  1. Yeah, sorry...just saw this, CP. Though I'll always oblige with a sig every now and then, I must confess that I'm not entirely good at sports-themed ones. Not my forte, so to speak. Sorry, and perhaps next time.
  2. Nine Inch Nails is offering their newest album, "The Slip," completely free as a download on their website. Found on slickdeals.net http://theslip.nin.com/ I have already downloaded it, listened to it and loaded it into my iPod. It's legit.

  5. Attention all members of Urgent Fury, Urgent Fury has been around for what we could call a long time now. We have entertained literally thousands of players since our humble beginning and we keep growing. That's due in large part to your dedication to our tournament format here and your continued attendance here at UrgentFury.com. That being said, Sniper and I have decided to open up a bit and have an open meeting of UF players for ANYONE who would like to attend. It will be held in the Windy City of Chicago at the end of summer. August 2nd, 2008 to be exact. Sniper will be coming in for the 5th APC-Gathering that our clan has held and it will be his first time in Chicago. We have approximately 10-14 APCers that will be present (numbers could increase as the weeks go by) and they will be in all weekend long. Sniper and I threw up a thread a little while ago here at UF seeing if players who lived in or around Chicago would like to get together over the summer and there were more than a few bites. Sniper and I talked it over and thought it would be a great opportunity for him not only to meet members of our clan, but also meet as many members of the UF Community as possible. We are ironing out plans as you read this. There are a few options available, but those options are somewhat dependent on knowing how many we'll have making the trek to Chicago. If there is a large amount, we thought that having it at the "Superdawg" because they, quite honestly, have some of the best hotdogs out there all with the retro kick of its drive-in atmosphere. Across the street we have the Peterson Park Forest Preserves where, if numbers dictate, we can hold something like a friendly UF-softball game of some sort littered with random activities like frisbee, horseshoes and make-out sessions on patch quilt blankets. The link for Superdawg is here: http://www.superdawg.com/ If the numbers AREN'T going to be that large, then we may settle for having some eats and brews over at Portillo's in downtown Chicago. Boasting two full floors, centrally located in a large area of eats and attractions, it would be a good staging area for the initial meet-n-greet as well as the staging point for wherever we wanted to take the party. Again, a type of retro atmosphere but here you will find the city's #1 spot for Italian Beef....not to mention anyone daring to have the Chocolate Cake Shake (my fave)! The link for Portillo's is here: http://www.portillos.com/ I will also be working with an old SOCOM acquaintance here in Chicago who owns his own bar and seeing if we can congregate there later in the evening and get some gamer drink specials going on. If you want to make this a husband/wife, BF/GF thing as well to fill your vacation quota for the year, don't fret about it. Nearly half of the APCers coming in will be bringing in their better halves for the weekend and we're all about making the we have some good, clean fun. This isn't a UF-sanctioned, sponsored and paid event by any means. This is simply Sniper and I being in Chicago for APC's clan gathering and the two of us extending an invite to players of UF. We'll simply let you know where we're going to be on August 2nd with the appropriate time, and if you're there, you're there! Of course, there will be TONS of pictures taken and some of the best ones will be posted up here on the UF website as we chronicle the day the UF creators came out of hiding. Some here have expressed interest in meeting us and we would LOVE to meet the players of the UF Community. And, the final bonus, it's going to be fun meeting many of the faces you've come to know here on the forums and battle online. This thread will be kept open and unlocked so that any questions and conversations can transpire. There will already be a party going on whether you show or not with APC's dozen+ members coming into town...so if you can make the flight/drive/crawl, you're MORE than welcome to join us! It's Chicago! There's MORE than enough to do once the APC/UF festivities have died down. Hope to see many of you there so Sniper and I can shake your hand and personally thank you for making UF what it has become and will most certainly become more of in the future. - TOW ___________________________________________________________________________________________ DEFINITE Attendees for the UF meet on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008- UF Creator Undertow UF Creator Sniper [APC] Tool Minion [APC] PrimeMeat [APC] Hush [APC] 46 and 2 [APC] Merlin [APC] Macoo [\H/] IrshZ28 [AoA] Deutscher75
  6. This is a reminder, everyone! The sign-ups for UF's first CoD4/PS3 TACMAP tourney, UF: Riot Act, will be closed on May 12th. The tourney will begin May 19th! Don't delay too long in signing up if you have the intention of doing so. Reminder: Your clan MUST have already finished either a previous TACMAP or previous evaluation tourney in order to sign up. There are currently 11 clans signed up and the maximum clans allowed for this tourney will be 20. Where's all our clans we've been entertaining for years?! Get on in the action. 13 weeks is a LONG time to be watching from the outside..... - TOW
  7. Dude, DON'T get him started again.
  8. Thread won't die on me. The tourney will just die if the Xbox clans that signed up for it do not come back to verify their interest in it.

    Podcast??

We appreciate it, though not needed. We ARE going to tap the community for more material in the future, and we have plans for that, but the podcast will continue to be written by UF. Contributions and the time for such WILL be announced when we get there.

