Hi everyone! Sweet summertime is in full swing, and that means it is time for one of our favorite promotions of the year, PlayStation Store PLAY. Kicking off today, our annual summer program features a diverse lineup of new games and special offers. This year’s PLAY lineup will feature four titles on PS4, including Journey, N++, GALAK-Z, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture – all available for pre-order starting today. Even better, PlayStation Plus members will receive a 20-percent discount when pre-ordering PLAY 2015 games. Full PLAY 2015 ScheduleLaunch DateTitle (Platform)PS Plus Pre-Order PriceRegular Price7/21Journey (PS4 / PS3)*$11.99$14.997/28N++ (PS4)$15.99$19.998/4GALAK-Z (PS4)$15.99$19.998/11Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture (PS4)$15.99$19.99*Cross-Buy title But that’s not all: Pick up two or more PLAY titles through August 18 and receive a PS Store coupon* for 10 percent off an entire cart purchase, via our Game More, Save More offer. And now, without further ado, let’s dig into the PLAY 2015 lineup: Journey Journey for PS4 creates another opportunity for gamers everywhere to play the award-winning title, now in stunning 1080p. Awakening in an unknown world, the player walks, glides, and flies through a vast and awe-inspiring landscape — traveling alone or teaming up with other strangers they meet along the way — while discovering the history of an ancient, mysterious civilization. N++ N++ is a fast-paced, action-packed puzzle-platformer set in the distant future. You play as a ninja — darting through obstacles, narrowly evading a slew of inadvertently homicidal enemy robots, and collecting gold in a minimalist, sci-fi world. You know, traditional ninja stuff. N++ has thousands of hand-crafted levels, each featuring a series of difficult challenges, diabolical traps, and a distinct visual style to nimbly soar through. And if that weren’t enough, there’s also a built-in level editor (plus global level sharing and leaderboards)! GALAK-Z Classic anime, ’90s spaceship shooters, and precision arcade gameplay collide in GALAK-Z. Shockingly smart enemies work together and track your every move as you hone your skills to pilot your ship in zero gravity. A living and interactive environment serves as the stage for your physics-based death ballet in this hand-drawn homage to anime dreams. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture transports the player back to the moments leading up to the apocalypse to explore the choices people make when they’re faced with world-shattering events beyond their control. The Chinese Room, the innovative studio behind the award-winning Dear Esther, continues to push the genre of experimental storytelling with this PS4 exclusive. * Coupon code will be delivered via email, XMB message (PS3), and system message (PS4/PS Vita) on 9/1/15. Redemption period ends 9/30/15, 11:59PM PT. View the full article

I have been waiting for literally years to say this: N++ has a release date! We worked with Richard E. Flanagan to put together this fancy trailer for the announcement, so let’s let it do the talking: Yes, N++ will be coming to your PS4 on July 28, 2015. As a special treat for PlayStation players, it’s a whopping 20% off if you pre-order in the next two weeks! Bonus: you also get an awesome N++ theme for your PS4. [Aside: This kind of discount will not be happening much, so if you’re looking to get N++ on the cheap, now’s your chance! Actually we’ll be raising the price when the first big update comes out (it will effectively double the size of the game). More info on that soon ] But back to the main event: we are so excited N++ is finally ready for release and we can’t wait for you all to finally get your hands on it — it is challenging, satisfying, and bursting with surprises. I can tell you with complete and enthusiastic confidence, N++ is the masterpiece we set out to make. It has turned out even better than we expected it to, and partly because of the N++ Beta we ran over the past few weeks. N++ has a built-in level editor so when you’re done playing the 2,360 levels in the game, you can go on to create your own levels. Every single level, including the ones made by players, has highscore leaderboards with replays. That’s a lot of data we needed to be sure works seamlessly! The purpose of the Beta was to help us test the massively complex server-backend component to N++, which will allow you to share your levels with every other N++ player on PS4 throughout the world, and also to view replays of people playing your levels. It’s a good thing we tested it, because there were a lot of issues we’ve now fixed so that when N++ launches (On July 28th! Yay!), everything works perfectly. As an added bonus, you’ll get to play all the levels people made during the Beta! We also streamlined the UI, tweaked the graphics and added lots of polish. Beta players had great feedback, and it was really helpful to see how people approach the game. We were especially happy to hear only positive feedback on the way the game feels to play, which is something we’ve spent the last ten years very finely tuning. All in all, the Beta helped us make N++ even better, and it’s almost time for you to see what we mean! There’s way too much to describe in one post, so I’ll go into more detail about N++ in the next few weeks. In the meantime, here’s a cool short video made by PlayStation Canada that helps you get a look at what N++ is, who we at Metanet are, and why you’ve just got to get your hands on this game. That’s it for now — stay tuned for more info soon! In the meantime, if you have any burning questions about what you can expect to find in N++, let us know in the comments! View the full article

