The Hunting Grounds patch is here, bringing new content to our Secret Ponchos community. Our aim is that with each patch Secret Ponchos will improve and get stronger, as we work hard to implement new content and fixes based on community feedback. This patch has a lot of great new content, we hope you enjoy it as we focus on the next set of improvements. Plus, We also have a few new things we’re announcing today including a surprise for our community. Watch our trailer to see the update’s two new characters in action. For those who missed our first post, The Hunting Grounds update includes a lot of new content, including two free maps that everyone can enjoy. For those who want to support the dev team to further develop new content for Secret Ponchos, you can purchase two optional new DLC characters: Gordo and The Wolf. If you don’t purchase them, they’re still there to make your game more fun; you’ll still see a wider variety of outlaws for your teammates and opposition. The Remorse SkinWe are releasing an exclusive piece of content,â€The Remorse Skin†that can only be equipped by you, our first generation of PS4 players. Jump on the game and unlock it. It’s oly unlockable until April 1st, 2015, so get on it! Something we learned, is that a fighting game is more than the mechanics and art we create. The true soul of it is the competitive spirit that is derived from the the community. Our early community is building the game, and defining where it goes just as much as we are, and we are grateful for that. We know our first adopters had to support us patiently as we had our first growing pains, and as a token of appreciation, three Switchblade Monkeys artists put in some extra love to design and craft ‘The Remorse Skin’ as a gift for our community. This is an exclusive, free costume that will only be unlockable until April 1st. To unlock the Remorse Skin, Level up a character to “outlaw reputation†(5000 bounty) before April 1st, 2015, and the exclusive skin is yours. Secret Ponchos Character GuideWe strived to build a lot of depth into the characters of Secret Ponchos, making sure the variation in their mechanics matches their visual distinction. We’ve created a character guide for new players, which you can find below, to help you decide which outlaw is right for you. Remember: some characters are harder to learn than others, but once you grasp their playstyle, they become just as deadly. A note for brand new players — we’ve put a Practice Mode front and center in your in-game lobby, where you can access your Outlaw’s move list and practice abilities on stationary outlaws. We’ve also added a simple tutorial to introduce you to the basics of Secret Ponchos. So, gun up and unlock your Remorse skin! It will be an exclusive gift for you guys to prove that you were there first on PS4. Check out the new maps, learn the intricacies of Gordo and The Wolf, and study the character guides below. They’ll give you an idea how the Outlaws of Secret Ponchos work, and which one will best suit your personal gunslingin’ style. The patch is out today, so let us know what you think! Happy hunting, and see you on the battlefield. Gordo A vicious bandit has arrived to claim Lonetree, armed with a high-powered Gatling gun and Molotov flames. Gordo is a heavy gunner who can trap enemies behind walls of fire and cut them down from a distance, but his slow speed makes him vulnerable to fast attacks. Strengths High damage, fast fire rate, with long-range primary fire Can stun nearby enemies by slamming his Gatling into the ground Able to trap enemies and control the map with Molotov flames Good character for new players Weaknesses Slow movement Low Stamina Very slow reload Tips Speed up Gordo’s long reload times by taking cover. While escaping, pour Molotov flames behind you to prevent enemy pursuit. Throw Molotov flames behind cover objects to draw hidden enemies out. The Wolf There are legends of a new deadly predator, stalking the town of Lonetree. Disguised in the hide of a wolf, this mysterious orphan hunts with a bow and bone knife. The Wolf requires precise attacks, but as her prey accumulates arrows, they begin to take devastating damage from critical shots. Beware this versatile hunter’s Wolf Stance, where she moves on all fours with extreme agility, ready to pounce and take out enemies with her deadly bone knife. Strengths Precision attacks can lead to high-damage critical hits Able to shoot arrows from a long distance, with multiple arrows dealing compound damage Fast base movement, especially when taking “Wolf Stance†Weaknesses Low health Requires precision aiming Tips Perfect her “Crit hits†techniques. Crit shots deal high damage, and a good player who can land high percentages of Crits will be deadly. Switch to Wolf Stance for increases in speed to chase down prey or make an escape. You can perform “Predator’s Slash†at higher running speeds by striking (R1) while running, without using the aim. Maintain a distance by using “Tumble†(L1) with a charged bow. She can roll any direction while firing arrows, making her a hard target that’s able to counterattack while evading. Phantom Poncho Phantom Poncho is a mysterious bounty hunter who moves slowly and methodically yet is capable of sudden burst movement. He can glide in and out of range, confusing enemies about his position and distance. Like a tactical predator, Phantom Poncho wounds and stuns his enemy from a distance with his bullwhip and then moves in for the kill with his devastating short-range shotgun. Strengths Fast burst movement with the “L1″ dash (can be used while aiming to strafe) Can stun/wound enemies long range with his whip, making them an easy target High damage on his shotgun at close range Basic fire is a spread shot (does not require high accuracy) Weaknesses Slow base movement Slow fire rate Short range on primary shotgun blasts Tips Dash (L1) while aiming. This allows you quick burst movement to get in range, fire, and get out. Use the dash to strafe to the side quickly while firing. Use your bullwhip (R2) to strike from a distance, causing the enemy to fall to the ground stunned. Use the (CIRCLE) evade to clear large distances, perfect for an escape after a shotgun assault. Phantom Poncho has great mobility, but ONLY when he has stamina to dash. Make sure you take cover often to replenish stamina, so it’s full when you engage. Killer Killer is one of the most dangerous outlaws at a distance. Though he relies on extremely precise aiming for his six-shooter, he is capable of a hitting an opponent at long range with deadly force. But if he misses, his slower fire rate will make him a vulnerable target. Strengths Long-range shot that deals a lot of damage Well-rounded Knife throw is very effective at initiating an assault from off-screen Weaknesses Slow fire rate Primary fire on revolver requires a lot of accuracy Slower reload / stamina recovery Tips Keep opponents at the end of your range. Aim carefully with Killer: If you land the shot, your opponent will be pushed back. If you miss, your opponent can take advantage of your low fire rate and get in close for a counterattack. “Fanning the hammer†rapid-fire shots do 2x more damage up close than they do at maximum range. Use this move if your opponent either has a sliver of health left (and you just need anything to hit!) or if you are close up and want the extra damage. Killer’s knife throw is effective at very long distances. The camera will follow as it flies through the air as long as you keep holding “R2.