Hi there! I’m Jordan, one of the developers at Refract. Last year I announced that our survival racer Distance is coming to PS4. Since then we’ve been working hard to add things like random track generation, new story mode content, improved car customization, improved multiplayer features, and we spent some time optimizing so that Distance runs as smoothly as possible. Today, I can finally announce that we’ve also been working hard to bring Distance to PlayStation VR! This weekend we’ll be showcasing a playable version for the first time at PlayStation Experience in San Francisco! If you’ve never seen Distance before, it’s a survival racing game. Distance takes the intense action of arcade racing and places it in a mysterious, atmospheric world. The road is deadly with treacherous obstacles around every corner. Instead of doing laps on a loop, you’ll be trying to survive from point A to B. You pilot a unique car that allows you to boost, jump, rotate, and even fly. Instead of being constrained to the track, you can break away at any point and find your own path. You can even drive upside down or on buildings and walls. Virtual reality amplifies this by adding another dimension. You can now race through these chaotic tracks from the seat of the driver. PlayStation VR gives you an amazing sense of scale as you’re able to look into turns or glance over at other players in multiplayer. Once we started prototyping VR gameplay in Distance it was undeniable that getting a true feel for the jumps, flips, and flying is exhilarating. From a story-telling aspect, VR is thrilling since we can explore the game from the perspective of the driver, and who (or what) that is. We’ve redesigned our UI to work with a cockpit dash, and we added an “upside-down†moonroof to help when landing. Getting sliced by a laser is also (not surprisingly) even more exciting. We can’t wait to unleash Distance on PS4 in 2016. If you’ll be at PlayStation Experience be sure to drop by booth #2172! We’d love to have you be one of the first to try Distance on PlayStation VR. Feel free to toss out any questions in the comments! View the full article

Were you watching The Game Awards 2015 tonight? If you weren’t, you missed some great exclusive reveals and a wonderful music act – certainly one of my favorite bands in the last few years. But what I’m referring to is the reveal of a brand new cinematic clip from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End! The clip shows Nathan Drake meeting a new, decidedly less than friendly character. You can watch it again below: There’s much, much more to learn about Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in the next few months leading up to our worldwide release on March 18, 2016. If you are attending The PlayStation Experience in San Francisco this weekend, check out our Uncharted 4 panel on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00 PM, and hit the exhibit floor to play Uncharted 4 Multiplayer. We hope to see you there! View the full article

We’re just days away from PlayStation Experience 2015! Whether you’re lucky enough to make it out to the show in person, or are watching live from home, here are some tips to help you make the most of your weekend. Keynote Get Tickets & Book Hotel The PlayStation Experience Keynote will begin at 10:00am PT on Saturday, December 5th, but seating space will be limited. If you’re attending the show and want the best shot at a seat in the keynote auditorium, plan to show up bright and early. Doors for the keynote will open at 8:00am, but frequent convention-goers know all too well that lines can start building up well before that. PlayStation LiveCast Programming If you’re watching remotely, stick around after Saturday’s keynote! We’ll have more than 30 live game demos and developer interviews streaming on Twitch and live.playstation.com from 12:00pm to 9:00pm Saturday and 10:00am to 4:00pm Sunday. Stay tuned for the full LiveCast schedule. It’s a doozy! And we’ll be joined by the always-charming Anthony Carboni and Meredith Molinari. If you’re attending the show, be sure to stop by and watch in person! We’ll be joined by members of the World Wide Studios community team, who will be conducting fun interactive activities and gameplay sessions in between live segments. Panels Expect some all-star panels at this year’s PlayStation Experience, including a behind-the-scenes look at Uncharted 4, a peek into the future of gaming with PlayStation VR, a live recording of PS I Love You XOXO with Greg Miller and the Kinda Funny Games gang, and more. Within the app, you’ll find: A trackable program guide detailing all of the booths and activities at PlayStation Experience The ability to RSVP for PlayStation VR demos Exclusive PSN voucher codes and rewards that can be unlocked by checking in at various places throughout PlayStation ExperienceNOTE: To unlock these codes, you need to have registered for your badge with your PSN ID as recommended. If you did not do so, you can still add your PSN ID to your account by logging in here and going to the PSN section of your profile. A curated list of PlayStation.Blog articles coming out of PlayStation Experience An interactive map of Moscone West to help you find your way The app is available for download now, but will not be fully populated with PlayStation Experience items until closer to the show. That being said, we highly recommend downloading this app ahead of time and checking it out! PlayStation Collectible Card Series You may have seen this announcement a few weeks back, but in case you missed it – we’re debuting a brand-new set of collectible cards at PlayStation Experience this year. In addition to the game-specific cards you can collect by checking in at various booths, we’re also releasing a limited set of PlayStation Experience Trophy Cards. Just like on your PlayStation console, Trophy Cards will reward your PlayStation Experience feats. Here’s how to unlock each respective card: Bronze: Check in at 5 different locations at PlayStation Experience 2015 Silver: Check in at 10 different locations at PlayStation Experience 2015 Gold: Check in at 15 different locations at PlayStation Experience 2015, including the PlayStation Network booth and at least one panel Platinum: Attend the Keynote and check in at 15 locations at PlayStation Experience 2015, including the PlayStation Network booth, at least one panel, and Capcom Cup After you’ve met the requirements listed above, just head to the table next to the LiveCast Stage on the 2nd floor to collect your rewards. Keep in mind that Trophy Cards will be available in limited quantities. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! Playable Games Last month, we revealed the (nearly) full list of games that will be playable at PlayStation Experience 2015 — more than 130 in all. Go take a gander — it’s time to decide what you’re going to play first! And here’s a bonus: we can now confirm the full list of (currently announced) PlayStation VR titles that you’ll experience this weekend in San Francisco: Battlezone (Rebellion) Driveclub VR (SCE Evolution Studio) EVE: Valkyrie (CCP) GNOG (KO-OP Mode) Harmonix Music VR (Harmonix) Headmaster (Frame Interactive) London Heist: Interrogation (SCE London Studio) London Heist: The Getaway (SCE London Studio) Megaton Rainfall (Pentadimensional) Playroom VR (SCE Japan Studio) Project Kitchen (Capcom) RIGS Mechanized Combat League (Guerilla Cambridge) Rush of Blood (SCE Liverpool XDEV Studio) Super Hypercube (Kokoromi) Wayward Sky (Uber Entertainment) World War Toons (Reload Studios) Capcom Cup Anybody who’s been to the finals of a Street Fighter tournament will tell you that it’s an event everyone should experience at least once in their lives. If you’re around on Sunday, we’re going to make that really easy for you: the Capcom Cup 2015 begins at 10am Sunday and runs throughout the day. This is the culmination of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour, and by the end of the day the world will have a new Street Fighter champion! Click here for a full run-down of the day’s schedule. There will be salt. Exclusive Gear We’ll be offering limited edition t-shirts to commemorate the show (and Capcom Cup!), plus hoodies, collectibles, bags, lanyards, hats and more. The on-site shop will only accept credit cards, so bring ’em with you! Accepted cards include Visa, Mastercard and Discover. Badge Pickup As you probably know already, PlayStation Experience takes place from 10:00am – 10:00pm on Saturday, and 10:00am – 6:00pm on Sunday. However, what you might not know is the fact that you can pick up your badges before the show even starts! We highly recommend grabbing your badge as early as possible so you don’t cut into your actual show time at PlayStation Experience. Badges can be picked up in the lobby of Moscone West at these hours: Friday, December 4: 12:00pm – 10:00pm Saturday, December 5: 7:00am – 10:00pm Sunday, December 6: 9:00am – 6:00pm Remember, all attendees must be 18 years or older and will be required to present a government issued photo ID in addition to their confirmation email in order to receive their badge. Watch Live All Weekend Can’t make it to San Francisco? Never fear! We’ll certainly miss you, but you can join us in spirit thanks to the magic of modern technology. Just head on over to live.playstation.com and keep up with all the weekend’s big announcements, live panels and developer interviews from the comfort of your own couch / desk / reclining chair. Have fun! View the full article

It’s been a year and change since we released the (Critically acclaimed?) modernist Cold War cyberpunk game, Jazzpunk. We’re now pleased-as-punch to announce that we’ve been working on bringing this surreal experience to PS4! But we didn’t want to stop at doing a simple port of the game, so we’ve been grinding away on new content and modes that will be exclusive to the PS4 version. “So what the heck is Jazzpunk?†I hear many (Most?) of you asking. That’s a tough one! But I’ll tell you what I know: Jazzpunk is the result of five years of careful laughromancy and studious application of the joke sciences. Jazzpunk is largely an exploration/adventure game, but with a heavy focus on absurdist and surreal humor and a sleek mid-century modern aesthetic. We spent a lot of time creating a lush 1960’s world, then tried to stuff it like a pizza crust with as much joke-cheese as possible. I’ve been told the results are gooey and delicious. A little bit of history on us and the project: we’re Necrophone Games, a little two-person company from Toronto, Canada. Jazzpunk began as a little side project that the co-founder of Necrophone Games, Jess Brouse, and I began around 2007. Mostly it was a hobby project, something we could work on in our spare time for fun as we’d been building a lot of small games and prototypes at the time. Originally I had wanted to make a sort of straight-faced puzzle game set in a stylized cold-war setting. As development continued over the months and years, we had thrown in little gags and easter-eggs, mostly for our own amusement, but at its core the game was still fairly dry in regards to its puzzles and mission structure. Eventually we hit a make-or-break point where we reassessed the whole game and determined that our favorite sections to make and to play, were indeed the gags, the jokes, the comedy segments. We decided to take the plunge into changing the genre of Jazzpunk from something like a typical “first-person puzzle†game to a comedy, which at the time was, and in many ways still is, a stigmatized genre in the video games universe. There were very few examples of comedy in games actually working at the time. The remaining portion of development went into redoing almost the entire game to fit this newfound idea of humor as the driving force behind the gameplay and exploration. It was an experiment that paid off in guffaws, knee-slaps, and chortles; it earned us an IGF Grand Prize nomination. So for those of you that have played Jazzpunk before, I hear you asking “What’s the new stuff?!†In Jazzpunk, one of the minigames we included was a full-on parody of multiplayer old school deathmatch games like Unreal Tournament, Goldeneye, and Quake 3 Arena called Wedding Qake. Since release, one of the most requested features from fans was the expansion of this “Wedding Qake†minigame into a proper multiplayer mode. We’re pretty jazzed to announce that we will be unveiling a classic “four-player splitscreen†multiplayer mode into Wedding Qake, featuring unlockable characters, new levels, and fresh implements of devastating MATRIMONY. In addition to this, we will be adding some new content to the single-player game, but I don’t want to give too much away about those just yet. Comedy thrives on the element of surprise, after all! In short, we’re excited to bring this award-losing experience to PS4! If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, stop by our booth (2171) at PlayStation Experience, especially if you want to be one of the first people on the planet to try our four-player split-screen Wedding Qake mode! Feel free to hit us up with your questions in the comments below. View the full article