Later tonight, baseball’s biggest stars will begin their two-day take over of The Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio to celebrate the 86th Annual MLB All Star Game. Tonight at 5:00 PM Pacific on ESPN, some of the MLB’s biggest sluggers will gather to put on a show that only baseball can in the 2015 Homerun Derby. With a field consisting of Joc Pederson, Kris Bryant, Prince Fielder, Todd Frazier, Albert Pujols, Manny Machado, Anthony Rizzo, and Josh Donaldson there are sure to be plenty of fireworks — no pyrotechnics needed. Although we don’t want to spoil our video prediction below, we can say that the final matchup of the Hometown hero Todd Frazier and future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols didn’t disappoint! Just under 24 hours later, (giving the outfield seats just enough time to recover from the beating they’ll take during the HRD), the 86th Annual MLB All Star Game kicks off at 4:00 PM Pacific on Fox. Baseball’s best from the National and American Leagues will meet to fight for home field advantage in this year’s World Series. If our calculations are correct, the 2015 All Star Game will be one of the most remembered Mid-Summer Classics in recent history. I won’t give our prediction away below, but a blown 4 run lead leads to some extra-inning heroics. Don’t forget to follow MLB The Show on Facebook, and Twitter to see how we’re spending our ASG! How close will our predictions be? What are yours? Let us know in the comments! View the full article

Welcome back to PlayStation Underground, our online show about video games! Today I’m pleased to host the time-traveling designer Kenneth Yeung from Capy Games. And in the spirit of time travel, we’re sharing this Super Time Force Ultra episode that we recorded ages ago. Thematic consistency! On today’s episode, Ken showcases the crazy action, robots, dinosaurs, and — of course — time travel that make up the pixelated backbone of Super Time Force Ultra on PS4. As an added bonus, Ken breaks down each of the PlayStation-exclusive characters, including our friend and President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida. Yes, Shu is a character. Rejoice! Let me know what you think in the comments, and remember that we’ll be back soon with more Underground in the weeks to come. Enjoy the show! View the full article

Hey PlayStation fans! I’m in a great mood so I’m going to throw out a bunch of stuff to share today. I wanted to share some new details about online multiplayer. Connecting with other players is totally different than previous THPS games, and it’s unique compared to the current crop of skating titles. The Freeskate levels serve as lobbies for up to 20 players. They act as hubs where players can hang out and skate between different missions and online matches. The sessions themselves are hosted by dedicated servers, so you can drop in and out of populated Freeskate sessions at any time. When you are ready, you can jump into a mission with your party or challenge the entire park in one of the competitive multiplayer modes. This is done from the Sessions menu, a multipurpose tool for queuing up missions or modes, managing your party, and checking to see who’s in the park. When your mission or match is finished, you can either retry/rematch or seamlessly jump back into the Freeskate where you can hang out while deciding what to do next. This means that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is designed to get you online quickly and easily. As a reminder: the online features are only in the PS4 version. The PS3 version has no online play (this is why the price is $20 less). Also, PS4 and PS3 owners will be happy to hear Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 has PlayStation-exclusive content. There will be three character heads from Sony’s games: Ratchet, Sweet Tooth, and Sackboy. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention some nuts and bolts things about the game. The pre-order exclusives from GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon are all live, so be sure to eye those and pick your poison. There are differences between what is offered for the PS4 and PS3 versions, so be mindful of that. It will be available for PS4 on September 29, 2015 for $59.99, and the PS3 version will show up before the holidays for $39.99. We’ll have the game playable to the public at various places in North America and Europe over the summer and fall, so be sure to follow @TonyHawkGames on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to get the deets. Thanks for taking some time to let me talk about our baby, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5! View the full article

