  1. Greetings from Chicago and the Jackbox Games studios, where the harsh hand of Father Winter has begun its annual spanking motion toward our pale, gamers’ buttocks. It’s this time of year that we like to gather our friends and family near, enjoy some hot toddies after we look up what hot toddies are again, and fire up some party games on the old PS3 or pretty-new PS4. This year, in time for the holidays, we at Jackbox Games have attempted to take matters into our own hands and create the ultimate collection of party games. A variety pack of games — all funny, all unique — that you can start up on any occasion and select the game that most suits your fancy at that moment. And most importantly, games where a bunch of people can play without the need for a bunch of controllers. So today we announce the release of 200 celebratory white doves, and also the launch of The Jackbox Party Pack, a 5-game bundle of new games, including the brand new You Don’t Know Jack 2015. We think the price is ridiculously cheap (cheaper than the last You Don’t Know Jack release on PS3 was all by itself). And here’s the thing: no extra controllers are needed to play. Once a game is fired up, everyone uses their phone, tablet, or any internet-connected device as their controller. The games in the pack have different player limits, but most can accommodate up to 8 players and one can handle — get this — 100 players. It’s five party games in one pack, so to speak, although it really isn’t a “pack” so much as it is a digital download. And it’s out today. We think it’s the must-have party game for this holiday season, and the best way to save an otherwise boring holiday gathering. Fans of YDKJ will enjoy the 50 episodes of YDKJ 2015. All your favorites are here, host Cookie Masterson, the humorous fake commercials, questions like the DisOrDat and Cookie’s Fortune Cookie Fortunes with Cookie “Fortune Cookie” Masterson. And some surprises like the brand new “Kangaroo, Peanut, Albert Einstein, or Uranus?” recurring question. You may also recognize another game in the pack, Fibbage XL, which comes on the heels of our recent release of Fibbage: The Hilarious Bluffing Party Game on PS3 and PS4. If you’re a fan of Fibbage (and everyone who plays it seems to be), you probably have already written us clamoring for more questions. Well, Fibbage XL has it. It contains all the content in the original Fibbage, plus over 50% more all-new questions. So, if you own Fibbage already, you can get 50+% more questions along with 4 other full games in Party Pack. If you don’t own Fibbage, well, this is your chance. We want to save some surprises, so we won’t go into detail about the other three games in the pack: Drawful, Word Spud, and Lie Swatter. You can kinda guess what those might be by their names, sure, especially Drawful, which we’re really excited about and involves… no, you know what, find out for yourselves. Get the Party Pack. The value is incredible, we think. In fact, we may be pricing ourselves out of jobs. If so, consider it our holiday gift to you, cheapskates. View the full article
  2. From the treacherous peaks of the Himalayas to the surreal temples of Shangri-La, every moment spent in Far Cry 4‘s Kyrat is a story, and now you can experience it for yourself on PS4 and PS3. You play as Ajay Ghale, returning to your place of birth to scatter your mother’s ashes. Poor Ajay has no idea what he’s walking into. The country of Kyrat is under the rule of Pagan Min, a charming psychopath who has made himself the King. Now stuck in the middle of a civil war, every choice you make will determine the future of Kyrat and its people. But you don’t have to go it alone. Guns for Hire (Far Cry 4′s co-op mode) allows you to join up with a friend to explore Kyrat. Take to the sky in the gyrocopter to rain destruction from above, or charge through the world together on the backs of elephants. You can even punch a tiger in the face, if that’s what you’re into. If you’re feeling competitive, hop into the multiplayer. Play one round as the Golden Path rebels and the next round as the mysterious and mystical Rakshasa. As a Golden Path soldier you’ll have the full force of modern weaponry at your disposal. Lay waste to your opponents with machine guns and heavy artillery. The Rakshasa are a bit less grounded in reality. As a Rakshasa warrior you can summon wild animals to come to your aid and make use of the swarm and blink arrows to gain the upper hand. Should you get overwhelmed, you can simply vanish into thin air and give the Golden Path the slip. Players who pick up Far Cry 4 on PS4 or PS3 will get 10 exclusive Keys to Kyrat. Send a key to your friend on PlayStation Network and enjoy a free, two-hour co-op trial in the game’s wide open world. So even if your buddy doesn’t have a copy of the game, they can still hop in and help you liberate some outposts or go big-game hunting in the valleys of Kyrat. Create your own one-of-a-kind adventures in the living world. You’ll never run out of things to do and see in Far Cry 4. View the full article
