According to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, games are given priority over all else when distributing the RAM, which results in little to no room for features such as voice chat. Also, the feature cannot be changed, so don’t expect to see an update in the future that’ll introduce it. “Once a game gets RAM we never give it back,†Yoshida told Eurogamer, “It’s not possible to retrofit something like that after the fact.†“The game has to use its own memory to do in-game voice chat. There’s always voice chat in the game. But it’s a part of a game feature. It’s not a part of an OS feature. That’s the reason in terms of the ability to have voice chat across different games.†Almost 2 years ago we sent live a rumor that made it all over gaming’s web, where PlayStation: The Official Magazine said PS3 cross-game-chat would be a feature exclusive to PS Plus members. This will must be disappointing news for many.

As previously revealed, all pre-orders will receive the limited edition of Battlefield 3 and, thus, the “Back to Karkand” map pack DLC, though each retailer will also have some different additional bonuses. GameStop is offering the (timed exclusive) “Physical Warfare” DLC and PowerUp Rewards members will also snag a copy of the Prima strategy guide. Best Buy pre-orders will receive the “SPECACT Kit,” a package of eight multiplayer skins. Finally, Amazon pre-orders include a pack of exclusive multiplayer dog tags.