Hello from San Diego! I’m at Comic-Con 2015, and I just got back from playing a few rounds of Call of Duty Black Ops III multiplayer (after seeing the debut of its hyper-cool looking new Zombies mode). Black Ops III feels both familiar and fresh, featuring Treyarch’s tried-and-true genre-defining shooting mechanics but amplified by new additions — like a “guns up†mentality in the design process that minimizes downtime, even while sprinting or when underwater. Oh yeah, you can swim (and shoot while underwater) now too! After some time with it, my favorite change in Black Ops III is the inclusion of Specialists, a roster of unique individuals with their own backstories and abilities. Before the start of each match, players select a Specialist, who they then play as for the duration of the match. I had access to multiple Specialists, designated not only by their callsigns — Ruin, Seraph, Outrider, Reaper, Prophet and Nomad — but by their distinctive appearances and abilities. My favorite? Seraph, whose Annihilator revolver made short work of anyone unfortunate enough to stand in my crosshairs. Aside from the abilities unique to each Specialist, the Pick Ten system returns and affords players even more options to customize their play style — after they make the tough decision of which weapons, attachments and perks to use. Movement is a heavy focus in Black Ops III. Gone is your feeble mortal stamina limit, replaced by the ability to sprint endlessly. Combined with thrusters, which are used to augment jumps and slides (thruster-sliding is so much fun you guys), player mobility is an incredibly important part of the experience. Careful though — with increased mobility comes increased responsibility. Let’s just say that mistakes were made. That said, classic Call of Duty “boots on the ground†gameplay is still equally viable as a play style. I had fun wall-running and thruster-sliding, but when it comes time to do some good old-fashioned face shootin’ there’s nothing like watching your radar and creeping around a corner with your weapon drawn. Call of Duty Black Ops III launches on PS4 November 6th, but a pre-order will grant you access to the beta, which debuts on PS4 August 19th. View the full article

Hey everyone! Hot off the presses, the latest character in the Street Fighter V roster was just announced at the annual Street Fighter panel at San Diego Comic Con. We present to you: Ken! With many of the series’ mainstays having already been announced for Street Fighter V, a lot of people were wondering if the master of the flaming Shoryuken would make it back this time as well. We are happy to inform you that he’s back in full force with a brand new look and a burning desire to light up the competition! Employing a wide variety of fast moving, long range attacks, players who enjoy an aggressive in-your-face style of gameplay will feel right at home with Ken, with his flashy combos and big damage. V-Skill: Quick Step Ken runs towards the opponent, closing the distance in an instant. Ken can also choose to step kick or input another attack closer to the end of his run! V-Trigger: Heat Rush Ken channels flames through his entire body for a short period of time, which powers up his special attacks by increasing their number of hits and improving their trajectory, allowing him to perform even more damaging combos. Also, just a quick reminder that the first online beta program for Street Fighter V will be PS4 exclusive and begins on July 23rd at 6:00 PM Pacific, running for 5 days. In North America, fans who pre-order the game through select retailers or PSN will be granted automatic access to the beta. In Europe and Asia, anyone who would like to take part in the beta should head over to www.streetfighter.com and sign up for a chance to join the fight! While the Spring 2016 release date is still a ways away, stay tuned as we’ll be making more Street Fighter V announcements very soon. Maybe as soon as… next week? J Be sure to tune into Twitch next weekend (July 17th~19th) as we hit the road for the biggest fighting game tournament in the world, EVO 2015! View the full article

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a first-person mystery game and it’s coming to PS4 on July 14th. We thought it might be fun to introduce the game by sharing a few secrets behind the game’s development process. 1.) Why We Chose This Particular TitleThe game is a weird fiction story, and weird fiction can be described as “horror meets pulp.†The best known weird fiction writers are Howard P. Lovecraft and Stephen King. To honor the game’s literal roots, we wanted its title to resemble the pulp horror stories of the 1930s and 1940s. We went through all the books and all the magazines, including the famous Weird Tales. We created a list of proposals that included titles like The Incident in Red Creek Valley, Midnight Detective, and The Case of Ethan Carter. But even though we liked some of them a lot, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was always our favorite. The title is inspired by The Vanishing of Simmons, the story by August Derleth, a writer best known for being the first publisher of Lovecraft. There’s both poetry and mystery to the “vanishing†word, and that is exactly the message we wanted the title to express. But why exactly is it Ethan Carter? There is this great anecdote about a poet who met a fan at a party, and that fan passionately analyzed one of the poet’s works. “No, that’s not what it’s aboutâ€, answered the poet, “But your interpretation is much better, so from now on I’m going to stick with it.†It’s the same with the name of “Ethan Carter.†There’s no clear inspiration behind it, it just came to us, subconsciously, and felt right. But then one day a fan asked us if “Carter†was a nod to another story from the Weird Tales magazine: Lovecraft’s The Statement of Randolph Carter. “No, but we love this idea, and from now on we’re going to stick with it.