Neoblackhound Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Ok so im playing Call of Duty with 2 clan mates were playing a normal team death match cuz we didn't really feel like playing hardcore we are having some fun for once, then a clan comes in blasting on the mic talking shit so we just start playing I embarrass the hell out of them for the next 5 games going 160k-13d and whats sad is that they just don't shut up till I finally go 40-3 they finally got the hint and left but the last one ends up bitching saying I was garbage and leaves you see this doesn't happen in Socom I can't wait for hopefully no open mics, no more bullshit clans, and being able to choose respawn or not and no more perk bullshit. /6 needs to get that ass in gear and spend more time on the game rather then telling us about it. It is proximity mic, I believe that is the best way to describe it. If you are within a certain distance, EVERYONE can hear you. Like it would be in real life. Quote

Just think about those guys that hold back and camp say the bomb plant. They won't have any clue if your teammates are getting ready to plant, where enemy might be coming from, etc. Quote

Then you might be lookin really good going into this. Quote

Proximity when close and key up to talk to the team. Quote
Nemesis Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 There are three things to know about how headset mics work in Confrontation. 1 – Open chat, always-on audio pickup is only used for the party system. If I join up with my friends via the party system, I can talk to them all of the time without doing anything. 2 – Team chat, to the members of your team within a game is activated by Push To Talk. I hold the button, the members of my team hear it. This is true even if I am in a party. 3 – My voice propagates into the game world around my character. What this means is that as in the real world, the noises I make can give away my position. I can radio my team mates or open-talk to my party at any time, but if the enemy is very close to me, they could overhear me talking into my mic. And yes, you can whisper into your mic and that could reduce the chance that the other team hears you. The sound propagation is realistic, so players don’t need to worry about being overheard from across the map. Another consideration is that the SOCOM headset is a very high-quality dual-microphone noise-cancelling headset and is unlikely to transmit background noise via the open mic feature. Quote

Dude.. change your control configuration to Frogman.. it's EASILY the best one. You press L2 to talk and O becomes your weapons. I've used this since the first day of Socom 3 Quote
SEQUOYAH Posted September 4, 2008 Report Staff Posted September 4, 2008 IMHO...I can't stand the open mic system. Actually it bothers me to the point of kicking my dog every time I think about it. It is good to hear that it can be push to talk, depending on how the room is configured. Thank God. When I heard that Socom was almost ready to say I hate it already. But I didn't dare let the blasphemy spew forth from thine lips!! Quote
