  1. Invest in an external hard drive ($50-$100) or even a large size USB Flash Drive. Unless you have a huge iTunes library you should be able to fit all your music and written documents on a 4 GB and definitely on an 8 GB flash drive. How many songs are in your library? eBay has 8 GB flash drives anywhere from $5 to $20. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1311&_nkw=8gb+usb+flash+drive&_sacat=See-All-Categories You could also get more memory if you need it to save that stuff. Once you have all that saved on separate memory wipe all the programs and other documents except the necessary OS stuff. My computer was being funky about a year back and I did this and it did wonders for my speed.
  2. Prane, I am surprised you are not a fan of the dv6000. I have the same model, but got it right before Windows converted to Vista so I still have XP. I have had it for over three years and have never run into any serious issues. I often run video editing software, photoshop and go live all at the same time and its still pretty fluid. Do you think completely wiping the hard drive and starting with a clean slate may help?
  3. Do you know the exact model? I can offer more help if I know what jacks and options that the TV has.
  4. This is from my house, my college speed is way faster. Good old U of I ;D.
  5. Socom 2-- +| SHADOW (before I was in Shadow Ops, kind of ironic LOL) Socom 3/CA-- _.-MAVERICK-._ PS3-- MAVERICK3324
  6. Everything you heard in the video was through proxy chat. I thought that made it that more amusing and shows how hard we we're laughing when we were doing it. Thanks for all the feedback, I am glad you guys liked it.
  7. On Thursday Night, Krazykilla, Wishmewell, Goose and I got a little bored with traditional SOCOM. We thought up crazy ways to have knife battles/kill ourselves/blow ourselves up off buildings. I am sure you will laugh at this video, if not by the antics, then by the laughter you can hear in proximity chat. It was about 4 CST when we were doing this, and I was laughing so hard that my mom woke up and told me to be quiet. Let me know what you guys think!
  8. After extensive discussion with another [sHO] member, we were able to resolve the problem. He set me up with two programs that I have never heard of before Tuneup Utilities 2008 and a special program to uninstall corrupted .NET framework. Whatever the problem was, it was within the .NET framework. We were able to clear off the corrupt version of the framework, which in turn allowed me to download the correct version, then reinstalled SVM Platinum and it all worked out. I appreciate the responses and support for those of you who came to my assistance here, it certainly did not go unnoticed, so thank you very much. I am really happy that all is well (at least for now) with my laptop.
  9. Banshee, I have tried downloading the new netframe work 3.0 and 3.5 as well as uninstalling 2.0, and none of it has been successful. When I try to Install 3.0 or 3.5, this message appears. COW, I was able to get the location that you mentioned and find the error, unfortunately, it did not help me much. Here is an image of what the error box looks like, I do not have a clue what to google. After searching some more, I find another proposed solution on a forum, and my dad (who is a software programmer) thought that might help. I ran dos command "chkdsk c: /r" and upon boot up, corrupt data files on my C: drive were located and fixed. Instead of getting the old error regarding my software, I am now getting this error. Naturally, I jumped back onto the Microsoft site and again tried to install .NET Framework. and got the same message. I get the feeling this could be a virus corrupting .NET framework. Any ideas?
  10. All you tech gurus, I come asking helping. I am having issues with my editing software. My software is Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0. It is a legal copy purchased from Sony online. I have ran it for about 9 months without a single issue. I am running Windows XP Home Edition on an HP Pavillion dv6000, and I have been completely updated through windows. Yesterday I went to go edit some SOCOM footage, and got this error: "An error occurred starting Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. Error 0x80070017 (message missing) Details: Failed to intialize script host." I have tried absolutely everything I know to fix an error. I started by Googling it and found that a simple reinstall should work. I followed the troubleshoot section of Sony step by step to uninstall the product, then reinstall. I went to boot it up, and again received the error. Upon rebooting my machine from the uninstall process I received this error: "Error parsing C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\config\machine.config Parser returned error 0x80070017" Seeing that the numbers were identical I googled Error 0x80070017, and found out this information: -2147024873 - ERROR_CRC Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I do not have the slightest clue what that means or how I can fix it. I tried to uninstall and reinstall my Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 and it claimed that it could not be uninstalled due to a 2318 Error. ANYBODY that can lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and let me know if you have any questions or need further info.