†And that is why we tell everyone that it was Randolph Carter who inspired Ethan’s last name. As you can see, in 1930s they really loved their “The Something of Someone†template (The Vanishing of Simmons, The Statement of Randolph Carter, etc.) for a title, and we respected that tradition with the title for our own game. 2.) How the Game Got Us into TroubleAn ancient evil ruling a remote valley tries to stop a private detective from finding a missing boy. It’s a story that can happen almost anywhere, be it United States or Poland. At least that’s what we thought. It’s only when we started marketing the game and telling everyone that the game is not taking place in any specific location when we realized that no, it’s not “a story that can happen almost anywhere†when your main character is named Ethan Carter, and not, say, Kajetan Woznica. Ethan Carter is a very British/American name. So that forced us to look for that specific place that would fit the story and the name. We chose Wisconsin due to its striking similarity to the vegetation and landscapes of our fictional Red Creek Valley that was based on the actual valley in the Polish Karkonosze mountains. 3. We Hated the Game’s Music, and then it Won Multiple AwardsOkay, we did not hate the music the entire time, just for the first three hours. Here’s the story. The composer, Mikolai Stroinski, is known for his smaller (Dark Souls trailer) and bigger works (The Witcher 3). He expressed his interest in making music to The Vanishing of Ethan Carter by sending us his own version of the score to the game’s teaser. We liked it, so a few months later we asked him to be the first guy to try creating an actual game score. A few days later, Mikolai sent us three tracks. We listened to them all and I wish I could tell you “and then there was silenceâ€, but the truth is we were very vocal about our disappointment. It’s just not what we imagined the score would be, the tracks were too engaging, too cinematic, too fantasy. We listened to the tracks again and then we called Mikolai and told him that we did not like the direction he chose but if he is okay with that then maybe let’s try again? Mikolai was a bit surprised but agreed to give it another go, and we split for the night. But then one of us called the others and said, “Gentlemen, this music is incredible, but don’t just listen to it. Make sure you actually play the game and play the tracks as if they’re already implemented as the game’s background music.†And we did, and then there was light. It turned out that what Mikolai has done was absolutely incredible, it’s just that we evaluated his work in the wrong way, listening to the tracks without seeing the imagery they were supposed to accompany. But walking around Red Creek Valley with Mikolai’s music in the background was an astonishing, otherworldly experience. We called Mikolai, and, wearing sackcloth and ashes, apologized. Luckily, Mikolai took it all like a pro that he is, and continued working with us closely for the next year or so. And then his Original Soundtrack for the game won multiple industry awards. Thanks, Mikolai! 4.) We Had to Censor the RealityGraphics aren’t always that important in video games, but they are extremely important in our game. In order to offer never before seen visual quality, we used a technique called photogrammetry. In short, you photograph the real world, and then special software spits out a 3D game-ready asset that looks exactly like the real thing, like something that could never be achieved by hand. Of course, it’s never that simple, but that’s the gist of it. However, with assets like that, and the realistic “global illumination†lightning offered by the Unreal Engine, the game looked… too real. I mentioned earlier that The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a weird fiction story, and with that comes a certain mood of otherworldliness, melancholy, and unease. While believability of the environment is important — hence our use of photogrammetry — it cannot dominate the artistic intent. It’s nothing new in art. True Detective TV series is a good example. It’s obviously something believable and with that extra touch of authenticity, but at the same time it’s highly stylized, soft, and impressionistic, with that famous yellow tint. So we created our Red Creek Valley that looked and felt like a real place… and then we had to remove bits and pieces of that realism and added some post-processing and shader effects that made it less mundane. You still feel the wind in your hair, but you also feel there’s something special, something supernatural about the valley. 5.) We Forgot What the Game Was All AboutIt’s often said about game development that you never know the exact destination, just the general direction, and “pretending otherwise is costly and painful.†These are very true words, and one of the reasons why we never produced a detailed game design document for the game. Our design started with a certain idea of what happened to Ethan Carter. And then it took us a year of design and story-writing to get to the point where the story told was exactly what we wanted it to be. However, all these months of writing made us lose perspective on what’s the real core, the real heart of the story. We remember writing a very long e-mail to our writers, Tom Bissell and Rob Auten, explaining that even though we know how to get to the ending, we’re still unsure of how to explain everything that the player experienced. And to wrap up the project, we need that final push, that one explanation that unites everything into a coherent tale. We proposed three different takes on the detective’s journey, and sent that wall of text to the writers. The answer was just one sentence. “Hey, but wasn’t the original idea that [this and that happened]?