Hello, fight fans! Are you ready to get your game on with Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4? The amazing team at Other Ocean Interactive is putting the final touches on this fantastic version of the Capcom classic. I’d love to get it to you sooner, but honestly, we’re playing it too much, so you’ll just have to wait! All the characters, all the levels, and all of the DLC that have been launched so far will be included in the PS4 version of the game. Also, a few of you hardcore Street Fighters out there said that there was minor input lag in the controls of Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS3. Well, don’t worry: we’ve eliminated it to make the PS4 edition the ultimate version on any platform, so it’ll be good to go for all your tournament needs! We are aiming for the digital release of Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4 on May 26th, 2015 at a price of $24.99. This would launch simultaneously in the Americas and Europe. I’m really excited to share the PS4 version of this classic with you, and if you want to fight me online, I’m usually the guy playing as E Honda and getting my butt royally kicked! Hi everyone! I’m Nicholas McDonnell from Samurai Punk and I’m really happy to announce that we’re bringing our game Screencheat to PS4! We’d like to share some info on the game, why we think you’ll have a blast playing it and hopefully answer any questions you may have about the game. Screencheat is a split-screen, multiplayer shooter where everyone is invisible and you have to “screencheat†by looking at other players’ screens. What was once taboo is now the key to your success! Screencheating is made fun and easy through our maps and weapons, which are designed to maximise the joy of destroying your enemies. Maps are color coded to break the space into quadrants, then using distinct structural elements and smaller landmarks you can triangulate your opponents position. Weapons give off trails and visual tells which also reveal your position, so if your enemy misses, you get an easy shot at revenge. So let’s talk about guns. Screencheat has a lot of guns, 10 guns in fact, each completely different from one another. First off we have the iconic Blunderbuss, a trusty, reliable weapon that blasts away opponents at short distances. From there we move onto weapons like the SörgeÃ¥n which fires a rocket propelled yo-yo mace, and the Hobby Horse, a toy horse and sword that you ride on at lightning speed to skewer opponents. Remember, all the weapons are one hit kills, but they reveal your position, so thinking about each shot will reap dividends on the battlefield. The maps themselves are set in a color-coded world. Players must duke it out in tight spaces built for fast encounters, where you’re rewarded for fast reflexes, getting in your opponent’s head and of course a healthy amount of screencheating. Screencheat features 10 maps, each with a different playstyle. We begin with “Museum,†the quintessential entry-point for Screencheaters, a twisting, multi-levelled building with distinct landmarks to help you track your opponents and shortcuts to get the jump on them. Other maps include the open “Gardenâ€, featuring two opposing mansions connected by an underground passageway and the wild “Loop,†a tea house in space where the gravity loops around, allowing players to flow seamlessly from the top to the bottom of the map and back again. With loads of game modes from classic Deathmatch to the unique Cluedo-like Murder Mystery. Screencheat’s game modes provide spice to your gameplay which can be seasoned further with game mode customization and crazy mutators. All up Screencheat features 9 distinct game modes (as well as team variants) but with these customization tools you’re able to create tons of variations and new modes all together to play with your friends. Screencheat features online play for between two and eight players, allowing you to battle your friends over the web with a mix of local and online play. In online mode, all players’ screens are visible in splitscreen, just as if you were playing locally! You’ll be able to get your cheat on when Screencheat comes out on PS4. Thanks for reading! Please ask us any questions you might have, we’re happy to answer them! View the full article

Hey everyone in PlayStation land, it’s Nathan from Capy here! You might remember us from such titles as Critter Crunch, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes or Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. As some of you may already know, our latest game Super Time Force Ultra (STFU for short, and yes its intentional) is headed your way soon, landing on both the PS4 and Vita as a cross-buy title! STFU is all kinds of crazy: a time-travelling, bullet-spraying, rocket-launching, dinosaur-skateboarding (huh?), kaleidoscopic orgy of explosions, jokes, and pixelated madness. Its a game we’re crazy proud of and crazy excited to bring to you guys. Half the fun of STFU comes from controlling a cast of powerful, kooky, and sometimes downright bizarre playable characters (19 playable characters if anybody’s counting!) With the jump to PS4 & Vita we thought it only fitting to add a few new faces to the mix. Check it out… Last december at PlayStation Experience we announced that none other than President of Sony Worldwide Studios himself, Shuhei Yoshida was joining the Super Time Force Ultra squad as a