I don't know.....I got them and played Blood Lake tonight....and I loved it. I don't CARE if there's no demo right now....they'll most likely FIX it, and most likely quickly....and there's about 3-5 OTHER modes of play for each map. It's not like the entire map is disabled....just demo.....and I can live with that. I wasn't exactly clamoring for CoD4 while playing Socom tonight.....I just enjoyed the time. I'm not so demanding. Socom CA cost me $50, and they delivered MORE than $50 worth of entertainment to me over the course of a year....so I cannot complain. I played only Blood Lake tonight and cannot WAIT to play the other three in this new edition. CoD4...as much as I'm totally digging the game right now, will wait while I have some fun with some old friends (Socom II maps). I think sometimes people take this "Zipper does us wrong" angle a little TOO harshly.....and I'm NOT saying you guys are wrong or unjustified in feeling the way you do.....I just think that Zipper has entertained us for months or, for most of us, YEARS.....and I appreciate it. Hell, Urgent Fury was BORN from Socom. Everyone has some hiccups along the way, even a game developer. I can enjoy what I CAN play, and not care so much about what I cannot. I'm cool with the Map Pack 2 as well as the patch thus far.............

As of this point, there is NO script in Hollywood for a second installment of 30 Days of Night. This comes directly from Steve Niles himself. He DOES have two other scripts circulating production studios right now, but the next "30 Days" isn't one of them. There IS a second (and third) story to 30 Days (the next one being called "Return to Barrow," I believe) and you can read its graphic novel.....but no MOVIE script yet. Considering how well the movie translated from the original graphic novel, I guess you COULD consider the second and third graphic novels as adequate movie scripts.....SO GO READ 'EM!

That's only if the Big Bad Commander will let me. Actually....and this is still on the NEAR horizon, but both Sniper and I will be interviewed on all things UF by the Furious Commander himself. We're trying to coordinate a time for it to happen. And I won't be saying "yippee kai yay" at the end of it either....LOL

It was sketchy. On the Staff's last night of evaluation, we noticed that in PRIVATE MATCHES, you have the opportunity to turn dead chat OFF, TEAM ONLY, or FREE. For some reason, in ALL of them, the dead were able to talk to the dead on BOTH teams. Then, a map later, you couldn't. Then a map later, you could. It was like the game was confused and couldn't make up its damn mind. That part bothered me a lot, especially in a UF match aspect. Still researching...........

Oh, YOU got a PS3, Puddy......don't tell me the risk ain't worth it!
-
ANY man here who has a wife who TELLS HIM TO BUY A PS3.......well, sir.....you need to go do it before she changes her mind! LOL
-
Oh, quit cryin'....it's the current Flavor o' tha Month! Don't know how many times we'll have to say it....but SOCOM is STAYING here at UF as well! LOL
-
If ya haven't noticed by now.............LOL

I'll go ahead and let the little teaser out that preliminary play shows that Chili might have guesstimated about 1-1/2 of those correctly. ;D
-
Um......"sci-fi?" In WHAT part of the trailers on the internet and on tv did it EVER stray away from (seemingly) just a medieval type of genre? Weird....

I think Socom is dead for those who choose not to play it anymore. Socom CA is quite alive for those who do. Easy enough. Hopefully UF here can roll out enough tourneys for you gentlemen to keep the Socom fires burnin' bright for all the fair play you want!

I'm hoping to have the rules and set-up of The UF Crucible done BEFORE the sign-ups are released. Considering we're going to give clans roughly about a month or so to sign up before invite night, I think it'll give clans plenty of time to read everything to make sure that it's a tourney they wish to participate in.
-
I'll just say this....the upcoming rules for The UF Crucible will be in English. Take from that what you will.

There was a question put up here recently asking whether or not it would be acceptable to have a member join your CoD4 "clan" who is also a member of another clan in Socom from a clan in the UF Community. After some thought, we're going to ALLOW members of a UF SOCOM clan to join a "clan" on CoD4 for potential UF play. There ARE, of course, some things both players AND clans should consider when taking this step: > I feel it's safe to give the go-ahead on this as there are many clans here in the UF community that utilize clan forums and websites, typically giving their clan members private sections and information sensitive for that clan. Most clans I know of won't allow a member of, say, APC join their CoD4 "clan" but still remain APC in Socom....giving that CoD4-APCer access to their private sections of their forum and websites.....if a clan feels comfortable doing this, then so be it. If not, then the problem will take care of itself. > I would hope that, being a stabilized clan here in UF and knowing how this Community works on honor and courtesy, there would be a level of up-frontness about someone from one UF clan wanting to join the boys of another UF clan for one game over the other. I think that gunner just needs to be up front with his clan about it, and both clans should communicate on it, so that there are no feelings of back-stabbing or two-timing. > Any player submitted as a player in a CoD4 UF-roster will be recognized as part of that clan for the upcoming UF CRUCIBLE tourney. Any disruptions from squabbles between two clans will be squashed immediately by UF. So please, take care in "cross-clanning" so that disruptions and flare-ups are held to a minimum. With that said....all questions should be answered. We will still uphold our policy on not allowing UF Community clans taking on a gunner(s) from another UF clan IN THE SAME GAME/TOURNEY while that tourney is still in progress. Please adhere to this policy, as most clans have, and use CAUTION when "cross-clanning" between your SOCOM clan and your CoD4 clan. Thank you.

Please take some time to read the NEWS FADER that was updated with this info two days ago.

Yeah, that was a VERY interesting option to the HQ game......the HQ would pop up right away, saying "HQ has been located." During this time, you could stand next to it, but it wouldn't do anything....ensuring a fight over just the territory. Then, 30 seconds later, it would say "HQ is online!" and THAT'S when you're able to try and control it. VERY interesting aspect to the HQ thing. The OTHER cool thing we found was the parameters for friendly fire: > Disabled: you can shoot your team mates and nothing happens. > Enabled: your bullets and grenades hurt/kill your team mates. > Reflect: Your shots actually BOUNCE off your team mate and ricochet back ONTO you, with you absorbing the damage. > Shared: Your shots affect your team mate AND you. And also....on Seek & Destroy where teams flip-flop bomb possession in trying to plant against the other, there is an option for there to be TWO bomb plant sites, and teams have to coordinate offensively and defensively in TWO areas, not just one. With one, it becomes more of a BREACH-type map.....with two plants, things get a little more risky and chaotic.

I really don't like that there's a SET pattern. I'd much rather see that it had 4-5 variant patterns...and I DON'T think that would have been hard to implement.

Norton ain't always the best. It's kind of like McDonald's. You can find 'em EVERYWHERE.....but sometimes the little joint on the corner does a MUCH better job.

I actually said that very same EXACT thing last night.....and that's weird, because I know you weren't in the room. Turned on Socom last night to play it up with those in my clan not yet with a PS3, and when I went back to Socom.....first, the controls were tricky and I kinda sucked LOL....but second, there is a definite "leg-land" feel to Socom now after immersing yourself in the detail of CoD4. That's not to detract from the game of Socom itself....it's just that I am seeing the two as two separate animals. It was fun to get back to Socom again after a week and a half of CoD4, though. I missed Fault and Waterworks.