    Attention PLEASE!!

We (I) had already KINDLY ASKED that no one be asinine enough to jump from one to the other in order to sling some stupid comment like that. MY folly was that I forgot to specifically include "KingJunk" in the post asking for this very thing. King, we're still waiting for the day here in UF when you actually have something POSITIVE and USEFUL to contribute to this community, OR, to somehow find the wisdom no doubt stuffed and forgotten in the back of your closet to simply just SHUT UP instead of being some moron who doesn't always know what a joke is and isn't, and when to try it or not. Please do not post in this Xbox section again. If a UF Staff member lets me know you've done otherwise, It'll be very tough for me to hide my smile as UF restricts your access here for a little while. If anything, we'll call it a vacation from stupidity. Take that as my only warning to you. - TOW
  11. Dude, PLEASE, let's not start that again. I was NOT "Getofftowsd1ck" REALLY. :'(

    Podcast??

I thought this was announced already, but perhaps I am mistaken. I could have been that Fury was going to announce this on the next podcast. Finalized two weeks ago, UF is giving Cmdr. Fury a "weekend" of sorts. From now on, the U-Freq podcast will be featured here on Mondays on a schedule of 3-on, 1-off. As in, three Mondays in a row, Fury and U-Freq will be here entertaining everyone for three weeks straight. On the fourth week, Cmdr. Fury gets the night off. Starting over on the fifth week (next Monday), Fury will be back for 3 weeks straight. Every job gets a weekend. If you don't, you're getting robbed. For this reason, we also thought to make sure that we gave Fury a "weekend" he can count on as well. These podcast productions are a tough business. I now know that from firsthand experience writing some of the segments....and believe me, that's the EASY part. It's like I lay the concrete foundation of a house in a pre-set molding in the ground....and Fury has to come in hauling the lumber, the concrete, the windows, the doors, the appliances, the electrical wire and EVERYTHING else that makes a house. By the time it's done, I've done 2% of the work, Cmdr. Fury does 97% of the finishing touch, and Sniper does 1% of the work for the upload. We work him pretty tough and it was our idea to approach him about "weekends off" so to speak. Like the members of our UF Staff, we never want someone to burn out. Cmdr. Fury is no exception. Hope this news doesn't disappoint you TO much and hopefully you can hold out for the next podcast coming NEXT Monday!
  13. Yeah, I'm having something VERY SPECIAL sent back to me so that I can give it to someone here on this forum who is VERY SPECIAL. LOL I cannot elaborate any more than that.
  14. Good luck Dubya! Keep this thread on top so we can be reminded!

