  1. Very cool. I'll have to show this to my 8 year old. He LOVES comics. I bought him a couple of books on how to create his own. I love that he wants to exercise his creativity!
  2. With so much at stake, 1. Clans should be extra, extra cautious about what they do. A simple, "Hey Staffer, can these guys play? Here is the situation ..." would suffice. and 2. Maybe tacmap rules should be ALOT more stringent. No allowing other clan's players to participate, period. If you have not completed a merge BEFORE the start of the tourney, too bad. Or, give clans 75 roster spots and that can't change for the duration of a tacmap. The point is, there ARE creative ways to nip these kinds of issues in the bud.
  3. Just want to throw this out there ... the directors and staff may want to consider revising the rule that states an infraction will incur a ban for one year. Maybe consider a ban UP TO one year. And then a clan's intent can be taken into consideration when determining the length of the ban. That way, UF staff will not feel forced to impose a full year's ban on a clan whom UF feels did not intentionally break the rule. And while each situation should be considered independently because the facts will vary from situation to situation, it's consistency in that consideration that is important. I don't know how all the staff round table stuff works so this may be a moot point, but if you have 10 different staffers making a decision about how to handle these infractions, you are not going to get consistent rulings every time. Maybe three staffers who make these rulings. And if that is still too many, maybe it should be one staffer's responsibility. Anyways, I'm just rambling off the thoughts that come into my brain as I read the above and consider what has transpired. It all sucks, really, that things happened the way they did. But I still have hope that the new UF can learn from it's mistakes as it tries to pave a new way. I don't doubt that it isn't easy at times and I do believe that the new owners and the staff have nothing but the best intentions for Urgent Fury. In the meantime, maybe everyone else can learn to settle down and not let emotion overtake them, causing them to post some ignorant comments ... you know who you are. (If you think I'm talking to you, I probably am! ) So good post Bandit, I think that is just what the community needed.
  4. Nowhere, I'm here, I just resigned as Ranger Officer.
  5. Over the course of the last few months, I have seen things happening here at UF that I have not agreed with and had a difficult time accepting. I chalked it up to growing pains and decided to be fair and give the new owners the benefit of doubt. After the latest ruling concerning Aiel and the proven use of ringers and the subsequent seeming condonement by staff and UF Directors, I can no longer represent Urgent Fury in a positive manner. With that being said, I am resigning as Urgent Fury Ranger Officer. As you all know, I have not gamed in many months because I am a dedicated mother and wife. Urgent Fury has been my connection to the gaming world that I used to have time for and enjoyed so much. I always knew that if and when I ever had time to play again, I would have an instant community of people to game with that shared the same values as myself. And while I still believe that there are those still around who embody the very reason I participated in this community, this community as a whole is no longer the community that it once was. And it is certainly not the community that brought me here or kept me here for so long. I really hope that the directors will reassess the direction they are taking this community ... starting with the silencing of members. The locking and removal of threads has become a bad way of business around here. Transparency is quickly becoming opaque. Bad way to do business if you ask me. Also the amount of contradiction being posted by the directors is astounding. I could pour through threads and type a book on this but I will leave you with one example of what I am talking about: Shane posted this in the "Ruling on A Formal Complaint and Breaking of the Rules" (Post #19, to be exact) - "One thing needs to be very clear, at no point are we going to tell a clan how to run their clans, and we are not going to tell your players in your clan what they can and cannot do outside of Urgent Fury." Does Urgent Fury not explicitly state: "When Urgent Fury community members leave the Urgent Fury arena and venture into the public arena, they are expected to exhibit the high levels of maturity, respect and game-play that is required for competition within Urgent Fury. We consider each clan, team, and individual, who seeks to be a part of Urgent Fury, an extension of and ambassador for our founding gaming philosophy of “Win with Honor, Lose with Dignity.†I am also bothered by the fact that (as stated by Shane in posts # 60 and 70 of the aforementioned thread) the ruling concerning Aiel was consistent with past rulings, therefore, assumingly, everyone should be ok with the ruling. First off, each incident should be handled and considered independently of each other as no two incidents are exactly alike. But if this is the argument that one chooses to use then all I can say is that the perpetuation of a mistake certainly doesn't make it right. I commend Aiel's latest post and withdrawal from UFIC. I think that speaks volumes. And just to be clear, the ruling concerning Aiel only further solidified what I was already feeling about the direction of UF and is not the reason behind my resignation but more like the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Directors, Urgent Fury, I wish you nothing but the best. In the meantime, I will continue to lurk and hope that these are just growing pains and that one day UF will be the community that it once was.
