  3. The family of a budding computer programmer have on Saturday launched a campaign to raise awareness about the health risks of playing online computer games after their son died following a marathon session on his Xbox. A post-mortem revealed that 20-year-old Chris Staniforth -- who was offered a place to study Game Design at Leicester University -- was killed by a pulmonary embolism, which can occur if someone sits in the same position for several hours. Deep vein thrombosis normally affects passengers on long-haul flights, but medical experts fear youngsters who spend hours glued to their consoles might also be at risk and have urged them to take regular breaks. Professor Brian Colvin -- an expert on blood-related conditions -- said it was "unhealthy" for youngsters to spend long periods in front of their consoles. "There's anxiety about obesity and children not doing anything other than looking at computer screens," he told The Sun. David Staniforth has now launched a campaign to warn other parents of the dangers. "Games are fun and once you've started playing it's hard to stop. "Kids all over the country are playing these games for long periods - they don't realise it could kill them," he told The Sun. A coroner's court in Sheffield was told how the youngster -- who had no underlying medical conditions -- was complaining of a low heart rate before collapsing outside a Jobcentre. Staniforth's distraught father said his son would spend up to 12 hours playing on his Xbox. "He got sucked in playing Halo online against people from all over the world." Online computer games are extremely popular as thousands interact in shared science fiction worlds. Reports of gamers collapsing after spending 15 hours in front of video games are fairly common throughout Asia. In 2005, a South Korean gamer died after playing online games for three days without taking a break. Microsoft -- which manufactures the Xbox -- said it "recommend gamers take breaks to exercise as well as make time for other pursuits."
  4. <p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://www.needforspeed.com/therun">Need for Speed: The Run</a> is the boldest departure for a series known for its laser-like focus on fast cars and tight driving mechanics. For the first time in <a href="http://www.needforspeed.com/therun">Need for Speed</a> history, you’re not a nameless, faceless driver; You play as an actual <em>person</em> named Jack. And Jack is facing tough times. “He’s a marked man,†explained Product Manager Darin Perfonic in a hands-on showcase last week. “He’s got serious problems with some guys who want him dead.â€</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Those “guys†are actually wiseguys -- the Mafia. And Jack’s last, best hope for survival lies in entering <a href="http://www.needforspeed.com/therun">The Run</a>, a sprawling 3,000-mile cross-country race from San Francisco to New York City. With a cool $25 million for a first-place finish, <a href="http://www.needforspeed.com/therun">The Run</a> represents Jack’s last chance for salvation before the wiseguys find him and settle Jack’s debts. 7. Just wondering what the time frame was for putting it back up. With the up coming Call of Duty: in country tournament up I know it would be nice to get some ladder matches in to keep clans warmed up and show guys what UF battles are all about before just throwing them in to the tac-map. That and I think we'd all like to see the surprise.
  8. so before anyone says it, yes, this should prolly go into the "movies" section. but this is not about movies. this is about america, and john wayne is about as ameri-fickin-can as you can get. they remade true grit? they reinvented rooster cogburn? this is not about a movie. this is about a shitty economy, a gevernment that is full of crooks, and now a remake of a john wayne movie. you cant remake a john wayne movie. it would be like rewriting the bible. it would be like flamebroiling a big mac. it would be like a gay lil bowtie on a good ol ford. what the hell has happened to this country?

IN YOUR OPINION - who was the...

...most influential man or woman in history? i would have to say Adolph Hitler. i have studied this man endlessly, and i do dot believe that any one person has influenced an entire country, even the world, as strongly as he did. i am not saying that i agree with him, or anything he did, but to this day germany is still under his grasp, although it is to totally hide what he did, instead of celebrating it. other countries still hunt for war criminals who were under his command, and i do not think that anybody has ever led with the authority that he did, right or wrong.
  12. What do you guys think now is the best country to pick for a clan? Basically whats the best weapon?

  14. On behalf of us here at UF, I would like to extend a warm greeting, and a thank you to all Veterans out there. It is because of YOU that we live in such a great, wonderful, and FREE country. THANK YOU! Have a great Veterans day!
  15. Tow I eat a lot of strange stuff, but Chocolated Covered Bacon, that has to be the wierdest sounding stuff I have ever heard of in my life. And for once I am not sure I would give that a go, the closest I have heard about strange bacon items was country fried bacon -- with gravy. But that def destroys that, as wierdest bacon item.
  16. Wondering if anyone else saw Kimbo's fight on CBS tonight? if so whats your thoughts? I thought it was crap, they want kimbo to become this huge star way too bad. he lost the first 2 rounds, the got 4 good shots on Thompson in the 3rd and the ref stops the fight. Thompson was fine, no reason to stop the fight. Kimbo can punch hard but sucks as a mma fighter. he fought a scrub tonight and should have lost. Enough is enough with kimbo, CBS primetime fight? ESPN cover? Country music award ceremony's? They want to make him a star so badly.
  17. I personally believe we could use more Ted Nugents in this country. And not just because of his stance on Gun Control but his stance on many issues being discussed in America today. What do you guys think? http://www.vidmax.com/index.php/videos/view/7041
  18. This is HILARIOUS!!!! I'm thinking about changing out my current program for this one. Although I don't think the gym will appreciate the humor of the underwear. I'm definitely adding his workout music to my iPOD. http://www.vidmax.com/index.php/videos/view/7043
  19. How do they defuse a potential bomb in a third world country? Well, glad you asked..... http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1126159200/3rd_World_Bomb_Squad In the U.S. bomb squad technicians wear shirts that say "If you see me running, try to keep up" In third world countries I guess it's "If you see me defusing a bomb, crowd around and watch"