  3. Hi there! My name is Dugan — founder of Tikipod Ltd, a super small video game developer based in the UK. I’m very excited to introduce our crazy, action-packed, cat-based, underwater shoot ‘em up, Aqua Kitty — Milk Mine Defender DX (Aqua Kitty DX for short)! Originally an award-winning PSM launch title, we have been working super hard to overhaul and enhance the game for a brand new launch on PS4 and PS Vita at the end of November. Never heard of Aqua Kitty before? Well, let me explain the unusual story a little. Due to a sudden shortage of milk, cats around the world are forced to seek out new sources to get their fix. You and your team of milk mining kittens have overcome a fear of water to drill down under the ocean seabed and begin extracting vast reserves of what seems to be naturally forming, full-fat milk. You have to blast your way through hordes of mechanical sea monsters in your powerful kitty submarine and defend the deep sea milk mining kittens! The core to your survival is managing the submarines secondary turbo-fire. It has limited energy but recharges itself between uses and gets upgraded as you progress through the game. There are various pickups to collect to help you out, dropped by special speedy gold and silver fish which you must chase down. The type of pickup dropped depends on the sea depth they are at, so keep an eye on the color of the indicator eye of those particular fish when shot. We have added a ton of “mew” additions to the game, and I will list just a few key ones here: Extra directional fire options are really helpful, as they allow you to shoot down any aerial robo jellyfish attempting to abduct mining kittens. Large mechanical Bosses guard the end of each area, and must be dispatched of course to progress onward. Perhaps you feel the normal game mode is too hard for you? No problem, there is now an optional easy mode campaign. Arcade mode adds a fantastic, all-new twist to the core gameplay. Imagine it like a blend of arcade classics Gradius and Defender. You collect special gems which can be used to purchase your power-up upgrades. Developing on PlayStation has been a great experience, and we have added all sorts of visual upgrades like glows, extra particles, distortion effects, and large multi-layered parallax skies. The PS4 version renders at full HD 1080p and has optional two-player local cooperative support. Aqua Kitty DX is coming to PlayStation Store at the end of November with cross buy, giving you both versions for 1 price! If you have any questions, please ask in the comments section below. THE MILK MUST FLOW! View the full article
  4. Our friends over at Crackle recently recorded the latest in their “Playing it Forward†series in Las Vegas and captured the superb “Imagine Dragonsâ€Â performing in front of the Bellagio hotel. The show was originally created in association with the actor Robert Downey Jr. and features surprise street performances by some of the world’s biggest artists in unplanned, unexpected environments across the country benefiting music education and charities of the artists’ choice. This short film takes a behind the scenes revealing look at the artists lives, their performances and their personal relationship with music and features three tracks from the band including their hit “Radioactiveâ€. The best news of all? PlayStation owners can watch this exclusively before anyone else starting today – so well worth checking it out! View the full article

  6. Since the announcement of PlayStation 4 in 2013, one of the key pillars of the system has been its unique social features. Of course, social interaction was built into the very foundation of the system, with features including DualShock 4′s Share button to easily share gameplay images and videos on social networks, the ability to live broadcast to Twitch or Ustream, and more recently Share Play (check out our walkthrough in case you’re not up to speed). We’re always looking for ways to expand PS4’s social features, which is why I’m so excited about our partnership with Ubisoft on Far Cry 4. As I discussed during our E3 2014 press conference, Far Cry 4 on PlayStation has an exclusive mode called Keys to Kyrat. Anyone who buys Far Cry 4 on PS4 or PS3 will receive 10 keys to send to your PSN friends, letting them join you in Kyrat for a free two-hour trial period, even if they don’t own a copy of the game. As an added bonus, your friends will get a currency boost for playing the trial if they end up purchasing the full game! You might be thinking, “This sounds a lot like Share Play. How is it different?