  1. they two moles left at the end could always try to taunt each other to death... if that doesn't work then I'd say the do a DANCE off!! LOL.
  2. LMAO!!! I'm hoping that was just a typo.. if not then that's just crazy.. "my 50" broke but they gave me a 47" for it right away!" LOL too funny!
  3. You've been lucky.. the flaws of Samsung aren't evident until you get one with a problem.. as long as they are fine then there isn't anything to complain about. It's when you get a bad unit, even one that is brand new that you gain a little insight into why I prefer others. I'm happy that you have had a good experience, I'm sure there are many others who have had good units from them. All I'm saying is from experience, and this comes from purchasing an average of 500 units a year from different manufactures, is that if a unit is inoperable on delivery than I expect a replacement, I don't expect to have to send a brand new unit away for weeks to be repaired. Every other company replaces the unit with a new one if the unit is defective. not Samsung. and for units that make it past 30 days yet fall within the warranted period Samsung is slow, and difficult to deal with for service. If you get a good one than its all good, but get a lemon and you can't even make lemon aid with it.. its too sour. Its only an opinion however, take it for what its worth, my top choice for LCD is Tosh, next, Sharp, than Phillips, Sony and LG in no particular order. Samsung's low rating by me is not due to their product appeal.. they make a very nice unit for a good price.. if not for their poor customer satisfaction service I would rate their units high in terms of picture quality and features.
  4. They aren't saying they won't repair it.. they will and honor that. But they are saying that is your only choice to have them repair it.. Doesn't matter if you just opened the box or not, it goes in for repair and does not get a replacement. Others don't do this. Its like I said the difference is is your brand new TV in your house or off getting repaired for six weeks right after your bought it? I don't mean to rag on Samsung, but my point is the exact same.. How can a company do this? if if doesn't work right out of the box then give me another one right then and there.. Samsung is the only one that doesn't offer replacement within thirty days.. combine that with a high percentage of units from them that don't work from day one (Imagine that the one with the highest failure rate in first 30days doesn't offer replacement? goat figgur.. ) and I think you see my point.
  5. Yep and I would say that's a good choice for sammy's go with the stores warranted or extension plan. For a dealer like myself, I can't do that. I buy straight from the manufacture or distribution center. Can you imagine doing a sports bar or something, you open up brand new TV's for mounting and you have to tell the customer, sorry six of your twelve TV's need to go in for repair.. They don't want to hear that shit, they want twelve tv's working on opening day. And I don't blame them, From a sound business point of view I simply cannot afford to use Samsung given the way they DO NOT stand behind their own product, Panny, Tosh, Sony, sharp.. all would immediately replace the units with brand new ones.. no questions asked.. given that why take a risk with a sammy.. Of course that's from a commercial point of view, for an end user it may very well be a good deal..
  6. Lots of units with four HDMI inputs.. Tos 42RV535U, Tos all of sizes in the XV535U series. Sharp AQUOS Series, Sony Bravia KDL series, and your Samsung A530. On the contrast ratio.. that’s a ploy 50k to 1.. yeah but DYNAMIC not NATIVE.. its sort of like zoom ratio for a camera there is zoom and then there is digital zoom.. you want to know the NATIVE contrast ratio, you could give a shit less what the dynamic ratio is. Like I’ve said with Sammy’s it’s a crap shot, I do hope you get a good one, because like was mentioned in another post, with Samsung if the unit doesn’t work right out of the box.. too bad its’ yours they won’t take it back.. which for me is reason enough to not buy their product
  7. He's suffering from Sham-Wow-Syndrome. Besides that's no way to rant.. observe: I don't even watch TV any more.. I mean sports! sure but that's about it. For movies I just rent them or buy em or download em. Ever look at the tv listings at 3am 90% of them are "Paid Advertisement" WTF? and what the hell is the deal with commercials these days? I watched a show with the boy the other night (by his request) and I swear it was like five minutes of the show followed by 15 minutes of commercials.. etc.. etc.. HOLY crapola!! it was ridiculous.. more than half the commercials were commercials for other shows!! fuck! you pay these assholes for cable, sat service, then they bombard you with commercials.. No wonder why we all play a game that doesn't work,, who the hell wants to watch TV?