Hi everyone! My name is Craig Sharpe from Retro Dreamer, a small three-person studio based in California. Today we’re excited to announce that our latest game Monsters & Monocles is coming to PS4! Monsters & Monocles is a frantic, Victorian steampunk themed twin-stick shooter all about using teamwork and heavy weaponry to battle the hordes of evil. A naive occult collector has unknowingly unleashed a great evil that is spreading across the globe, and it’s up to you and a team of quirky paranormal investigators to find the source of this dark energy and blast it back to where it came from. Playing solo, or with up to four players online or locally, you control one of four colorful characters like Baron von Dogface, a well-dressed dog wearing a smoking jacket, and must fight your way through unique monster-filled environments. Each level is procedural, so you and your comrades will be faced with unique enemy placement, traps, secrets, and objectives each time you play. Your trusty airship, the HMS Scone, acts as your hub, allowing you to gear up before taking on challenging levels such as a haunted mansion, snowy Victorian streets, and a cursed Pharaoh’s tomb. Each area ends with a fearsome boss encounter, such as a demonic chimney sweep or a giant cyclops skull. Search out and use powerful weapons to aid you in battle, like the blunderbuss, stake launcher, and the crumpet cannon, a steampunk toaster that fires weaponized crumpets. Find and equip relics to customize your weapons and add new abilities to match your play style, and upgrade them by looting chests and destroying enemies. In multiplayer, your team shares a single pool of lives across all players, so you need to stick together, revive fallen comrades, and watch each other’s backs. We’re also happy to mention that the soundtrack to all of this crumpet-based carnage is being created by the awesome guys at Hyperduck Soundworks. From our own experience, we know it can be challenging to get a group of friends together on the same couch at the same time, so having online play has been a top priority for us from the the very beginning. We also want to make it easy for anyone to hop into a game with their friends regardless of ability or how much time they have. We’re really excited to be bringing Monsters & Monocles to Playstation! We’re on the show floor at Playstation Experience in San Francisco this weekend, so if you’re around, come by and check out the demo! Thank you for reading and please feel free to ask any questions about the game you might have below! View the full article

What are Sidekicks and how do you use them? Sidekicks are another loadout option, which spawns an NPC ally, each with a unique skill to help you or your teammates along. Players can redeem and spawn Sidekicks from the In-Match store, accessible via the DualShock 4 touch pad. Sidekicks will earn you cash as they fulfill their role. There are four Sidekicks in the Beta, each with a specific function: Sniper – defends a location with a sniper rifle to take out members of the opposing team Savior – field medic who will revive Downed players, hand out ammo and help your team replenish their Gear faster Hunter – when called in, hunts down the nearest enemy and puts them into a hold for the player to KO them Brute – heavily armored with a lot of fire power but slow moving What is available in the Uncharted Multiplayer Store? You are awarded 150 Uncharted Points at your first login during the Beta. These points can be redeemed for a variety of vanity items in the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Store. You can also earn Relics by completing Daily Challenges during the Beta, or pick them up during a match. These allow you to unlock Vanity Chests in the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Store in the Main Menu. Vanity Chests have a chance of giving you a hat, outfit or a taunt (or a taunt with a prop!). What are Beta points? Beta Points unlock gameplay items for your Custom Loadout. Points are awarded for reaching certain levels of cash accumulation as you play Matches. The more Beta Points earned, the more gameplay items unlocked. What is the In-Match Store? The In-Match Store is accessed via the DualShock 4 touch pad during a match. As you play, you’ll earn in-game cash to deploy your loadout items such as Mysticals, Sidekicks, Heavy Weapons, or upgrade your Gear during a match. Choose wisely as the cost of each item will go up the more you use it during that individual match! What are Challenges? Each day during the Beta, Naughty Dog will issue gameplay goals, called Challenges, that players can complete to earn Relics to use in the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Store. Players can redeem Relics for a Vanity Chest. A single Challenge will replenish once per day at 3:00 PM local time for the player. No Challenge will be replenished unless one has been completed. How do you make a customized loadout? Players will be given a total of 25 Loadout Points to begin customizing their loadouts. Each item in Custom Loadout is worth a certain number of Loadout Points (LP) and players will be able equip a wide variety of gameplay items in their Custom Loadouts that can then be used during a Match. Can I play as a character other than Nathan Drake? Yes, you can play as a number of your favorite heroes and villains from previous Uncharted games, including Nathan, Sully, Elena, Sam, Katherine Marlow, Lazarevic and more. Each character brings his or her own unique personality and dialogue to the Multiplayer experience. What game modes will be supported in the Beta? The Beta will feature Team Deathmatch. What maps are included in the Beta? Two maps, including Island, a map influenced by the jungle setting from the PlayStation Experince 2014 demo; and Madagascar City, a map influenced from the settings