As you may have seen, earlier this week we debuted a new trailer for What Remains of Edith Finch, a new PS4-exclusive adventure from the same team that brought you the enigmatic The Unfinished Swan on PS3. The game follows the titular character as she returns to her remote rural family home to unravel the mysteries of her forebears. It’s essentially a compendium of short stories, each focusing on a different member of the Finch clan and built around a distinct gameplay mechanic. As a big fan of The Unfinished Swan, I caught up with the game’s Creative Director Ian Dallas to delve a little deeper into his vision for the game. And duly, I learned enough to peg Edith Finch as one of the most intriguing prospects in 2016 for PS4. Read on to find out more, but to cut to the chase, any game that channels Edgar Allen Poe, Dark Souls, This American Life, and Twin Peaks, all tied up in a nice, heavy existential bow, has to be worth keeping an eye on, right? What DNA does Edith Finch share with The Unfinished Swan, both in terms of its gameplay and its approach to storytelling? Ian Dallas: Both games are about exploring the unknown. In The Unfinished Swan the unknown was more concrete — a white landscape you uncovered by splatting it — whereas in What Remains of Edith Finch it’s more about the mystery of why all of your family members have died and the murky nature of stories, where you never know the full truth — just one person’s perspective on it. From a mechanics standpoint, both games also make an effort to constantly change up what the player is doing to help keep things interesting and also put players in the mindset of these characters. As a player you’re discovering new gameplay mechanics in the same way that the characters are discovering new worlds. What are your cultural touchpoints with Edith Finch? Edgar Allen Poe? Roald Dahl? Brothers Grimm? Stanley Kubrick? Ian Dallas: The genre of short stories people call ‘weird fiction’ has been the biggest source of inspiration for us. That includes well-known folks like Poe, Lovecraft, Borges, and Neil Gaiman — along with some new favorites like Lord Dunsany, Jean Ray, and Kelly Link. Other big influences for us include One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, Ugetsu, and with anything I do I’m sure there’s a bit of Alice in Wonderland in there somewhere. Edith appears very human and vulnerable — she’s unarmed, she’s got no special powers. She defies traditional video game archetypes, which is obviously refreshing, but how do you sell that to the player and make her a heroine they want to inhabit? Ian Dallas: Edith is a meant to be a bit of a mystery for players. It’s not so much a question of getting people to root for her as simply wanting to know what’s going to happen next in this world. In keeping with our focus on the unknown, there’s a lot that isn’t clear about Edith at the beginning. We know she’s coming back to this house but we don’t know why. Like with the stories you find in the game for each family member, Edith’s own story is a deliberate construction and there are things she’s choosing to focus on or leave out. We’ve got two very different worlds in the game, the Finch family house Edith is exploring and the more surreal, stylized world of the stories where each is meant to reflect the personality and emotional state of the family member that story is focused on. We’ve tried to make Edith feel vulnerable and familiar to give players a stable point of view on this pretty bizarre universe. Thematically, the notion of “family†seems very central to what the game is about. How personal is this story to you? Are you pulling on your own experiences in any way? Ian Dallas: My mother was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer mid-way through making The Unfinished Swan and she died during the first year of developing What Remains of Edith Finch, so that’s definitely part of why there’s a heavy focus on families in both of those games. I’ve always been interested in death and impermanence, and I think families are a good contrast with that — something we make that lives on after we’re gone. The stories in the game are all relatively short, contained experiences, so shifting the focus to the family also helps us look at how these events play out in a larger context and explore the themes we’re interested in. And what of the house itself? Is it a familiar place to you? Did you grow up somewhere like it? Ian Dallas: The Finch house and the stories within the game are based around Orcas Island in Washington state, which is a place my family visited a lot when I was growing up. And we’re definitely trying to capture the balance of a limited human presence surrounded by a large, untouched wilderness that you can still find on the island today. The Finch house is nothing like the house I grew up in, which is a good thing. The Finches aren’t very stable people and their house reflects that — it’s an enormous jumble of architectural styles and, like most houses in games or movies, wildly impractical. But I did spend my entire childhood, more or less, in the same house and I think that’s reflected in the way