†Well, we thought you might ask that: Keys to Kyrat Share Play Download vs Stream Each key allows one of your PSN friends to download Far Cry 4 and play a trial of online co-op without needing to purchase the game. Stream a game to a friend’s PS4 so they can watch you play, take over your controller, or play as the second player in games that feature local multiplayer* even when they don’t own a copy of it. Time Limit They can play a free two-hour trial of online co-op in Far Cry 4. Spectate or play most PS4 games for up to one hour at a time. *Far Cry 4 does not support local multiplayer. The initial concept for the Keys to Kyrat was born out of a brainstorming session between our team and the Far Cry 4 development team. We wanted to give fans a way to introduce their friends to the world of Far Cry 4 even if they didn’t own a copy of the game. Our talented friends over at Ubisoft ran with this idea and worked tirelessly to develop this feature, so we hope you enjoy it. Far Cry 4 comes out tomorrow — who will you share your keys with? 7. Yes, a PS4 for you and a friend — just show us how you celebrate your victories! Keep reading for the details. This season is in full swing and we know we’re going to see lots of incredible multiplayer experiences. Whether you’re playing with or against your friends, we’re sure they’re going to be epic and memorable. We know exactly how exciting that narrow victory feels… and we want to help you celebrate in style. We worked with some of the world’s greatest dancers at the New York City Ballet to create a selection of new videos. Send them to your friends to remind them of that lead you stole, the last goal you made, the grenade that ended the match or the dunk you landed on their face. Don’t let them forget it. See the rest of the videos at GreatnessAwaits.com. While you’re at it, share your victory dance on Instagram with the hashtag #PS4dancecontest. Each week, we’ll choose several winners to get a free PS4 for them and a friend. Click here for the full rules. Let’s see what you’ve got! View the full article
  8. Why do we like being scared? What scares us? Why do the things that frighten us also enthrall us? Grave, a new surreal horror game from Broken Window Studio, will terrify your psyche as much as it will make you jump out of your seat. Grave is a procedural open-world survival horror game, which features a fusion between modern horror and classic survival horror gameplay elements. What does this mean? It means that Grave will feature a modern psychological horror story, while keeping the classic survival horror gameplay found in games such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill when it comes to PS4 in 2015. Killed in a home invasion, you are cast into an alternate reality where the world morphs and changes around you. Strange creatures lurk in the night and threaten your safety. The only chance to escape is to pursue your killer — the man who sent you to The Wasteland. Light is the only tool for survival, your only protection from the unknown dangers that await. Explore a dynamic, procedural desert inspired by the early wild west landscape of America as you explore Grave’s unusual narrative. Fusing reality with unreality, locations fluctuate in and out of existence while you play, and nightfall brings strange, threatening creatures that stalk you until dawn. Play Grave how you want to, setting up defensive fortifications to survive the night or arming yourself with offensive weapons to keep creatures at bay. With procedurally populated enemies, items and even worlds, Grave weaves an unpredictable tale that will keep you in its grasp. Grave features surreal gameplay that challenges your perceptions with dynamically changing worlds, unnatural imagery and fantastical creations. It’s a unique day-night gameplay experience — “fear the night, hope for the day!†The team at Broken Window Studios is really excited to showcase the progress that we have made on Grave. Development began shortly after our successful Kickstarter in April 2014 and has been an ongoing and rewarding experience. We feel the game’s direction and unique approach to survival horror are taking shape, and we are pleased that we can bring Grave to PS4 players. View the full article