†We looked at each other and laughed. Yes, yes it was, and it was the perfect story. We just kind of forgot about it and for some reason moved on to new proposals and new solutions. It’s very easy to get carried away like that when you spent two years on a game. You get so used to the old ideas that after a while they’re no longer as exciting as the new ones, and the new ones are exciting just because they’re new, not because they’re better. These five stories from behind the scenes are just a few examples of the confusing, wonderful process that game making is. And trouble or not, we love every second of it.After well over two years of hard work The Vanishing Ethan Carter is finally here, and it’s the most disciplined, but also the most creatively liberating thing we have ever done. We hope you’ll like this supernatural mystery when it hits PlayStation Store on July 14th. View the full article

Hello PlayStation community — this is John Warner, lead developer at Over The Moon Games. Two years ago I started creating a game based around a core idea — what if you played as an artificial intelligence on-board a futuristic combat suit, but the human inside the suit was injured and unable to move? What would you do? In The Fall, the answer is simple: take control of the suit and drag the lifeless, unconscious human inside of it towards medical help. Two years later, The Fall is complete. I’m glad to announce that it’s every bit as weird as I had hoped it would be, and I’m happier still to announce that The Fall will *ahem* descend onto PS4 in just a few short weeks, on July 14th. If you like games that allow you to explore, we think you’ll enjoy The Fall. We took that solid sense of exploration that some games do so well, and layered gameplay on top, so it’s only by understanding the world around you that you’ll solve The Fall’s many unusual puzzles. It’s not all searching and story though; our AI protagonist is built for action, so get ready for some fun gunplay as A.R.I.D (our hero) shoots her way through an army of corrupt, faulty robots. But wait — I come bearing news! We wanted to add something special to mark our release on the PS4. So far, The Fall has been received well by critics. It is, of course, an incredible honour to make something that connects with anyone on any level, so we thought that we should celebrate by adding a developer commentary, to open up our process a little bit, and share with fans our thoughts about the game: how we made it and why we made the choices that we did. When The Fall launches this July 14th, it’ll include this new developer commentary for your listening enjoyment. At Over The Moon, we have a lot of fun discussing ideas and sharing them with players, so our hope was to load The Fall with as many thought-provoking elements as possible. We want to know if you think we met our goal, and if The Fall provoked any thoughts from you. So what were our goals then? For the most part, The Fall was an experiment with story-gameplay integration. As ARID is given challenges that are outside of her operating parameters, players must also think outside the box, by breaking rules and finding loopholes. For example, ARID must protect her pilot, but what happens if she needs to briefly put him in danger to ultimately progress? The Fall encourages players to find loopholes in ARID’s rules, and as she develops as a character, players follow her every step of the way. At least, that’s the goal. Ultimately, you’re the one to decide if we met our mark, and you can let me know this July 14th, when The Fall *ahem* lands (I know, I’m terrible) on PS4. View the full article

A love of the finer things is one of the few ways a career criminal can celebrate success — something the high-end retailers of Rockford Hills and beyond know all too well. With an outbreak of Heists hitting the city recently, merchants have rushed to stock their shelves and showrooms with exotic collectables to accommodate Los Santos’ new class of heavily armed and upwardly mobile professionals. Part 2 of The Ill-Gotten Gains Update for GTA Online delivers desirable new vehicles, unforgiving new weapons, and clothes to make you stand out in a crowd. For the unconventional, the Coil Brawler is a luxury sports-styled off-roader with raised suspension and a 400 horsepower engine that will muscle its way over any terrain. If top speed is what matters most, the Progen T20 is among the fastest cars to ever arrive in Los Santos, while the Dinka Vindicator motorcycle adds agility and speed, featuring a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) that stores energy from braking and delivers a burst of speed on activation. For a level of refinement that only dirty money can buy, the Lampadati Toro screams sophistication — a speedboat crafted with the finest timber from protected rainforests, six-inch lacquer finishing and twin v12 engines. Meanwhile, a range of exotic weaponry hits Ammu-Nation with the wood-finished Marksman Pistol, a single-shot weapon with more stopping power than a pump action shotgun or the slightly more personal, solid gold Knuckle Dusters. For those who prefer to wear their status as conspicuous consumers, the iFruit Snap Watch adds a hint of tech savvy to your wrist, or opt for a more classically opulent timepiece with the Medici Radial or Covgari Universe — all available at