exclusive new visual of (the rare) Mission 4 “way of the forgotten samurai soldiers†branching path. Almost all of the game’s missions feature one to several branching routes sending players to a variety of unique areas… Be sure to find, play, and clear them all! View the full article

The wait is finally over, Borderlands fans. Today, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection arrives on PlayStation 4, ushering in the current-gen debuts of Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and all of their add-on content! It’s incredibly cool to see both games in a single package, especially with all of that add-on content, which is an absolutely insane amount. Also, if you’re an easily-impressed dork like me, you’ll spend at least a few minutes flicking back and forth between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on the game select screen, because the animated menu is mesmerizing. Beyond the games and all of the add-on content, we’ve also got some cool new features like four-player local split-screen and the ability to transfer your saves from prior-gen systems. Using cross save, you can transfer your characters and Badass Rank from PS3 to PS4 or vice versa, and for Borderlands 2, PS Vita saves can also be transferred back and forth. Today also marks the launch of the final Season Pass add-on content for Borderlands: The Pre Sequel — Claptastic Voyage and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2! Claptastic Voyage is a brand new add-on campaign set inside Claptrap’s mind. It involves Handsome Jack digitizing the Vault Hunters and sending them inside to find the mysterious “H-Source†code, while trying to get out of Claptrap’s consciousness without going completely insane. As a bonus, this add-on pack includes the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2, which raises the level cap to 70. Claptastic Voyage and the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 are available on PS4 in The Handsome Collection today, and is also available for PS3 Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel players (either included with a Season Pass purchase, or as a separate purchase for $9.99). Also available today are cool bonuses for Tales from the Borderlands players. If you’ve been playing the excellent Tales from the Borderlands from our friends over at Telltale Games and have purchased the Season Pass, starting today you’ll be able to unlock bonus heads and skins in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It’s great to see so much cool Borderlands content arrive all at once, and it’s even greater to see it finally arriving on PS4. We’ll have a lot more great stuff coming for PS4 players as Battleborn ramps up in the months ahead, so stay tuned! View the full article

The wait is over: Bloodborne is now available in North America. Please find below a special message from game director Hidetaka Miyazaki: To all Bloodborne fans, As From Software’s first game for PlayStation 4, development of Bloodborne was not without its ups and downs. But thanks to the tireless efforts of the development team, and the support of all of the staff at Sony Computer Entertainment, we somehow made it to the finish line. Bloodborne takes place in an old city called Yharnam, where a sickness called the “scourge of the beast†turns humans into malformed beasts. And it is here that Hunters will engage in deadly blood-drenched combat. I hope you all get to enjoy this dark, terror-filled, horrific experience. –Bloodborne Director, Hidetaka Miyazaki Bloodborne is out now, on shelves and via PlayStation Store, exclusively for PlayStation 4. Don’t forget, starting today, you can download the custom Bloodborne audio mode, tuned specifically for the game, to your PlayStation headset through the PlayStation 4 Headset Companion App. As a special treat just for launch, please enjoy these two music tracks: one from the game, and one from the TV commercial. First up is “Cleric Beast,†from the Bloodborne Original Soundtrack. Composed by Tsukasa Saitoh, this piece is also featured on the Bloodborne Mini Soundtrack, a three-track album available as a gift to those who purchase Bloodborne digitally from PlayStation Store this week, through March 31st.* The second music track is the full length song HUNT YOU DOWN by The Hit House Featuring Ruby Friedman, featured in the Bloodborne TV commercial and 90s CG trailer.** See you in Yharnam, hunters * For promotional use only. © & (P) 2015 Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. **(© 2015 Hit House Global Publishing | BMI). Psst.. Bloodborne is out tonight! And if you know anything about From Software, you know they don’t make cakewalks. To give you a head start, PlayStation’s internal teams joined forces to provide a list of crucial tips. Enjoy, and leave your advice in the comments below! Character DevelopmentChoose carefully. Spend time selecting your “Origin†during character customization. Selecting the one that fits your play style will save you time and Blood Echoes in the long run. –Julie Abdalla, SCEA Test Analyst Stats 101. Vitality grants more health and is always helpful. Endurance and Strength are good bets if you want to maximize your melee, while Bloodtinge boosts the effectiveness of your firearms. Whichever play style you prefer, pick a few key stats and pump them. Don’t spread yourself thin! Blood money. Blood Echoes are your sole form of currency, both for purchasing items and leveling up. If you die (and you will), you’ll lose them… but if you can get back to your body without dying again, you can reclaim them. Look