†Use it to stun an enemy from extreme distances then move towards the edge of your gun range for the kill. Aim at far-off enemies using the help of off-screen indicators. Run over the knife to collect it after a throw, to avoid waiting for the cool down. Killer has a slower stamina recovery, so take cover to double the speed of stamina regeneration. The Matador The greatest challenge for The Matador is no longer the bull but the outlaw. She uses her speed, blinding ability with her cape, and evasive abilities to setup her lethal melee attacks. She can be a difficult character for beginners but is extremely dangerous to any of the outlaws once she’s been mastered. Her speed helps her close in to wound enemies; her blinding cape helps her set up her other attacks. Strengths Very fast movement speed High potential for massive melee damage Hit-and-run tactics Very fast and far-ranged evade Weaknesses Very limited at ranged attacks Throwing spears takes a lot of practice, and she only has two Low durability Many moves require stamina Tips Throwing Matador’s second spear into an opponent deals a Crit hit (increased damage). Aim your shots a little bit ahead of a moving enemy, as there is a travel time with her spear throw. Use Matador’s spears to “wound†enemies. For the duration of the “wound,†enemies move more slowly and will be easy targets for your team. When enemies have the “blind†callout over their heads, it means they cannot see you. Initiating an attack or changing weapons will bring you out of hiding. Deserter In addition to the Deserter’s very strong offense, his most defining trait is his survivability. He can withstand a high amount of damage and has the ability to heal himself or injured allies using his medikit. Though his base movement is slow, many of his attacks can stun/knockdown, putting his opponents in a vulnerable and helpless position as he prepares further assault. Often the one to initiate team battles, he can often survive due to his durability, escaping to bandage himself back to fight again. Strengths High survivability (adrenaline speed boost, medikit healing, and high hit points) Strong, high-powered offense at close range Multiple moves that can stun at both extremely close and extremely far distances Weaknesses Weak in mid-range distances Slow base movement Tips Use “Soldier’s Shoulder†(Circle button) to knockdown/stun enemies. This is the best way to engage an enemy at close range, stunning them to set up your next attack. This move can stun multiple enemies if they crowd you. Deserter’s Adrenaline Shot (R1 with medikit) gives you a speed boost and is an excellent way to escape battle and give yourself room to heal. Deserter can heal teammates during a battle if they are close enough. Kid Red Kid Red was a simple ranch hand, orphaned when his family fell prey to the violence of the Wild West. He is an expert with his short-range dual pistols which can be fired extremely quickly or at the same time to stun his opponents. His nimble movement makes him a hard target to hit, and he is known to unleash chaos in a battle by throwing deadly dynamite sticks. Strengths Fast base movement speed Fast fire rate Does not require much accuracy “Twin Blast Ability†causes a stun Dynamite is useful for zoning enemies and long-range attacks Weaknesses Pistols have short range Low health Tips Dodge into range and fire “Twin Blast†(secondary fire on pistols) to stun opponents. As they hit the ground, switch to regular fire and unload four to five bullets. Use your speed, and evade out before your opponent recovers. Kid Red’s pistols need to be close range, so if your enemy is keeping you at a distance, use dynamite, which is very effective from afar. Use dynamite for “zoning†(making players run away from a part of the map). Drop dynamite behind you while running, to discourage enemies from chasing you. View the full article

The Iron & Steel Pack, an exciting new pinball two-pack featuring a table based on our hit CastleStorm franchise as well as a Western-inspired table dubbed Wild West Rampage, is launching today for Zen Pinball 2, representing our first original Zen tables in three years! We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, the PlayStation community, for providing us helpful feedback and letting us know what you’d like to see in Zen Pinball 2 on PS3, Vita and PS4. Simply said, your feedback and encouragement persuaded us to get back to original table development! Each time we announce a new table, a flood of ideas come in from the community, so we took those ideas and ran with them. Now today, when the PlayStation Store updates, you will get to see those ideas come to life in the Iron & Steel pack. Our last original themed table was Epic Quest, so returning to original themes was really fantastic for our development team. We had a great time taking your favorite parts of CastleStorm, including the fire-breathing dragon, the sheep-launching ballista, and even some tower defense elements from the original game and crafting them into a fun, new table for Zen Pinball 2. Additionally, bringing some of our favorite Old West elements to life for the Wild West Rampage table was a dream come true! You can’t go wrong with train robberies, duels, gunslingers, a corrupt sheriff, and a determined, strong leading lady at the center of it all. To commemorate this release we are revealing a brand new trailer that showcases the great pinball action in both tables, CastleStorm and Wild West Rampage. Enjoy! As always, don’t forget to purchase this pack on either PS3 or PS Vita first, then import to PS4 and enjoy on all three platforms! Please let us know if you have any questions or requests for features or tables, we would love to hear what you’d like to see next! View the full article