  6. Shake ya groove thang, shake ya groove thang ... Awww come on, loosen up. Everyone around here is too serious. Dancing is fun!
  7. Well, I'm not in a private beta, so I'd still be willing to turn my PS3 on after a 7 month hiatus.
  8. I would turn on my PS3 and log in for the first time in 7 months. (I check my son's friends list to figure that one out.)
  9. I don't need a translator. We have multiple translators for each of the 6 Indian languages that we publish books in. I need a way to delegate tasks, with built-in reminders. I found this: https://wizeworker.appspot.com/ Anyone ever use it or hear of it?
  10. Our MS Office suite (on both my mac and the India mac) have Entourage and NOT Outlook.
  11. True Shane and I will use Outlook on the pc for those using the pc. But the problem is for our Mac Entourage users. Tasks can be created in Entourage but not assigned, so I am looking for an alternative solution. Also something else I wanted to clarify, what lead to this is that one of our translation center directors requested that I "remind" him about needing these files. And I USUALLY do. I will email once weekly until I receive the files, except when I am really busy and I forget. HOWEVER, I have my own work to worry about keeping track of, much less needing to remember to email someone else to "remind" them to do their job. So I figured if I could create some kind of task or calendar event to send to them to remind them, then the burden of remembering to remind someone to do their job so that I can do mine will be lifted.
  12. Ok, I know someone in here will be able to help with this one. I do my work on both a Mac and pc. We have three translation centers in India and two use a pc and one uses a Mac. Here is my problem ... I will send files over to India for them to correct and then return to me. There has been a real problem lately with the timeliness of the return of these files, so my first thought was that I would create a Task in my email program and assign it to the correct translation center, giving us both an easy way to organize and track these files. This will work fine with the pc users but WILL NOT work for the Mac users as we use MS Entourage and there is no "Assign Task" function. So my question is, what can I do that is similar in nature to the "Assign Task" feature? I've read about creating calendar events and then sharing the calender via an exchange server, but this is lost on me. I don't understand all of this tech talk, i.e. "exchange server." Also, whatever I decide to do needs to be RIDICULOUSLY EASY as our translation center staff is not too computer saavy. And it needs to be free, too. Any ideas from anyone?
  13. So sad! I watched him on Celebrity Rehab and was really rooting for him. He was obviously a tortured soul and it's sad that he couldn't overcome his addiction. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1659481/mike-starr-alice-in-chains-death.jhtml
  14. Got mine too! Thanks UF! Keep up the good work.
  15. I decoded the message not long after the contest was announced and so I figured that gave me a good chance to win since the disclaimer reads, "While supplies last." I haven't been officially notified or anything. And I could be wrong on the decode, but I don't think so. I was just thanking UF for the opportunity to win something else. MomsBF, c'mon! I am NO GOOD at this stuff, but I figured it out pretty quickly. I would give a hint but I don't want to get in trouble for doing so.
  16. I cracked the code! Anyone else do this?? Can't wait for my FREE Black Ops Strategy Guide. THANKS UF!!!
  17. I gotcha. I know I over analyze everything. LOL, sorry! But I got to thinking about how with the last Socom, the actual release date got pushed back or something and then the contest question popped into my mind.
  18. Sooo, just out of curiosity. What happens when the release date gets pushed back a week and it doesn't officially release on the date we have currently been told? Isn't this award a little premature? Or are we basing it on the first date that is put out there as opposed to the ACTUAL release date?
  19. Where's the Like button? Good stuff!
  20. I find it telling that we haven't heard the same kind of ownership of mistakes from the other party involved. Just sayin' ...