  8. That sucks.. sold out eh? guess that says something... Gigabyte.. better the MSI less then Asus, but thats just IMO. I'm sure it will be just fine, as long as it supports the peripherals you are using then you're set.

  10. Hanni won't give youu his goat. He wont get anymore action without her. LOL WTF? Hanni's goat? them's fighting words!! whyIoutta!! oh its on now Bandit!!
  11. sorry bro, Da goat is PBK 4-Life... thanks for the compliment of considering me as good a player as Hannibal though. ;) p.s. best of luck to you in your rebuilding process Junk.
  12. Well if that's the case than, A) you've got more use of the unit than most. Its not going to last much longer anyway C) New units are much cheaper these days D) Start thinking about how nice your new TV will be. LOL, get all the use you can out of it, New units life expectancy is about five years so anything past that is just a bonus. It may be time for a new TV and if its not than it won't be long until it is. Funny I remember my dad's old RCA console TV lasting 25 years... these days five is good? and they say technology has improved??
  13. Is this one of the first HDReady TV’s? if it is then it may be not even doing 720p and instead is displaying 720p as an option but instead is actually only 576p. *note that there is an unresolved bug with the first HD products where even if you have a HD ready TV, the display may still default to 576p (even if your TV is capable of displaying 720p / 1080i) a lot of people were effected by it. If it has HDMI then I’d say yes you should switch to HDMI cabling. HDMI cable’s sync negotiation may help the unit properly decode the sync information better than the component lines. Lastly I’ll say this again 720p is superior to 1080i, I don’t care how they list it in the Ps3’s display settings. Progressive scan over Interlaced far outweighs the added resolution.. Yes 1080i has more pixels but 720p’s refresh rate is DOUBLE that of 1080i.
  14. No I thought maybe they had a friend demo number.. like Socom did when it was a demo. I'm not into any EU account making just for this demo. Its not like its Socom or something and it will be another couple of months before its out.
  15. The "distributed" is implied. I don't even want to know what kind of packets you've been sniffing...
  16. HDMI vs component or for that matter DVI. DVI and HDMI are the same thing as far as video.. HDMI however carries the audio with it but they both use the same encoding scheme. Component delivers video as separate,, R,G,B colors along with the sync info (determines line or frame beginning points) HDMI/DVI uses (ok a big word) Transmission Minimized Differential, TMDS for short, the sync info is added to the blue channel, Red&Grn are separated. Its Dig vs Analog, which one would assume Dig. Is better due to less signal loss and no errors, however that’s not always true. Sig loss is about distance anyway, for Home Theaters the short length means not much diff between the two. For long runs such as AV distribution, HDMI simply doesn’t cut it, once you get past about 20-30 feet that’s it Analog can go up to 200 feet and even further with amplification. HDMI signals don’t do error correction, when the signals gone.. its gone for good. Again for short distances and good cables this isn’t even an issue. Another often heard aspect is Dig or HDMI doesn’t need to be converted like analog to digital conversion. But that’s not really true either, dig. Signals are not encoded the same way so they have to be scaled processed and converted (in a different way) just as much as analog. Dig to Dig conversion isn’t any better than Analog to Dig. Which brings us to the nitty gritty.. Its all about the equipment, the display and the unit giving the signal output which all depends on each of their internal circuitry. So which is the best choice? There is no simple answer. Too many variables due the output source and the display being used. Trial and error is the only way, your DVD may look better with HDMI however for some reason your Sat receiver looks better using component? Etc. etc. etc.. HDMI cables aren’t too expensive so get one and compare the two then decide for yourself which picture looks the best.
  17. Didn’t I answer this in another thread a year ago? Probably? But anyway and dammit I’ll try to keep it to 100 words or less but I doubt I can… LOL P vs I.. or progressive vs interlaced.. Look it up! No ok I’ll short summarize, Interlace = scans the image in alternate order like row 1, 3, 5 etc. than 2, 4, 6 scan rate is half of progressive at 1/30th of a sec each line Progressive = scans the image in order 1,2,3,4, etc.. scan rate is 1/60th of a sec per line. I could go into more detail but basically progressive is better and gives a smoother more detailed image. Many would argue 720p is better than 1080i and I would probably be part of that crowd. When I had a 720p native television which does 1080i I unchecked the 1080 output of the PS3 and went 720p. On a 1080p native unit I go to 1080p output. Short and done but there was another ?.. or highjack.. so…
  18. I'm tossing my name in the hat for the kind soul with an extra voucher code as well. PM or EM or just say YO! Goat.. ovah here.. if you can spare your second code after you do the primary code holder download thang.