Bonjour, mesdames et messieurs! David here for Idea Factory International. Why the French talk, you ask? Well, I’m just très excited because my favorite French-sounding Goddess, Noire, makes her debut as the main character in Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart today, exclusively on PS Vita! Let’s dive a little into the first strategy RPG in the Hyperdimension Neptunia world, shall we? In this game, you’ll see the world through the eyes of a guy roped into being the Secretary for Noire — the leader and CPU of the Lastation nation. As her Secretary, your main task is to strategize battles and help her accomplish various quests — but like any assistant/secretary, you’re probably gonna also have to end up doing some interior decorating. While working as the Secretary, you’ll meet a plethora of other characters. What’s a strategy RPG without a miniature army to select from? Each of the 26 unique characters has her own strengths and weaknesses, as well as character design that plays like an “I Spy†game of video game references. Strategize the perfect troop of characters to get through every battle grid, balancing out each of their skills and stats. Or just pick the ones whose over-the-top skills you like the most and hope for the best! Did I mention that these girls need to get along? Performing a skill with one or more allies nearby boosts up those characters’ Lily Rank. As their Rank increases throughout the game, their skills also become more effective with each quick kiss of encouragement. Bumping up Lily Ranks and Lily Points also allow you to unlock extra-powerful skills and the Goddess forms for the main characters! It’s just like that one song says, there’s love on this battlefield. Oh wait, those aren’t the lyrics? Anyway, you’ll really need all the help you can get to fight through maps laden with traps like moving platforms, live wires, and fiery pits of doom! Plus, there is a buttload of status effects you can experience, like becoming pixelated, which gives a boost to your movement range while significantly decreasing your defense, or becoming a zombie and mindlessly attacking your allies. Sometimes after a long day of strategizing on the battlefield and avoiding zombie bites from friends, you just want to kick back on the couch at home. And you can do exactly that with the Sim Noire mini-game, in which you can furnish and upgrade Noire’s place, transforming it from “Is this where a Goddess really lives?†to “Ah my Goddess, I dig these digs!†Not only do you get to make the place look good, but this furniture can really dispense some pearls of wisdom. Plus, by upgrading the place, you’ll get to unlock extra events that help you get to know Noire better! So are you ready to take on the role of the Secretary? It’s up to you to get your army of 26 characters through every isometric grid of battle, dropping enemies with Lily Boost-enhanced skills and avoiding the traps on the maps! And if you want to take a break from all the strategic battle action, you can upgrade Noire’s place, hearing the thoughts of every piece of furniture and unlocking extra scenes with Noire — because any Secretary worth their salt should get to know their boss as much as they can. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some strategizing to do. Salut! View the full article

Hey everyone! We are happy to announce two huge pieces of news for the upcoming Street Fighter V on PS4… the return of Nash, and the online beta program! Charlie Nash has been a fan favorite character in the Street Fighter series for years and finally makes his comeback in Street Fighter V, although noticeably a little… different. For those who are unfamiliar with him, continue on for a quick history lesson. First mentioned in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991) by Guile during his quest for revenge; Nash was a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and one of Guile’s best friends. Although it was hinted that M.Bison was involved in Charlie’s disappearance in the past, it was never really fully explained… …until the Street Fighter Alpha series, that is. In Street Fighter Alpha II (1996) we see firsthand that a helicopter controlled by M.Bison’s forces make quick work of Nash as M.Bison gets away. Initially presumed to be dead by both friends and foes alike, Nash’s return shows that his story is far from over. While the mysteries surrounding his return will become clear later on, for now we’re pleased to announce that the originator of the Sonic Boom is back with quite a few new tricks. The second piece of news is perhaps the most exciting of all. Also announced today, we will be performing the largest and most ambitious online beta program in franchise history with Street Fighter V on PS4 and PC! These tests will be essential to collect your feedback and to ensure that Street Fighter V is the best iteration yet. In North America, players who pre-order the game will automatically be enrolled into the beta program. More details, including timing on the beta program will be revealed in the future so stay tuned for updates. Until then, SONIC BOOM! View the full article

STARWHAL HAS ARRIVED. The couch competition that separates the strong of tusk from the faint of heart is finally available on PlayStation! Breakfall is ecstatic to finally be bringing our narwhal space combat simulator to console gamers. A sincere thank you to our friends, family and fans who helped us make this happen! Further special thanks to all the blogs, gaming sites and let’s plays that helped get Starwhal into the slippery hearts and salty minds of our community. Wailing, nautical shout outs go to all the event organizers who have helped us physically show up and bring Starwhal to the masses. We also need to mention Sony and their fantastic efforts to embrace indie developers. This support is what made today’s release a reality. Thanks for all your help! With Starwhal now available to a whole new audience, we wanted to bring up some keys points for the uninitiated: ÂYou don’t push the direction you want to go, you rotate your head, and apply thrust. The body will follow. This deliberately strange control scheme was designed to be unlike what most people are used to playing, because learning how to heave your bulky narwhal across the arena is a huge part of the fun. ÂOnly the tip of your tusk, which glows, is dangerous to your opponent’s heart! ÂTry some different modes, change the rules! Different groups will get a lot more out of different modes, and sometimes switching levels or adding a timer can totally change the way you play. ÂThere is a taunt button. Tasteful limits to use will vary from group to group. ÂTry adding AI opponents to fill out a match. The game is usually at its best when things are feeling a little chaotic. ÂYou can be a narwhal wrapped in a burrito. This is both powerful and unnerving. Ultimately, Starwhal is all about bringing friends together to laugh and cry, to trash talk and scream into pillows, to throw some elbows and invent exotic narratives for marine mammals in deep space. The core of all of that is getting people together to have fun! While grabbing yourself a copy of the game is an important first step, we would advise also trying to wrangle four players right away to maximize the madness. We’ve provided the game, but you’re our community, and we hope you get some friends together and have a silly good time flopping it out on the grid! Starwhal is out today for $11.99 USD, and getting it on PS3 or PS4 lets you play on either console! PlayStation Plus members also have a 20% discount this week only. View the full article