  17. No, Krazy is close to correct. We are an over-privileged country. We are a self-entitled country. Turn on the Discovery Channel or hell, just turn on CNN for a little while. People in other countries, they: 1: walk miles and miles just to get their water 2: work for the equivalent of $2 a day that is enough for them to just buy bread and medicine 3: lose children because they can't afford medicine or don't know what medicine is 4: drive their cars until it only has one tire, one spark plug, no windshield, no paint job and no flooring left 5: have no dependable sort of heat, water, cooling, electricity for their housing 6: have to go two towns or cities over just to get to a phone line 7: well.....live in a COMMUNIST-run country 8: find that having their village plundered and raped by traveling militants is a normal, monthly occurrence 9: consider mud under their feet and a few sticks and leaves over their heads an actual house/home 10: die every single day from hunger that we simply quench by buying a Big Mac at every single corner Reasons 11-10,000: everything else that we consider "normal" and they consider a jaw-dropping miracle We live in the MOST wealthy, powerful, capitalist, secretive, privileged and utterly fucked up country in the world...and we feel we DESERVE to feel that way. That's why our wives drive the big SUVs without bearing the 10 children to fill it with. That's why we're the FATTEST friggin' country out there without it being attributed to some starvation disease. That's why the ONLY time our country as a whole forgets the wants of the self and proclaims patriotism for the country is when one of our buildings falls to the ground...otherwise, don't get in our way, don't inconvenience our day and don't fucking TALK to us. The people of our country KNOWS what it will take to turn our country and our futures around but we're FAMOUS for only talking about it and speculating about it but taking FOREVER to do something about it. People in other countries MOVE to the work so that they can work. We move tens of miles away from work so we can spend less money to live in a castle with some grass. In other countries, and I'm not talking just dust bowls either, people will have their 10-15 member family living in what we would consider a small 1-bedroom apartment. Look at what YOU live in. A 3-bedroom, 3 bathroom, 1 den, 1 livingroom, 1-1/2 kitchen, 1 foyer, 1 dining room (that's rarely used because we like to sit in front of the tv for dinner now), 3 car garage, 1 laundry room AND 3-5 televisions (so that you CAN eat dinner in the dining room....if the tv's in there)......and what do we do? Put about 2-4 people in there max? This is in no way a hate-post towards our country. I like the way we live, and then when I am confronted with images and stories from other parts of the world, I get a little ashamed. I say "little" because I am a typical American. I will move on, forget, and get along with MY day, not worrying too much that my only worry today is to pay my electric bill and go buy a fucking taco, while the Pablos or the Umbuktubos of the world are worrying if their child will eat some rice today or go on the THIRD day without food. I donate ten bucks to a charity, give a dollar to a homeless man or hold the door open for an old lady and think I'm actually HELPING the plights of the world. It's overwhelming sometimes....and that's why we choose not to think about it. We'll just go back to "getting away from all our troubles" while playing our $60 video games on our $500 gaming systems on our $4000 home theater system in our $300,000 house that we got home from work to in our $30,000 car. How we live isn't WRONG. How we live just makes it very EASY to forget how good we have it and how utterly lost, confused, idiotic and angry we get if or would get if it were ever lost or taken away from us. There are a lot of writers out there who liken the US to ancient Rome. I don't know if something THAT drastic such as a "Fall of Rome" will ever truly happen to the United States...but I certainly think it is POSSIBLE. And Rome didn't fall because of the outside...it first started to crumble from within. The mightiest empire.
  18. Some of you may know that this past weekend was Free Comic Book Day. It's a day where your local comic shop will have a pre-set list of comics that publishers offer for FREE in order to entice new readership. Atomic Comics (retail store) arranged something that NO other store was able to do, and that was to amass ALL ORIGINAL Image Comics creators under one roof, under one table, without tearing into each other....and the day went by pretty darn good. Here's a link to some retailers posting up pics of their various stores on Free Comic Book Day: http://live.comicbookresources.com/page/4/ On the link I provided above, you can see on pics 4 and 5 down from the top, Jim Valentino is opening up a few yellow envelopes containing comic books to have signed by all the Image creators. Those envelopes are MINE. ;D My wife is an editor at Image comics and she shipped comics that I had from ALL the creators to them on Friday. They signed them all INCLUDING a very rare (I say rare, because I found out that when they all saw the "Image Plus" issue I sent to them, they all got a cool kick out of it as many of them forgot it existed. I ALSO got Jim fucking Lee drawing a BATMAN on one of the envelopes that's being sent back to me. Those two images I have saved and will post them here. Just thought some of you comic enthusiasts and readers would find this to be cool. Anyway.....CHEERS!
  19. That goes in the win column no matter what you say. Now go ROLL your eyes over there, son! LOL
  20. I saw this when I watched the episode and it was my favorite part of the whole show. Thing is.....Stewie was saying everything I AGREED with. That he was good in Dazed and Confused, but it all went to hell from there. LOL Go Stewie.

    Iron Man

I would only hope that they use an actual Marvel villain the second time around, of which I'm sure they will. That just seems to follow, really, the only other Marvel Hollywood movie that DIDN'T really use an actual villain from the Marvel U; The Hulk.
  22. Thats EXACTLY it Tow. I was listening to "old school rap" on Sirius one day and the song "Top Billin" came on and it just popped out at me. I thought it was cool when a clan could use text from there name as a tag. ToP B[iLL]iN So, you combine that with the meaning of top billing and it just clicked. And it just went from there. BOOM! I win again! LOL ;D
  23. Actually....they WILL be there and they WILL be in squares. Or rectangles....whatever. ANYWAY.....good luck to the clans of Black! The road through the clans in the bracket may be a little shorter, but it doesn't mean it's any less treacherous. Good luck to all clans and may the best one win it all.

    Iron Man

I really liked this movie. I walked in thinking I would only think it was so-so, because being a comic book enthusiast, Iron Man was just a character I never really got into. Never my cup of tea. So being a fan of the Spider-Man and X-Men movies, I didn't think this one would rate high up there. Now, I won't say that this one ranks up there with those two trilogy powerhouses....but this was a COOL ASS MOVIE. I liked it. Tony Stark was played to a tilt by Downey Jr. He made the flamboyant character of Stark come alive in such small nuances that I think if anyone else tried to do it, it would have come out as a forced cool. Downey does a great job as a care-to-the-wind rich playboy. The suit itself was just AWESOME. I walked out with a new appreciation for the character that I've NEVER had through reading the Avengers comic books. And yes, you WILL wish you were the dude getting outfitted with that armor every time he suits up. It's bad ass. Speaking of Avengers........for those going to see it and never too keen on the internet chat about movies.....STAY UNTIL THE CREDITS ARE DONE. If you're a FAN of the comics, you'll want to stay. For those who have NO conception of comic book story lines and such, the clip at the end of the credits may not carry as much weight with you.
  25. It was part of your website package, remember? Well... uh... Yes I remember, I just still wanted to say that it looked great and i appreciated it. .... ok, I forgot. LOL....next time, you CAN just take the direct road and simply say "HEY, we have a banner on the UF website.....GO LOOK!" LOL And RedOctober...I'm just taking an outside stab at this, but maybe "Top Billin" means that they're the headliners....in a list of performers going on stage at a concert, "top billing" usually means they're the bigger acts and go on at the end of the night, when all the smaller acts go first? My guess at the mystery, anyway.