we approach the Finch house. It’s a place where you can feel the weight of many people making small adjustments to it over a long period, imprinting themselves and their concerns on the landscape around them. I hear you’re a big fan of the This American Life podcast, and that its approach to thematic, short-form storytelling has influenced your work. Can you expand? Ian Dallas: I love the intimacy of radio journalism. On a show like This American Life you can have a soundscape of people digging a subway tunnel a mile underground paired with an old Jamaican man talking about what that kind of work does to your joints, and as a listener I’m able to keep both of those things in my head at once. It’s a very artificial world, made up entirely of sounds, but it feels strangely real. I think in stripping away so many of the things that we’d normally be focused on, it’s easier to appreciate the unique character of what’s left – like the person’s voice. On The Unfinished Swan we used mostly non-professional voice actors because they sound more natural and I think it’s easier to connect with them emotionally. They’re not acting; they’re just being themselves. And we’ve done the same thing so far on What Remains of Edith Finch. It’s very hard to make anything in games feel intimate and human but non-professional voice-over actors have worked really well for us so far and I think that echoes some of the feel of a show like This American Life. While it’s not overt, there’s clearly a ‘horror’ element to the game. How hard is it to scare someone, and how do you measure success during development? Ian Dallas: Our intent has never been to scare anyone. I’d say it’s more about creating a sense of curiosity and unease. Which is not to say the game isn’t scary for many people. It comes down to how you as a person deal with the unknown. And this is a game that hopefully gives you a chance to explore that feeling. It’s a hard thing to measure in a playtest. It’s much easier to measure the opposite — what are the things that break the sense of mystery, or empathy, or immersion? And every time we do a playtest, we find lots of those problems and do our best to fix them. Personally, the thing I’m always looking for is a moment in the game when most people will be so overcome that they’ll subconsciously let out a “woah.†You don’t always hit that, obviously, but that’s the goal. It’s fair to say that Edith Finch and Unfinished Swan are not “typical†video games. There’s not much out there that’s like them. What’s your relationship with games? Do you play a lot? Ian Dallas: I play fewer games than I used to and I think that’s a combination of lack of time, the fact that most games feel quite familiar by now, and the sense that most games don’t have much to say to me. I think most games are either meant to be challenging or to be a pleasant time waster. And a lot of people are looking for that, but I’m not. For me personally, I love games that show me something I haven’t seen before and that effectively explore a character, environment, or feeling. The last game I got really into was Dark Souls, which was not a game I was expecting to enjoy. I think that game does a fantastic job of conveying a sense of struggle. I love how inscrutable the world is, how vast and unknowable it feels. For me, the thing that makes Dark Souls so compelling is how unified it feels, that all the various elements – the lighting, the economy, the lengthy attack animations – all contribute to this feeling of heaviness and struggle. Another theme appears to be the trivial, temporary nature of humanity versus the infinite vastness of nature. That sounds a pretty heavy topic for a piece of interactive entertainment! Can you promise us a happy ending? Ian Dallas: Eventually, everybody is going to die, right? The most we can hope for is an interesting life and a satisfying conclusion. And I think that’s what players can expect from Edith Finch and the rest of her family. It’s definitely going to be interesting. View the full article

Hello, I’m Mike Christatos; President of Golden Ruby Games. We’re a two-man development studio based in New York and we’re developing Extreme Exorcism on PS4. I’m also pleased to announce, for the first time ever, that we’re working on a PS3 version as well! Spawned from our love of hardcore arcade games from the days of gaming past, Extreme Exorcism is a paranormal platformer, where every move you make comes back to haunt you. Mae Barrons is an Extreme Exorcist with extreme methods. She’s called upon to rid a haunted house of its ghostly presence, when everything and everyone else has failed. Haunted by the spirits of lost lives and high scores, we took the classic arena shooter and added a twist. Instead of adding enemies that get harder over time, you’ll be forced to fight past versions of yourself, which spawn as ghosts at the beginning of each round. With this added threat, 50 challenges and a robust multiplayer mode, we expect Extreme Exorcism to be a scary good time for you and your friends. The ghost mechanic was created temporarily as placeholder enemy AI. Initially a quick fix, we realized that when