  1. The 2008 Cubs and 2009 opening day Cubs were widely considered the best team on paper, moreso the 2008 team. Now they are the most overpaid shit team on toilet paper. They don't even deserve to be on that paper. I hope they trade EVERYONE at the deadline. I want to throw up watching them. Keep the youth, get rid of the rest of the overpaid slouches that you can find takers for. Lilly, Lee, Fukudome, and a few others should be dealt. I love Lilly, but we can get a solid return for him and he's aging. Zambrano and Ramirez will be nearly impossible to move and Soriano is impossible to move. We need to re-stock and build from the farm. Get a solid core going, on top of the talent we already have in the minors and the few that have already broken in to the bigs (Castro, Colvin, Kashner). Rebuild and make a run at it in a few years, when we will be buyers in free agency again to fill any holes. This team had it's best chance in 2008, it's time for new faces and a new manager. Lou doesn't have the fire anymore, especially not to motivate this slack off group. Bob Brenly described them best "a dead-ass team."
  2. It's a service, but for someone like myself who will put it to good use it is a GREAT deal. Just like Netflix, Gamefly, Sirius, and ESPN Insider (all of which I subscribe too). I watch a lot of movies, play a lot of games, listen to a lot of music, and love to read about sports. So to me they are all expenses that I would be using anyways, so if I can save money in the process I am all for it. If I didn't have the money for leisure spending, then obviously I wouldn't subscribe to this stuff, but would buy it on a need it basis. If I'm in the market for a product and if subscribing to a service opposed to a one time purchase is cost efficient, count me in. That's the way I look at it anyway. I bought Plus for the year. I buy a lot of games/avatars from the PS store, so it will save me money in the long run. Also Irish I'm going to borrow your bottom bar.
  3. WOW awesome freakin' post Nemesis! I just upgraded to a SLIM and was planning on selling my old one on EBAY. I was just about to list it today after I wipe the harddrive clean. I bought my slim from Best Buy, because their warranty replacement plans are second to none. No waiting, if it breaks you can exchange it immediately. I have my Tritton headset warranted there as well and it has saved me over $450 to date just on the headsets alone. I'm going to bring mine to gamestop for sure. On Ebay the 80 Gig 2 usb port model is selling for on average $235-250, so after Ebay and Paypal fees I'll clear about $200. Taking it to Gamestop for that same value is WAY more convenient. Thank you so much for the heads up Nemesis. This will also help out a clanmate, whose PS3 just broke, forcing him to upgrade next week.
  4. Is the Gamer Club membership the same as Rewards Zone? That's the only thing I have from Best Buy. If someone knows a little more on the topic I'd love to hear what it is. Also I downloaded the app.
  5. Yes, you're looking for assistance off. Hawx was a GREAT game. The co-op and single player was pure awesome and the online play was BAD ASS. There is a Hawx 2 coming out later this year and I personally can't wait.
  6. That's ok, The Hawks, Bears, and Bulls successes should suffice nicely until the Cubs are contenders again. I'm used to the Cubs sucking, it's nothing new to me. I bleed Cubbie Blue, but in my lifetime we traditionally contend for a brief period, then fall into oblivion for the ensuing 3-5 years to rebuild. I just have high hopes that someday the "best team on paper" can actually win a World Series while I'm still breathing. I say "The best team on paper" because that's a term that was used VERY often in 2008, then in the offseason leading up to 2009. Names on paper don't win you games, performance does. On that note, I got free tickets to the Cubs-Sox game tomorrow at the Cell. 9 rows behind home plate, look for me lol. I'll be the lone guy in the Cubs Jersey enjoying the tons of free food that the "United Scouts" section entitles you too, including an open bar. In 2008 there is no way I would've got these tickets for less than a grand a piece. Fast forward to 2010, they came to me free LOL.
  7. Tool could you imagine Lash with this?! LOL Lazy Italian would probably bring a chair in with him! LOL Please don't tell me CampShane23 is talking? That is cool and a lot of people think that is the future of gaming. There was something similar in the film Gamer if memory serves.
  8. Hippie OP is an acronym for "Original Post(er)." Also Deutscher immediately popped into my head. Him or Fury- would be my guess.
  9. Without getting overly involved as this is a situation that mostly only concerns FW and opK, I'll comment on the rank up portion of this topic, which is the real issue. I completely agree Crusty. Ranking up on Socom to my knowledge gave you no real advantage except a somewhat different symbol than everyone else. Ranking up on MW2 is totally different as there are advantages gained by each tier of the rank system you move up. We're talking about strictly Confrontation though. If someone were to rankup on Confrontation, would it have an impact on a UF war played involving that member? No. Would that open the door to MANY questions about the integrity of said player and his clan. Absolutely yes. I remember during the application process to UF3, The Teamplayers were denied FLAT OUT, because they had several members in their clan in the top 100 of the Socom 3 leaderboard. Did they gain an advantage on anyone else? No. Did it look shady to everyone in the community and then beg the question what ELSE would these guys be willing to do, since they did not earn their rank legitimately? Hell yes. The Teamplayers have since cut ties with that sort of practice, to my knowledge, and are a well respected clan. My point here is, like Crusty, the integrity of the player(s) involved is severely called into question. Where do they draw the line between ranking up to get "cool" symbols and utilizing flaws in the game during gameplay (ala cord-pulling, going in areas the game did not intend, etc)? Ranking up has always been a sort of gray area at UF until the Modern Warfare games. My stance on it has always been firmly against it on ANY game. If you can't earn it legitimately, then what's the point of playing? It casts a huge shadow over anyone who partakes in it and subsequently their clan as well. Let's forget about WHO the video was posted by and WHY it was brought here. Phantom has had his fair share of public ostracizing here at UF, but let's ignore his blatant disguise and ill intended post directed at UF, and look at the facts since they are now on the table. The facts are that two FW players appear to be in a designated "rank up room." The room does not appear to be one of those rooms where Socom Servers suck and everyone got booted or left. That is evident by the other videos containing the same lopsided teams in different maps. This would now, in my opinion, be a matter for the staff to decide on. FW as a clan is not guilty of anything, I want to make that clear. We should all let this thread simmer down and let the Staff and Admins discuss, as I am sure they are already doing. We all have great trust and faith in the Staff and Admins here at UF to do the right thing for the community, whatever that calls for. Disclaimer: I used the Teamplayers as an example. I do not intend for my post to reflect negatively on the image of them or FW, but simply used them as an example to illustrate a point.