playable character! With a weaponized smartphone, Shuhei Yoshida kills with kindness–blasting through enemies with heart emoticons and relentlessly positive tweet rockets! But Shu didn’t come alone – in fact, he brought a couple very close friends. Everyone’s favourite nameless, berobed figure from the PlayStation hit Journey is coming along for the ride! Using grace, agility, and of course, scarves the Journey traveler offers an entirely unique way to encounter the carnage-fuelled levels of STFU. Having rid London of beastly ghouls in the Order: 1886, Knight of the Round Table, Sir Galahad will also be suiting up with the Super Time Force. Wielding a Luger pistol and a chaotic arc rifle, Sir Galahad provides players with an electrifying jolt of action. We’ve also created special Trophy challenges for many of the characters in STFU, including our new PlayStation recruits. You’ll have to get all of them, and more, if you want to unlock STFU’s Platinum! That’s all for today, crew. We hope you find the… TIME… to play STFU when it drops on PS4 and PS Vita very soon! Hey PlayStation fans! I’m David, a writer and developer at Kiz Studios, and I’m excited to bring you an exclusive first look at Trans-Galactic Tournament, our fast-paced, free-to-play MOBA, developed in co-operation with Hibernum Creations and designed and optimized for PS4. “What if the Star Wars cantina starred in an 80’s cartoon, which suddenly broke out into a football match, which suddenly broke out into Wrestlemania?†It’s a weird start to a design document, but the Tournament’s universe is everything we love: monsters, space and sports, clenched together in a fist and ready to punch the lights out of the world of online multiplayer games. Trans-Galactic Tournament is faster than almost any MOBAs you’ve played. As much a love-letter to the FPS deathmatches of our youth as any MOBA, TGT is about thrilling 4v4 team strategy and the frantic kill-or-be-killed moments in-between. Our three launch modes all offer something different than the MOBA modes you’re used to. Plunderball is Capture-the-Flag meets Thunderdome. Conquest is our many-headed Hydra mutation of King-of-the-Hill, where the challenge isn’t capturing Control Points, it’s keeping them. And Deathmatch, well– look, we gave our Champs fists for a reason. But making those fists connect is going to take skill! TGT’s combat isn’t the stand-and-click mathfest of other MOBAs. In TGT, a well-timed hit can blast an opponent over a ravine for a one-hit kill, and the best players can parkour over obstacles with well-timed jumps- or even use opponents as platforms to reach shortcuts or chase down fleeing enemies! Every option is tightly balanced: whether you’re a beginner or a veteran, victory’s only factor is how you play. There’s no in-match levelling; instead, our Champions are customizable outside of battle to suit your unique play style. Our Champs are unique in a lot of ways beyond that, too. Our starting roster is drawn from fever dreams and the deepest reaches of space. Fueled by fate, glory and madness, their ranks include fearless amphibians, alien gladiators, hungry vampires and straight-up platypi. My favorite is Rook, an ancient living statue with the power to raise walls and teleport across the battlefield. She’s not very strong on her own, but paired with a bruiser like Brutus, she’ll ruin anybody’s day. We’re launching with a ton of content: 3 multiplayer modes, 6 arenas, and 10 launch Champions. A free weekly Champ rotation lets everybody test drive new fighters, and every Champion and stat-altering item can be unlocked through play- it’s how our devs do it, anyway. If that’s not enough, we already have plans for more Champions, Arenas and Modes post-launch– including exclusive free content just for PlayStation Plus members! Trans-Galactic Tournament will be available for PlayStation 4 soon, so head over to www.playtgt.com and sign up for the newsletter to receive all the latest news and updates! See you in the arena, Champs! View the full article

Billy from Ruffian Games here, to give you some info on the fantastic game that our team has been hard at work on — it’s called Hollowpoint, and it’ll be available on PS4 this year. At the highest possible level I would describe, Hollowpoint as a four-player, cooperative, online game that blends tactical and action-packed combat experiences with procedurally built levels and a neverending supply of enemies, with a full progression and customization focused meta-game to support it all. That’s quite the mouthful of gaming goodness, but what does it all really mean? The game is played in large 3D cross section environments, made up of multiple exterior areas, internal rooms and corridors, and stairwells that connect them all together — imagine a huge ant farm, but replace the ants with groups of well-armed men and women trying to kill each other with big guns. The players are constrained along the 2D axis at the front of the scene near the cross section — or the glass of the ant farm — so they can move along the 2D plane running, jumping, grabbing, moving in and out of cover, etc. The Enemy has free reign of the full environments, they emerge from the distance and, depending on the enemy, they will find good cover positions to attack from or they move from cover to cover as they move towards the 2D plane where they are most dangerous. The player can fire directly along the 2D plane