In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, players saw Celebrimbor’s memories of being dragged back to Mordor, forging the Rings of Power, stealing the One Ring itself, and raising an army to battle his greatest Nemesis, the Dark Lord Sauron. Now players will have the chance to play these epic events, wield this power for themselves and learn the fate of Celebrimbor, the greatest Elven king of the Second Age and the Bright Lord of Mordor — thousands of years before he became the Wraith that denied Talion death. When introducing The Bright Lord for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, the opportunity to tell such a significant story from the history of Middle-earth isn’t the sort of challenge we take lightly. With The Bright Lord, we didn’t hold back. Prepare for a new playable character in Celebrimbor (along with a Celebrimbor skin for all of your adventures), a new story campaign and missions culminating in an epic battle against the ultimate Nemesis, the Test of the Ring Challenge Mode, new powers for you to try out as you wield the One Ring, and Celebrimbor’s deadly bow skills. We’d love to tell you more, but frankly, we just can’t bring ourselves to ruin the surprise. There’s a lot of amazing stuff in The Bright Lord that we’re very proud of, and we can’t wait for you to wield the power of The One for yourselves. See you in Mordor! View the full article

Please note: Bloodborne is rated M for Mature with Rated Mature, Blood and Gore, Violence. Thus far, IGN First’s special Bloodborne coverage has treated us to the game’s first 18 minutes (in both raw and commentary-filled versions), new details on the game’s character creation system, plus new glimpses at the potent weapons, haunting environments, and terror-inducing enemies you can expect to encounter in the doomed town of Yharnam. A new trailer hinted at the game’s mysterious storyline, while a behind-the-scenes video revealed a recording of the soundtrack and all the talented musicians and singers who made it come to life. And of course, we got a rare behind-closed-doors look at From Software as the team behind Bloodborne detailed their inspirations. Today, with IGN First’s special Bloodborne coverage entering its final week, we get to learn more about the collaboration between Japan Studio and From Software that once, long ago, led to Demon’s Souls and now leads to the dark world of Bloodborne. Watch the new video above. And the week ends with… …Well… …Perhaps some things are better left to be discovered. Let’s just say that you won’t regret taking a look here at 9:00am Pacific Time. Bloodborne releases on March 24th exclusively on PS4. A special Collector’s Edition is also available and includes a Steelbook game case, premium Art Book with exclusive concept art, and Digital Soundtrack of the game. View the full article

Hey everyone – this is Tom Happ, the sole developer of Axiom Verge. About a month ago, I was given the opportunity to come to PS.Blog and describe the dedicated Speed Run mode feature of Axiom Verge. I was absolutely thrilled with everyone’s response. If you aren’t familiar with Axiom Verge, please check out my initial PS Blog post about the game. The tl;dr version is that you play as Trace, a scientist who wakes up after a lab accident in a hostile, alien world. You need to uncover the mystery of how that world came to the state it’s in and your role in it all. Similar to classic games like Super Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master and others, the gameplay incorporates a mix of exploration, hidden powerups, strange creatures to fight, and epic boss battles. Let’s talk powerups!Powerups are the lifeblood of an exploration-based game. New abilities give you access to areas you couldn’t reach before and open up entire new sections of the game. They also open up lots of room for puzzles that can keep players challenged and thinking the entire way. It’s risky to talk too much about powerups, though, since it’s definitely possible to spoil some of the surprises along the way. So for now, I’m just going to focus on the first few powerups that you’ll find to give you a feel for the game. The first one you’ll get is a new weapon called Nova. Unlike the first basic weapon you start out with, the Nova can be shot in 2 different ways. The basic way is just to shoot it like a normal weapon. It has a larger size, so you’re more likely to hit your target. But it’s slow. The second way is to detonate it while it’s in mid-air, making it split into 6 pieces. You can use this effectively to shoot at targets where you don’t have a direct line of sight. Second is the drill. When you first get the drill (after defeating the first boss), you’re in a room where there are rocks blocking your path. This is to show players how and when to use the drill. Later on, though, I made sure to teach players that it’s not only rocks that you can drill through. Some other materials can also be drilled through. The more diligently you explore the world, the more likely you will be to find health upgrades and new weapons. Later on, you’ll discover the address disruptor. I came up with this idea from the days of my youth playing with things like Game Genie or just finding glitches that weren’t originally intended to be in the game. I found it fascinating to uncover areas that I was never intended to see and corrupt different elements of the game to see how they would behave. I wanted to replicate this feeling of discovery by creating a sort of glitch ray that would corrupt the reality around you. Every enemy can be glitched, and they all respond in different ways. This opens up a lot of new puzzle ideas for people to explore by glitching every enemy to see what it does. Some of this has been seen before in some of the sneak previews I gave out to press the last few months, so I’ll give you a sneak peek at one powerup that I don’t think I’ve shown to anyone yet. Without any further explanation… I’m so tempted to talk about more of the powerups, but I really want everyone to discover them on their own! And now for the biggest news of all: the PS4 version of Axiom Verge is ready! It’s done! It’s through certification, has all of its age rating stuff done, has been localized into 6 languages (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese), and poked and prodded by multiple playtesters. Technically, you could play Axiom Verge today. As we speak, review codes are being prepped to be sent out to media outlets and journalists so they will have plenty of time to write up thorough reviews. I feel this is an extremely important part of the process. There’s a lot of content in Axiom Verge and I want to make sure reviewers have plenty of time to play through the entire game and savor the full experience. I’m personally really proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish as a solo dev, so my emotions run the gamut between excitement about letting the rest of the world check it out, and anxiety over letting my baby take its first steps in the wild. Although the PS4 version is ready, I’m still working on the Vita version as there are some tools that are still under development that I’m waiting on. However, when Sony asked me when I wanted to release Axiom Verge, I had a tough decision to make. Should I hold the PS4 version so I can launch it simultaneously with the Vita version? Or should I just launch the PS4 version now? After hearing from so many people who are eagerly looking forward to playing it, I decided just to launch the PS4 version first. But people who are mostly interested in the Vita version should not worry. It’s definitely coming, and it’s definitely going to be cross-buy, so if you buy it on PS4, it will be ready for download on your Vita as soon as it launches there. So with that caveat out of the way, I am a little freaked out to announce that Axiom Verge will be available for download on PS4 on March 31 for $19.99! It’s been the greatest experience of my professional life creating this game. I really hope you enjoy it even half us much as I enjoyed making it. Thank you for your support. View the full article

Hi, we’re Owen Goss and Matt Rix, and together we are Milkbag Games, the two-person team making FutureGrind. We are extremely excited to announce that FutureGrind will be coming to PS4! FutureGrind is a game all about skill, tricks, and speed. We think it’s a bit like Uniracers meets OlliOlli. The game is played on a track made of rails that run through a 3D environment: some rails are blue, some are red, and some are white. As the player, you control a futuristic, motorcycle-sized vehicle called a “grinderâ€. Your grinder has two wheels: one blue, and one red. You have to get from the start of the track to the end in one piece, while scoring the most points possible. Be careful: do NOT let the wrong wheel touch. Your blue wheel can touch blue rails, your red wheel can touch red rails, but touch the wrong rail and you’ll cause a short circuit. Watch out, short circuiting leads to, well, a bit of a mess. Survival is important in FutureGrind, but it’s really just the baseline. In order to succeed, you’ll need to get good at doing chains of tricks. Points are awarded to you based on how you grind on the rails. Balance on top of a rail for a Manual. Boost up into the bottom of a rail for an Undergrind. Dangle from the top of a rail for a Hanger, and so on. Rack up long grinds to increase your score. Do flips in the air for big points. Transfer between rails flawlessly to build your chain multiplier. Only skilled players will earn endorsements from The Sponsors and progress through the game. Did I mention that the talented musician bignic is writing a complete, original soundtrack for FutureGrind?! Because he is, and it’s amazing. One of the songs is in the teaser video above, but if you want to hear more, head over to his Bandcamp page and check out the 4-track EP of FutureGrind music he just put up. It’s good stuff. We’re really excited to bring this game to PlayStation! We’ve made great progress on the game so far, but there’s still a lot of work to do. We’ve got a bunch of different environments planned, all with multiple tracks in them, as well as new grinders and all the bits and pieces that tie everything together into a finished game. Keep your eyes on PlayStation.Blog and the official FutureGrind site for more news about the game. We hope that you’ve enjoyed what we’ve shown today! View the full article

Since its debut in MLB 12 The Show, the Diamond Dynasty mode has offered franchise fans a twist on how they can usually interact with their favorite MLB players in a baseball game. Baseball cards are so intrinsically at the heart of the sport and its amazing history and tradition, so it always made sense to incorporate that way of appreciating baseball into The Show. It’s a nice complement to Franchise and Road to the Show modes, since the strategy of building your team (and that thrill of a rare player card!) is a wholly different experience from in-game action. With MLB 15 The Show, Diamond Dynasty is seeing radical changes. So many in fact that this year we’re calling it Diamond Dynasty Distilled. Why “Distilled?†A common definition calls the process the extracting “the essential meaning or most important aspects of,†which is precisely what we’ve aimed to do. It’s more intuitive, it’s easier to get into, and we hope you’ll find it more satisfying than ever. Check out this new video blog we’ve made, narrated by designer Lance Leahy, detailing some of the biggest changes: MLB 15 The Show | PlayStation.com Lastly, we know some of you haven’t tuned in for our livestreams yet (we’re trying to host them weekly on our Twitch channel), so you may think the question of online in this year’s game has gone unanswered. We take pride in listening to the community intently, and we know online play is a priority for a lot of Show gamers. Simply put: a lot of work has gone into improving online play in MLB 15 The Show. The overall experience will be more stable, more consistent, and feel better. As we stated last year when we revealed that we were tearing down and rebuilding the foundation of our netcode, it’s a process. We’re a full year into a major paradigm shift in terms of how we handle synchronization, how we’re hiding latency for the player, etc. We’re going to talk a lot more about what’s gone into it and what fans can expect, but for now we’d just like to assure you that online remains a focus and pillar for us, it’ll be better this year, and it’ll continue to get better. Hard to touch on everything in one blog post! Follow us on Twitter (@MLBTheShow) and stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks as we approach MLB 15 The Show’s launch on March 31st for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. If you’re looking to snag ’15 on PS4, check out the Anniversary Edition commemorating 10 years of MLB The Show; not only does it come with a lot of in-game value, but we’ve gotten a lot of great feedback on that stylish steelbook! Today as part of IGN First we revealed our brand new story trailer for Bloodborne, the PS4-exclusive Action RPG from developers FromSoftware and SCE Japan Studio. This trailer introduces some of the characters you’ll meet along the way as you venture into the depths of the cursed city of Yharnam, and hints at some of the dark secrets waiting to be uncovered by brave hunters. When we revealed the first 18 minutes of the game a few weeks ago, I introduced how the game starts with the player arriving in Yharnam and receiving a blood transfusion from a strange doctor, which ends up clouding his memory. Is this all a dream? A nightmare? Where did all of the beasts come from? And what secrets does this Yharnam blood hold? Check out the trailer for just a small taste of the mysteries and horrors waiting for you in Bloodborne. I’m extremely excited that Bloodborne is just about complete, and I cannot wait to unleash it on the world and see how players react. The story campaign is a dark adventure that will deliver epic challenges and epic rewards from the very start. Plus, with our multiplayer and new Chalice Dungeon features, we are looking to deliver even more new ways for fans to connect, play, discover, and conquer new challenges than ever before. If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy yet, there’s still plenty of time before the March 24th launch, whether you want the standard edition, Collector’s Edition, or the digital download version (pre-load available prior to launch). Keep an eye on PlayStation.Blog for more Bloodborne news. And we have a few more things lined up for IGN to finish off February’s IGN First coverage. View the full article