  13. Klaus is a narrative driven, 2D puzzle-platformer that provides a non linear, self-aware experience while striving towards a fluid gameplay that allows the player to control two characters as well as the environment. Together, Klaus will be an immersive gameplay experience on PS4 and PS Vita in the second quarter of 2015. Klaus wakes up in a mechanical prison with complete amnesia: he doesn’t remember who he is or how he got there. His only clue is the word KLAUS tattooed on his arm. This mystery will develop through the narrative, as Klaus meets other characters (both friendly and hostile) and discovers clues littered throughout the environment. Through exploration, the player will piece together his past and the realities of the enigmatic world he finds himself stuck in. Along the way, Klaus will meet K1, a friendly brute damaged by prolonged imprisonment. With Klaus’ hacking ability, and K1′s propensity to smash, our two protagonists will have to work together to reach the end of their existential journey. The cooperation won’t end there; the two characters will have to work together to overcome obstacles. We plan to also have a co-op mode through local multiplayer, which will add another dimension to the already tight gameplay. Klaus will feature an interactive environment. The player will be able to move and rotate objects such as jump pads, platforms, spikes, and others by using the unique touch features of both the PS4 and PS Vita. The touch mechanic will represent a major gameplay element that will allow the player to traverse the environment in more ways than one. Another key aspect of the gameplay is when Klaus becomes aware of the player, and breaks the fourth wall by doing the opposite of the actions of the player, putting most faith in his own free will. Klaus is being showcased at PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas this December, where a playable demo exclusively will be made available on both the PS4 and PS Vita. We look forward to all your feedback and opinions once you play this exclusive demo, and to seeing you guys there and sharing Klaus with you. View the full article
  14. Dragon Age: Inquisition is a huge game with vast lands to explore and many things to do. In fact, on my personal completionist playthrough, I logged 20 hours of game time discovering the world of Thedas before even completing the first major quest in the game! Yes, Inquisition is indeed massive. It is also a game about choice, where the decisions you make will shape the world. As the Inquisitor, you lead the most influential force in all of Thedas. People will place their hope in you and turn to you to do what’s best to stop the threat that is destroying the world. Of course, perhaps the most important decision you’ll make is determining what type of Inquisitor you will create. Will you be male or female? Will you be human, elf, dwarf, or Qunari? Which class will you play as? Once you’ve created your Inquisitor and are ready to begin the adventure, you’re going to encounter some nasty enemies. As a matter of fact, you’ll be facing off against your first demon in the opening moments of the game. This is another opportunity to showcase how choice shapes your experience with the game. Inquisition offers two different modes of combat: real-time and tactical. If you’re the type of player who likes to get up close and personal with your enemies, real-time combat allows you to run in with swords a-blazin’ (literally, if you’re using the Flames of the Inquisition weapons pack!). If you prefer to go the more strategic route and survey the battlefield before engaging, tactical mode is sure to be of interest. In this mode, you can pause the game and use the Tactical Camera view to scout your enemies and issue commands to your party. You can stop and start time at your leisure, so if one strategy didn’t work, you can regroup and try something else. The Inquisition is nearly upon us. Lead them or fall. View the full article
  15. The Devolver Digital team is packing our best suits, most expensive hair gel, and the best PlayStation games ever in preparation for this year’s inaugural PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas! We can’t wait to share all the amazing games our beloved developers have been working on and hang out with the PlayStation community. Below is a look at the hotness we’ll be bringing to the party and the odds in Vegas of the game being awesome. Unannounced (But Soon to Be Announced) Game Let’s start things off with a little mystery, shall we? Devolver Digital and a wonderful new indie developer will be unveiling their studio and debut game at PlayStation Experience this year. While we can’t tell you much about it yet, we can say that it will be coming to PS4 and have the absolute cutest shotgun shells you’ve ever seen. Las Vegas Odds on It Being Awesome: 2 to 1 The Talos Principle The Talos Principle is a philosophical first-person puzzle game from Croteam, the creators of the legendary Serious Sam games, written by Tom Jubert (FTL, The Swapper) and Jonas Kyratzes (The Sea Will Claim Everything). As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? And