  10. The Chicago Blackhawks made a blockbuster trade with the Thrashers on Wednesday, the Stanley Cup champions moving Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel and a prospect to Atlanta for a first-round pick, a second-round pick, prospect Jeremy Morin and veteran forward Marty Reasoner, a source told ESPN.com. The first- and second-round picks that Chicago get in the deal were acquired by Atlanta in the trade that sent Ilya Kovalchuk to New Jersey last February. The prospect Atlanta is getting from Chicago is Akim Aliu. The deal is pending a call to the league for approval. The Blackhawks have not confirmed the trade. "It is what it is," Byfuglien said on "The Afternoon Saloon" on ESPN 1000. "It's part of the job. You're not going to stick in one spot the whole time so I've got to go." The Blackhawks were in dire need to get rid of salary as new contract extensions for Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith next season put them in a major salary cap crunch. The Hawks save just over $5 million in cap space with the trade. Byfuglien has one year left on his contract paying him $3 million, which is also his cap hit. Sopel has one year left on his deal at $2 million although his cap hit is $2.3 million. Eager is a restricted free agent who earned $965,000 this past season so retaining his rights would have cost at least that much. The only salary the Hawks get back is Reasoner, who has one more year left on his contract at $1.2 million and his cap hit is $1.15 million. The Hawks will still have decisions to make on whether to keep the relatively high salaries of forwards Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg. Byfuglien was a major force in the Hawks' run to the Cup, switching from defense to forward to fill needs with the team. His work in front of the net was a big part of dispatching the Canucks and Sharks in the postseason. He battled Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger continuously in the Cup finals. He broke through with two goals and two assists in a Game 5. Byfuglien finished with 17 goals and 17 assists in the regular season last year. He had a career high 19 goals in 2007-08. Eager posted seven goals and nine assists in 60 games. Sopel was only a plus-3 for the season but was a big part of the Hawks' penalty kill, especially late in the regular season and the playoffs. Reasoner had four goals and 13 assists, his 11th in the league.
  11. Ok so what so what was your answer? LMAO that's great.
  12. Hope all the fathers out there had a great day!
  13. Let's see them make the playoffs first. The Yanks, BoSox, and Rays are all going to be battling for the Division and Wild Card. It will be interesting to watch it all unfold come September.
  14. I've actually heard the Tritton AX 720 is leaps and bounds better than it's supposed "one-upper" the AX Pro. A lot of stores don't even carry the AX Pro due to consumer complaints and returns. I went with the AX 720 when I first endeavored into the High Quality Gaming Headsets due to the bad reviews the AX Pro received.
  15. I really couldn't have said it any better Prane and Meaux. To say the Big 10 doesn't have any teams that can compete with the SEC, Pac 10, and Big 10 is really cutting the conference short...
  16. Yeah, FX has really risen to the top in terms of their series. They bring a lot of great, well written shows to their viewers.
  17. Myk head to your profile and put your tags in front of your name.
  18. So, what did everybody think, now that season one has concluded? I personally LOVED this show. Being that I am going into Law Enforcement and more particularly the Marshals or another Government agency in the future, I found the show very appealing. I loved how the entire season came full circle right back to the opening pilot. Timothy Olyphant plays the role absolutely perfect and Walton Goggins adds his great acting to the fold. I have got to say though...Raylan's X-Wife is SMOKING. Her real name is Natalie Zea. We need to get her into the next UF hottest babe contest! Overall I think this is one of the best new series out there, if not the best. Season 2 won't start until early 2011, so it gives everyone a chance to check it out if you haven't. You won't regret it.
  19. Indeed. Best of luck fellas. I'd hope that those Socom only UF free agents give this rare opportunity a whirl tonight. RVN has a great group and you won't be disappointed, just watch out for that 6ravity guy LOL.
  20. The Big 10 will gladly take Nebraska out of this.
  21. x7. I hate seeing a hundred quote boxes, so I won't quote. I actually just had to pick up a new AX 720 last week as the microphone piece on mine cracked in half. Thank God for the Best Buy warranty, I just walked in grabbed another and swapped it out at customer service (with a new receipt to show the new serial number on my warranty). As long as the product stays the same quality I will stick with Tritton. I'm waranteed on this one until January of 2012. At that point I'll either stick with Tritton or upgrade to Astro.
  22. I just have one thing to say about the M's...What in God's name happened to Chone Figgins?! He was supposed to be the catalyst to your offense, but he looks like a shell of himself. At 8.5 million this year, you GROSSLY overpaid. Btw thanks for Carlos Silva! He's been one of the few bright spots for my Cubbies and is the leading candidate by far for NL Comeback Player of the Year (Troy Glaus a distant 2nd).
