To any UF clans that does gamebattles on socom confrontation
TOW-19 replied to a topic in Playstation
As a courtesy, as Urgent Fury extends it to other tourneys such as GameBattles, please refrain from ANY advertising of another tournament site on this forum. It's just disrespectful. We appreciate your adhering to this matter from now on, both publicly on our forum as well as through our private message service.- 3 replies

The Official rules for UF BLACK are now updated, complete and listed in the BLACK TOURNEY INFO SECTION. http://www.urgentfury.com/uf_forum/index.php?topic=11083.msg107730#msg107730 As a convenience, all changes and additions are listed in red. Please make sure your entire clan reads these rules before entering their first UF BLACK war. Good luck to all clans. Wars begin Oct. 28th, next week. Schedules will be up shortly.

So.....from what I'm gathering just now online in a room test..... You can now set up a private room, BUT, when you set up the private room it doesn't appear on the server list of rooms that a player can join. There is no "password" needed anymore. The way to invite people into the room is to go to the friends tab at the bottom, send out messages to those players through SOCOM, and then wait for them to enter. Thing is, I just tested this, and accepting the message doesn't bring you to the room. I just tried this with a player and after they accepted it, nothing happened. It was when he went to the Central server that he THOUGHT I would be in (because there were fewer players in it at the time) and clicked to enter Central 3, it immediately pulled him into my private room. He didn't even have a chance to LOOK at the server list of individual rooms. It just whisked him into mine. Is this pretty much the scenario with private room forming and joining now? Does anyone experience something different when trying to do this?

Okay.....here's what I got after playing with it for about 3 hours tonight. PROS: - MUCH, MUCH more comfortable than the PS3 SOCOM bundle headset. The SOCOM headset arm is much too ridged and it sets uncomfortably inside the ear. The Darklite has an enlarged pad for the speaker and it sits OUTSIDE the ear. The arm is not flexible, but BENDABLE, making the Darklite a MUCH more better, gentler feel on the ear. - The voices coming through my Darklite sounded loud and clear. I was able to hear all of my teammates crystal clear and, upon asking them at about 3 different occasions, I was told I was loud and clear as well. - It looks like an ultimate ninja wizard warrior resting in the fetal position on your ear but still ready to attack at any time. - MUTING: What I LOVE about this mic is that, when you press its MUTE button, there is a reminder little tone that bleeps every 7-10 seconds reminding you that your mic is on MUTE. It doesn't leave you to figure it out for yourself when you realize no one can hear you. - There are TWO ways to charge it....through a USB cord they they provided and you can plug right into your PS3....OR....through another outlet plug/adapter that they also provide so that you can charge the headset straight from the wall. I like the convenience of having the choice, especially with my USB hub maxed out with two controller charge cords, a keyboard, a PS3 EYE and my SOCOM headset charger. Now, I won't have to go wired at all. When my Darklite runs out of juice, I'll just use the SOCOM headset until the Darklite recharges. CONS: - For some reason, it does not seem to work with the perk from the 2.50 update for the PS3 whereas you hit your mute button and it shows the battery life on the headset (like it does for the PS3 SOCOM headset). I believe it's a small price to pay but it still would have been cool to have. - Alas, I do not know how long the battery life is. I know the SOCOM headset says that it has up to 8 hours of talk time....the Darklite did not provide this information, although, I did game for about 3-4 hours tonight. Aaaaand, that's about it. No too many cons coming from me! I LOVE this headset and I recommend it to anyone. I'm glad I have it. SOCOM's headset just became my "backup" headset.

[HIT] and [a ].... You have until MONDAY NIGHT at 10pm CST to have whoever is going to be your clan's CLAN REP send me a PM stating so. If I do not receive a PM from your upcoming Clan Rep, then your clan will not be participating in the upcoming BLACK tourney. There are two other clans who I know are ready and waiting on-deck. If you belong to either of these two clans, you should get word out to your clan leader(s) and get this taken care of before the deadline. There are THINGS your Clan Rep needs to be doing right now and this tourney will not wait for them to get caught up when they are arriving late to the party. Thank you.

I would have switched it up, but BigMoney likes it on the bottom. Says he "doesn't like being in control" or something like that. He's funny.