what are you going to do about it? The Talos Principle will be playable on PS4 all weekend and will arrive via PlayStation Store in early 2015. Las Vegas Odds on It Being Awesome: 1 to 1 Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number The follow up to everyone’s favorite top-down kill ‘em up, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is set to release in early 2015 with more intense action and face melting music than your PS4 or PS Vita can be expected to handle. Come on by the Devolver Digital booth to try your hand at the latest demo and prepare yourself for the pain of repeated failure. And grab the original Hotline Miami on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita to see what all the fuss is about. Las Vegas Odds on It Being Awesome: 2.5 to 1 Broforce BROOOOOOOFOOOOOOORCE! Come Bro-down at the Devolver Digital booth with the most explosioniest game at PlayStation Experience. Brace your loins with up to four players to run ‘n’ gun as dozens of different bros and eliminate the opposing terrorist forces that threaten our way of life. Unleash scores of unique weapons and set off incredible chain reactions of fire, napalm, and limbs in the name of freedom. Broforce will be playable on PS4 all weekend so bring your bros and prep for the game’s launch on PS4 in 2015! Las Vegas Odds on It Being Awesome: BRO to 1 Shadow Warrior Shadow Warrior is a bold reimagining of the classic 3D Realms’ shooter from independent developer Flying Wild Hog, starring the legendary and quick-witted warrior Lo Wang. Combine the brute force of overwhelming firepower with the elegant precision of a katana to annihilate the merciless armies of the shadow realm in an exhilarating and visually stunning transformation of the classic first-person shooter. Shadow Warrior is available now on PS4. Las Vegas Odds on It Being Awesome: 1.5 to 1 Not a Hero Those lovable scamps at Roll7 — the developer behind OlliOlli — are finishing up work on their not really politically charged, cover-based shooter Not A Hero for PS4 and PS Vita. But you can get your dirty little hands on it first at PlayStation Experience and then go back home and brag to your friends. But seriously, you’ll be choosing between a few totally unique heroes to help clean up the city in an absurdly violent way all so an anthropomorphic rabbit from the future can win an election to become mayor. There are ninjas, and helicopters, and birds with explosives strapped to their back. Las Vegas Odds on It Being Awesome: ALL BETS ARE OFF Titan Souls Between our world and the world beyond lie the Titan Souls, the spiritual source and sum of all living things. Now scattered amongst the ruins and guarded by the idle titans charged with their care, a solitary hero armed with but a single arrow is once again assembling shards of the Titan Soul in a quest for truth and power. But all that fancy marketing language won’t matter when you have some colossal monster bringing hell down on you as you frantically aim your single, solitary arrow at its one weak spot. Titan Souls will be drinking your tears on PS4 during the whole event and, if you can stomach the fight, will be out on PS4 and PS Vita early next year. 17. Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- for PS4 feels like high school. And that, surprisingly, is high praise. I obsessed over Guilty Gear X when it launched on PS2. My friends and I picked apart every fighter on the roster, experimented with particular match-ups, rocked out to the soundtrack for hours, and even developed inside jokes based on the fighter intro quips. And with Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, the team at ARC System Works is plugging a high-voltage generator into the series and flipping the switch with a smirk. The latest Guilty Gear, which hits PS4 and PS3 on December 16th, embraces everything about the series’ roots while reworking every visual component on screen. Even after spending time with an early build of the PS4 version, Xrd -Sign- is a flood of great memories. If you’re new to the series, Guilty Gear is a highly stylized 2D fighter with one of the most eccentric rosters to ever grace a fighting game. Do you want a charming vampire boxer? How about a pirate girl with dolphins for weapons? Or perhaps a tall, repenting surgeon with a bag over his head and a giant scalpel in hand? Yes, series favorites like Slayer, May and Faust return in Xrd -Sign- — many sporting a new look. ARC System Works has fused 2D and 3D art styles together, allowing for a jaw-dropping switch between each perspective at key moments. Intros and outros use stunning 3D models, but when the duel begins the models appear as high-resolution, 2D sprites. It’s a marriage of two drastically different