Anyone here good with landscape design?
We had to remove existing shrubs because they died. Not sure what the problem was ... the shrubs were here when we moved in and then over the next 1 1/2 years, they died. (Two crape myrtles and some weeping tree survived.)
I have foundation beds that need planting but I really don't want to go with the typical shaped shrubs. I love the look of cottage gardens with everything growing close together but with a few evergreens/conifers and shaped shrubs here and there ... sort of an organized chaos. I think they call this a contemporary cottage garden style.
I know what plants I like, but just don't how to put them together to get the end result and my perfectionist tendencies have me crippled. I am scared to give it a go on my own. If anyone does this professionally or even as a hobby, I could REALLY use some help! (I can post pics of my house, bed dimensions, etc.)
Here are some landscape design pics that appeal to me. (My house faces west so it gets full sun and my growing zone is 7a.)
Contemporary Cottage Garden
Love this look! Don't want ivy growing everywhere, too much. I do love how everything is close together as you would see in a classic cottage garden, but not a "messy" looking as a classic cottage garden.
Wouldn't really call this one a cottage garden but what I like is the structure of the evergreens or conifers (whichever they are) with the flowering perennials.
Ok sorry for bringing all this estrogen into the clubhouse, but since we have such a diverse group here, I'm thinking surely SOMEONE around here can help.