or they can seamlessly switch to fire into the depth of the scene at the touch of a button. It’s a really interesting and intuitive mix of an old school 2D platform shooter and 3D shooting gallery gameplay that I’ve not seen another game use in this constantly switching, seamless way. This is the core mechanic of Hollowpoint that everything else is built around. The game can be played alone, and it’s a lot of fun, but it really comes alive when you play online with others. Playing cooperatively with up to three other players isn’t just about safety in numbers; it’s much more than that. If one of your Hollowpoints gets injured in a co-op game, they can be revived by one of your teammates, but in a solo game the only option is to teleport the injured player out and switch them with one of your backup Hollowpoints, leaving you a man down — you can only bring a maximum of four Hollowpoints into any Contract (what we call missions in-game). Many of the Abilities that you have are team buffs that are transferred to any teammates who are within effective range when the Ability is activated, so activating them alone doesn’t allow them to be as effective as they could be. Every enemy kill that you or one of your teammates makes will provide a reward of XP and pickups for Ammo, Credits and Health. These exact same rewards are also given to any teammates who are close enough when the enemy is taken out. Playing solo means you can only tackle one room at a time, but if you have teammates you can deal with threats in multiple rooms at the same time, allowing you a much better chance of completing the Objective faster and getting a Gold Level Credit Bonus. All of this on top of the obvious rewards of simply dividing the attention of the enemy and providing more firepower to take them down. Alone you are powerful, together you are unstoppable! There’s still a lot more involved with Hollowpoint, how the procedural environments and the Contracts are pieced together to create constantly varied experiences, all of the different Objectives that make up the Contracts, all of the different Weapons, Abilities, Powerups, and Suit Attachments you will use, and how they’re all accessed and upgraded — essentially the entire meta-game… …But there might be a word limit for this blog post and we shouldn’t give away everything just yet, so we’ll talk more about all of that in the future. Until then, find some great co-op partners to team up with so you can take on Hollowpoint later this year. View the full article

score submissions PSBlog Feed: The Latest on Alienation
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
After a long hiatus from the public eye the latest Housemarque title, “Alienation,†is once again ready to see the light of day. Since the reveal at Gamescom 2014 very little information has been leaked about the project and all conspiracies have been squashed. But now we are happy to release the latest batch of samples, straight from the lab, including some new screenshots. One of the main draw to Alienation from a developer’s perspective is the challenge of creating an excellent multiplayer dynamic. Since the game features three main character classes, plenty of loot, and a ton of weapon customizations, the number of different team setups is astronomical. The first reaction to seeing the gameplay footage might feel a bit like confetti shot from a minigun (we like explosions), but the game actually relies heavily on tactical teamwork amidst of all the chaos. Our Allied Forces have come across violent specimens ranging from human-like foot soldiers to extraterrestrial flesh mountains, and while they are spreading across all corners of the earth, their focus is clearly to gather at strategic military locations away from populated areas. We’ve met them in all weather conditions and even in the darkest winter nights the hostiles do not relent for a second. The only way to defeat the enemy is with uncanny tactics combined with superior firepower. Customizing your character layouts will give you and your team a distinct advantage over the beasts from beyond. Many soldiers have returned from the field in a body bag after heading out with too much confidence. The run-and-gun strategy will get you a few victories, but it will not win the war. Coordination and building trust with your teammates will ultimately be the difference between life and death. This trial will not be an easy one, but let’s make sure that the slimebags know that they have come to the wrong planet. Tune in to the different comms channels in the near future for more info on the invaders. The frequency of contact with the hostiles is increasing at an alarming rate and soon we will need to reach out for brothers in arms and strike back on a global scale. In the end, only one species can be on the top of the food chain and I’m damn sure I’ll be having some Alien BBQ for dinner. View the full article-