HEY EVERYONE, THANK YOU! It was a nice surprise to see this. It's been a pretty good birthday weekend. Got that Darklite headset I told you all about (allowing me to look like the most dangerous assassin sitting alone in a living room in Illinois) and my Bears beat division rivals Vikings. Things tonight are GREAT! And I appreciate seeing the thread. "Happy 21st birthday......" Pffft. Everyone knows it's my 17th! ;D
-
Got the Darklite PS3 Bluetooth headset for my birthday today. Yeah, I know I already have a headset with the new SOCOM, but hey, it's a gift! ;D I'll be trying it out on Sunday online so for those wondering about it, I'll have a comparison report for ya. http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3-Darklite-Bluetooth-Headset-EX-01/dp/B0013YQYFM I just know the thing looks cool and when I wear it, I feel like I'm a love assassin from Jupiter or somethin'.
-
You speak as if that somehow beats my 4-time return of my PS3 to get MY final booty. LOL

We'll see at the end of four weeks, shall we?

Dub, though I appreciate the fervor in which you want to defend aspects of this game's release, bitching and not-bitching notwithstanding, one distinction should be made clear here...clear to you as well. Video gaming is not fun-n-games. It is a BUSINESS. They ask you for $59.99 in EXCHANGE for a product. You don't buy a fridge from Best Buy and not have the ice maker work the day you buy it. You don't buy a pair of shoes from Foot Locker and have it missing a set of laces. You don't buy a new Ford truck and have the glove box close properly only SOME of the time. I think where everyone's frustration comes from is the PRODUCT. They're fans...they CAN be disappointed. And with what we saw so far, they SHOULD be disappointed. Saying this was /6's first foray into SOCOM territory because they primarily made RPGs only is NO excuse for putting out what they did and how they did. When a company takes it upon themselves to make something, whether it's new or a continuation of something, they are expected to DELIVER. Are they cutting you a break on the price when you pick it up? Are they saying "hey, y'know....the servers are going to be fucked up for a few day. We appreciate you saving your money and paying for the product, but tell you what, why don't we knock off $5 from the tag because we're gonna cut you a break." No. They put out a product, they expect full payment. We put out our money, we, as consumers, expect a full experience. This shouldn't be this much of a combative thread, and I don't think anyone should be getting this heated, but I do believe that blame should be placed where blame is due. Hell, they gave you only FOUR new maps because they copied three other ones....you would think that while they were copying almost 50% of their game from previous SOCOM installments (a point that sores me the MOST when discussing this game's release), they could have also looked closely at what they would need to do for a proper release.

With the first 32 clans retrieving their official invitations for UF: Black now confirmed, we have our official line-up for the upcoming tourney. Schedules will arrive shortly. However, with 32 clans, we'll be seeing the action divided up into two divisions of 16 clans each. These 16 clans will battle it out in four weeks of season play along with a single-elimination tourney. The divisions are as follows: UF: BLACK RUBY DIVISION UF STAFF ADMIN FOR YOUR DIVISION: Uncle_Sid25 01: [DC] Dead Cell 02: [bOU] Black Ops Unit 03: [101] 101st Screaming Eagles 04: [OGC] Old Gentlemen's Club 05: [db] Death B4 Dishonor 06: [CDS] Charlie Don't Surf 07: [LTU] LTU-ARAS 08: [iLL] Top Billin' 09: [sxB] Skull & Bones 10: [<+>] Divine Knights 11: [JyK] Junkyard Killers 12: [-O-] The Outlaws 13: [cBs] Team Can't Be Stopped 14: [oNe] One of a Kind 15: [KOS] Organized Khaos 16: [aKr] Ass Kikrz Revivl UF: BLACK DIAMOND DIVISION UF STAFF ADMIN FOR YOUR DIVISION: Puddy_Tat 01: [503] 503 Bluntsmokers 02: [ U ] The Uprising 03: [WDA] Wardog Assassins 04: [.] Prowess 05: [AoV] Acts of Violence 06: [odc] old dude clan 07: [FBR] Ironstar 08: [RVN] Ravenfall 09: [-->] Don't Fuck Wit' 10: [THM] The Horsemen 11: [HIT] Homegrown Intel Team 12: [+30] 30AndUp 13: [cBF] Clan Blunt Force 14: [LPK] Lettin' Punks Know 15: [R&A] Rebel Assassins 16: [OWN] New World Order

