Are you ready for some action? Today’s the day that Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is… unleashed! As Neptunia’s very first hack ‘n’ slash (developed by Tamsoft, the fine folks behind the Senran Kagura games), you know this game will bring the action and the laughs to your PS Vita! The setting is a peaceful Gamindustri, but the CPUs and the CPU Candidates tasked with protecting the land find all this peace a little dull. Enter esteemed journalists Famitsu and Dengekiko to give these Goddesses something to do! What is it they have them do? Why, fight in newsworthy brawls for fans to read about as a meta-commentary on the game industry, of course! Pick from a roster of ten characters, including newcomer playable characters Famitsu (weapon: a giant shrimp) and Dengekiko. From combo-crazy to heavy damage-dealers to ranged attackers, each character is equipped with her own unique fighting style! You can go solo or you can pair up two characters to fight in battle, freely tagging in the other with a tap of the D-pad. Strategically choose your characters based on their fighting styles and the requirements of the mission, or just pick them to hear the character-specific banter they’d have. The more times two characters fight in battle, the higher their Lily Rank will get, unlocking special bonuses like faster EXP gains! During battle, you’ll face down relentless hordes of enemies using a variety of light and heavy attack combinations both on the ground and in the air. As you attack, you can build up your SP gauge to unleash devastating special attacks you’ve learned. And this wouldn’t be a Hyperdimension Neptunia game if you couldn’t perform an HDD transformation — build up your EXE bar to assume your ultra-powerful Goddess form with new attack combos and her own special attacks that are heavy on the pain! Even Famitsu and Dengekiko get their own transformations. Don’t get too confident though, because if you take too much damage or spam too many high-level attacks, you’ll experience a “Costume Break,†dramatically lowering your defense but upping your attack. For all of its flashy hack ‘n’ slashery, we’ve still gotta pay homage to our RPG roots. You’ll get to level up your characters and boost their stats in battle, while also collecting enemy medals to unlock powerful new weapons, stats, and equipment — including unbreakable outfits! Like any good RPG, you’ll also receive a variety of missions that go beyond slaughtering enemies, including some special mystery missions! Even when you’ve finished the main story, you’ll have two extra challenging game modes, one of which pits you in a tournament against the other characters in a one-on-one test of strength and skill. Show ’em who the real Goddess is! So grab your ridiculously oversized gun and blast your way into a hack ‘n’ slash experience with depth and humor, and let’s bring a little action up in this piece! God of War III Remastered is available for pre-order worldwide! It will be available in stores and digitally on July 14, 2015. If you pre-order now at retail or on PlayStation Store, you’ll get the brand new God of War – Fall of Olympus Dynamic Theme at the game’s worldwide launch. For retail pre-orders the code will be provided to you on pick up. North American players that pre-order on PlayStation Store will receive the theme early, next week on May 26th, along with free 90-day rentals for God of War I & God of War II through PlayStation Now. Pre-order God of War III Remastered | PlayStation Store To whet your appetite for the epicness ahead, we have a sneak peek at the iron spike and chain hook-filled face off against Hades, the Lord of the Underworld. The video, like the gameplay, is full 1080p running at 60fps. Kratos’ legendary battles against the gods of Greek mythology are smoother and more satisfying than ever on PS4. In addition to offering PS4 players a chance to rip apart the Olympic pantheon in stunning detail, the Remaster also includes Photo Mode. Now players can freeze the brutal action mid-swing, play with a ton of creative camera and lighting options, and share that with fellow God of War fans. It’s been ten years since Kratos took the throne as the God of War. With the God of War III Remaster on the horizon, we are eagerly looking forward to reliving the legend and we hope you are too. For those PS4 players new to Kratos’ epic tale of betrayal and revenge, welcome. You’re in for one hell of a ride. View the full article