  19. Yes!! Denial of service attacks are illegal in the US under 12 different statutes, including the Economic Espionage Act and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. its not a question of it being a crime.. its a federal crime and a felony at that. That these idiots are committing a federal felony in order to cheat in a video game or simply to get a "take that sucker" smug laugh out of it is the point I was making in posting this. The sheer stupidity of it is beyond words. Why then do they do it? For one.. obviously they are immature retards. Either they don't know its illegal (ignorance of the law is not an excuse) or else they don't care. Also they must have deep pockets (or at least Dad's deep pockets) to do it. Cost is around $2 a peg and it takes about 60 pegs for one IP DDoS... yep around a $120 a pop. And I won't even mention the money goes to some third world country company that now has Dad's credit card info. But the main factor its being done isn't the illegality of it.. its because they can get away with it. For now it seems to be impossible to tag anyone doing it and prove their guilt. Their real source IP is hiding within a horde of spoof'd IP's many of which belong to unsuspecting unknowing people. The feds aren't bothering to put resources towards finding a way to catch anyone. They have far more things to worry about then the security of a video game. But given just how pinheaded these kids must be.. sooner or later they are going to cross the line. Interfere with the wrong DNS server shut down a network that draws some attention and give the feds the thought that maybe they better do something before this bites us in the arse. When that happens, just like the early days of the internet when federal officers showed up at Jhonny's house and pulled the little basterd out of his bedroom for hacking into the wrong place.. so too will daddy's little brat face the music for misuse of a game console. Unfortunately for now it looks like the feds could care less.
  20. Wanna play Halo? You might wanna rethink Xbox's claim of delivering a anti-cheat environment. http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2009/02/botnets-beat-sp.html Yeah they use something like DNS amplification to do their DDoS (Denial of Service) extortion. They even bypass the recursive queries, basically they send a small amount of data to a name server which tells the server to send a shitload of data to the target IP. Your system more or less overloads.. They can spoof the source and insert the target IP without even being detected. Unfortunately since this isn't a virus there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. Its up to the ISP's to enforce stricter DNS server operator security. Rich little basterd's with no principals are actually using this in online games.. unbelievable!!! This technique is a felony, yet the chance of getting caught is basically zero. So the brat deploys his botnet and crashes your system... Seems for every one honest player there are ten that have no bounds to the level of dishonesty they will go.
  21. Holds up three fingers.. tells Chilli to read between the lines...
  22. Nothing to see.. hmm did you really think I'd have nothing to say on this?? LOL. In fact it requires a "Goat post" which pertains to this thread but also serves the community has a statement on what membership here should mean to each of us. How anyone seeking to become involved here at Urgent Fury should be considered. No one should be pre-judged, any candidate has the opportunity to prove their merit before their character is determined. Hello Admiration, sorry I didn’t see your post before today. Although not officially I try to make sure new members here feel welcomed when I can. It looks like your thread got a bit off in a non-productive direction. I’ll try to address some of the issues in a cordial manner. First; we have nothing against Game Battles, GB is just a site that offers tournaments. The generality that anyone that plays at GB is not welcomed here is false. GB members receive a bad rap since the percentage of participates in GB who utilize dishonorable tactics in gaming is high enough that generalizations occur. However this does not mean that anyone that participates in GB is dishonorable nor disrespectable. I myself as well as my clan have participated at GB as have many other members of UF. The difference is at UF we strive to maintain and insure a zero tolerance for any form of unethical online gaming play. We have found that to provide this circumstance the use of referee’s or the attempt to police games is ineffective. Therefore we utilize a stringent pre-screening of potential members and clans prior to inclusion in main Urgent Fury events. The evaluation process determines the credibility of the potential new members. To a large extent the guidelines of play here at UF fall upon the self administration of honesty and the self regulation of a given clans members to the following of the guidelines that insure honor and civil gaming. Every potential member or clan undergoes an evaluation to insure their reliability in adherence to the guidelines. Neither the past history nor statements given prior to an evaluation have any bearing on a potential new clans inclusion. We are not interested in a candidates past nor the opinions from a third persons view of their credibility. It is only the actions, conduct and demeanor demonstrated by a candidate during the evaluation process as well as the behavior they establish and maintain from the moment they enter our house. From the first instance a new member establishes a desire to compete and become a member of UF's community they are given a clean slate. From that point however, the manner they carry themselves and the sustained verification of their commitment to honor determines their continuation in the UF community and the events offered here. Please don’t take the views expressed by some of the members as hostile. They only stem from the pride they have in participation at Urgent Fury. Our membership’s genuine agreement towards each others commitment of honesty lends itself to the community’s safe guarding of Urgent Fury’s accord. Sometimes from the view point of a new member this appears as hostility, once a member proves themselves and realizes the benefits gained from the assurance of a competitors commitment to honor they too become cautious and guarding of the principles of Urgent Fury. If your are interested in forming a clan and would like to be a candidate then do not let your past stop you. Only the actions you demonstrate from the point of your application have a bearing. Regardless of any clan members past history. The chance to change, began anew and follow a path of honor is afforded to any and all here at Urgent Fury. Those that hold themselves to honor above all will always be welcomed those that stray the course are quickly excluded from further participation. Welcome to Urgent Fury Goat.