seen in the E3 2015 demo. Anything Else?Twitch Members of the Naughty Dog development team will be streaming Uncharted 4 Multiplayer gameplay on our Twitch channel on December 8 and December 11. Keep an eye on @Naughty_Dog on Twitter for more details. Looking for more? Check out the Naughty Dog stream from December 1 as Robert Cogburn, Erin Daly, and Arne Meyer provide an in-depth preview of the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Beta. See you online during the Beta! Since the conception of our furniture assembly simulator/domestic “modern art†engine, we’ve consistently had the most fun watching groups play it together. Over time, our focus on multiplayer has grown, and we’re happy to announce that we’re working on bringing seamless online furniture assembly to the world for the first time ever. Yes, that’s right, in a few months you’ll be able to ruin relationships and build modern art monstrosities remotely, as well as in the comfort of your own home. In honor of this announcement, I’d like to shed some light on why we decided to prioritize online multiplayer, including a bit of our history with networked games that influenced our design process. First, I’d like to take you back to before digital furniture assembly was listed on our resumes, before we were a company, and before we even graduated and entered into the games industry. As students, our team made a game called Black Oak Manor, an asymmetric multiplayer battle arena game with procedurally-generated haunted houses. It was great fun. We played it with our friends. It was a hit at campus demos and parties, and we were primed to keep working on it after graduation. We took the next step and submitted the game to a few indie events and festivals thinking that, in the worst case, we’d get some feedback from knowledgeable testers to help us along… right? Well, that wasn’t quite how it worked out. Here’s the entire text of the feedback we received from multiple festival submissions: “Very intriguing idea.†In hindsight, Black Oak Manor was unpolished and had considerable flaws, but there was one major pitfall that truly doomed the game from the start: nobody would go to the trouble of actually playing it. It required four players locally on one screen, with a single player networked in on a separate machine controlling the “boss†monster. You needed two machines, a network connection, four controllers grouped locally, and a mouse in order to play. In a way, the project was doomed from the start because we didn’t think about how our players actually wanted to use the game. We designed it as much for ourselves as for them, and we made it a hassle to interact with. With Home Improvisation, we started off with a prototype that allowed players to switch seamlessly between single and multiplayer modes, and we went from there. At PAX East 2015, we found this format opened a lot of possibilities, and we spent the better part of the weekend watching total strangers drop in and out of games together, cooperate, compete, build on the creations of previous players, share knowledge, leave messages, destroy and transform previous players’ creations, and generally use the game in a lot of different ways. At one point, an impromptu group of nearly 30 developers gathered around a single screen and engaged in the design of the magnificent “Chelfie†by committee. We realized that Home Improvisation is not only a “sandbox†in the traditional “few goals†sense, but also that players, including total strangers, found completely novel ways to interact by using the game in different ways. That inspired us. We’ve made it our new goal to extend our sandbox into the online arena with as little friction as possible, so players can find infinite new ways to play and interact. Our new online mode will feature seamless multiplayer drop-in and drop-out, and we look forward to seeing where players run with it. We also hope it proves to be at least as fun and diverse playing with strangers online as with friends locally. View the full article

Hi, everybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!) I’m Josh, community manager for Dungeon Defenders II, and in case you missed it, an early version of our action-packed co-op tower defense game launched on September 29th. Since then, the response has been incredible! Player feedback has been invaluable these past few months. Lots of great changes are coming based on what they’ve told us, and we can’t wait for you to get in there and help us, too! Speaking of great changes, we’ve been hard at work on our first content update, Loot & Survive, which launched this past Tuesday. We’re super excited to bring our infinite tower defense mode, Onslaught, to PS4, allowing you to go beyond the wave limits of a map to see who can survive the longest. We’ve spent so many hours trying to beat more rounds than our community on the PC, and we hope you’ll have as much fun playing it as we do. Many of you mentioned we needed more of a challenge in the game, so we added in new difficulty modes that should provide a needed challenge boost (I lead a high-stress lifestyle, so I tend to stay away from hard difficulties. #casual). We’ve also doubled the level cap from 25 to 50 and added in new rewards for leveling up, so that “Yay, I’ve levelled up!†RPG feeling should be even stronger now. For those of you who made it to level 25 before the update, you’ll find some extra rewards waiting for you in the tavern. You’ll have even more rewards if you managed to level up one of each hero to 25! You can expect to see more rewards and more awesome content in the future. If you’re interested in tower defense games, or RPGs, or if you’re looking for a fun time with friends, call 828-224….just kidding. You should look up Dungeon Defenders II on PlayStation Store. You can also share your feedback on our PS4 forum, which we read every day! See you in Etheria! View the full article

score submissions PSBlog Feed: Bound Revealed for PS4
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