Bloodborne’s boss fights are dead scary, and heightening the sense of terror is the epic musical score. The ambitious music project was a globe-spanning collaboration between JAPAN Studio, From Software, and SCEA’s Product Development Services Group (PDSG), and was recorded at London’s prestigious AIR Studios. And you can now set your heart racing even when you’re not playing Bloodborne, with the score available to listen to on its own — from the punishing orchestral stabs of “Blood-starved Beast†to the soothing respite of “Hunter’s Dream.†To celebrate the CD and digital release of the Bloodborne Original Soundtrack and gain a little insight into how it was made, we spoke with Tsukasa Saitoh, Yuka Kitamura and Nobuyoshi Suzuki from the sound team at FromSoftware; composer Ryan Amon, whose previous credits include the soundtrack to Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium; and Peter Scaturro at PDSG. Congratulations on the CD and digital release of the Bloodborne Original Soundtrack! What influences and inspirations drove the style and composition of the score? Ryan Amon: Visually, there was a Victorian-Gothic crossover and just a hint of fantasy. The game developers discussed certain musical elements that they thought would represent the world of Bloodborne well, and the colors of the artwork were very influential in deciding the colors of the score for me as well. Also, Bram Stoker’s Dracula was one of my first soundtrack purchases when I was younger, and with composer Wojciech Kilar’s recent passing in 2013 I felt that it was something I wanted to pay tribute to in my own way. Tsukasa Saitoh: We drew on the keywords of “mortal struggle†and “horror†which were determined at the beginning of development, and also built up an image from things like the boss and map designs. In order to express the early-modern Victorian setting, we decided to rule out organ, woodwind instruments and certain brass instruments, such as trumpet, and so on. Rather than something grandiose, we aimed for a black and withered atmosphere. The music in Bloodborne has been highly praised for its enhancement of the game world and atmosphere. Was storytelling part of the music brief? Ryan Amon: We definitely talked about the story and why the main character is on his journey, and the fact that there is no one really holding your hand as you progress. There was a great emphasis on capturing the small intuitive details of the world, especially the loneliness and forlorn beauty of it. (L-R) Tsukasa Saitoh, Nobuyoshi Suzuki, Yuka Kitamura, Ryan Amon and Peter ScaturroEach boss battle comes with its own intense theme. How much did the design and back-story of each specific boss affect the way you composed the music? Nobuyoshi Suzuki: The design and back-story had a large effect on me. The One Reborn, whose music I was in charge of composing, is a ghastly figure of ritual mass-sacrifice, and so the feeling of horror and of something disgusting was the underlying premise, with greater themes of adornment and royalty. So I started with the simple image of using deep bass-instrument riffs to invoke a sense of royalty, and the choir to express adornment, and began composing from there. Yuka Kitamura: While composing the music for (rollover for spoiler) Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, I sensed themes of the universe, of finality, of something godly, and I was filled with visions of the end of the world as I worked on that song. What were some of the challenges of working with composers and performers on three separate continents? Peter Scaturro: Talking about music is a challenge with every project, but this one was particularly unique because the language barrier added another layer of potential misinterpretation. In this regard, the production team at JAPAN Studio was key to the success of the score. And what were some of the benefits of working in this way? Peter Scaturro: I think we all benefited from the cross-cultural exchange of ideas presented during this project. The Japanese composers brought a unique approach to the music that was very refreshing. And I think that the American composers were able to inject some of the sensibilities of a modern film score. We’re all very proud of the fusion of ideas that are presented in the Bloodborne score. Finally, the music you wrote for Bloodborne will haunt the nightmares of gamers for years to come. How do you feel about that? Tsukasa Saitoh: That’s quite an honor. My hope is that the fans will immerse themselves so fully in the world of Bloodborne that listening to the music, even when they’re not playing, will trigger lots of precious nightmares! Have you ever wanted to play video games against a celebrity? On April 16th, PlayStation Heroes winner and San Francisco Giants fan, Josh Dirk did just that. He laid claim to a gaming opportunity of a lifetime — a one-on-one, high-stakes battle of MLB 15 The Show against Los Angeles Dodger, Yasiel Puig. Dirk rocked an ear-to-ear