players are forced to fight against themselves, they actually face more of a challenge. Giving everyone infinite ammo and a one hit one kill, it’s up to you to not only survive for as long as possible, but to try and remember every action you performed in the previous rounds. Being a small, two-person studio, time is precious. So with help from an artist, sound designer, and UI creator — and of course our publisher Ripstone — we were able to focus on the gameplay and classic arcade challenge we wanted to create. To further the gameplay of hunting ghost versions of yourself, we added challenge and multiplayer modes to amplify the chaos. In challenge mode, you’ll be tasked with completing 50 different challenges that really lean hard into the chaotic nature of Extreme Exorcism. And if you think it’s hard to memorize a multitude of ghost movements from yourself, try adding three of your friends in the mix and remembering what they did, too. If that’s too crazy, challenge your couchmates to a 4v4 game of deathmatch, where the last man standing is the winner. Tell us what you think in the comments and be sure to check in with us on Twitter for more info. View the full article

Hello everyone! It’s Mina again! Aksys Games is pleased to announce our next otome visual novel game, Norn9: Var Commons. It will be a PS Vita exclusive, for both retail and digital in North America. As a title from Idea Factory, the same company that brought you the acclaimed Hakuoki series, Norn9: Var Commons is definitely worth waiting for. Norn9: Var Commons will be available in the fall, but in the meantime, I’ll give you a little sneak peek. While on a school field trip, child prodigy Sorata Suzuhara wanders off after hearing a mysterious song and blacks out. When he comes to, he finds himself in unfamiliar place, and soon encounters a girl who informs him that he’s currently in turn of the century Japan. In order to help him get home, Sorata follows her to a ship that she’s waiting for but when it appears it is not a wooden sailing ship, but a round aircraft that flies using technology that is beyond Sorata’s imagination. Even stranger, he discovers that the other 12 passengers — 3 young women and 9 men — are all supposedly espers with special powers, and are on some kind of journey at the behest of a multinational entity only known as The World. What is the purpose of their journey? What is their destination? Who is The World? Before Sorata can even begin to take stock of his situation, the ship is attacked, and the mystery surrounding the ship only deepens. Delve into the story of the ship and its occupants through the point of views of each of the three girls, and unravel the mysteries trapped within. Experience the voyage! Board a mysterious aircraft and go on a journey with twelve young men and women with special powers. While travelling to an unknown destination, you will view beautifully detailed environments. The characters in Norn9: Var Commons come to life. No completely static images, here! Communicate with them as a part of their world and see how they react to specific situations. As the player, YOU advance the complex, diverging storyline and decide the fate of the characters. Ultimately, you will be making some of the hardest decisions. Depending on the choices you make, the story will dramatically change. If you explore all routes and complete them, the secret true ending will be revealed. Bonus Features — Re-live your favorite moments with Gallery Mode! Also, challenge the mini game, “Norn9 Quest,†and collect points to unlock bonus illustrations and other special features. Thanks for tuning in! Make sure to visit the Norn9: Var Commons website for more updates! See you next time! Note: The images used are taken from an early build of the game and may differ from those used in the final product. View the full article

Writing this post, the first thing that comes to mind is when myself and the other directors at LoG first came together and decided to set about making the best digital board game the world had ever seen. Seems crazy, now that I think about it. But we were always afflicted by a particularly blinding optimism. Even still, I would never have imagined that game would show so much promise and have such a following that four years later I’d be here telling the world that Armello would be coming to PS4. We never were that optimistic. However, today is that day. I can proudly announce that Armello will be coming to PS4 in September this year. Set in a vibrant magical world with a tinge of darkness, our game, Armello, is a multiplayer digital board game that thrusts players into a Game of Thrones-esque struggle for power. You’ll select one of eight unique Heroes from the animal clans of Armello, and compete for the crown while the mad lion king terrorizes the Kingdom from the seeming safety of his Royal Palace. Heroes start in their clan grounds and use action points to traverse the board. Each hex tile presents different consequences including mysterious encounters, exploring a dungeon, capturing a town for your clan or improving a Hero’s health. Players won’t just be battling each other