  11. No doubt it was intense, but I could do without the 10 minute rounds. As the horseman I hid the whole game and did not fire my gun once. Most of the time I was very bored, and felt like I could not help the team in any way. It was either watch them win a round, or be wait to be killed. Maybe it also made a difference that our match was 3v3 because both teams had a guy that could not make it, but for me it was frustrating more than enjoyable. Maybe things will change when I am not the horseman.
  12. I agree, accept not Culpepper, I don't think he will fit their system, not to mention he is retired. I am thinking Kelly Holcomb or Tim Rattay in the free agency. I also could see them trying to trade for another team's solid backup such as Billy Volek from the Chargers, Mark Brunell from the Saints, or Gus Frerrote from the Vikings. We shall see.
  13. Sorry for the lack of a response. As I stated in that more detailed PM, I will be relinquishing my spot. I apologize for any inconveniences this caused the creators or any other staff. Some things have come up, including the start of college and the breakdown of my PS3 and although I do feel honored to be given this opportunity, I do not feel right consuming a spot that will not go to good use.
  14. Good Catch PB, that was a typo on my part. Although, there are two mammals that in fact lay eggs, the Duck-billed Platypus as you stated, and the Echidna, a small spiny mammal. http://www.americazoo.com/goto/index/mammals/1.htm That was a bad typo, I apologize and I hope you didn't tell your daughter that MaCoo :-X.
  15. Hey guys, last night I went to play COD4 and some crazy shit happened. I turn on my PS3 and everything is running perfectly fine and dandy. Then all of a sudden my audio stops working. So I flip the input to cable and cable tv's audio is perfectly fine. So I sign off and reboot to fix the sound. The reboot takes FOREVER. The green and blue lights flashed for a good 10 min before finally flipping to red. When I turn the PS3 back on, the sound is good and I am relieved, until I notice that there is no option to choose COD4 as the game. I reboot again, and still no COD4. I try a number of things to reboot, put the disc in and out, and still no dice. I put MLB the Show 08, and still no option to pick the disc. By now, I am dreading the terrible bluray disc breakdown that has plagued many PS3s. I have tried a number of times to reboot the machine and I still can't get it to work. I have also done some research online trying to find out if others have had this problem. Many say they tried reformatting and it did not work, so I am reluctant to do so. I had one guy advise me to get a DVD Lens cleaner for $10 and see if that works. I think the DVD Lens cleaner is the way to go, and I am praying that my Blu Ray player did not break. If it did break, I am really screwed because the store that I got my PS3 is over 3 hours away (I am at school now) and I do not have a car. Any suggestions or advice please hit me up, I am all ears.
  16. I really hope they go away from the route that CA took where claymores and mines could not be blown up by rifle bullets or grenades. I remember many games on Anchorage demo where we would have 7 or 8 guys lined up in the hallway because the other team had one guy with a claymore on the hallway and one guy on the water and you couldn't do shit because you couldn't blow up the claymore with a nade. Eventually, we sacrificed a lamb and told a newer guy to run through and get blown up by the claymore so the rest of us could flood through. LOL good times.
  17. Over the summer, I had no problem going to bed around 4-5am, and getting up at 8am and going to work. I worked as a camp counselor so I was constantly on the move and active, so falling back asleep was not a big issue. I am now back at school and went to class on 5 hours of sleep and could not keep my eyes open. I now try to get at least 6.5 hours when I have an early class, but when I don't have any obligations I love to sleep until I wake up. Unfortunately, sometimes that is too much and makes me tired again LOL.