It’s been a long time since we’ve brought you any news on Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, but I’m excited to announce that this unique JRPG will be available as a digital download on PS Vita via PlayStation Store for $19.99 starting on March 3rd! So what does Oreshika bring to fans of the genre? Well, first of all there’s the striking graphic style. Set in ancient Japan, the game art delivers a rich world inspired by traditional brush paintings of the Heian era. You’ll be exploring a beautiful, watercolor world filled with weird and wonderful creatures based on Japanese mythology. Oh, and we’ve kept the fantastic Japanese voiceover which fits in with the atmosphere perfectly. The gameplay is quite unique, too. In Oreshika, you’ll take control of a clan whose bloodlines have been struck with two terrible curses — a Curse of Ephemerality, and a Curse of Broken Lineage. The Curse of Ephemerality means that your clan members age rapidly with a maximum lifespan of around 2 years. As you explore labyrinths, defeat demons, and find treasures, the clock of in-game time is always ticking so it’s important to plan your moves strategically. In Oreshika, no matter how skilled you are in battle or how strong your equipment is, your characters will face death and so it’s your job to make sure your clan’s family tree grows new members to step up to the ranks. But therein lies the catch as the Curse of Broken Lineage means that your clan members can no longer procreate… Luckily you can turn to the gods for help. By performing the Rite of Divine Union with a god, a new clan member will be created. It’s important to choose carefully which gods you perform the Rite with as the genetic makeup will be a combination of the ‘parent’ clan member and the chosen god which affects stats as well as appearance. And with well over 100 gods to meet in game, there are a lot of deities to discover! And while we’re on the topic of gods, I should mention that for a period of two weeks from launch, you’ll receive the gods Kiri no Mashū and Tonkararin as a special bonus when you purchase the game! So make sure you don’t miss out on this chance to bag these two rare gods that can’t otherwise be unlocked through gameplay. View the full article

The Order: 1886 | PlayStation.com PlayStation Nation! The wait is nearly over! Soon, The Order: 1886 will finally launch around the world, officially adding a new cast of characters to the PlayStation family. Ready at Dawn not only has created a marvelous new world for us to play in, but a new breed of hero. The knights of The Order are extraordinary warriors, but it’s important to remember they are still human. They tire, they feel pain, but they still stand up and persevere. We hope this trailer captures a little bit of that and sets the stage for your next amazing PlayStation adventure. Thank you so much for your support! View the full article

As you know, Killing Floor 2 is heading to PS4 later this year. It’s a brutal, fast-paced, co-op FPS that puts players into deadly battles with genetically engineered bioweapons using a host of wicked killing tools. Following our announcement at PlayStation Experience, we wanted to show a wider view of the game’s universe in the form of a short movie, which you can watch above. We thought it would be a cool project and a great opportunity to tell more story in the run-up to the launch of Killing Floor 2 this year on PS4. For those not familiar with the Killing Floor back-story, the original game began in the UK with players being thrust into the midst of an outbreak caused by genetically engineered creatures escaping from Horzine facilities. By the time of Killing Floor 2, the UK has been overrun and very few have escaped alive. After a brief respite, more outbreaks have launched in mainland Europe — such as “Burning Paris†– and the whole mass slaughter has kicked into a higher gear. When we started working on the script for what would become Killing Floor: Uncovered, we decided to set the scene a few years before the start of the first Killing Floor game. Besides being a fun little horror film unto itself, Killing Floor: Uncovered sports a number of tie-ins to Killing Floor 2, both obvious and subtle. For example, the lab you see in the video is a fore-runner of the much more high-tech Biotics Lab that will be seen in the game. After the events you’ll see in Uncovered clearly Horzine needed to move its facilities elsewhere. The events in Uncovered are just a small outbreak (just a few victims, none of them very innocent), contained after the event by Horzine’s internal security services and duly cleaned up. The corpses removed, survivors paid off, and other evidence duly expunged. It would be nice to think that Horzine had learned the lesson from the security footage and stopped making evil creatures. All they did was move the lab elsewhere and make it much harder to break in. Which was unfortunate, as they clearly hadn’t thought to prevent the Zeds breaking OUT and rampaging all over the UK, which is what triggered the events of Killing Floor 1. A massive outbreak of specimens which the players in the first game were attempting to contain — unsuccessfully, as it turned out — with the country largely devastated. And it didn’t help that they set up multiple facilities, improving on them each time. In the new version in Killing Floor 2 you’ll be able to see much more of how the Zeds are made. “Grown,†in fact. They are, after all, “genetic specimens,†not zombies, created out of a plan for genetically-engineered and cloned super-soldiers. Except everyone just calls them “Zeds.