visual styles, and it looks excellent. And fortunately for fighting enthusiasts, it plays well, too. Xrd -Sign- is as fast and frantic as you would expect from ARC System Works, with heart-pounding battles that litter the screen with effects, fire blasts, and the occasional bullet shell. True to Guilty Gear’s legacy, each fighter has a punch, kick, slash, and heavy slash, as well as a bevy of special moves that can close gaps, push/pull opponents, and generally control the spaces around the fighters. Even with my antiquated knowledge of Guilty Gear, Sol’s and Ky’s movesets came rushing back to me without a hitch — the fighters even have a few new tricks up their tightly-buckled sleeves. If you want to familiarize yourself with the basics, Xrd -Sign- comes packed with dozens of tutorials and training options to help you get a feel for the basics, and also push your knowledge of each fighter further. Besides its basic versus modes, Xrd -Sign- features an arcade mode, story mode, and loads of other challenges and unlockables (Including a gallery!). ARC System Works is filling out Xrd -Sign- with lots to do outside of traditional fights. Even without the full roster unlocked, I spent a long while just getting reacquainted with the fighting systems that Guilty Gear has used for so many years, from Faultless Defense to Roman Cancels. These systems encourage players to stay aggressive and flow between offense and defense with almost staggering quickness. Xrd -Sign- is aimed squarely at those long-time fans that have followed Guilty Gear for years. It’s a fiery, rock ‘n’ roll reboot for the series, and a screaming reminder that Sol Badguy is still a total badass. View the full article

  19. We’re thrilled to announce that, in just a few short days, Escape Dead Island will make landfall on PS3! Escape Dead Island is a single-player, survival-mystery game set in the blockbuster Dead Island universe. Escape turns the world upside-down, exposing an underbelly of mysteries and secrecy around the undead virus. What caused the Banoi outbreak? How is the world reacting? Who really has the most to lose… or win… as it spreads? These questions have been burning in both the Dead Island community and in the mind of Escape’s protagonist Cliff Calo. Now it’s time for some answers. Cliff, a slacking journalism student out to prove himself to his executive father, sets sail with a few friends to cut through a naval quarantine and find out what really happened on Banoi. If they can get the truth out to the world, they’ll be heroes. But nothing in Escape Dead Island is quite what it seems, and Cliff’s team ends up on an island with far more to hide than they expected. While exploring and dealing with the island’s threats, you’ll be photographing evidence and gathering clues to unravel what’s been going on in this increasingly strange place. As the pieces begin coming together, the world starts shifting under Cliff’s feet. Even time itself may work differently here. What is real on this island? It’ll be up to you, the player, to ultimately decide. But regardless of which truths you choose to believe, Escape will offer up tantalizing glimpses of Dead Island’s origins and foreshadow the future of Dead Island 2. You can pre-order at GameStop today to get guaranteed access to the Dead Island 2 beta next year. You can start uncovering the truth in Escape Dead Island on November 18th! We can’t wait to hear what you discover. View the full article
  20. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is a return to an exciting series that some of us at Lucid Games last worked on nearly half a decade ago whilst at Bizarre Creations. This new installment takes the core twin-stick shooter fundamentals developed in Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and its sequel, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, and boldly takes them further with the addition of 50 new challenges in a single-player campaign, three-dimensional arenas, new game modes, boss battles, intense power-ups and much more, providing you loads of variety as you battle to top your friends in the leaderboards. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is not only about beating your friend’s scores; you can also play together in 8 player competitive online and 4 player local co-operative multiplayer with friends and rivals. It’s also the first time PlayStation console owners can dive into this franchise with over ten years of arcade-fueled history and enthusiasm behind it. If this is your introduction to the series, then let me sum it up like this – Geometry Wars is electrifying. Screen-melting visuals, fast-paced, bright, and boisterous gameplay, astronomical high scores, bass-thumping, heart-pumping music, and a vibrant energy that can transcend you to pure Zen-like state as you feel totally absorbed into the game. This latest entry in the franchise may look different from its predecessors, but those defining characteristics are still infused into every moment of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions. We’ve designed two special stages for Dimensions that will be available on PlayStation. The first – “Symbolic†– is exclusive to PlayStation and features enemies that spawn in clusters shaped like the face buttons of the DualShock controller. “Symbolic†will be playable for any PlayStation user who buys the game at any time. But if you pre-order the game before release, you can also pick up our second challenge, “Secret Eye,†which features a distinctive triangle-shaped grid and an evolving inner core that forces you to make split second decisions to camp in one of the three corners and confront the enemies, or to skillfully navigate past to escape the onslaught. We know from personal experience as PlayStation players that the PS community is one that just gets the twin-stick shooter genre – it gives us a lot to live up to, and we’re excited to finally have something of our own to share with all of you. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions makes its PlayStation debut on November 25th for both PS4 and PS3, and you can pre-order on PSN here. Questions? Comments? Pontifications? We’ll be keeping an eye on the space below with some answers wherever we can provide them. And you’ll definitely be hearing more from us within the next few weeks. Thanks! View the full article
  21. Are you headed to Las Vegas for the PlayStation Experience Event in December? Telltale will be there too! First up, there’s a special Telltale Games panel where we’ll be discussing the past, present, and future of Telltale and adventure games. Here’s the great thing about this panel though: since our games are all about making choices and then living with the consequences, YOU’LL get to choose the questions. Take this opportunity to grill our brave little band of panelists about the Telltale-y stuff you’ve always wanted to know! It’s not all talk though – we’ll have games for you to play too. Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will BOTH be playable on the show floor. You’ll find them in Sony’s booth, so be sure to check them out amongst all the other awesomeness! Speaking of our upcoming releases, don’t miss the shiny new Tales from the Borderlands trailer we just released this morning! I think this is easily the most amusing video we’ve ever had the fun of producing. Seriously, get this into your eyeballs and… uh, earholes (yeah, that sentence got away from me a bit). Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series has things going on this week as well. Saying too much right now might spoil the fun, but if you’re fairly well-traveled on gaming sites, keep an eye out for a few clues scattered around the internet… Thanks for reading, and as ever, let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Hope to see you in Vegas! View the full article
  22. We recently launched the official Naughty Dog Shop and highlighted two of the cooler items we’ve developed so far. The next product design we’re really proud to show off is the The Last of Us Clicker Bust from PlayStation Collectibles. She’s a beauty, right? Hand sculpted by Emmy Award nominated Hollywood VFX artist, Vincent Van Dyke, there was a lot of care that went into the design of this collectible. It’s limited to only 1,500 units. The bust is available for pre-sale now on the shop for $150. We currently ship to North America and Canada and are working on other regions. More products and product highlights will be shown on the Naughty Dog blog and around our various social channels over the next few weeks. Look for new merch and special discounts online soon. If you find something you love share it with use by using #NDShop. Visit the official Naughty Dog Shop often for the latest. Reminder: the holidays are approaching fast! View the full article
