Above the Rest 's New Clan Introduction
Bandit99 replied to Kuan-_-Ti_'s topic in Clan Introductions
Welcome to Urgent Fury. While some of your members may have played here before, you have either changed names, leaders or have been absent from this community for a prolonged period of time. Due to one of the previous mentioned situations, we consider your clan, new to Urgent Fury and will have a Ranger Advisor assigned to your clan. This Advisor will assist your clan in your process to enter this community. They will inform you of what we expect from our clans and their members. They will also assist you in any questions you may have. If you have a question they are unable to answer, they will contact a member of Staff and get that answer for you. This Advisor, is your first step to gaining permanent entry into the Urgent Fury community. Please make sure you make yourself available to them and communicate with them. This Advisor at some point may wish to join your clan in a public room, to observe your clan on the battlefield. I would highly suggest you accommodate them. That being said an Advisor will be along shortly to introduce themselves to you and start the process. Thank you and once again welcome to Urgent Fury! -
Oh and btw, your stating this as maybe being premature, if that is the way you choose to look at it then that is your right. I look at it as a notice. A notice stating Urgent Fury's intent. This intent is of a legal matter which can affect others down the road. As stated it can be challenged just as every other patent pending status can be. It can also be ignored, which many before have done. As I said this was a PSA. That a patent has been applied for and is currently in patent pending status. In effect that means from the time the patent was applied for, it is protected by laws from that moment forward if full patent status is granted. That if at any time in the future a patent is granted, anyone who compromised the patent from the moment it was applied for can be seen as violating the patent and open themselves up to litigation. Lukin is correct in saying that at this moment if you ignore this patent and create your own tournament right now, you are not in violation of anything, however that changes the moment if it is approved. That tournament was played during patent pending at your risk. You assumed all the risk as you chose to ignore the patent pending status, thus making you liable if found guilty of patent infringement.

Shadow in now way am I taking this as an attack. Shane made an announcement. His announcement was a notice that Urgent Fury has applied for and is currently designated as patent pending concerning the creation of TacMaps. We can sit here and argue what-ifs and laws all we want, however it does not change the fact that UF has gained Patent Pending status. Shanes post was a PSA as have been my replies. Yes you or anyone else can chose to ignore the designation and continue create these, however you open yourself up to litigation if patent is finalized and approved.
-
Shadow, I can only answer questions pertaining to this topic as I have no knowledge about either patents, copyrights or trademarks concerning the others. As we have stated, UF is patent pending with TacMap Tournments. That a process and application had to be followed and submitted to the US Patent Office to approve, to receive that designation. The most important part of that is that Urgent Fury was approved for patent pending status. That at this time, the creation of such tournaments soley belongs to Urgent Fury. That going forward, Urgent Fury can and will exercise it rights under that designation.

More often than not, the difference between success and failure can be attributed to recognizing an open door and seizing the opportunities it presents. In the world we live in, we see those who have the ability to see these doors, capitalize on them every day. A very recent example of this is Disney. Disney just trademarked the name Seal Team 6. The thing is, I do not think, Sleepy, Doc, Grumpy and friends have been behind the many covert ops around the world that have been attributed to Seal Team 6. I also am fairly confident in saying that the Navy did not work hand in hand with Disney in creating the Seals or Seal Team 6, yet here is Disney now owning the rights to the name. No one is able to use this name commercially without expressed written consent by Disney or without a licensing agreement. By your logic this is not allowed and will not hold up, however it did. Disney seen an open door, walked through and closed it behind them, just as UF has done. It's business, in it's simplest form, seizing the opportunities before you. You can present all the arguments you want about the past and who did this or that concerning TacMap tournaments. You can argue all day long about who does or now in this case who did it better all you want, but at this point it is moot as by law only one is able to continue to do so. Urgent Fury recognized the door.

Joe's motto is, "it is not a party unless someone is squealing like a pig" so I guess the male strippers are not an option but a requirement. Anyhow have a great Birthday Joe.

PSN Restoration Timeline Update + Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

Anonymous’ IRC Network Goes Down

I'm not so sure if this is not them trying to throw one of their own under the bus. I mean look at how they make sure they say what has happened to them is the same tools used to take down Sony. It just seems kind of fishy to me. The heat is coming so they are looking for one to take the fall instead of numerous individuals. I will also venture a guess that with this so called inner attack there will be a lot of "data" lost. This will be data that would implicate more individuals. -
At this time, we have done away with Hell Week.

