Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced that it will be releasing two new PlayStation 3 bundles in the territory to celebrate the launch of the new 80GB model. The first bundle is scheduled to hit stores on September 10, and will contain an 80GB machine, two new DualShock 3 control pads, in addition to a copy of Polyphony Digital's critically acclaimed racer, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The bundle will retail for approximately EUR 449. Finally, and in a move presumably targeted at the French Market, the second bundle will feature a 80GB PS3, a single DualShock 3 pad, and a copy of the film Bienvenue chez Ies Ch'tis on Blu-ray. Known as the 'Movie Pack', you'll be able to pick this up from October 29 for EUR 399.

Sony's policy of providing free network services for PlayStation 3 owners looks to have a bright future, with Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yohida confirming the company is looking to bring further diversified functionality to the console. "We're more open about approaching and bringing services in to PS3 and PSP," he stated. "We can't support all the needs of the consumer and there are great companies providing services on the PC already- so we're very open to provide the opportunity to those companies to reach our user base as well." No mention of any specific examples was stated, but with free Internet play and music video streaming in place it seems Sony will be looking to branch out to more outlandish content. "There are things we're looking at, and learning how we can provide a service without people having to pay," he continued. "But we still get our operation running with funding from somewhere so that we can maintain the level of quality we want." Advertising looks set to play a big part here

Warhawk fans rejoice: Incognito has today posted the new Warhawk v1.5 update live, which includes both trophy support and custom soundtracks (via in-game XMB) According to the company, there are 56 trophies all together, including trophy support for the additional booster packs. Also, some of the trophies are retroactive, unlocked based on your server-side stats. Gamers living in Europe may also download the new expansion, Warhawk Operation: Fallen Star as part of the new PSN update today. North American users will have access to the download later today when the U.S. PSN update goes live.

Sony has confirmed that US retail chain Gamestop will not be stocking pre-paid PSN cards until sometime in 2009. According to Kotaku, a Gamestop employee received a note from Sony stating that the new POS upgrade was initially planned for this year, but has been pushed back until next year. For the time being, PSN cards are only available at Pamida, Meijer and Speedway, with three new retail outlets being added in September. The three new stores that will be added include Riteaid, Blockbuster, and 7-Eleven.