†The new Biotics Lab will show you how the base Zed (the Clot) is grown, fed, and processed, fun details of their anatomy and experimentation. The more dangerous specimens, with the more esoteric abilities such as wall-climbing and stealth tech are created and weaponized elsewhere. Luckily for humanity, even though the cloning may have gone off in a bad direction, at least that weaponizing had only got as far as bladed weapons, chainsaws, and flamethrowers. At least players won’t have to face Zeds with guns. Actually you will, but not until Boss waves… But it all starts with the technology lurking in Uncovered. Simple cloning of simple specimens, even though they are violent and aggressive enough to rip humans apart. So, look for familiar content in Uncovered that you will see run through the existing Killing Floor, through to Killing Floor 2. The early Clot specimens obviously. And look for some of your favorite firearms: the classic British infantry weapon in the hands of the Horzine security troopers, for example, that will feature in Killing Floor 2. And that starting weapon you played with in Wave 1 of Killing Floor 1, that returns in the sequel — check the first weapon picked up in Uncovered. So, in the movie fans will learn a bit more about Horzine Biotech and some of their earlier experimentation. Fans will also meet the representatives of a small activist group, seeking evidence of corporate evil by infiltrating a secret Horzine lab. How does the saying go? “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.†Oh, how very true in this case! Special thanks to the Type A/B guys for helping shoot the film, and to the talents of actor/stuntman Jackamo Harvey as our star creature. Jackamo is no stranger to portraying Zeds in the Killing Floor universe as he was our mo-cap actor for all the creatures in Killing Floor 2. Take a look at our first Dev Diary for the game (The Zeds) and you’ll see what we mean! We hope that you enjoy Killing Floor: Uncovered as much as we do, and that it gives you a sense of the type of crazed action we’re aiming to deliver with the full launch of Killing Floor 2 on PS4 this year! By popular request, Starwhal is flopping onto your couch this month! Starwhal has enthralled crowds at events like Indiecade, E3 and EVO, but now, for the first time ever, it’s hitting a major game console. Both PS4 and PS3 will see local coÂ-op mayhem when Starwhal makes its console debut on February 24th in North America. Originally a 48Âhour game jam game, Starwhal took the world by storm in early 2013. The core of the game is competitive matches which see narwhals dueling in a retro vision of deep space. Poke or be poked as you wiggle your way towards, around and onto opponents. Dodge foes’ treacherous tusks while safeguarding your heart and attacking theirs. The silliness can get serious, but once the screaming subsides, hysterical laughter is a common side effect. Starwhal has received intergalactic praise from both fans and critics. But to take it up a notch, Breakfall has been hard at work expanding the game with a fully Âloaded feature set. Crazy new modes, intense new arenas, sweet new visual effects, a massive, extended, thumping soundtrack and over 9,000 costume combinations have all been thrown into the mix as you duke it out with four friends or AI enemies. And if you’re looking to hone your Starwhal skills on your own, you can try out our 32 challenge courses that let you earn Trophies while you dominate global leaderboards. Physics and performance have been optimized to give you the best possible console experience, so you’ll feel every blubbery impact as though a majestic marine mammal is in the room with you. Spectacular effects during slow motion collisions will have you asking if you’re looking at amazing graphics, or if your mind has just opened to a new level of consciousness. The game has always played best with a controller in hand, and Sony knows how to build a great controller. But now, with DualShock 4, you’ll never lose track of your ‘whal as the controller lights up to match the colour of your daring space beast! Your trigger fingers become one with the slippery hide of the colourful Starwhal for maximum immersion! The game runs at smooth 30 FPS on PS3, but sings songs of joy and wonder at 60 FPS on PS4 (rendering a full one thousand and eighty lines of resolution for splendid high definition). If you want the definitive, most responsive, hyperÂ-accurate simulation of spikeyÂheaded whales battling against the stars, the PS4 experience lets you play Starwhal like never before. Starwhal will be priced at $11.99 USD, and will feature cross Âbuy so you can enjoy it your way on PS4 or PS3. See you in the stars! View the full article

Hello World Warriors! We are excited to announce the details of 2015 Capcom Pro Tour circuit. Our inaugural season last year was a great success, with record breaking numbers all over the globe that helped push the fighting game community to new heights. Capcom and Twitch both learned a ton of things throughout the season, and with PlayStation now on board to lend their support, we are all committed to making this season bigger, better, and more epic than before. Thanks goes out to the passionate fans who provided feedback on the tour and we’ve gone to great lengths to help integrate those comments into the tour structure this year in order to create something that everyone can get hyped for. First things first: the game of the tour will be Ultra Street Fighter IV for this season. Now down to the details! We had 3 main goals coming into this season: Give fans more Street Fighter content to enjoy and look forward to. More evenly distribute the tournaments and point totals across the different world regions. Increase tournament prize pools across the board, and incentivize more players to get involved with the tour. To that end, we are implementing several important changes to the way the tour operates this year: Instead of 16 spots for Capcom Cup, we are doubling the numbers of players to 32 spots. In order to accomplish this, we are increasing the number of Premier events to 16, and are taking the top 15 players from the point leaderboards. The final spot will automatically go to the previous season’s Capcom Cup Champion (in this case, EG Momochi). The standard rule set for CPT events will be: 2/3 games until Top 8, and 3/5 games after that. This allows for more matches between top players on finals day, which are what everyone wants to see! So in the example of a two day tournament, the entire Saturday would be 2/3 and players would qualify for Top 8, then Sunday would be 3/5 all the way through for Top 8. We will be revealing the format for Capcom Cup and other event details at a later date, so keep an eye out for that! We divided the world into four major “regions†in order to equalize the point distribution and provide a fair environment for every player to be able to qualify for the Capcom Cup. The four regions are: North America, Europe, Asia, and Wild Card. Here is the full list of Premier events for the 2015 season: North America Final Round – Atlanta, GA, USA NorCal Regionals – Sacramento, CA, USA SoCal Regionals – Orange, CA, USA Community Effort Orlando – Orlando, FL, USA Europe Hypespotting 4 – Scotland, UK