SOCOM: Confrontation 1.20 Update Incoming

Posted by Seth Luisi

We are happy to announce that the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.20 Update will be released on Wednesday, October 29th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST).

The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.20 update addresses the following issues:

Fixed many issues which would cause the game to crash, hang, disconnect and exit to the PS3 XMB.

Fixed an issue which would cause large numbers of players in a high player count game to be simultaneously disconnected.

Fixed an issue which would cause players to be invincible.

Fixed a physics issue which would cause players to occasionally "warp" around on the map.

Fixed an issue where a "corrupt save data" message would be incorrectly displayed after updating the game.

Fixed some player model issues related to team swapping.

Client/server optimization.

Fixed an issue where the scope camera had an incorrect offset from the barrel of the gun while prone or leaning/peeking.

For players who have already downloaded and installed the 1.10 update, the 1.20 update is only ~50MB in size. For new players, the size is the 1.10 update plus the 1.20 update which is ~550MB.

The main purpose of this update is to address major stability and playability issues with the game. The stability of the game has been greatly improved with the 1.20 update. There are still a few low frequency issues which we are continuing to look into and will be addressed in a future update.

We are reading player feedback in the forums and will be making future changes to the game based on that feedback. Please keep the feedback coming.

Regards,

SOCOM: Confrontation Online Team

Am I blind or does it not say anything about freezing? Or should we assume its part of the fixed stability?

Well hopefully everything works great.

He talked about freezing in his previous post:

SOCOM: Confrontation Update October 28th, 2008

Posted by Seth Luisi

Since the launch of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation in North America, we've been working to address the server and stability issues in order to get them resolved ASAP. We have a team of close to 100 people working to get the issues resolved.

On the server side, we've been updating the SOCOM: Confrontation servers nearly every morning and we have not seen any major server access issues in the last week. We are continuing to optimize the servers and we've also started the process of restoring some game UI (User Interface) features which were disabled on the server side a few days after launch in order to reduce load on the servers.

On the game client side, we are in acceptance testing for the 1.20 SOCOM: Confrontation game update. As mentioned in my previous post, the focus of this patch is to address stability and serious playability issues only. The 1.20 update addresses many of the freezes and getting booted to the XMB issues. It also addresses the mass game boot (where many players are simultaneously disconnected from a game), the scope offset issue when prone or using the SIXAXISâ„¢ peek and other issues. We are doing all we can to get this patch released this week but a final date is still TBD until the acceptance testing is complete. Once we have a final date we will post it here on the blog along with a complete fix list.

We are committed to making SOCOM: Confrontation not only the best SOCOM game but the best online shooter period. We appreciate all of your feedback and support.

Regards,

I've ran into some tough kills but no one I can't kill yet (fingers crossed....)

Glad to know the "warp" thing was a server and not a ISP issue. I did that a couple of times and was wondering if it was my router or ISP. I would be in a gun fight, and then "zip" I was 50 feet away with my nose in a wall.

Downloaded the patch, played for an hour.

Nothing really new to me.

I kept seeing that typical "There was an error.....some features may not be...." message that pops on your screen 5 or 6 times in a row even after this patch.

That was annoying.

My player uniforms were the same as they were saved before, but my gun load out was standard and I had to reset those.

At first it didn't recognize I was in a clan. I had to GO to the clan tab and then it had to search for me and then finally I had my tag. It still didn't affect my guns, though, and I had to re-save them.

Didn't get dropped while playing, but then again, I only played for an hour.

The problem where it looks like your guy isn't holding his gun is still there. When you lay down and look though your scope it still is higher then what it is supposes to be. I went and looked though my clan stuff and it said I didn't have a clan for the longest time.

If people are wondering no this did not reset the ranks.