Hello, PlayStation fans! This is Michał “bonzaj†Staniszewski from Plastic, a small team with demoscene roots. In the past we brought you Linger In Shadows and Datura on PS3. We haven’t got rid of our experimenting habits, and this time we are going to deliver something to you that is quite unique in visual style, narrative storytelling, and also mechanics. Bound is a 3D platformer designed for people with the desire to concentrate on the narrative side of games and experience a mature story. On the other side of the spectrum, Bound is also being prepared for hardcore gamers looking for the challenge of one big puzzle that can be only solved by a community of players working together. The result: we are going to deliver a “notgame†to you, which is also a game. It’s up to you to decide how you would like to play. Looking at the art side, we were searching for a style that is not deeply explored in video games, but still has a major influence on how our world looks today. We have concentrated on Modern Art in full flavor. If you are interested in art movements such as Suprematism, Concretism, Neoplasticism, or what Bauhaus has delivered, then you are going to love the world that we have created. It would be a sin not to write a couple of words about the game’s main character. We were looking for a rich personality, one that could bring beauty to moves and exploration, a dancer or to be more precise — a ballerina. Thanks to our dancer Maria Udod and her choreographer Michał Adam Góral, we were able to capture some true expressive and emotional moments and put it into our game. The accompanying soundtrack will be a perfect blend of ballet and electroacoustic music performed by Oleg “Heinali†Shpudeiko. He is the author of this beautiful contemporary piece. Last but not least, and very important to me personally. You are going to experience our procedural 3D platforming world in a classic way. This means ultra-sharp anti-aliased 60 Hz in 1080p resolution. We have spent more than a year on optimizations, just to deliver you a game that will squeeze the most of your PS4. I’ll be back soon. It’s really hard to describe our game in a single blog post. Please visit our small teaser site at bound.playstation.com. Cheers! View the full article-

Hi, PlayStation.Blog! How are you today? Graham from Drinkbox Studios, here. You might remember us from such games as Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, or Guacamelee!. We’re the studio that loves using punctuation in our game titles. It’s been awhile since we’ve posted anything about our upcoming PS Vita game, Severed. We’ve had our heads down working hard finishing up development, and we’ve just put together a brand new trailer that we’re excited to share with you all. Check it out! In Severed you play as a one-armed warrior named Sasha, who wakes up in a surreal new world after a catastrophic event. After obtaining a living sword from a mysterious cloaked creature, Sasha sets off on an epic journey in search of her missing family. Combat is done primarily using the touchscreen, but Severed is definitely not a casual game. In fact, we think that using the touchscreen for sword combat has allowed us to make the game a much more deep and complex experience than button-based sword fighting ever could have been. Each monster in Severed requires a different strategy to deal with, and once you’ve figured out how to deal with a single enemy you’ll quickly be presented with multiple enemies of different types at once. Sasha has a “focus meter†that increases by fighting enemies efficiently. Once full, the focus meter grants the ability to enter “sever mode,†in which you can throw enemies into the air and sever off their vulnerable limbs. These enemy pieces are used to upgrade Sasha’s abilities, a necessary requirement to be effective against increasingly difficult enemy combinations later in the game. As you progress through the game’s dungeons, you’ll encounter more powerful boss monsters that each have unique abilities. Severing these bosses will leave behind carcasses which Sasha can wear to gain abilities. While the gameplay of Severed is in first person, you can keep track of how your character looks by checking the game’s upgrade screen, or via mirrors you’ll find throughout the world. But wait! There’s more to the game than just combat! Severed takes place in a large open world filled with secrets to uncover. Each dungeon will present you with new puzzle mechanics that will be required to solve impassable barriers. Over the course of the game you’ll also find yourself re-exploring old sections of the world, using newly acquired powers to open pathways to hidden surprises, challenges, and rewards. If you’re going to be at PlayStation Experience, please stop by booth #2042 and check out our demo of Severed first hand. Or, just stop by and say “Hi!†We might even be giving away some free codes for Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition on PS4 (Shhhh… let’s keep that between us!). View the full article

Hey, PlayStation Nation! Nayan from Playism here again with an awesome upcoming release. In the world of Croixleur Sigma, warriors from each house compete against each other in a bid to take control of the country’s military and political power. They do this by battling through a tower, each level filled with powerful monsters. Players choose a female warrior and battle through the tower in arena-based character action levels. Players also arm themselves with up to 4 unique swords at a time which can be chained together into powerful and flashy combos. Croixleur Sigma first released on PC, but for the PS4 version, developer Souvenir Circle has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure PS4 is the best platform to play the game. At first glance, it’s easy to see the huge graphical upgrade to the game. Souvenir Circle have raised the resolution and added an awesome cartoon shader that brings the anime characters to life like never before. In addition to the graphical upgrade, the PS4 version has two new characters: Katerina and her bodyguard Sara-Annika. Once you play through the game’s various story modes, you’ll unlock these brand new characters to play with in the other game modes. Each sports a unique look and fighting style that you’re sure to love. Also new to the PS4 version of Croixleur Sigma is the dress-up system. As you play through the game and collect coins, you’ll be able to enter the store and buy dresses, hats, and even weapons for your favorite characters. Feel like going kabuki? Let’s do it! Thinking about wearing a fancy hat? Nothing says combat-ready like dapper duds! Customize your heroine the way you want. After all, It’s your adventure. Souvenir Circle has also included heaps of new weapons to collect and use, and created all-new animations for all of the game’s special attacks! To top it all off, Croixleur Sigma isn’t as far away as you might think. Croixleur Sigma will launch via PlayStation Store this month for just $14.99. Want to get a taste of Croixleur Sigma before it launches? We’re going to be showing off the English PS4 version at the Playism booth in the indie section at PlayStation Experience from December 5th to 6th. I’ll be there too, so feel free to drop by and say hello! View the full article