  18. As you know, I am not a parent and only 18, but I was a camp counselor with 1st-5th graders throughout the summer, so I will give this one a crack. Let me know if it is any help. Animal- Animals are any living, moving and breathing thing on earth that is not a plant. Even Humans are considered a type of animal. Dog- A type of animal that lives in houses and are pets for people. They are friendly and nice animals with four legs, a tail and fur. When they are happy, they will lick people and wag their tail, when they are mad, they will bite and bark loudly. There are a lot of different types of dogs, with different color fur, different sizes and different shapes. Wolf- A wolf is a big dog that does not live in houses. Wolves live in forests and mountains. They are bigger than normal dogs, and have bigger teeth because they have to catch their own food. Coyote- A coyote is another big dog that does not live in houses. Coyotes mostly live in the desert, and like the wolf, have bigger teeth because they have to catch their own food. People believe that when there is a full moon, coyotes howl at it. Fox- A fox is another wild dog that does not live in houses. It is much smaller than the coyote and wolf, but still has sharp teeth for eating the food it can find. Foxes live all over the world including mountains, forests, towns, deserts and snowy places like the north pole. Insect- An insect is simply another word for a bug. The reason they are called insects is because their bodies are broken into different parts. ****(I don't know what definition you want for this one, sometimes insects are any inverterbrate (without a backbone, that is segmented. A more precise definition refers to an arthropod, which means it has an exterior shell, that has a head, abdomen and thorax, and ONLY 3 pairs of legs and one or two pairs of wings. The second definition would not include all bugs, it would leave out Spiders, Caterpillars, Centipedes...ect.)**** Mammal- Although many mammals have fur, lay eggs and breathe air, what makes a mammal is something called a mammary gland. The mammary gland allows the mammal to make milk in order to feed, and take care of its babies. ***( I think it is important to try and explain about the mammary gland. I actually just went over this in my college Animal Science course, and not one student knew the exact definition of a mammal, including myself. Answers like live birth, fur, and breathe air came up, but none of those specifically describe mammals. I was always told fur was the defining factor when I was little and until a couple days ago, still thought that.)*** Reptile- A reptile is an animal that has cold blood and scales. Cold blood means that their blood cannot warm up on its own like mammals. In order to warm their blood up, reptiles go out into the sun and sit really still. Also, most reptiles lay eggs to make babies. Hope this helped!
  19. WOW! This is mind blowing to me. My immediate neighborhood in the suburbs of Chicago is really clear, very few offenders. I then looked up my neighborhood on campus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and there are a significant more amount there, including three rapist very close to the edge of campus. It is so disheartening to see so many though. It truly is sad.
  20. Thank you all for the support! It is really helping me, I climbed nearly 100 places in a matter of 2 days! I only need to crack the top 100 for my entry to be eligible for judging and the prize scholarship. To address a few of the other comments/statements. It was her choice to come with. Several other people were supposed to join us, and bailed last minute. We let her know that it would only be us 5 and she was cool with it and we all still had a blast. So . No I do not, please check your PMs for more detail. i was gonna ask if we could vote twice' date=' well i just did my second vote. ;D [/quote'] You can actually vote daily, and thank you, I really appreciate your efforts Once again guys, thank you for all the support! If I win this scholarship it is now over $1,000 dollars that the UF Community has helped me win for school. THANKS!
  21. EST is one hour ahead of CST. Thank you Mr. Broken Record who posts information that was JUST POSTED.
  22. Well, with those times, you are not going to break any records...because people are going to be on at different times. 10:00 PM CST does not coincide with 9:00PM EST and 6:00 PM PST. It would have to be 8:00 PM CST, and 7:00 PM MST in order for everybody to be here at the same time.
  23. Once again, I am looking to the UF community for scholarship help. As some of you may know, next year I am headed off to college at the University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Due to the cost of attending the school, I have done some searching for scholarship money. Through my search I came across a website called Brickfish.com. Brickfish runs several campaigns asking participants to submit videos and photos that can then be voted on, reviewed, and supported. There are several different prizes that entries can win per campaign. Some prizes are by reviews and votes which add up to score, and some are by "viral" which means the publicity it gets across the web. I recently entered a campaign called "What's Your Summer Sizzle?" where participants can enter a video/photo/blog of their summer and how it has been sizzling. To view a complete list of prizes for this particular campaign please click here http://www.brickfish.com/Lifestyles/Summer The link to my entry can be found below. You can help me towards the "viral prize" by simply clicking on the link. If you have a couple extra minutes I encourage you to vote and leave a review after clicking the link (you can do this without registering). Every little bit helps! I would like to thank anybody viewing this post for their time and thank you to everybody who helps me out in advance! Any questions please feel free to ask! http://www.brickfish.com/Pages/VideosSeries/VideoView.aspx?vid=6753_73478648&pid=318810&scid=311 Thank you! ---Mav