Hi from DeadlyChimp, =ENG= and 1000fraggers.com
Bandit99 replied to deadlychimp's topic in General Discussion
Deadly, welcome to Urgent Fury. I wish our first interaction would of been positive, however that will not be the case as you have broken a rule of our community. There is a thread at the top of the forums that you are asked to read before posting. The purpose of that thread is to inform individuals who stumble upon or were invited here, of what we at Urgent Fury will and will not allow as forum conduct. One of these rules states, individuals are not allowed to post links to outside sources, promoting another site, offering tournaments or ladders that we offer here, without expressed written consent of the Directors of Urgent Fury. It has come to my attention that you do not have that consent from the Directors, therefore the links in your post have been modified. We would appreciate your cooperation and your respect of the rules set forth by Urgent Fury in the future. Thank you, UF Directors, Staff and Rangers -
Welcome to Urgent Fury. We look forward to having you become a member of this great community.

Just to clarify, what I posted above is just a suggestion. All of us here are currently just running ideas about this back and forth. Any changes to the rules or how to handle this and other situations will come from the Tournament Admins.
-
The new rule would read something like this. D: Each and every team is solely responsible for the gunners they bring into battle. All gunners must be on your roster and their names must match the submitted name on your roster exactly. This includes all symbols, letters, numbers as well as Capitalizations. Please note this is different than recent tourneys as we have not required the capitalizations to be exact, however going forward we are. Bandit99 and bandit99 will not be seen as a match as the "B and b are different". In the event your team brings in a player whose name is not "EXACT" in every way, and your opponent submits proof that this occurred, your team will forfeit that war. There is no debating this. This rule is simple and spelled out and has no "GRAY AREAS". Names must match exactly in every sense of the word "EXACT", including upper and lowercase letter usage. There shall be no ill will spoken to your opponent for filing a complaint over an illegal player as it is your teams responsibility to submit a legal roster, no one else's. Any team who violates this rules and shows ill will toward their opponent for calling them on this rule, will be subject to penalties. Do not project your anger for your teams shortcomings upon your opponent. If you feel an opponent has used a player whose name is different on their roster, you may only file a complaint if you have clear and concise photographic or video evidence. Do not make a claim without that evidence in hand and attached to your complaint.
-
Yes at this time it does, however if this is the way we go, that rule would be amended.
-
How about we go back to old school and the way I always thought it should of stayed. Eligible players are the responsibility of their own team. Each team is responsible for checking their own roster. If they play with a players whose name is incorrect, they forfeit the war. If an opposing team finds that their opponent has in fact used illegal players, they file a complaint and submit proof, end of story. I have never liked the fact they we have placed this burden on the opposing team to check my roster. A large majority of all issues involving wars starts before the war is even started. One team calls another team out on an illegal player. Then they go back and forth with, well he has played in other wars and no one said something and that kind of BS. That is no way to start a war, that is why I say we go back to old school. Each team is responsible for bringing in legal players. Your inability to do so falls directly on your shoulders. We have in the past used a wide variety of competition rules to compare to ours or use as a guideline for ours. Why should this be any different. Play legal players falls on the team in which they play for. If at a later time a team has been shown to use illegal players, they are forced to vacate or forfeit those wins. That would solve all the issues about rosters.

Death Shadow Mercanies 's New Clan Introduction

Welcome to Urgent Fury. Since you are a new clan to Urgent Fury, you will have a Ranger Advisor assigned to you. This Advisor will assist you in your process to enter this community. They will inform you of what we expect from our clans and their members. They will also assist you in any questions you may have. If you have a question they are unable to answer, they will contact a member of Staff and get that answer for you. This Advisor may or may not, also wish to see how you conduct yourself on the battlefield. They may want to see how you conduct yourself online as well as interact with you. This is at the Advisors discretion. I would advise you to make sure you allow them to play with you if they do request so. That being said an Advisor will be along shortly to introduce themselves to you and start the process. Thank you and once again welcome to Urgent Fury! -