as they move across the board on their quest for the crown though, horrifying Banes stalk the land and terrorize the local populace, and the King’s Guards aren’t unfamiliar with slaying a guard or two in the name of the ‘law’. Atop all this, you’ll have an arsenal of over 100 fully animated cards at your disposal. After our successful Kickstarter campaign and a solid stint on Early Access, Armello’s community has helped us hone the game into the unique, polished and deeply thoughtful experience it is today. However, we’ve also been secretly working away on a PlayStation version of Armello that uses every inch of the console, with brand new high end assets, redesigned UI, and controls specifically designed to ensure feels right at home on PS4. Oh, and the game already features an incredible soundtrack by Michael Allen and internationally acclaimed composer Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator, Baraka, Dead Can Dance). Inspired by the classic adventure films and tabletop games of the eighties and nineties, the stuff we were raised on, Armello really is tabletop adventure brought to life. If you like strategy, card, board or role-playing games, we can’t wait to put a PS4 controller in your hands and show you Armello on PS4, the first truly digital board game. See you in Armello! <3 LoG View the full article

It was great to see that our recent gameplay overview trailer was greeted with such a positive response. Now, we are ready to release a new video, the Savage Road trailer. We know that everyone was crying out for gameplay and we were happy to oblige. With your appetites now sated, it’s time to take a deeper look at the story and some of the characters. As you know, Mad Max is an open-world action adventure game set in the post-apocalyptic universe made famous by the films. However, while you may recognize certain elements, it is truly a standalone game with original characters, storyline and setting crafted from the ground up to rival the best games out there. So, what’s the story all about? Well, at the start of the game, as is so often the case for Max, he is simply trying to avoid contact with what passes for humanity in the Wasteland. He is searching for some sort of respite, whether it is in a real world place or somewhere in his head. We start our story as he gets tangled up in a fight with a group of warboys. These are the zealous foot soldiers of the Wasteland Warlord and ruler of Gastown, Scabrous Scrotus. Stripped of his prized Interceptor, he is left for the Wasteland to chew up. However, he receives help from an unlikely companion, a Wasteland Blackfinger named Chumbucket, who realises that Max has ‘otherworldly skills’ as a driver and survivor. Chum’ convinces Max that together they can craft a mighty machine, which he calls Max’s Magnum Opus (meaning ‘Great Masterpiece’). In the game, you will have much use of Chumbucket’s insider knowledge of the Wasteland and its inhabitants. As long as your paths are aligned, he will also be of great value in improving and weaponizing your Magnum Opus. He will even man the harpoon and repair your vehicle in battle when you need it. Both Max and Chum are acutely aware that the car will require a powerful V8 engine if it is to survive in battle. In the video you will see that Max ventures into the heart of Gastown in order to compete in a race to the death. The prize — the V8 he so desperately needs. First he will have to face his enmity with Scrotus’ most feared henchman, Stank Gum, a despicable character who revels in spreading Scrotus’ terror in the most grotesque ways possible. The closer Max is driven to breaking point, the more he struggles with his sanity. (There’s a hint of that in the video, too!) Enjoy Savage Road and we’ll be back soon with more content! We announced our new game, What Remains of Edith Finch, at Sony’s PlayStation Experience event last December but haven’t said much about it since. It’s come a long way in the last 6 months and we’re finally at a point where we’re ready to start talking about (and showing!) more of it. At E3 this year we’ll be demoing the beginning of the game and our first story. Today we’re releasing our first screenshots along with a new trailer. It’s hard to sum up the game in a screenshot because the game is a collection of short stories. Each of those stories is about the death of a different Finch family member and each is meant to look and feel different from the others, the way no two people in any family are alike. Which is why to start with we’re focusing a lot on the Finch family house where the game begins. As Edith, players will be exploring this house and eventually unlocking bedrooms for all the various family members. Inside each bedroom is something that tells a story about that person’s life (like a diary, or a collection of photos, etc). The Finch family house, by the way, is crazy. The family has been living here for the last hundred years and each generation adds on to it. By the time Edith arrives the house is an enormous artifact influenced by a range of eccentric, stubborn folks. Hopefully it’s also a place that comes across as believable and familiar. Our goal has been to make the house feel fantastical but at the same time like it was all made out of stuff you could buy at Home Depot. And that’s the game in a nutshell: a surreal experience that’s grounded in a familiar world. The deaths in each of the stories are a little bizarre but the really strange thing is death itself. The house is both a monument to the people who have died and a record of how the family reacted to those deaths. Where the short stories focus on individuals, the house is the story of the family as a whole, told through architecture. Hope you enjoy your first look inside the house! View the full article