for a puddle on the ground or an enemy with glowing eyes. Dress to kill. As soon as possible, save up Blood Echoes to buy the Yharnam attire from the shop in Hunter’s Dream. This new garb will greatly increase your defense and help keep you breathing early in the game. Invest for success. Use Blood Stone Shards to “reinforce†(aka upgrade) a weapon’s damage. You can do this in the workshop located in Hunter’s Dream. Once you’ve chosen a good melee weapon, reinforce it as much as possible as early as you can. The extra damage will make your life so much easier. You are the weapon. It’s best to stick with one weapon and learn its intricacies — how far it reaches, how long it takes to swing, which buttons yield the best attacks. For example, the Kirkhammer starts as a humble sword, but tap L1 and it transforms into a mighty hammer that can eradicate mobs of beasts with one swing. – Justin Massongill, PlayStation.Blog Smart shopping. Quicksilver Bullets are hugely overpriced in Hunter’s Dream, so make runs through Central Yharnam and scoop them off the snipers instead. Save your Blood Echoes for Molotovs and other, more exotic purchases. Insightful mind. Your Insight level is shown in the upper right-hand corner of the screen under your Blood Echoes. It indicates the depth of inhuman knowledge you have attained, and you can spend a point to call in other players for help. Pay close attention to your Insight level — things around you may change as it increases… – Kumi Yuasa, SCEA Bloodborne Producer Combat StrategiesThe best defense. Bloodborne rewards a smart offense. After you take damage, for a few seconds you can regain lost health by landing blows on enemies. In tough combat scenarios, it may pay to launch into a berserker rage and earn back every possible drop of life. Lock and load. You can click R3 to lock onto a foe, and you’ll circle strafe around it. You’ll need to lock on to throw items or fire projectiles. Locking on isn’t always the best choice, though. When fighting multiple foes or certain bosses, you may want to preserve your freedom of movement. Generally, it’s best to lock on when you’re facing one tough enemy, such as a Wolf Beast or Brick Troll. Gun stunner. Bloodborne’s firearms inflict little direct damage. Instead, use them to stun enemies and set up devastating Visceral Strikes. Lock on to an enemy (click R3) and press L2 to fire. A well-timed shot, landed just as the enemy is attacking, will briefly stun it. Then, at close range, quickly tap R1 to inflict a deadly Visceral Strike. This will kill most beasts in just one hit, and even works against many bosses. Practice this and you’ll be unstoppable. Free ammo. Heading into a crucial battle and need Quicksilver Bullets? No worries. Tap Up on the directional pad and, at the cost of a little life, you’ll snag five free rounds. If you’re quick, you can even regain that lost life by slashing at a nearby foe. – Justin Massongill, PlayStation.Blog Drink up. Blood Vials are quite common in Yharnam, so don’t skimp on healing. Tap Triangle whenever you’re not at maximum health — yes, even during a fight. Meet the Molotov. Early on, Molotovs will be your best friend. They’re affordable, inflict significant damage, and will allow you to defeat enemies that are much tougher than you. Combine them with the Oil Urns to inflict grave damage. Hit and run. The lunging attack (Up on the left analog stick and R2, simultaneously) is a powerful move you’ll want to use again and again. Use it to land the first strike on a dangerous enemy or to deliver a final blow from afar. Wear and tear. Inflicting less melee damage than normal? Your weapon is probably in disrepair. Keep your weapons in tip-top shape by visiting the workshop in Hunter’s Dream. Flame on. The torch illuminates dark spaces, and can inflict decent damage up close. But when equipped, it will also keep certain, dangerous enemy types at bay. It’s a useful tool for any Hunter. Trap ‘em. Try to lure large enemies into smaller pathways where they cannot easily get through, and then perform thrusting attacks to kill them from relative safety. – Brandon Buchholtz, SCEA Test Analyst Build a combo. Hops and rolls count as a “move†in a combo. Try dodge rolling and following that up with L1 or R1. You’ll attack in a unique way. – Brian Dunn, SCEA Brand Marketing Tips For Central YharnamFear the wolves. Wolf Beasts spell trouble. You’ll first encounter a pair of them on the Great Bridge in Yharnam en route to the Cleric Beast. Throw a Pebble to lure one out, then fight it one-on-one, being mindful to hop backwards before it attacks. If that doesn’t work, melt ‘em with Molotovs. Troll the Trolls. A Brick Troll can be a handful. Early in the game, don’t mess around: Toss two Molotovs and be on your way. If you don’t have that luxury, use lock on (click R3) and work your way around to its backside. Land a blow or two, then get out of the way. Wash, rinse, repeat. Stone’s throw. In Central Yharnam, the Hunter mobs crowded around the fire pit can easily overwhelm you. Throw a Pebble to lure one away and deal with him Mano y mano. – Brandon Buchholtz, SCEA Test Analyst Cut corners. Explore the environment to find secret paths and routes, and be sure to unlock doors and gates to create shortcuts. When you need to return later to pick up your dropped Blood Echoes, shortcuts may be a big time saver! – Kumi Yuasa, SCEA Bloodborne Producer Watch the windows. Keep an eye out for illuminated lanterns near doors or windows. These signify that you can interact with an NPC inside. Some of these NPCs will issue side quests. – Tommy Garry and Colin Fannon, SCEA Test Analysts View the full article