Stunfest – Rennes, France Milan Games Week – Milan, Italy Dreamhack Winter – Jönköping, Sweden Asia South East Asia Major – Bangkok, Thailand Mad Catz Tokyo Game Show – Tokyo, Japan Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals – Singapore TBD Japan Tournament Wild Card Evolution – Las Vegas, NV, USA Canada Cup – Canada Brazil Game Show – Sao Paulo, Brazil KO Fighting Game Festival – Kuwait You can see we put Evolution and Canada Cup as a Wild Card events. Given the large amount of international competition at these tournaments, we felt that they could be considered multinational events instead of just North American events. Here is the same breakdown of Premier events, this time in chronological order: DateEvent NameTypeRegionCountryMar20 – 22Final RoundPremierNAUSAApr03 – 05NorCal RegionalsPremierNAUSAApr04 – 05Hypespotting 4PremierEUScotlandMay01 – 03Socal RegionalsPremierNAUSAMay22 – 24StunfestPremierEUFranceJun19 – 21South East Asia MajorPremierASIAThailandJun26 – 28CEOPremierNAUSAJul17 – 19EvolutionPremierWILDUSASep17 – 20Mad Catz Tokyo Game ShowPremierASIAJapanSep24 – 26KO Fighting Game FestivalPremierWILDKuwaitOctTBDCanada CupPremierWILDCanadaOct08 – 12Brazil Game ShowPremierWILDBrazilOct23 – 25Milan Games WeekPremierEUItalyNov13 – 15Capcom Pro Tour Asia FinalsPremierASIASingaporeNov26 – 29Dreamhack WinterPremierEUSwedenTBDTBDJapan Premier EventPremierASIAJapanInformation regarding online tournaments will be shared at a later date. With help from PlayStation, the total prize pool for the 2015 season has been increased to a whopping half a million dollars. That’s $500,000 up for grabs throughout the year. The prize pool distribution is as follows: Premier Tournaments (excluding EVO and Japan-based events) Prize Pool Bonus: Total $15,000 split between top 8 1st Place: $7,000 2nd Place: $3,000 3rd Place: $1,500 4th Place: $1,000 5th ~ 6th Place: $750 (each) 7th ~ 8th Place: $500 (each) Evolution Prize Pool Bonus: Total $50,000 split between top 8 1st Place: $20,000 2nd Place: $10,000 3rd Place: $7,000 4th Place: $5,000 5th ~ 6th Place: $2,500 (each) 7th ~ 8th Place: $1,500 (each) Capcom Cup Prize Pool: Total $250,000 split between top 8 1st Place: $120,000 (yes, you read that correctly) 2nd Place: $60,000 (not bad for 2nd place we would say) 3rd Place: $25,000 4th Place: $15,000 5th ~ 6th Place: $10,000 (each) 7th ~ 8th Place: $5,000 (each) Phew! That’s a lot of updates, but hopefully all you out there are as hyped for this year as we are. As always, the Capcom Fighters Twitch.tv channel will be the home destination for all the Premier tournament action this year, so be sure to follow the stream to receive updates on when it goes live. In addition, we have renewed our official website, CapcomProTour.com, with all the above information, plus information on the various Ranking tournaments that will be going on weekly around the world. The official website will be going through some renovations this year with more consistent content updates and special features for Pro Tour fans to enjoy, so make sure to bookmark it and check back frequently for new updates. Good luck to all our competitors this year and be sure to read up, practice up, and get ready to grab part of that $500k! It’s going to be a wild one. View the full article

February is the month where some of the most prestigious award shows take place. The Grammy Awards were a few weekends ago and the Academy Awards are this Sunday. We’re getting in on the fun with two sales — the Critics’ Choice Sale, discounting some of the biggest games from 2014 that received awards and recognition from the gaming media; and the Oscars Sale, discounting Academy Award-winning films from years past. We’ve got another sweet bonus for you this week — get a $15 credit when you spend more than $100 using your SEN Wallet on PS Store today through February 24th at 11:59 PM Pacific. You’ll receive a redemption code for your $15 credit on or before March 2nd via email, XMB message on PS3, or system notification on PS4/PS Vita. The redemption code must be redeemed by 11:59 PM Pacific on March 31. Starting later today, following the PS Store publish, you’ll be able to snag a ton of award-winning games like Destiny, Dragon Age: Inquisition, FIFA 15, Danganronpa, and more at up to 70 percent off through Monday, February 23rd. I’m coming up on an anniversary. Very soon I will clock my third full year of involvement with Powers. I’m not certain of the exact date, but that anniversary is going to hit almost exactly on the March 10th Powers premiere date. Let’s hear it for synchronicity. Here’s another bit of synchronicity. Long before I became involved with Powers, years before I met Brian Michael Bendis or Michael Avon Oeming (I like that both those guys buck the single name branding trend by going with their full spread three-stack names. I tried it, but my full name makes me sound like a reject from the Monty Python Upper Class Twit of the Year Award sketch), long before I had any involvement in TV as a business, lo those many years ago, I was given an opportunity to write some comic books. Like any healthy geek introvert, I’d been a fan of comics as a kid and a teen, but as the years passed and I developed any number of unhealthy bad habits that distracted me from such things, my visits to the local shop diminished and, finally, disappeared. Which did nothing to diminish my immense excitement at the prospect of writing a superhero comic book for Marvel comics. The rub being that I had no idea about what was going on in comics, let alone any idea of how to write a comic. So I started doing research. How do you research comic books? You read a bunch of comic books, man. And I did. And I found that in the decades I’d been away from them, comics had come a loooong way. I read a load of really good stuff. Chief among that were several titles by this guy Brian Michael Bendis. And chief among those titles was a book called Powers. So, to learn how to write comics, I studied Brian Michael Bendis and, more specifically, I studied Powers. I’m still studying Powers, but with a far different perspective. My days just now are spent in editing bays studying the footage from the Powers TV show that I am somehow, utterly improbably, helping to create. Above you will get a chance to see a little behind the scenes featurette that teases all our efforts. And shortly after that, you get to start watching the show. I’m cutting the tenth and final episode right now, watching, over and over, the culmination of years’ worth of planning and writing and rewriting and starts and stops and more rewriting and disasters and miracles and…and…and… And really, this is just the beginning. On March 10th, PlayStation Store will have the first three episodes of Powers with a new episode coming out each week. The entire season is free if you have PlayStation Plus. And that will be a hell of an anniversary for me. View the full article