Hello! Pawel from 11 bit studios here with the latest trailer for This War of Mine: The Little Ones where you can see footage from PS4 for the very first time. I also want to give you a bit of insight into the kind of experience you will have in the game, from the perspective of a “Little one.†To do that, I want you to turn on your imagination and put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you are a 10 year old child. Right now you’re trapped with your father in a city under siege. There is nowhere to run. Then you and your father are joined by another two civilians, it may be easier and safer to stay together. “The building you’re in seems like a good cover,†they say. It’s already winter, and you start to feel unwell. Bruno — one of the guys who joined your little group and who initially seemed a bit selfish — gives you some medication after you ask him for help. It’s the very last bit of medicine, let´s hope you feel better. If not, someone will have to go and get some more in the cover of night. After that, Bruno tries to cook something from the last pieces of food he has on an improvised stove. Later, you get bored but your father told you to stay in the shelter because it’s too dangerous outside. What do you do? Hey, maybe you could run up and down the stairway? It gets boring after a while. Let’s play some hopscotch then. Something feels bad. You notice your father is sad. The other folks also seem a bit down. You realize that things may end up badly. They act normal but they know the truth. And as energetic as you are, those bad feelings sneak into your mind, too. You feel like talking to your Dad. You want to hear something good, have a glimpse of your old good life. Dad always knows how to cheer you up. It’s not that bad outside especially when he finds a moment to play rock-paper-scissors with you, right? Dad is trying to fix a broken wooden bed — the only bed in the building, for you, so at least you don’t have to sleep on the cold floor. You go to talk to Roman, the other civilian hidden in the shelter with you. Roman is a nice guy. He says he will teach you how to collect rainwater and how to filter it quickly. That’s better. You can help these people after all. Roman promises to teach you how to grow herbs tomorrow. As the evening comes closer, you feel the tension growing. Dad and the guys talk, someone has to go outside and try to find some food. Then it turns out it will be him. You realize this is very serious. You may not see him return tomorrow… That is just a glimpse into the kind of experience you will have in This War of Mine: The Little Ones. You are the narrator of the story and you’ll decide what happens with the father and with his kid. Questions? I’ll reply in the comments. Thank you. View the full article

PSBlog Feed: Amplitude Blasts Onto PS4 January 5th
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
Hello rhythm game fanatics and Kickstarter backers! The PS4 version of Amplitude launches on January 5th, 2016 via PlayStation Store for $19.99. Harmonix rebooted this PS2 cult-classic music game with the help of Kickstarter backers. Amplitude is back with high-fidelity visuals, new songs, a sci-fi narrative, and more. Amplitude features a single-player campaign along with competitive and cooperative local multiplayer modes. The campaign is presented in the form of a sci-fi concept album with a narrative that surfaces through the game’s visuals, music, and lyrics. There are also leaderboards available for bragging rights. With a soundtrack of more than 30 songs, Amplitude includes music from exciting artists such as Darren Korb (Transistor), C418 (Minecraft), Insomniac Games, and Freezepop, as well as songs from Kickstarter backers, and music crafted by Harmonix’s talented in-house composers. The entire soundtrack is as follows: “All The Time†— C418 “Assault on Psychofortress†— Single White Infidel “Astrosight†— Inter:sect Ft. Noelle LeBlanc & Naoko Takamoto “Break for Me†— James Landino Ft. Those who play the game at the booth will receive an exclusive dynamic Theme for their PS4 and an Amplitude trading card. More details can be found in Amplitude’s latest backer update! We may rarely think about them, but A.I. systems can fundamentally alter the gameplay experience. In order to build Call of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s four-player cooperative campaign, the team at Treyarch had to completely overhaul its A.I. technology and rethink how it influences combat, storytelling, and level design, all the while maintaining the cinematic immersion that the series is known for. This Saturday, join me and members of Treyarch’s engineering, design, animation, and story teams as we discuss the making of Black Ops 3, the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, and how it can shape the future of games during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3: Unlocking the Potential of A.I. panel. Heading to PlayStation Experience? Here’s how to attend: What: Call of Duty Black Ops 3: Unlocking the Potential of A.I. Where: San Francisco, CA — Moscone West Hall, 3rd Floor When: Saturday, December 5th. 4:00 PM Pacific Who: Gary Stelmack, Senior Designer, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Sumeet Jakatdar, Senior Software Engineer, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Yanick Lebel, Lead Animator, Animation, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Craig Houston, Lead Writer, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 We look forward to seeing you all in San Francisco! Not too long ago, during Gamescom, we announced that we’re currently working on a total remake of our puzzle platformer Metrico (PS Vita) for PlayStation 4 (Metrico+). We’ve