Hi PlayStation.Blog readers, it’s been a while since our last update on Shadow Of The Beast — our long silence has been because we’ve been working hard to turn the concept we showed last time into a reality. And, though we haven’t quite finished that journey yet, we wanted to take this chance to share with you some early shots from the game. We talked a little in our previous blog entry about the impact that the original games had on us as kids. When our team started putting together the concepts for our take on Shadow of the Beast, one thing we kept coming back to was how important it was to us that we made sure that our game stirred up that same level of emotion, especially through the visually striking, alien landscapes of Karamoon. The screenshots you see here are taken from the harsh, arid wasteland that is Karamoon’s desert. The balance between beauty and brutality has been a running theme for us while we’ve been building the game. Our main character, Aarbron, was forged by the evil Maletoth as a living weapon — and his journey through this beautiful, vibrant world is a savage one. We’ve tried to find ways to bring both sides of this juxtaposition to life to create a unique and intriguing setting for the gameplay to live within. Alongside creating a range of sweeping vistas and strange creatures, we have also been busy refining the game’s core combat and platforming to try and find just the right blend to make a compelling experience for players. It’s been a long road to get here (Especially if you are counting back to our original inspiration!) and we thank you for both bearing with us and taking the time to read about our progress. We hope to have more news to share with you before too long! View the full article

We’re a couple of weeks out from Beta for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture on PS4, which is incredibly exciting and quite scary in equal measure. There’s always a point in every game development where you start counting down the days and hours, and everything gears itself around the question of “right, we’re shipping this thing, are we ready?†Everyone’s time is split between chewing through bugs and carving out time for as much polish and finesse as we can. There’s always something that can be improved. Late tweaks to design, signposting, player flow, discovery — this is all still happening. Rotating a prop by a few degrees can make a dramatic difference to how you navigate a space, or the likelihood of encouraging an area to be explored in more detail. Small adjustments to things like audio volume, or the area boundaries of ambient or procedural sound, can have an impact on the emotional tone of a space or moment, which has a knock-on effect to things like pacing or the interpretation of a story beat. There’s some big, exciting changes too. This month Jessica (our talented studio head and composer) went to Air Studios to work with a world class team of musicians and engineers and came out with a soundtrack that is going to be one of the highlights of game music this year (actually, I think it’s better than that, it’s one of the best game soundtracks ever created). We’ve spent a fantastic week implementing it into the world and it’s transforming the experience, adding a huge jolt of warmth, depth, and humanity. These are the most rewarding moments in development, where the game leaps forwards and just transforms around you. It’s really exciting and makes all of the grunt work worthwhile. So the end is in sight. We’re going to announce a launch date shortly, so stay tuned for that. I’m so proud of the team and the game we’ve made. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is going to be really different, an apocalypse like no other, and we think it’s going to be good. To give you an updated look at the game, there is a new trailer above, which is focused a bit more on the tone and story of the game — we’ve got a lot of beautiful world to show you, but we wanted to go small and intimate with this one, be a bit different with it. Finally, you get one of those amazing music tracks from that soundtrack I was just raving about. Enjoy! View the full article

Hello PlayStation fans! I’m Noah from iam8bit, here to tell you a bit about the AWESOME Hotline Miami 2 Collector’s Edition Vinyl Set that’s NOW available for PlayStation! Hotline Miami 2 Collector’s Edition Vinyl Set | iam8bit We met Devolver Digital at last year’s SXSW Gaming Convention in Austin. At that time, we were already huge fans of Hotline Miami and couldn’t shake the urge to collaborate on something special for the release of the sequel. Even a year out from release, the hype for the game was already palpable. Music is such an integral part of the Hotline Miami experience. When we started discussing the vinyl design with Dennaton Games, we had one specific goal in mind: Let’s make the most BADASS vinyl set possible. Even while working their butts off to finish the game, Dennaton kindly and carefully curated the tracks that would go on the vinyl, and their friend and excellent artist, Niklas Åkerblad, worked diligently on the album design. The soundtrack for the first Hotline Miami was a big pair of Reebok Pumps to fill. But the fans worldwide have spoken, blogged, shoutcasted and tweeted, enthusiastically proclaiming that the Hotline Miami 2 vinyl set has delivered the goods. Featuring dozens of incredible artists from around the world like: Jasper Byrne, El Tigr3, El Huervo, Perturbator, Magic Sword, and more – the album packs a combo punch of amazing sound and energy. The discs are bright and heavy, the music sounds loud and clear, and the art looks phenomenal! As a nifty trick, the album jacket expands to a whopping 12 x 37 inches – and a few folks have even told us that they’re planning to frame it! (Yeah, yeah – we’re tossing around a lot of superfluous adjectives and exclamation points, but it’s because we mean it. This soundtrack gets played probably a bit too much around the iam8bit office.) The fan response to date has been truly heartwarming. After selling out two pressings for PC, we’re now on our third (and final) — and we’re so happy to finally be able to offer a version for PlayStation. The third pressing is extremely limited, and once these sell out, they won’t be coming back! SO JUST HOW MUCH AWESOMENESS IS PACKED INTO THIS SET? Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita You get a download code for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number with 3-way Cross Buy! 3-Disc, 180 gram vinyl featuring 28 tracks from the game All three discs are 180 grams, making them less prone to warping over time. For audiophiles, this means premium quality, through and through. Beautiful tri-fold jacket with art by Niklas Åkerblad This giant work of art is simply stunning in person. Pictures just don’t do it justice. FULL digital soundtrack download with 49 music tracks You get a code to download the entire Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack. Replica Hotline Miami phone card Straight out of the 80’s, this phone card is authentically made out of thick plastic, and to reveal your code you need to scratch it off like a lotto ticket. The best part is that everyone’s a winner! **We should mention that while the records are completely region free, the game code will only work with North American PSN accounts** You can pre-order here! Again – We’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to Devolver Digital, Dennaton Games and of course, all of the Hotline Miami fans. We can’t wait for you to start spinning these records on your turntable! It’s been a little more than two years since Skullgirls‘ Indiegogo campaign ended, and we’re nearing the end of production of the DLC that our fans funded. The latest addition to the lineup is Beowulf, a pro wrestler loosely inspired by the epic poem of the same name. You can download Beowulf on PS3 completely free this Friday, April 17th! A well-meaning meathead, Beowulf comes out of retirement to fight the Skullgirl only to find he’s in for much more than he bargained for. PS4/Vita UpdateHold on to your butts, because we’ve got a bunch of new info on the PS4/PS Vita version of Skullgirls for you! First up, Skullgirls on PS4/PS Vita will receive a slight name change — Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Since these versions will be the ultimate Skullgirls experience, with all the new characters, new modes, and features, we wanted to differentiate it a bit from Skullgirls Encore, while also making it similar. Why did we want to keep the subtitles similar? Because Skullgirls 2nd Encore will support cross-platform play across the entire PlayStation family: PS4, PS3, and PS Vita users will all be able to play against each other online! Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be cross buy as well — we haven’t settled on the price yet, but you’ll get both the PS4 and PS Vita versions when you buy one. Note that current PS3 owners won’t get the new releases free — we’re putting a lot of work into these versions so we can’t just give them away, but we think the new features and improvements will be worth the upgrade! We’ll have more information on the release date later, but hopefully this will get you more excited until then! Robo-Fortune Update The final Skullgirls DLC character, Robo-Fortune, is almost complete! She’s got lasers galore, tons of puns, and comes with our most ambitious stage yet. Everything here is still work-in-progress, but as you can see she’s coming along nicely! View the full article

Hello Playstation.Blog, and fans! I’m back with another announcement from the land of Klei Entertainment. Today we are pleased to announce that Invisible, Inc. is coming to PS4 for its exclusive console debut. PlayStation has been an incredible partner to work with, and we’re proud to once again bring our newest game here. Invisible, Inc. is about leading your team of elite spies to infiltrate the world’s most secure complexes. As the Operator, your job is to pick targets of opportunity, steal from the corporations, and upgrade your agents and programs in order to prepare for the final standoff. The world is different every time, and the corporations are constantly adjusting to topple your plans. As with Don’t Starve, your choices always matter so if your agents expire, they are gone for good. Only the best operators will make it to the end. The amount of build combinations that this game brings is incredible; each playthrough is different and you can never quite expect what challenge may be around the next corner. I’ve personally sunk hundreds of hours into the game, and I’m still learning new strategies. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do! Key Features Character selection: Start with any of the 10 unlockable agents in the game, plus 6 agent variants, and 6 starting programs to crack corporate security. Deep customization of builds: each playthrough is different as you create your own strategy using agents, items, augments, and programs, and adapt to your surroundings. Randomly generated world: locations, threats, and loot are randomly generated so each playthrough is vastly different and you’ll never get complacent. Choose your own game mode: with 5 different game modes and extensive custom generation options, each player can play the way they prefer. Fully animated cutscenes and voice over: with hundreds of lines of voice over, great animation, and fully animated cutscenes, we didn’t spare any expense to make an immersive experience. As the trailer above suggests, we don’t have a set launch date yet, but we’re working hard to get it to you as soon as we can. There’s a lot of work to be done, and as soon as we have more information, we’ll post it here. Thanks again for supporting our studio and its games! It’s a pleasure to bring them to you. Hi PlayStation.Blog readers! Here at Team17 Towers we have some really exciting news to share with you guys. We’re thrilled to announce that together with independent developer Mouldy Toof, we’ll be launching the award-winning, sandbox prison escape game The Escapists on PS4. A strategy game of captive survival and daring schemes, The Escapists gives you the “freedom†to live the life of a prison inmate, plotting and pulling off a daring escape! Escaping won’t be easy, though. You’ll have to work around the strict prison schedule and avoid the unwanted attention of guards. Craft weapons and tools found (or stolen) from within the prison, but beware of cell shakedowns. Get a job or perform “favors†for your fellow inmates to purchase vital supplies, all while scouting escape routes. All that stands between you and freedom is a perfectly executed escape plan. It’s Make or Break Time. There are 6 unique prisons to escape — from the minimal security of Center Perks to the harsh confines of the Stalag Flucht POW camp. On top of that there are 6 different methods to bust your way out including digging out and prison takeovers! You’ll need some cash to put your escape plan to action. You can earn those vital funds by choosing one of the 10 prison jobs including Laundry, Janitor, Mail Man, Metal Shop, Kitchen, Wood Work, Tailor, Deliveries, Gardener, and Library work. Or you can even perform favor requests from the other inmates to earn some extra income. There are more than 200 items in the game to find including 50+ craftable items. Craft tools such as Cutters, Shovels, Sheet Ropes, and weapons such as the Sock Mace, Comb Blade, or Cup of Molten Chocolate! The Escapists will be coming soon to PS4! Thanks for reading — we’re looking forward to hearing tales of all your escape plans soon! View the full article

At PlayStation Experience in December we introduced the world to a new title we have been working on at San Diego Studio — Kill Strain. For those of you that don’t know, Kill Strain is a top-down shooter with a momentum twist, bringing intense 5v2v5 combat to PS4. With always evolving combat, two teams of humans fight each other and a third team of mutants trying to infect and turn their enemies into mutated allies. With the mutants able to turn their enemies into allies and change the teams of battle, Kill Strain offers competitive and evolving gameplay where no two matches are the same. Another aspect of Kill Strain we are proud of is its development under our community-driven Games as a Service initiative. The goal of our Games as a Service initiative is to make great games; and who knows more about the games you want to play than you, our amazing PlayStation community? I would like to invite you to join the Kill Strain development process with us, and help us make Kill Strain a game that can continue to grow and evolve. Much like our other community first: Games as a Service titles: Guns Up! and Drawn to Death, Kill Strain will begin with a slow roll-out: with private access testing, closed beta periods, and ultimately launching into an open beta. This schedule is designed for you to join us in the development process, and help shape Kill Strain into the game and community you want to be a part of. The beginning of this journey starts tonight. At 5:00 PM Pacific on the San Diego Studio Twitch channel, we will host our inaugural Kill Strain livestream. We encourage you to tune in, ask questions and give us your thoughts on this early stage of the game. We also encourage you to head to http://killstrain.com and register for our community. Community members will be first in line for a chance to participate in the various Kill Strain tests — which will soon begin their roll-out. We also have been known to be kind to those passionate and helpful within our communities (Hint Hint). We’re excited for you to get a look at Kill Strain this evening and join us in our journey. See you all in the live stream tonight! View the full article

We are amazed and very grateful for the way in which the community has embraced Bloodborne. As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Bloodborne has now sold through over one million copies worldwide. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project! We also wanted to provide more information regarding the next patch for Bloodborne. As we confirmed previously, the 1.03 update seeks to reduce certain load times in addition to performance optimizations. The patch also resolves an issue that resulted in abnormal game behavior after many continuous hours of play. Additional fixes will be included as well. The team is currently working towards a global release of the 1.03 patch before the end of the month. We will try to provide more specific timing as soon as we are able. We’re continuing to monitor popular communities and forums for feedback, in addition to the comments below, so please share any other issues or questions you may have. Please note: online play will need to be disabled for a short period of time to facilitate server-side updates. In this case, and in the case of any future server maintenance downtime, it has been determined that starting at 1am PT on a non-Friday weeknight will disrupt the fewest players. We will target this time for any necessary future server maintenance downtime, which will only last a couple hours in each instance. On behalf of the Bloodborne development team, thank you for your ongoing passion and support. Network Issues for Certain usersIf you are having trouble accessing online features, please check your NAT type and ensure proper ports on your network are open. How to check your NAT type Please check your NAT type by following these steps on your PS4. PS4 Home Menu -> Settings -> Network -> View Connection Status -> NAT Type Check whether it is Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3. Online functionality may be restricted when playing under NAT Type 3. Opening ports / Port Forwarding The following shows the ports necessary to connect to PSN as well as Bloodborne’s online servers. If you are having trouble connecting, please ensure that these ports are open on your network hub. Port number required to connect to PSN: TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080 UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658 Port number required to connect Bloodborne’s online servers: TCP: 18671, 20443 UDP:9305, 9306 Please check your network hub or contact your provider for more details. *If you are unsure of your network environment, please either refer to your network hub manual or contact your internet service provider. Hello! I’m Mo, founder of Vertex Pop, a tiny independent video game studio based in Toronto, Canada. And by tiny, I mean it’s just me. The last time I was here I introduced you all to We Are Doomed. I’m excited to say that the game is out today on PS4 in North America. To recap: We Are Doomed is a twin-stick shooter where you zap polygon baddies with an absurdly overpowered laserbeam. The laserbeam can be charged into a Superbeam, which goes all the way across the screen zapping everything it touches in short order. The game features a unique lo-fi aesthetic, with bold shapes, glitching geometry, and neon colors. This time around, I’d like to talk about the game modes, and give you a behind-the-scenes look at the design considerations behind each of them. Waves mode is a series of 30 waves that starts out pretty chill and quickly escalates into hyper-intense action. As the primary game mode, it’s the first thing players will see, so it needs to get to the point quickly and make a great first impression. This means no cutscenes, no overbearing tutorial, and lots of laserbeaming action. Waves mode also introduces all the baddies along the way. As you progress, different combinations of baddies keep it fresh all the way through. Even though the general flow of each wave is fixed, there’s a randomization aspect that’ll keep you on your toes. I want players to be able to chill and enjoy the game without being super stressed out. There’s a certain familiarity to each wave, which helps you get into the groove and zone out a little. There are also checkpoints every 10 waves. For the Trophy hunters and high-score chasers, keep in mind that checkpoints start you out with a score of zero. So to rank well you’ll need to go from wave 1 to 30 at once. Of course, there’s a Trophy for doing that. And another one for running through the entire game without losing a life. Like I said, hyper-intense! Endless mode throws an endless barrage of baddies at you, and asks the classic question: How many zones can you survive? Here’s where I hold nothing back. You’ll need everything you learned in Waves mode to do well here. You might think that making an extra hard mode is a straight-forward “turn up all the dials†thing for a game developer, but it’s actually a huge responsibility! Making something difficult means that it has to be fair and well put together. If I’m going to ask for a lot from my players, I need to make sure I put in the hard work myself! As I ramped up the difficulty in Endless mode, I re-examined every aspect of the game to find areas that felt unfair or could be improved upon. I endlessly (pun fully intended) tweaked the player movement, hit boxes, camera logic, and enemy AI, among other things. The result is a game mode that’s challenging and fair, and the process of developing it made the game on the whole even better. We Are Doomed is out today on PS4. Whether you want to chill out with the pretty colors, beat a friend’s high score, or even top the PSN leaderboards, I hope you’ll find something to love. View the full article