retailers across Los Santos alongside a massive selection of new apparel and jewelry for men and women. In other news, The Ill-Gotten Gains Update Part 2 brings the release of the new radio station, The Lab to GTAV. Hosted by Dr. No and the Chemical Bro., The Lab features new tracks created by The Alchemist and Oh No and inspired by their work on the original score for GTAV, with guest appearances from Killer Mike, Little Dragon, Earl Sweatshirt, Phantogram, Freddie Gibbs, and more. To help get you into one of their new vehicles, the esteemed salesmen at Legendary Motorsport are offering a one-time 25% rebate on your next qualifying purchase this week (July 8th – 15th). All you need to do to qualify for this special limited-time offer is have your email address registered and verified with the Rockstar Games Social Club, be a member of the Rockstar Games Mailing List and join a Crew. The cash from the Legendary Motorsport rebate will be deposited in your in-game Maze Bank account by Sunday, July 19th. To fulfill these requirements, login to your Social Club profile. If your profile already meets these three requirements, just visit Legendary Motorsport in-game and purchase your new ride. Play the latest update for GTA Online now. View the full article

It’s a new month and a new look for PlayStation Now! We’ve completely redesigned the PS Now subscription app on PS4 to create a richer, more visual experience that makes it even easier for you to browse the catalog of 125+ games available. In the new app, you’ll see curated categories of games organized by theme, as well as more detailed game pages with descriptions, images, and videos. And in order to celebrate this milestone, we are also adding an extra sixth bonus game to our usual five new game monthly lineup: Resistance 3. To launch the newly revamped PS Now subscription application on PS4, simply click on the PS Now icon in the content launcher on the home menu of your PS4. As always, new members can register for a free 7 day trial via your compatible PlayStation console, on your enabled Sony Blu-ray player, Sony TV, or Samsung Smart TV, or right here on the web. Here are the new games for the month of July: Infamous Festival of Blood Vampires swarm New Marais, and revered superhero Cole MacGrath has been bitten. To save his soul and city, he has just one night to find and kill the head vampire. Featuring hours of new gameplay, themed environment settings and new characters/enemies, Festival of Blood explores the darker side of the Infamous universe. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One What do you get when an evil mastermind’s plan to destroy his three biggest enemies goes horribly wrong? You get a massive — and wacky — space-bound adventure featuring an unlikely partnership of heroes and villain. Play alone or in co-op multiplayer as Ratchet, Clank, Qwark or Dr. Nefarious, each with their own unique skills and an arsenal of weaponry. Resistance 3 America is lost. 4 years after the end of Resistance 2, dishonorably discharged Sentinel Joseph Capelli is in hiding from the Chimeran Menace with other survivors, including his new wife and young son. But when Dr. Fyodor Malikov arrives with the opportunity to deliver a blow to the occupying Chimeran force, Capelli must leave his family and journey the harrowing road from Oklahoma to New York City. Along the way, he’ll encounter the remnants of humanity left in the aftermath of the brutal Chimeran invasion. Sound Shapes Equal parts instrument and game, Sound Shapes gives everyone the ability to make music. Play through a unique campaign that fuses music and artwork into a classic 2D platformer, featuring artwork by Pixeljam, Capy, Superbrothers and more, with music by I Am Robot and Proud, Jim Guthrie and Deadmau5. Then, create your own unique musical levels with all of the campaign content. Wheel of Fortune Spin the wheel and solve the puzzle with America’s Favorite Game Show! Wheel of Fortune captures the spirit of the popular TV show. Create your own character and experience Wheel of Fortune as never before. Solve puzzles to earn PS3 Trophies and become the game’s big winner! Super Mega Baseball Hammer Longballo and a friendly cast of semi-athletic baseball stars invite you out to the ballpark for a blazing fast, ultra-responsive game of hardball. Super Mega Baseball is easy to learn, but you’ll want to master jumping, diving, wall-catches, power swings/throws and cut-off plays to prevail in season mode versus the CPU, or to dominate your friends in local multiplayer. That’s it for July! We hope you love playing this month’s lineup, and for the PS4 owners out there, tell us what you think of the new subscription experience — we hope you are as excited to try it out as we are to finally share it with you. To check out the full list of games and supported devices for PS Now, visit http://www.playstationnow.com/. We’ll be back next month with more games and more announcements! View the full article