  23. That's a good basic all around stable mainboard.. the thing I like about Asus vs others is their support. The PRO series and Revolution models of the P6T's have a bit more bells and whistles but if you're not using the onboard audio for high end sound (i.e. basic two channel or headphones) then the standard one is just fine. Its not Asus anyway so much as the lower tier *Realtek onboard sound. Again I'm not impressed with Realtek's offering for much of anything. Better sound cards and PCI Lan cards aren't that expensive and the onboard stuff is fine as you can always upgrade later. The onboard Realtek stuff is easily disabled in the bios. I've found Asus boards setup and post really easy without too much trouble. Check often at Asus's site http://www.asus.com/products.aspx there are already a few updates including a bios update that fixes the standby issue in Vista. Again I've found that Asus really keeps up to date with their support downloads and fixes. I think that's a good decision on the Barracuda.. You need to multiply the actual space you will use by around 10x.. with 750gb it will take a lot of software before you're using 10% or 75gb. The less drive space you actually use the better it performs.. that 74gb would have been 25% filled just by an OS. The 10k speed of the WDig would not even come close to make up for the difference in used drive space. In the past using one drive for the OS and another for storage was due to this factor. However today's huge drives sort of eliminate the need for that. You could always partition the huge amount of space, but again if you're using less than 10-20% of the drive its not really a concern. Some programs such as Photoshop perform better when a second drive is used for rendering, less of a factor if the main drive has ton's of free space, and you could always add a second drive if you ever wanted to. If you plan on using it for PC gaming and plan on running some games from the disk, then take another look at a better DVD drive, the liteon is fine for a second DVD used for CD or DVD transfers but for games you want something faster and better quality. No need for two DVD R/W's so if it was me I'd add a non-RW DVD RAM drive with a higher transfer rate for gaming and use the second slower RW drive primarily for writing. And yep as was mentioned the power supply is a crucial part. Don't over power it and don't under power it. The higher the output the higher the heat generated and the more you need cooling which requires more power... (its a vicious loop!! LOL). This takes looking closely at the spec's for your components and their power ratings. Try to find a happy medium and make sure the power supply has ample self cooling fans. From your list I'd say 580watts is bare min. and 1000 is max.. something in between that range is optimal. Anyway, don't rush anything.. building a PC from scratch is actually a lot of fun and its always nice when someone ask where you got your PC and you can say.."I built it myself" p.s. all this talk and looking at those new components has me wanting to build yet another new PC, even though I already have several. The one down side is whatever you spend today for the newest components will in no time at all have something better for the same or lower price.. its impossible to keep up. Of course that doesn't mean I'm not already jealous of what you're putting together. LMAO!
  24. Beautiful site. Nice job and congrats amigo.
  25. Yeah I mentioned the Intel board because it is the first one with Fire-Dual Graphics, but I still favor the Asus boards.. although again that MSI isn't bad at all, just some issues on it seen on the reviews. For the hard drive, this one is the ticket... http://www.axiontech.com/prdt.php?item=82823 32mb cache SATAII Barracuda.. 750gb at less than that 74 gb western dig.