We’re very excited to announce a new feature that has been requested by fans of The Order: 1886. In the latest patch you’ll find our powerful new Photo Mode. Fans expressed an overwhelming desire to see and share the realism, beauty, and detail of our Neo-Victorian world. With Photo Mode, you’ll be able to compose, capture, and share stunning images of your favorite moments, characters, and environments. Note: Enabling Photo Mode will disable the Camera Bias option if you have turned it on in the Controls menu. Developed by Ready At Dawn from the ground up, we took a slightly different approach with our version of Photo Mode while trying to keep many aspects of it familiar so that users would immediately feel at home using the feature, which includes a fully untethered camera. To learn about our Photo Mode in The Order: 1886, please watch this tutorial video. The Order: 1886 | PlayStation.com As shown in the video, we’ve added the ability for you to play the game with your selected Colour Grading. Want to see what The Order: 1886 feels like if you play through it in high-contrast, gritty, black & white? Since The Order: 1886 is completely rendered in real-time with no pre-rendered frames, you’re able to play in a customized look from beginning to end. If at any time you want to change Color Grading styles during gameplay, simply enter Photo Mode and make your adjustment. You can also reset the option if you wish to play the game as it was originally intended. To kick off Photo Mode, we’re also running a special contest (click here to visit the official page and legal rules), looking to find what our fans are capable of with this new addition to The Order: 1886. Our team has worked to give aspiring in-game photographers the best creative resources, and will reward the best of the best with prizes that include team-signed prints of your photo and The Order: 1886 swag packs! Each in-game photograph must represent one of the following four categories. Members of our development team will select their Top 3 for each category, for 12 winners total. You may enter one photo per category: Landscape Still Life Character Portrait Combat How To Enter: STEP 1: Follow @TheOrder1886 Twitter account STEP 2: Using the PS4 Share Function, tweet your photo(s) to @TheOrder1886 and include the hashtag #ContestEntry AND which of the four categories (Landscape / Still Life/ Character Portrait / Combat) you are submitting for in your tweet: The Order: 1886 Photo Mode Contest begins right now, and will end on Midnight PST, April 27th. We hope you’ll enjoy this fun new tool and we can’t wait to see what incredible images you’ll create with Photo Mode and The Order: 1886. Good luck and good shooting! View the full article

Welcome back to PlayStation Underground, our new online show about video games. Today, we go underground with one of the goriest, most visceral fighting games in the industry. That’s right, it’s Mortal Kombat X, which is out tomorrow on PS4. Your stomach is not ready. We play nearly 20 minutes with NetherRealm Studios Community Specialist Tyler Lansdown. Not only does Tyler absolutely decimate me as Goro, but he reveals incredible insight into the new style variation system, the community-wide factions, and also shows off a Fatality or two for good measure. Not for the faint of heart, folks! Let me know what you think in the comments below, and remember that we’ll be back soon with more Underground in the weeks to come. Enjoy the show. If you’re the least bit squeamish, you may want to cover your eyes — the iconic fighting series is back, along with its wince-inducing collection of finishing moves. Mortal Kombat X storms onto PS4 this week with eye-popping graphics (in some cases literally), a new style variation system, and a huge roster of fighters. Like its 2011 predecessor, Mortal Kombat X retains many of the elements that gamers fell in love with back during the original run, but with enhanced control and new bone-crunching X-ray attacks. And by enabling players to select between three different styles for each fighter, the already sizable collection of combatants just about triples. If Mortal Kombat X is a little too graphic for your tastes, consider the retro-inspired Titan Souls. In this ambitious indie project, players only have a single arrow to defeat monstrous bosses and explore a strange and wondrous world. For a full list of games coming to PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy The Drop! New PlayStation Games This Week Best of Arcade Games — Deluxe Edition PS Vita — Digital Brick Breaker, Tetraminos, Bubble Buster and Air Hockey: rediscover 4 timeless classics with this Best of Arcade Games compilation. Try out these updated classics, for both beginners and experts. Take direct control of the ball in Brick Breaker, carefully place your pieces in Tetraminos, solve lots of puzzles in Bubble Buster, and test your reflexes in Air Hockey. Bloxiq PS Vita — Digital Bloxiq takes the classic concept of color matching and turns it on its head. Manipulate blocks to connect four or more of the same color above, beside, or even through. Conquer obstacles such as bombs, locks, and hidden blocks in devilishly clever and addicting challenges. Gradius V PS2 Classic — Digital An admiration for frenzied space fighting is a prerequisite for this classic side-scrolling shooter! Medieval Defenders PS Vita — Digital Defend your ancestral castle — show the invader who the master is! Build towers, save money, train your spells, and your enemy will be vanquished. The middle ages was a dark time. Every neighbor wants to encroach on the lands you rightfully own. Don’t give your enemies reason to think that you’re weaker than them! Mortal Kombat X PS4 — Digital, Retail Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with all new gameplay. We Are Doomed PS4 — Digital We Are Doomed is a twin-stick shooter where you zap polygon baddies with an absurdly overpowered laserbeam. Dive head-first into the action with reckless ambition, charge the Superbeam, and zap everything out of existence in an instant.
