I want to say that I'm really excited about this one starting....but then again, I'm pretty excited about ALL the new ones starting. '09 is going to be killer. And I've never said anything is going to "be killer" in my entire life. So...y'know........you know! ;D

Hello UF community! For years now, Urgent Fury has tested new clans coming to this tournament by way of an evaluation tourney dubbed 'UF: Black.' In order for a newcomer clan to enjoy all that UF has to offer, that clan had to enter into the UF: Black tourney. Now that UF: Black has graduated into a stand-alone, year-round, ongoing standings tourney, UF is left with no evaluation tourney to scan new clans looking for their place here at UF. Until now. Earlier last week, UF announced the upcoming UF: EVAL tourney without spilling too many details. We did that because it was essentially our smokescreen until this big announcement. The new evaluation tourney for UF will be dramatically different in layout as well as in name...so without further ado, let me explain the broader physics of what we will all come to know as UF: HELL WEEK! In the past, UF: Black was the eval tourney for UF that saw both new clans trying to make a name for themselves as well as vet clans staying sharp for an upcoming TACMAP tourney. UF: Hell Week will be the new evaluation process for ANY clan wanting to join this 'tournament country club' we all call UF. UF: Hell Week will see ONE new clan at a time being evaluated by our UF EVAL TEAM (of which sign-ups are still open) in a grueling one week trial by fire. Mon thru Fri, one war each night of the week, in 8v8 action! As long as the Hell Week clan can fully staff their wars that week and win at LEAST one out of the five wars, all while winning and losing with honor and dignity, then that clan will be welcomed into the UF community, able to participate in all the tournaments that UF offers. All veteran clans of UF are grandfathered in and will not have to go through Hell Week. Now, clans truly will wear their UF participation as a badge of honor after making it through some great UF gunners for an entire week! The first open trials and sign-up for UF: Hell Week will begin in December. For all clans looking for the glory of a UF tourney...WELCOME TO HELL. - Guidelines coming soon.

Being a die-hard Bears fan, I was tickled silly to see the Pack lose to the Saints last night on MNF. But what a hell of a game, huh?! I mean, the first half alone, ending at 17-14 was pretty exciting enough....but that second half was awesome entertaining to watch! The Saints (and the entire stadium) must of had a hell of a time. Deuce beating the franchise TD record, and the crowd and his teammates helping him celebrate...just a great game. And the Pack go 5-6...

BUMP We're still looking for a few great UF team players! Stay tuned TONIGHT for a special announcement regarding the future of the UF EVAL tourney, as that was a smokescreen name for the ACTUAL new evluation tourney coming to UF to replace UF: Black as Urgent Fury's evaluation process for new clans. We're still accepting apps from those who want to evaluate EVERY clan arriving at UF...in a very personal, in-your-face evaluation test. Compared to this new evaluation process, UF: Black as an evaluation tourney of the past will have proved to be a CAKE WALK. Soon, saying 'my clan belongs to Urgent Fury' truly WILL be a badge of honor worth mentioning, moreso than even now. News coming tonight. - TOW

Hey, that should be good news for a lot of Flash clan sites and such, right? Though I could SWEAR that just a few days ago I was on the Ravefall website and I watched the Flash go to work......unless I'm misunderstanding what this update is addressing...?

This is just a reminder to all UF veterans that there are many clans still missing from the Clan Network thread stickied up here on the Public Section. The banners are a great at-a-glance way for players, committed or free agents, to check out your site. That thread as well as the Clan List Network on the main UF website are two great tools offered to the clans of UF to help network your clan around the gaming arena, given to you as a courtesy for your continued support and participation here at Urgent Fury. If you are looking to put a banner up, please see the requirements and send me a PM. If you're looking to be included in the listing on the UF websitep there is a form there for you to fill out.