It’s happening! As you read this post, players all over the world are starting to play our sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, and our labor of love, Rocket League; with even more players joining in as they take advantage of our free status if they’re members of PlayStation Plus. We’ve poured our heart and soul into Rocket League, and we’ve done everything we can to make it the best game possible — whether it’s dedicated servers, crossplay with PC users, 10 billion-plus customization combinations, an all-new Season Mode, four-player splitscreen, eight-player online, a “cameras anywhere†replay viewer, Garage items from other PS4 and PC games, secrets, and of course, the PS4-exclusive vehicle, Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal. It’s all in there and ready to be played! As a special surprise for today’s launch, we’re also pleased to announce that Ranked matches will join our previously-announced Unranked and Private matches starting immediately! Competitive players have been begging us for this feature since our beta, and now, we’re happy to give it to you! Speaking of which, the first several weeks of Ranked play is officially known as “Pre-Season,†which will allow players to test themselves while learning how our system works. “Season 1″ will formally kick off sometime in August. But that’s not all. We have BIG plans for Rocket League and our players, which is why you can expect to see plenty more from us over the next several weeks, months, and hopefully, even years. We are already putting the finishing touches on our first paid add-on pack, “Supersonic Fury,†which will add two new cars and several more surprises later this month. Even better: our first DLC map, inspired by the classic Battle-Cars arena, “Utopia,†is almost done as well and will be available in July. And, like all of our future maps, it will be 100% free. But we’ll have more on that soon. Finally, on behalf of everyone here at Psyonix, thank you. Thank you very much to our new and existing fans that have shown us why we love our jobs. Thank you for supporting our game and keeping us going. And thank you for making it all worthwhile. We couldn’t have done it without you. Now, go have fun! View the full article

Hello, PlayStation Nation! PlayStation has given me access to the Blog again to announce that the premiere episode of Conversations with Creators is now available on PlayStation Store on your PS4 and PS3 for free, and at the YouTube link below! For the first conversation, I sat down and spoke with four guys from Bungie: Jason Jones, Jason Sussman, Luke Smith, and Ryan Ellis. We discussed the origins of Destiny, the challenge and excitement of game creation, their upcoming release of Destiny: The Taken King, and what inspires them each day to improve their massive sandbox world… They all had some really interesting and inspiring things to share with me about their creative process. I left this conversation with a new appreciation for the creation, development, and management of one of the biggest and most popular gaming worlds in the PlayStation universe. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did. Also, Bungie has declared that today is Bungie Day. To celebrate this totally not made up holiday that is a real thing, PlayStation Store will have special offers for Destiny Expansion 1: The Dark Below, Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves, and the Destiny Expansion Pass. These offers will be available on PlayStation Store this afternoon. Alright, that’s it! Thanks for reading, thank you PlayStation for letting me drive the blog for a little bit, and I hope you enjoy the show. Happy Bungie Day! Your pal, Wil Wheaton View the full article

Hark, Guardians! Meet the newest member of the PS4 family, the Limited Edition Destiny: The Taken King PS4 Bundle available on September 15. See Full Gallery The package will include a white Destiny-inspired 500GB Limited Edition PS4 system and a physical copy of Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition, which includes Destiny, Expansions I and II, and The Taken King. You’ll also get an upgrade to the Digital Collector’s Edition, which includes the following content: three exotic Guardian class items with XP bonuses, three classic-specific emotes, three armor shaders, as well as the early access weapons pack. As you can see, the design showcases a map of the cosmos in silver with the Guardian’s crest set in gold right in the center – a beacon of hope in a besieged solar system. If you watched PlayStation’s E3 Press Conference, you know that Destiny: The Taken King adds a gigantic amount of new content. Highlights include a new Campaign adventure complete with a new story, new Guardian sub-classes with new Supers, new activities, new rewards, new weapons, new PvP maps, and much, much more. If you haven’t jumped into Destiny yet, this is a great opportunity to catch up since it gives you all content from launch. Also, existing players on PS3 can update to this version on PS4 without losing any progress. And of course, PS4 owners score access to fresh PlayStation-exclusive content*: a co-op Strike (Echo Chamber), a PvP multiplayer map (Sector 618), three legendary gear sets (Hesperos, Azoth Bend, and Neuroghast), plus an exotic scout rifle (the Jade Rabbit). We wanted to imbue the new Limited Edition Destiny: The Taken King PlayStation 4 Bundle with the same aesthetic beauty Bungie has lavished upon its new world. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below! *Timed exclusive until at least Fall 2016 View the full article