The upcoming UF: Horsemen tourney, the 4-man cross-clan team season competition, will see its sign-ups going up during the middle of the upcoming Black tourney. This tourney allows players from all over the UF Community to band together in 4-man teams, regardless of clan ties, to see who truly is the pestilence, famine, death and war of the Urgent Fury Community. And now Urgent Fury, and hopefully many of its community members, will be keeping an even CLOSER eye on the competition, because Urgent Fury is announcing the prizes for the winners of the tourney. The last 4-man team standing when the season ends and the single-elimination playoffs are over will each get a brand new Playstation Eye USB camera for use with their PS3. These prizes for the winners are being brought to you by http://www.forestsgamebunker.com as they are sponsoring the first UF: Horsemen tourney as it storms out the gates! Entry fee per team of four is $10. Total prize package is worth over $150.00 ***Special teaser: with the upcoming announcement of a VERY cool "video section addition" to the Urgent Fury main website for all of the clans of UF, the PS3 Eye may become your clan's new best friend. Details, of course, will be coming in a few weeks. Please remember that 4-man team formations now has a section on the UF forum and members of the community are there now talking to one another about possible connections. You can dive into the action too. Here is the link: http://www.urgentfury.com/uf_forum/index.php?board=95.0 It's Urgent Fury's very first 4-man cross-clan tournament, so be a part of it! Official tourney rules will be released at the time of UF: Horsemen sign-ups. - TOW

LOL....of course you're still getting one. All Ronin winners' orders were placed when they won their tournament. Amazon shipped them out when they were ready, I suppose. I tracked the individual packages and have listed their estimated delivery dates from the USPS in accordance with the winners' real-name initials. Hope this helps: VB: Estimated to arrive on the 22nd. MS: Estimated to arrive on the 21st. DH: Estimated to arrive on the 21st. MB: Estimated to arrive on the 20th.

Ravenfall held its first Midnight Mass on the new SOCOM last night, Friday. The Mass started at 11pm CST. I logged off at 4am CST. I got dropped/froze only once, within the first hour. The other four hours, gravy. I was very happy to see the servers getting better as the days went on. Still, they SHOULD have had it right all along.

The following clans have accepted their invites to BLACK but have not yet had their choice in Clan Rep send a PM to me stating so. We're missing five. [iLL] [101] [HIT] [cBF] [a ] Please contact your clan mates or friends that need to take care of this. Thank you!

They need to at LEAST let us start PLAYING!

In the SOCOM game booklet, it was printed that one of the options in custom games would be the ability to turn OFF the option of having to switch mid-way through the map to play as the other side. This option, as of the game's release, is not able to be turned on or off at the room maker's discretion. This will not prove to be TOO much a hassle for the upcoming Black wars...we can write the rules around that...but this can and will be very problematic towards the TACMAP tourney...the having to switch sides when TACMAP tourneys are all about "home field advantage." Has anyone read anything on another forum (like Playstation's or Slant 6's) where they identified this problem with a potential date of fixing? (NOT to mention the whole making rooms with EVEN numbered rounds instead of ODD numbered rounds for a clear cut tie-breaker.....sigh)

I have found the leaning to be too unreliable for now. I don't know if it's because it's too touchy or I still have to get used to it. Popping from around the corner to hit someone running towards you takes timing. The leaning has been messing with that timing. I'm debating whether or not I'll be turning it off. I liked it MUCH better when they used to have the lean using the D-pad. ALWAYS reliable. (But then again....considering the servers.....maybe "reliable" wasn't what these guys were going for.....?) LOL

word I also dont see any tournament options or tabs, I dont have a calender or anything of that nature. pretty gay..... You know what's not gay? URGENT FURY! (We have tournaments) Ok, bye now. ;D

Hey guys.. I felt like addressing something..
TOW-19 replied to DK_MaluNYMets's topic in Playstation
Am I missing something here? I know someone typed "this isn't geared at anyone," but rarely is a post like this put up without some prompting. LOL Otherwise....yeah, long live the good sentiment. -
Yeah, no matter how you slice it, there's really NO excuse for this. None at all. It's not like they were releasing "Mr. Miggles Goes to Work." This is SOCOM. The biggest and more popular modern day shooter on the PS3. Didn't they THINK it'd be mobbed? Jeez.....

We will accept replies to UF: Black invitations in groups of EIGHT. This way, we know we will have balanced seasons and brackets. For every eighth accepted invitation, the 7 invites before that one, and including that one, will have officially made it into Black. We will close off entrants after every eighth invite....so essentially, the sooner you accept the better your chances of getting in. Spread the word to your clan and friends!

The podcast will be returning Nov. 1st, beginning our schedule of lengthened productions.

LOL...I doubt it.....everyone will be online playing SOCOM. Hell, I'm having to tear myself AWAY from it to get the invites out tonight. LOL