Yes, this evening. Only the person who put up your team's application will receive the link. It will not be sent to every single player of your team.
-
Every game treated here at UF will have its own EVAL team. So no, those participating will not be part of EVERY EVAL tourney going on. We don't want this to become a 'job' to the players that want to participate, only an extra privilege. And remember, we will be putting out new calls for new EVAL team with each month of Black, so there will be a rotation for those players who want to try it later down the line while giving those who are participating a chance to sit out whenever they like when/if their clan needs them focused on something else.
-
LOL...I would agree. But, as I haven't checked out the link yet, is this an ACTUAL credit card you can use anywhere, or is this something that's used solely with the Playstation store or something? That, I could understand. Looking on the bright side of things, though, considering how many parents nowadays rely on television and video games to babysit and sometimes even teach their children (y'know, instead of just taking the time to interact with their children themselves) we can now rely on Sony to teach our youth about fiscal responsibility. LOL

The invitations for the UF: Horsemen tourney have been posted in the application section of the forum. If your application has a response to it and has been locked, then your team has been invited to the UF: Horsemen tourney. Please have your team look over your invitation, as there are specific instructions on what will happen within the next 24 hours, and what needs to be taken care of by your team by the end of THIS week. Good luck to all teams invited to participate. We sincerely hope you enjoy every minute of it. - TOW

Sign-ups will remain open UNTIL tonight, so they are not closed yet.

If a UF veteran clan wishes to participate in the UF:EVAL tourney, we would not discourage them. In these scenarios, however, new clans will always get first consideration in slot constraints, veterans second. Besides, we're scheduling '09 so that we have a very healthy and constant rotation of various tourneys happening at any given time.

Well the creator created the thread, so I guess that means it's okay. LOL I forgot about that section. Never go in there. I'm moving it now.

Teams they have left on the schedule: Buccaneers Titans Vikings Colts Saints Packers SO.....we're back on "Dolphin Watch," but this season, the Dolphins aren't half bad and it seems the Lions want to do what the Dolphins couldn't manage last season, and that's go WINLESS. The teams up there are no pushovers, SO, will the Detroit Lions go 0-16 this season?

UF Community..... As you all know by now with our last announcement, UF: BLACK is graduating from the evaluation tourney of Urgent Fury to its own year-long standings tourney. It done growed up and moved to the big city! Because of that, many of you asked how UF would continue to evaluate new clans coming in to the community before they get the privilege of playing in our established contests here. The answer is simple: there will be a new evaluation tourney. We've come up with a pretty snazzy name for it too...... UF: EVAL ;D The new UF: EVAL tourney will be for all new incoming clans who wish to become a part of this Urgent Fury community. There will be an EVAL tourney for every game that UF gives a tournament treatment to. The UF: EVAL will run for 3 weeks with matches every Tuesday and Thursday at 9pm CST. The matches will be 7v7. They will remain NO-BOOM and there will be no playoffs. The goal here is simple. There is no "glory" for "winning it all" here in this UF: EVAL tourney. The tourney is for the sole purpose of its namesake...it's an evaluation of all new clans and whether or not they will be accepted into the UF community. With UF: Black taking a year-round rotation, as well as other tourneys like the TACMAP, Ronin, Horsemen and other contests going on, one may wonder how these new clans will get evaluated when everyone else is embroiled in all the other action UF has to offer. And the answer is: UF EVAL TEAMS. We would like to a team/roster of 18 UF veteran players to commit to being a part of a UF: EVAL Team. That's 18 players total who will comprise the team that will have first-hand knowledge of the new clans coming in and can evaluate them right in the field, on opposing sides. The 18 players can be from all the various clans of the UF community. There will be no unifying tag or anything, so clans need not worry that one of their players may be sporting different colors. There will be a team of 18 so that if some of the players have another UF war that night, there will be adequate numbers to fill in the gaps for a 7-man team for the night. We believe 18 great players from the UF Community itself will be an appropriate welcome to any clan looking to find out what UF is all about. ANY UF player from a participating UF clan may submit an application to be a part of this. We just ask that anyone submitting an app have the approval of their clan leader(s) first. By submitting an app, we are assuming you have this clearance already, as we will not be checking in on individual players and their clans. * Please note, Urgent Fury will be giving first consideration to all players in the UF: RANGER program who wish to submit an app. Call it a perk for the extra effort they give here in the Community. After that, all apps that we receive will be put into a random drawing and those lucky enough to be drawn will fill in the spaces, if any, left by the UF: Rangers. THERE WILL BE A NEW EVAL TOURNEY, NEW TEAMS AND A NEW DRAWING EVERY EVAL TOUR! So if you don't get picked the first time, keep submitting. Again, those who wish to participate will be thrown into a random draw. Each new batch of new clans is a new opportunity for you to be a part of the UF Eval Team. If you, as a player, are interested in this prospect, please cut-n-paste the following form onto a PM, fill it out, and send it to me, Undertow. We will accept applications up until 12-17-08. I will then hold the drawing to find out which players here in UF will comprise the 1st UF: EVAL Team for January. Thanks for reading and we hope you wish to be a part of the "screening" process here for the UF: EVAL. We can think of no one better than the committed players of UF themselves to evaluate those who wish to come play in their home away from home! - TOW ____________________________________________________ If you are interested in being a part of the UF: EVAL Team, please cut-n-paste the following form, fill it out, and send it as a PM to Undertow. Online player name: Clan Affiliation: Have you COMPLETED at least one complete tourney here at UF?: Do you admit that you have your clan leader(s) expressed approval to join?: Will you make yourself available more to than not during the time period of your tourney?: (We cannot have a team of 18 players who don't show up) Will you promise to keep it in your pants where it belongs?:

No disrespect, luchesco, but I find it hard to believe that a PS3 on STANDBY will drink up as much juice as a refrigerator that will periodically run a cooling motor inside itself every hour or half hour...y'know? Unless there's an article out there supporting this, I'm hard pressed to believe that one.
-
Nacku, why do you always have to lie all the fucking time? I agree with Sid here...when I'm not playing, my PS3 gets turned off that instant. When I want to play, I turn it on when I'm sitting down to play, not turning it on and then taking care of some other things before I sit. It's all attributed to preserving the life of my $399 investment. I realize that leaving it on for the research benefit option (its name escapes me at this moment) is a noble one indeed, but $400 is a lot of money to me, like most folks, and 2 can't be burning it away day after day like that. Although, I'm just a very energy-conscious person to begin with. There is never more than one light on in my house at a time, and its the light in the room that I'm occupying (unless I'm throwing a party of course), all of my small appliances are kept unplugged ubtil I need them and I use energy-efficient light bulbs all over my place. I try to do my part.

I agree that the PS3 would sell much better if it were priced lower. I don't quite know who Sony had in mind when they created the initial PS3. Sometimes it seems as if they didn't really generate a target audience for their unit like the other two companies did, but rather just tried to create this super-machine that technically outclasses the other companies' capabilities...but in doing so, rolled out a grossly overpriced system that certainly doesn't seem to justify itself with the majority of America (or the world for that matter) in our current global-economical climate and crisis. Maybe bad timing, maybe bad marketing. I'm still a die-hard Sony PS backer...have been since the PS2, the one I had for about 5-6 years that operated without fail and the system that I discovered Socom on. I don't think the PS3 will go anywhere but I do hope that valuable lessons are learned by Sony from this if there is to be a PS4....though it's hard to imagine that a company would put up a follow-up to their previous system with a dramatically reduced price. That could be construed by the public as Sony either putting out an inferior product to its predecessor OR that they're conceding that they made a mistake in the design of the PS3 and much of what it could do (and what you paid for it) was ultimately wasted and unneeded to begin with...and I don't see Sony willingly walking into that marketing trap.