had tons of questions of what exactly Metrico+ is, so we’re here on PlayStation.Blog to give you an in-depth look. Metrico+ features a lot of new content, as well as refined and improved graphics. We also worked on the storyline and added tons of other new features. It’s basically a new game! And we’re planning to release it in the first quarter of 2016. In this post I’d like to elaborate on some of the changes and fixes we made. We loved that Metrico was exclusive to PS Vita. That’s why for the bigger part we want players to feel like the PS Vita version is still a unique experience, and the PS4 version will be a new experience, taking the best parts of the Vita version and building on them with lots of new and improved features. For those who aren’t familiar: Metrico is a new world. A unique world for you to explore, which consists of all sorts of infographics like bar diagrams, pie charts and line graphs. These infographics constantly change based on your actions, movements and input. The goal of the game is to experiment and find out how each infographic within certain puzzles react, solving these puzzles in that manner. When we started development of Metrico+, we knew it was impossible to re-use a lot of the content from Metrico since certain mechanics utilized specific PS Vita hardware features. There are six worlds in Metrico, and particularly the last few worlds use PS Vita’s hardware features extensively. DualShock 4 has a built-in gyroscope — a technology that one of Metrico’s worlds heavily relied on — so maybe that world would have been possible on PlayStation 4. However, since we’re also releasing on other platforms, this was quickly discarded and new solutions were needed. Furthermore, simply mapping mechanics built around specific PS Vita hardware to different inputs would result in an incoherent, disjointed experience on the big screen. That’s why we had to design two entirely new worlds with their own unique mechanics for Metrico+, while also replacing puzzles in other worlds that relied on now-unavailable mechanics. These worlds needed to be filled with fun, challenging puzzles that utilize these new mechanics and the parameters/variables that accompany them. Thus, we went back to the drawing board and came up with a whole bunch of different mechanics, each one crazier than the last. Prototyping these took quite some time, but we had a lot of fun doing so. In the end, I feel we did a good job: everybody that played and tested Metrico+ so far loves the new mechanics. Given Metrico+’s explorative and experimental nature, we don’t want to spoil too much about its new mechanics. We’d like you to find out how they exactly work for yourselves, but we do want to tease you a bit with these two GIFs. Can you tell how they work and what they do? And if you’ve played Metrico, can you come up with all of the consequences they might have? Of course, we also took the time to really look at the criticism we received and make a lot of changes based on it. We added more eventful moments and platform puzzles for better pacing throughout the game; made changes to our adaptive music system to be less annoying to players getting stuck longer than usual, and we went all-out and improved the visuals a whole lot in order to make them look good on a big screen. Metrico+ is even more fun to visit now. We’re also completely redoing the character animations. A question that might be on your mind now is: ‘will I get Metrico+ for free if I already downloaded Metrico?’ All I can say now is that we’re looking into this. Metrico+ is essentially a new game with a similar title, but with 2 entirely new worlds with lots of new challenging puzzles, completely revamped graphics, a new storyline, different trophies, and lots of other new features. That being said, a bunch of the original puzzles are still in place in some shape or form so we wouldn’t feel entirely comfortable charging full price again either. We’ll know more in the not so distant future. Meanwhile, we are really excited that we’re showcasing Metrico+ for the very first time in the States at this year’s PlayStation Experience, happening this weekend in San Francisco. Come visit us if you’re around to check out Metrico+ and let us know what you think! View the full article

Hello, everyone! My name is Adam Milecki, Game Producer at DegiGames. I’m here to talk to you about Dariusburst Chronicles Savior, the latest entry in the long-running, classic arcade shooter series. Darius began as an arcade game in the late 1980s and was notable for its large arcade cabinet with super-wide screen, gigantic monster battleships, and branching levels. To create the widescreen effect, Darius creator Taito actually utilized three whole CRT monitors side by side. This was a clever technique that allowed for a widescreen display using readily available technology. Combined with its super widescreen cabinets, Zuntata’s unique soundtrack made for an audiovisual experience that helped ensure Darius would never be forgotten. This week, we’re bringing the Darius arcade experience to PS4 and PS Vita with Dariusburst Chronicles Savior. Dariusburst Chronicles Savior brings a lot to the table. Between the brand new story mode with hundreds of stages covering Darius history and the 3000+ stages unlockable by global players in AC Chronicle mode, you’ve got a wealth of stages to blast your way through. Not only that, but they branch, allowing you to choose your own path and challenge level. This adds a ton of replay value! You’ll need some serious firepower to destroy the enormous, robotic seamonster battleships (including new DBCS exclusive bosses). Good thing you’ll have nine playable ships to choose from, including classic Silver Hawk variants, a new DBCS exclusive ship, and gameplay-changing Burst modes. Choose the ship that works best for you, or challenge yourself to try something different. You may like what you find! Dariusburst Chronicles Savior supports cross save, so share your progress between PS4 and PS Vita, along with Trophies and leaderboards. PS4 owners will enjoy console-exclusive features such as up to four-player local co-op and Darius Odyssey, a digital art book. (Note: Art book text is in Japanese.) If you’ve ever seen a Darius arcade cabinet, you know they’re huge. We’re happy to bring you Dariusburst Chronicles Savior in a form that won’t force you to rearrange your home. Thanks for reading, everyone! View the full article