Very busy and exciting times for Telltale this month! Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2 — Atlas Mugged launched just last week, and today we can announce a HUGE surprise… This week, you’ll be able to play Game of Thrones Episode 3 — The Sword in the Darkness! The episode is out tomorrow, Tuesday March 24th for PS4 and PS3 via PlayStation Store in North America. Check out the trailer below for a little taste of what’s coming up in Episode 3 — The Sword in the Darkness. If you’re not quite up to date on the season so far, beware of spoilers! If you are up to date, just beware of dragons… Still here and all caught up on the season? Good. So what else can we share about what House Forrester is up to in Episode 3? As ever, we wouldn’t want to spoil too much… but we can share a few details on where your favorites are. Asher, the exile, heads to Mereen in search of an army to take on the Whitehills. Meanwhile, far across land and sea in Westeros, Mira must deal with the lethal politics of King’s Landing. Her family’s safety is paramount and she will do anything to protect them, but nothing is given freely, and her choice of allies may soon come to haunt her. To the North, in Ironrath, the Whitehill occupation continues. Gryff Whitehill, fourth-born son, is out to prove himself, and brutality and violence grows daily, pushing the Forresters to make far-reaching decisions. Finally, at the Wall, Gared learns that he must head north if he is to help his house survive. But fate is cruel, and you’ll be forced to make choices that will change his path forever. It’s a gripping episode, and with so much of the table set now that players have a firm idea on who they’ll be playing as (and who is still alive), we’re excited for everyone to dive in for more! It’s the third of six episodes, our biggest series yet, and once finished we’ve officially hit the halfway mark. The response to the game series has been incredible, and we’re always excited to see fans getting into the story! Remember, all of the game’s events take place in the time leading up to the start the fifth season of HBO’s award-winning television drama, returning in April! You’ll be able to purchase the episode individually for $4.99, or purchase the season pass for $24.99 to get access to Episodes 1-6 as they launch on PlayStation Store. Thanks to all of you who’ve been playing Telltale’s games! Be sure to let us know your thoughts on our latest in the comments below. View the full article

Greetings to the PlayStation community! Hideaki Itsuno of Capcom here. As you may know, Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition is set to release in the summer of 2015, some seven years after the launch of the original game back in January 2008 to a positive reception from fans of the series. The original Devil May Cry 4 was actually Capcom’s very first title for PS3. This year Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will make its way to PlayStation 4 with new modes, gameplay and visual improvements, and the largest roster of playable characters in any Devil May Cry game to date. One of the biggest new attractions in Special Edition is that you will be able to play as Vergil, who has proven to be an extraordinarily popular character amongst fans. For his appearance in Special Edition, we’ve used his Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition rendition as a gameplay foundation, and added in elements of his DmC rendition to create the definitive version of the character. We’ve also added in a brand new “Concentration†mechanic, which complements Vergil’s signature “iaijutsu†fighting style, making his attacks grow stronger and stronger the more calmly and flawlessly he fights. Additionally, the “Grim Trick†ability, which allows Vergil to teleport using his “Sword Illusions,†makes for an action experience that will feel new and distinctly different from that of Nero or Dante. We also decided that we wanted to make Lady and Trish playable for the Special Edition. On top of the already playable Nero and Dante from the original game, this makes for a total of five playable characters in the game. Lady, who is a playable character for the first time in the series, has a fighting style that is conceptually quite different from that of the other DMC4 characters, with a special emphasis on firearms. Lady’s focus on long-range fighting will feel like a completely different way to take on the action. When playing as Trish, you will see that she does away with weapon switching, and instead makes skillful use of the Sparda sword in a variety of ways that require the use of relatively few buttons. This again makes for a play style that will feel distinctly different from anything you’ve seen in the game until now. “Legendary Dark Knight Mode,â€a feature we were previously unable to include in the PS3 version, will be added to the game. This mode pits players against a tremendous number of enemies. Players will have to adjust their fighting style to adapt, making for a fresh gameplay experience for even long-time fans. The game will also feature a plethora of new costumes, which are fully compatible with in-game cutscenes, bringing a fresh look to scenes some fans may have seen before. It’s a great honor to be able to bring Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition to PS4. Stay tuned for more information, and please look forward to a fun game with tons of content this summer, whether you’re a stylish seven-year veteran or a newcomer to the series. View the full article