  23. So, we’re indie developers. By and large, indie folk don’t really do “story†the same way larger developers do… it’s usually more minimalistic, and for lack of a better word, “artsyâ€. Which is cool! There’s space in the gaming sphere for everything, even whatever Suda 51’s up to these days. Still, we don’t think “indie†and “complex narrative with well-developed characters and realistic dialogue†are mutually exclusive. The voice command gameplay of There Came an Echo and its script were developed in conjunction with one another — the story is an integral part of the experience, not something tacked on after the fact. The four members of your squadron aren’t mindless military drones, but real people with imperfections, desires, and fears. And snark. They’re pretty snarky. And voice acting. If you’ve got voice acting, it better be good, or it’s going to completely ruin the experience. Luckily, we’re located in Hollywood, and we happen to know some people who are very good at saying things we tell them to say into a microphone. Corrin and Val, our two leads, are played by Wil Wheaton (yes, that Wil Wheaton) and Ashly Burch. Alongside them are some of gaming’s finest working voice actors: Laura Bailey, Yuri Lowenthal, Cassandra Lee Morris, Rachel Robinson, and Cindy Robinson. It might be the best voice cast in indie games, period… but we’ll let you decide. There’s a trailer up there; you’ve probably watched it. (Seriously, though, watch it.) Corrin Webb is a cryptographer at a defense company in Santa Monica, California, when the mysterious Val alerts him to some very scary-looking men heading up to his office. In a scene that we admit is totally the opening of The Matrix (except you’re acting as Morpheus, giving voice commands to Corrin and leading him safely from the building), Corrin escapes and begins a very reluctant mission to figure out who’s after him, and why. He eventually meets up with the recalcitrant Miranda, and wildly bloodthirsty Grace, and a man named Syll, whose past is very clearly wrapped up in the proceedings. The plot heads to some very hard science fiction and insane plot swerves, so we hope you like twisty! You can skip a lot of the cutscenes, but we have no idea why you would. You’ve got comments, we’ve got mildly sarcastic responses. Let us know what you think! View the full article
  24. Hello PlayStation Nation! The Bone Wagon is headed to Las Vegas! We’ve got a shiny new build of Grim Fandango Remastered and we’re bringing it to PlayStation Experience! This is your last chance to get your hands on Manny before the game is released, so please come to the Double Fine booth and check it out. I’ll be there too, loitering around, signing stuff, talking about the old days, and giving out free hugs. REMASTERED hugs. Also, we’ll be showing the game running for the very first time on PS Vita! It’s a great way to play the game, and a beautiful little handful of bones. I’m not sure what that last phrase means, but it sounds poetic so I’m going to leave it in. And hopefully there will be even more surprises once you get there! So come see Manny Calavera in the flesh! (In the bones? Well, you know what I mean.) See you there, and… ¡Viva la Revolución! 25. It is the year 1999. It is the future. After years of intergalactic battles, technology gave birth to advanced, galaxy-capturing capsules — tools that Earth’s World Leaders readily supplied to their intergalactic forces. But many of these forces have gone rogue and are now fighting amongst themselves for these powerful orbs. Greetings, Playstation.Blog readers! We are excited to announce our newest game, Capsule Force, a retro anime-inspired, multiplayer, arcade experience for PS4! klobit’s core team is comprised of two main members from Austin, Texas — a sound designer/composer, and a tall man who designs, codes, and creates art. We were fortunate enough to have a talented artist help with character art and design. As fans of retro Japanese games and anime, we really wanted to share our love of the days of cassette tapes and CRT televisions by pulling inspiration from both 80′s space anime aesthetics and the fast-paced nature of arcade games. From energy beams, levitating characters, environment design, and music, we wanted to capture that 80′s, retro feeling and adapt that essence in a way that could translate within a 16-bit arcade era (but with touches that were also unique to our vision!). Thus, Capsule Force was born! Join the blue team and pink team to battle it out across 8 different arenas. The gameplay is simple enough — destroy your opponent, ride the tram to advance to the final screen, and grab that capsule! But watch out! The path to your enemy’s base is riddled with traps. Whether you battle 1v1 or join the chaos of a 2v2 match, there is bound to be plenty of yelling like school kids. Dare to impress? Show off your skills or hone in on battle tactics with single-player mission mode. There are more than 30 missions to choose from! Blast through targets, dodge a variety of traps, and race against the clock to unlock levels and features. Our team at klobit is incredibly excited to publish our first console game and to be able to join the PlayStation family. Thank you for all of your support, and keep an eye out for Capsule Force in early 2015. Come join us and battle it out on December 6th and 7th at PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas! THE GALAXY IS IN YOUR HANDS! View the full article