Hi PlayStation Nation! We’ve been burning the midnight oil creating Fallen Legion, a dark fantasy action RPG with hand-drawn 2D artwork and an intense battle system where skill is more important than grinding for experience points. Fallen Legion begins with Princess Cecille standing on a battlefield, with her weary army behind her, gazing into an approaching beast brigade. The King of Fenumia’s threads of life were cut short and he passed on relics as well as the responsibility of ruling her crumbling country to Cecille. Among the king’s effects is a talking book that has the power to breathe life into weapons. This enigmatic Grimoire knows the truth about Fenumia and her home isn’t the idyllic kingdom the citizens believe it is. I love RPGs and fighting games. This shows in Fallen Legion’s unique battle system that blends both genres together. Cecille brings up to three Exemplars — weapons turned into soldiers by the Grimoire — in battle with her. Zulfiqar is heavy hitter who can also protect other Exemplars with his sturdy shield. Longinus is a damage dealer with multi-hit spear strikes. Apollon can debilitate enemies with status effects. Each character has their own action bar and it’s possible to start slashing with Zulfiqar then switch to Apollon to shoot a barrage of arrows. Actually, we want you to do that. If you cancel an attack you can create a powerful link combo which unleashes an Exemplar’s secret techniques. Zulfiqar can smite enemies with his shield and Longinus can drill enemies with her spear. Each character also has a deathblow and whoever lands the last attack on the combo bar delivers their super move. If you want to rend an enemy with Zulfiqar’s Sky Splitter, have him as the last attacker or make Longinus last to pierce all enemies with her spear. Pressing the “L1†button makes characters block and if you time a block right before an enemy strikes you’ll trigger Perfect Guard which can stagger enemies or reflect projectiles. Ever wanted to send a dragon’s fireball back at it? You can do that in Fallen Legion! While Cecille cuts through goblins, she also has to rule Fenumia. Players have to make split second decisions and choose which factions to side with. Your choices affect how the people of Fenumia think of you and what buffs your Exemplars receive in battle. You can get life extending vitality boosts, an extra deathblow slot on the combo bar or a card that allows you to go wild and attack non-stop for one battle. All boosts last for a single stage and if you make different choices, the way you fight monsters will change considerably. There’s so much more I want to say about Fallen Legion like how we create our hand-drawn artwork, what other Exemplars you can summon, and who our story writer is. If you’re coming to PlayStation Experience come up and ask me these questions! Fallen Legion will be playable at the show and we have some cool swag for everyone that comes by to play it. Hello there! I’m Claire Bromley, Associate Producer at XDev Studio Europe and this is my first blog post, so hello there, PlayStation peeps! Okay, let’s get right to it… I know it’s been a while since we last gave you an update on BigFest. On The Metal and XDev Studio have been busy and we can now finally announce that BigFest is available exclusively on PS Vita today! Since our last blog post we’ve been focusing on bringing you the best BigFest experience possible, so for those of you who haven’t heard of BigFest before, let me bring you up to speed. BigFest is a festival simulation game at heart, but with a twist: create awesome music festivals and choose who to put on stage from a huge global catalogue of real-life unsigned artists. Pick your favorites and promote them in your online festivals, potentially breaking the next big unsigned band! How cool is that? Along with our friends at Jamendo, we’re bringing you a regularly updated catalogue of diverse unsigned artists’ tracks to download and promote in your festivals. As well as creating and hosting your own festivals, you can also visit friends’ festivals to enjoy the music and soak up the atmosphere… or to be a jolly old nuisance, by sending them streakers and other mischievous disruptions. We all hope you love BigFest. Rock on, you aspiring promoters and beautiful festivalgoers out there! View the full article

2K is releasing blockbuster games on the PlayStation Now Subscription service today: Borderlands (New!) Borderlands 2 (New!) BioShock (New!) BioShock 2 (New!) BioShock Infinite (Existing) Here’s a short introduction to each of the Borderlands and BioShock games that are included in the subscription catalog. Borderlands (New!) Known for its addictive action, frantic first-person shooter combat, massive arsenal of weaponry and RPG elements, Borderlands is a genre-bending (same might argue genre re-defining) modern shooter experience. Borderlands places you in the role of a mercenary on the lawless and desolate planet of Pandora, hell bent on finding a legendary stockpile of powerful alien technology known as The Vault. (Rated Mature) Borderlands 2 (New!) Play as one of four new Vault Hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them on a relentless quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and unpredictable living planet of Pandora. (Rated Mature) BioShock (New!) BioShock introduces an exciting world filled with fascinating characters, intelligent enemies and complex moral choices that define the foundation of the game world. With its rich story, meticulous attention to visual detail, tense action and infinite replay value, BioShock delivers the perfect blend of storytelling and first person action. (Rated Mature) BioShock 2 (New!) BioShock 2 provides players with the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat and compelling award-winning storytelling. The halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival. (Rated Mature) BioShock Infinite (Existing) Indebted to the wrong people, with his life on the line, veteran of the U.S. Cavalry and now hired gun, Booker DeWitt has only one opportunity to wipe his slate clean. He must rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious girl imprisoned since childhood and locked up in the flying city of Columbia.
