    HELLO!!!!!!!

    uh, hey
  6. "Although the service itself will be free of charge, content will be available on the PlayStation Store, such as clothes, furniture and game specific accessories, which can be purchased, but some might be available free of charge. Content can also be unlocked on specific games. Larger apartments can be purchased that come with games such as billiards or a swimming pool.[14][15] Advertising will be a big part of Home, and Sony expects retailers to create their own lobbies and deploy them for commercial purposes. At first, Sony will stream advertising from their own Home servers. Later, other companies will be allowed to insert their own ads into the network, including dynamic advertising targeted at particular users.[16] All transactions within PlayStation Home will use the Sony Wallet system within the PlayStation Store, although ultimately transactions will be possible without leaving Home. Users will be able to make money in Home by using an auction service that will be implemented which will allow users to sell their Home assets and user-created content to other users. In a 2007 keynote speech, Phil Harrison described Home as a "Game 3.0" game.[citation needed] In addition to content sold, users will be able to earn certain content based on certain milestones in a game.[17]" I took that from wikipedia. Before anyone flames me for pasting something from a source that is user-generated, if you further investigate, that entire paragraph is an accurate description of home, generalized of course. Beta testers could maybe give you a more acute description (there are a couple on this board) but like Zero said, it gets old quick. Betas aren't that great in a sense that there are variables that you can't emulate, but that's not really my point. I wanted to respond to Tow's post because I think he kind of missed the point of Home. The main focus of Home isn't to "trick out" your virtual space, but rather to have a place you can go to and call your own. If you've read above, not everything will cost money, so that shouldn't be an issue either. I'm really excited because its going to add longevity to $60 PS3 games. Games that keep going up. Home is free, so are the lobbies they are going to be adding for these games. At least thats the way its being presented. Mini games, war lobbies, whatever, its cool features like that that will make games last longer for me. I guess its a discussion that could go back and forth, but Home could have a lot of advantages. I'm not really a hardcore gamer, I don't think, but I'm not aware of any set standard to define myself. It sucks that people have to chastise game companies because of lazy parents. I play video games to get my mind off of everyday things, not to live in a "pixelated world with pixelated couches" (not mocking, it's just a good quote.) I think Sony has done a couple different things to try and keep their console family-friendly, but until parents start taking, what can really be said? I don't want to make it seem like I'm not open to this discussion though. I'm interested in hearing what everyone has to say. Bottom line for me, I'm really excited. If you have a positive outlook for Home, you'll probably feel the same way.
  7. please tell me this is sarcasm... no i'm serious, the majority of people, especially the people who populate "malls" are jerks. i'm just speaking by experience.
  8. home will be awesome, given the information, imagine this scenario. Â you won't really have to leave your house to shop, which is cool. Â you can in fact go to a virtual mall, with friends or whatever. Â they've said retailers can buy virtual ad space and advertise via Home, and that could in fact be amazing. Â if you're inside Home and you come across a store that looks cool, go inside and see a cool product, open your web browser, look it up and get some reviews, decide its decent and buy it. Â it's all there. Â thats pretty cool to me, i hate going to actual malls because i hate dealing with real people. Â they irritate me. that along with the add-ons to games that have been advertised lately. Â i don't want to recycle all the shit that's been written about, but they mentioned being able to go into a virtual war room and use little virtual soldiers on tacmaps of levels in certain games. Â that's huge in my opinion. Â you can hash out game plans and give ideas for wars. Â they are also incorporating mini games as well. Â REALLY cool. Â its all in the hands of developers now. Â if sony teaches the developers how to use it, this WILL be revolutionary. Â SO much potential. Â i really can't wait. Â CZ HAPPY MAKE SMILEZ!

  13. that's correct, you can take your PC out of the equation and still be OK. as long as your modem and/or modem/router are still hooked up you will be able to get your ps3 online.

  21. i don't know, i'd say just look around if you're going to order over the internet, you can get them for around half the price of newegg. http://3btech.net/blal2laseata.html;_ylc=X1MDMjAyMjI3NjA5OQRfcgMyBGJ0A3Byb2QtY2xpY2sEZHN0aQNibGFsMmxhc2VhdGEEaW5BcnJheQMEc2kDM2J0ZWNoBHNyY2kDYmxhbDJsYWhhZHJ1BHZfbW4DclByb2RBZmYEdl9vcmQDMgR2X3JpZAM2X211ZF8xNjI2MDk4NTgxBHZfc24Dc3RvcmVzLnByb2R1Y3RyZWNvcw-- ^^ free shipping. just shop around. check sites like pricewatch.com they usually have good deals.
  22. if you don't get the enclosure, you have to put the ps3 hard drive into your laptop, change the bios to boot from the CDROM and use either the windows installation CD or a third party software to wipe your hard drive. i'd recommend DBAN (http://dban.sourceforge.net/) it's a good program. this program will wipe your drive for you, it's really simple, just boot your computer (you have to tell it to boot from the cd-rom in the BIOS) and type "autonuke". when its done, turn off your computer, put in the old hard drive and use your laptop like you did before. like krazy said before though, the enclosure is the easiest option, and if you had more time you could get one for like 5-6 bucks on the internet, but they have them for 20 at best buy.
  23. you can just take it out of the ps3 and plug it into a laptop, and format it. no harm will be done to the laptop at all. when you're done, plug the old laptop hard drive in and all will be well. if you don't have a laptop handy, buy an enclosure, you can get them cheap, but normally they are cheaper online. if you're held down by time you'll have to go to the store if you choose the enclosure route. if you buy an enclosure you will be able to stick the hard drive from your ps3 into the case (enclosure) and connect it to any desktop pc vi USB cable, then you can format it through the management console or whatever application you may want to use. good luck!