It’s great to be back here on PlayStation.Blog to talk to you about Need for Speed — and in just a few weeks’ time at E3 you’ll get to witness the full unveiling, but until then we just want to touch base on a few things, so let’s clear the air. While we’ve been busy making the game we’ve also been reading, watching, and listening to you, our NFS Community. The feedback you’ve provided across every medium possible has urged us forward, and directed us towards our goals. To know that there’s such a passionate set of gamers out there is one of the best feelings you can have as a developer, so thank you for that. Every day someone proudly proclaims that we simply must have customization in the next Need for Speed game, so that’s exactly what you’ll have. When Need for Speed launches later this year you’ll be able to fully customize a car, in the process turning it into a truly unique resident of your garage. We’ve been working really closely with Speedhunters, our very own community who have helped us deliver a Need for Speed that is grounded in authentic car culture by diving into the world of past, present, and emergent trends of the urban car scene. Need for Speed will unleash a passion for cars and speed when it launches this fall! With more than 20 years of history in its rear view mirror, we’re bringing Need for Speed back with a reboot that delivers on what Need for Speed stands for — rich customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your Need for Speed experience. We can’t wait to see you at E3, where among other things you’ll also be able to see customization in action for the first time. You won’t want to miss it! View the full article

Whenever I interact with the PlayStation community I’m always struck by their passion and excitement for gaming. I saw this firsthand at E3 2014, when I teamed up with PlayStation and Fathom Events to bring the E3 Press Conference live to over 10,000 fans around the country as part of the PlayStation E3 Experience in movie theaters. It was amazing to see fans line up all across America to experience the news and announcements live with others in the community. This year I’m happy to announce that the PlayStation E3 Experience will return on Monday, June 15. Due to the quick sell-outs in 2014, we will be staging it in significantly more theaters — and yes, it will still be free. Last year tickets in most markets sold out in 15 minutes or less, so for 2015 we are increasing the number of theaters by more than 150%, with at least one theater in every state across the US — including Hawaii and Alaska — plus 3 cities in Canada. You and fellow members of the PlayStation community will get to see the full PlayStation E3 press conference in HD on the big screen, plus there are special bonuses for those who come out to the theater experience. I’ll be hosting an exclusive 30-minute in-theater post show with extended footage and interviews with developers, and everyone who attends will take home a PlayStation surprise, which will consist of PlayStation goods and digital codes we can’t disclose yet. (Last year attendees received early access to the Destiny Alpha and Battlefield: Hardline beta, along with a great poster and VIP laminate). To make it fair to everyone in the community, this year we are giving you advance notice of ticket sales. Free tickets will be made available on Wednesday, May 27 starting at 9:00 a.m. PT at playstation.com/e3experience. Eighty percent of theater capacity will be reserved for ticket holders, with 20% of the theater held for those on the wait list, who will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. We saw the big lines last year and want to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to be in the theater. The PlayStation.Blog guys also tell me that their big PlayStation LiveCast show will be back again in a big way, kicking off with the PlayStation Press Conference on June 15th, starting at 5:45 p.m. Pacific Time. They’ll have plenty of game demos, new trailers, and developer interviews over the next three days – and you’ll be able to watch on your PS4 or PS3 using the Live Events Viewer app, too. Stay tuned for more details. View the full article