What’s up, everyone? With the first beta for Street Fighter V fast approaching on July 23rd, we felt that this would be the perfect time to let you all know what you can expect when you log in — and also answer some questions that fans have voiced as of late. The first beta kicks off on July 23rd at 6:00 PM Pacific for 5 days and is exclusive to PS4 users. The primary purpose of this beta is to test the online net code, as this is something that Capcom is taking very seriously with Street Fighter V. The data that we receive from this beta will help us to improve the net code in the final product, so we thank you in advance for participating in the beta. Here are some other details about the beta: CharactersThroughout the course of the beta, all 6 characters will be available. This means that players will be able try out all the characters that were present on the E3 build. To set expectations clearly, the beta will roll out with four characters playable immediately, with Birdie and Cammy becoming playable on Saturday, July 25th. The reason for their delayed release is that in addition to testing out the net code, we’re also testing out our new content delivery system Gameplay FlowWhen players boot the game up and go past the start screen, they’ll be taken to the character select screen. Players should choose the character they would like to fight others with, as they will not be able to select a different character before heading into battle. Once they select their character, players will be placed into training mode while an opponent is found. Upon finding an opponent, players will be transported back to the versus screen and begin their match shortly thereafter. After the match is complete, players will then be brought back to the Grid where they will go back into queue for the next match. Unfortunately there will be no local versus mode during this beta. Once again, the primary purpose of this beta is to test the online functionality. StagesWhile players are awaiting their match, they’ll be training in the Grid. Versus matches will take place in either the Bustling Side Street (China), Terminal Station (London), or in the brand new stage the Forgotten Waterfall. Each of the stages has been inspired by various locales throughout the world with the Forgotten Waterfall’s inspiration being directly pulled from New Zealand. Now that you know what to expect, players should read up on how the new battle systems work to get ready for battle. For those interested in signing up for the beta, please read the instructions below and follow those which pertain to your region.North America: Supported Countries: United States, Canada Users can get guaranteed Beta access by pre-ordering the product from the following retailers: GameStop / Amazon / Best Buy / PSN Beta redemption keys will be e-mailed from the retailer you pre-ordered at starting on 7/20 (Pacific time). Nearly 30 years ago Morak first took his place in the Gauntlet to shape it to his will and torment any adventurer daring to brave its depths. Last year he made his re-appearance to challenge champions on PC, and your cries for more ways to thwart his evil plans were heard. Today it was decreed that the heroes of Gauntlet must travel to a new realm, and coming August they will finally descend the dungeons on PS4! Gauntlet: Slayer Edition will be priced at $19.99 and eager adventurers will be able to get their hands on Mordok’s Screaming Hammer and Reaper’s Visage Helm for the Warrior by pre-ordering the game starting today on PlayStation Store. Invade the Darkness! The classic Gauntlet four-player co-op action returns in a completely new experience. Play as one of four distinct heroes in an intense, monster-filled dungeon brawler, with a combination of both uniquely built and randomly generated levels to explore. Battle the endless hordes of foes as you and your friends fight for treasure and glory via both local and online co-op multiplayer. And now a note from Emil Englund, Game Director, Arrowhead Game Studios: “Hello there, I am here today to tell you that you were right. Yes, as many of you have already theorized, we will be releasing Gauntlet: Slayer Edition on PS4. This has been in the works now for a while and it’s been so frustrating not being able to just tell everyone the news. Gauntlet is simply a game that feels right at home on PS4. This however, will not just be a straight port, but a stronger, cooler, and more slayer-y version of the one we released on PC. We’ve been shaping up a lot of the assets in the game, both Characters and Environments, as well as improving on the game mechanics. This time around, we wanted to explore the Heroes and their Abilities more in-depth giving them a bigger toolset for players to explore, as well as a new Game Mode in which to exercise their rights as self-proclaimed monster slayers. Since Hero Equipment plays a larger role now, we have reworked the loadout mechanic so that it can be done by four players simultaneously and regardless of game mode. For the story campaign we wanted to give the feeling that you are descending deeper and deeper into the Gauntlet, while at the same time giving players more control over level selection. We have also pushed the differences in each environment more, increasing variation both visually and in monster encounters. That’s some of the stuff we’ve been working on these past months, but more details to come in following blog posts. On a sidenote, this release is particularly exciting for us here at Arrowhead, since this will be the second game we release on PSN this year, after Helldivers (Yay!).†In upcoming posts we will get into more details about the development of Gauntlet for PS4. Tell us about your very best Gauntlet moments through the years in the comments; we love those “war stories!†Or shoot us a question and I will try to respond to anything I can. Prepare to Invade the Darkness this summer! View the full article