Throughout the development of Batman: Arkham Knight, our goal has been to create the ultimate Batman experience and give players the chance to be the Batman like never before. Batman: Arkham Knight | PlayStation.com For us that has meant building out all of Gotham City, showing Batman at the peak of his powers, and putting him in control of a brand new, unstoppable Batmobile. But it’s not just about the power fantasy of being the savior and protector of Gotham: Batman will be tested like never before by a united force of super-villains that are hell-bent on taking him down. It’s the moments when we are all tested that we explore in our new live-action trailer: times of trial, and how we can rise above them. Selflessness, determination, and courage are all traits that we share with the Dark Knight, and so in many ways we can all be the Batman every day. For those who take up the cape and cowl on June 23rd, you’ll need all of these traits and more to truly be the Batman, and take on the greatest threat Gotham City has ever seen. Back in December at PlayStation Experience, our friend Gio Corsi let everyone know that, with the help of Sickhead Games, we would be bringing Octodad: Dadliest Catch to PS Vita. Today Young Horses is happy to announce that on May 26th for $14.99 you’ll be able to take Octodad on the go! With the launch of Octodad: Dadliest Catch on PS Vita, we’re also introducing a couple of new features we think both current and new players will enjoy. First of all, Octodad will be available as a cross-buy title, which means that if you’ve already purchased the game on PS4, you’ll automatically have access to play it on your PS Vita. Although we won’t have cross-save support, we have added a new set of Trophies to the PS Vita version of the game to give you even more opportunities to achieve the impossible with your normal human hands. Another cool feature is the ability to play co-op locally using one device. With Sickhead Games’ help, we managed to stuff in enough control for two players (one on each side) to wobble your favorite dad through everyday life while rubbing shoulders with a real life friend. We’re excited to share this cool new way of playing Octodad and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. <3, Young Horses View the full article

Hello everyone! In just one week we’ll finally have the chance to bring the world of Magicka to console for the first time and we’ve been prepping for it by wearing flame-retardant robes — it’s embarrassing when you accidentally set yourself on fire during fits of excitement. We’ve also created this list of the 11 things you should know about Magicka 2 ahead of its launch on May 26th. Vlad is Not a VampireFirst of all, don’t listen to the rumors about Vlad. Sure, he may look like a vampire. He may act like a vampire. But, he is not a vampire, honest! He is just… Vlad. More Magicka, More Madness, More Misanthropic MischiefMagicka 2 is a sequel where we picked up all the things that the fans loved about the first game and improved them. All the things that were good are now great! Casting and dodging at the same time makes for a much more fast-paced game. We’ve also added a new story, a game-changing artifact system for a big pile of replayability — and, new for 2015, working netcode! Friendly Fire is Always OnBeing a powerful and irresponsible wizard is a lot of fun, but it does come with the price of loneliness. The friends you do make tend not to last long, unless your aim is good and your healing magicks are potent. Spells do not discriminate between friend and foe, so watch that crossfire! How Do You Spell Success?Magicka is all about conjuring spells by combining eight different elements, using up to five at a time. These elements will then create a spell that you can cast for all kinds of constructive or destructive purposes! Not only that, but every combination can be cast in a direction, or as an area-of-effect, or into your melee weapon, or even upon yourself. Not only THAT, but certain elements combine to create unique effects; for example, you can combine water and fire to make scalding steam, or water and cold to generate shards of ice, or even life and shield to make landmines that heal people! There are thousands of possibilities, and at least most of them are good ideas. It’s a Kind of MagickMagicks are powerful spells that brings death and devastation for your foes and friends. Giving yourself some hasty feet, summoning a wave of flames, or reviving an “accidentally†exploded teammate; that sort of thing. Magicks can be cast from a hotbar with a cooldown system, or by using the right element combinations. The element combinations are harder to pull off, but more useful in the long run! However, not all magicks can be conjured with combos… Play with Your Friends Until They Aren’t Your FriendsCouch co-op, online co-op, or a mixture of both! Magicka 2 supports every sort of multiplayer, whether it’s two wizards on one couch playing with two more online, or four players in four places, or three players in one room connected to one guy with an online PS4 in his secret underground bunker. We also use the PS4 chat support to ensure you can yell at the wizard who just took off your head with a boulder, whether they’re sitting next to you or not. Challenge ModesIn Magicka 2, we have added “challenges†as a game mode. Challenges are either score or time-based game modes where wave after wave of angry creatures will hunt you and your friends to the ends of… well, of the level. Thankfully, the longer you last during a challenge, the more magicks you can unlock to help you survive! Check your ArtifactsArtifacts — the good kind, not the weird rendering kind — are components that you can turn on or off to change the experience of Magicka 2. They can do everything from messing around with the look of your game to fundamentally changing the way you play! Want your wizards to look really fat? Want the game to have a laugh track? Want to turn the Fire element up to 300% damage? Want to turn every explosion into an IMPLOSION? Artifacts can do it! You can select up to six different artifacts to mix and match your way into a completely new game mode. Unlock more artifacts and effects by playing the adventure mode and challenges at different difficulties. Items, Glorious ItemsCustomize your wizard with all sorts of different items to get a more varied gameplay experience. Change up your melee attacks with different weapons, or make your spells even more excessive and ridiculous with a selection of staves! Once you start mixing items and artifacts, too, that’s when things get really weird. Not every item can be unlocked the first time you find it, however, the items your friends are carrying might just fall on the ground if your friends were to, say, stop living for a few seconds. We’re just saying. No real reason to bring it up. What were we talking about, again? Cloud SavesPlay on your PS4 at home. Continue at your friend’s place. Get thrown out of your friend’s place because you didn’t ask if you could come over. Continue back at home. Easy access to your personal wizard anywhere, any time! New Technology and “Working Netcodeâ€Magicka 2 has an all-new game engine that keeps it going, and lets it really shine on the PS4! The fire is hotter, the death beams glow more, and most importantly, you can link up with your friends over PSN quickly and easily, letting you get to the mayhem much faster. Jump in with your friends, or make (and rapidly unmake) new friends with other PlayStation fans in a pick-up group! View the full article

In the last few weeks, we’ve watched the devastating effects of major earthquakes that have struck Nepal, affecting so many lives and destroying countless homes across the country. We know the road to recovery will be a long one, and our hearts are with the Nepalese communities affected by this unimaginable tragedy. During this time of need, we’re making it easy for PlayStation fans to donate to relief efforts through PlayStation Network. Simply go to PlayStation Store where you can make your donations in the following increments: $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100. For your generous contribution, you’ll receive a special theme inspired by Nepal for PS4 or PS3. Donate for the PS4 Theme Donate for the PS3 Theme 100 percent of your contributions will go directly to both the American Red Cross and Save the Children earthquake relief efforts in Nepal. This will help these important organizations provide much needed aid in Nepal, such as providing emergency supplies, deploying emergency personnel and supporting displaced families. We want to thank all of you for the times you’ve supported communities in need. Together we can once again make an impact by aiding the ongoing recovery efforts in Nepal. View the full article

Recently we announced PlayStation Heroes — a new program that lets you purchase exclusive themes for your PS4 system, support charities, and enter for a chance to play video games against celebrities. Last month Billy Webster won a trip to sunny LA where he battled against Snoop Dogg on FIFA 15. Stay tuned to find out who won! This month we are happy to announce the next PlayStation Heroes challenger — NBA MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors! When he’s on the court he’s one of the most exciting players in the NBA, but how will he stack up against the PlayStation Nation? One lucky winner will find out and go head to head against Curry in a game of NBA 2K15. Will it be you? So what are you waiting for? Time to suit up, get off the bench and find out how you could win the opportunity to ball against a splash brother, help the USO, and get the limited Basketball X’s and O’s theme, available now through June 9th. Visit here for more. 90% of the purchase price of each PlayStation Heroes Theme will go to the USO, a charity that supports America’s troops and their families. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Making a purchase will not increase your chance of winning. The purchases are not tax deductible. The promotion period is from May 19, 2015 1:00PM PST through June 9, 2015 1:00PM PST. Must be a legal resident of the U.S. and 18 years old to participate. A second purchase of the same theme is not allowed. Entrants who purchase a “Silverâ€, “Goldâ€, or “Platinum†theme cannot purchase the “Heroic Bundle†during the promotion period. Limit 30 entries for a chance to win. Void where prohibited. See the PARTICIPATE tab in the PlayStation Heroes App or playstation.com/Heroes-rules for Official Rules. View the full article