grin as he walked in Puig’s home, where the competition took place. Dirk knew there was a chance he might lose, but didn’t care because as he put it, “he was already a winner,†and that he was. To top off this amazing event, comedian Al Madrigal kept things interesting with a hilarious play by play commentary. Check out this video to see how it all went down and who took home the win. This event was a grand slam for Josh Dirk and the PlayStation Nation. We all played a role in raising much needed funds for an amazing cause, The V Foundation for Cancer Research! Don’t forget you still have until May 19th at 1:00 PM to purchase the limited edition Koi Pond dynamic theme and register online to be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to E3, where you’ll play PS4 with Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes in a game of their choice. Even if you’re not interested in going to E3 and playing video games, you should get these themes because 90% of the proceeds benefit some great charities: Make-A-Wish, The V-Foundation, and USO. Themes can be purchased through PlayStation Store here. In addition, if you also register for the sweepstakes here — you will enter yourself for a chance to win! NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning and is not tax deductible. Game begins April 21 2015 1:00PM PST, ends May 19 2015 1:00PM PST. Must be legal resident of the US and 18+. Cannot re-purchase the same theme. Purchasers of Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum themes cannot also purchase Heroic Bundle. Limit 31 entries. Void where prohibited. Official Rules: See PARTICIPATE tab in PlayStation Heroes App or playstation.com/heroes-rules. View the full article

Hey everyone! One of the most asked questions I get as an Insomniac is, “When is Ratchet & Clank going to be made into a movie?†Today, it is with pride I get to offer an answer. Last year at E3, we gave the world a first look at the feature film debut of Ratchet & Clank and we’re back today to share some more exciting news. You may have seen the star-studded voice cast announcement this morning, but we are also thrilled to announce the Ratchet & Clank movie will be released in US theaters nationwide on April 29, 2016, with Focus Features (The Box Trolls, The Theory of Everything, Dallas Buyers Club) handling the US distribution of the film. In case you missed it, check out this impressive list of celebrity talent joining the Ratchet & Clank cast: Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek Golden Globe winner John Goodman as Ratchet’s mechanic mentor Grimroth Young Artist Award winner Bella Thorne as Galactic Ranger Cora Rosario Dawson as Galactic Ranger support team member Elaris Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion, Chairman Drek’s villainous lieutenant Rest assured the voices you’ve come to love for Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious and Captain Qwark will also be back, voiced by the same actors as in the games. Observant fans may also spot a few special cameos throughout the film. As you can imagine, when Insomniac learned we had a real shot to bring Ratchet & Clank to the big screen, we jumped in enthusiastically to help ensure the most authentic and high-quality production. We collaborated extensively on original script development with former Ratchet & Clank scribe TJ Fixman, and character design and creation with Insomniac veteran artist Dave Guertin (responsible for Ratchet and Clank’s original design) and Greg Baldwin (responsible for character, weapon, and vehicle designs too numerous to mention). Insomniac animation guru David Hancock assisted with animation consulting, and North Carolina studio director and Ratchet & Clank “OG†Chad Dezern participated in lighting reviews. The fearless Chris Carter and the inimitable Brian DiLucente helped with asset sharing across production studios, and I’ve been lucky enough to ride shotgun the whole way. Insomniac Games is also hard at work at Ratchet & Clank for the PS4, a re-imagination of the original game that started it all 13 years ago. The game, out Spring 2016, re-tells the origin story that ties in closely and expands upon the movie’s narrative. It also features several new levels along with reimagined classic locales like Metropolis, brand new weapons and completely redone visuals made possible by the power of the PlayStation 4. We’ll be sharing more on the game soon! While you might have to wait a bit longer than expected, rest assured we’re using the time wisely to further polish the game to a spit-shine level, with dazzling shader response, awe-inspiring effects, velvety smooth animations, and spectacular new gameplay segments. Really, we can’t wait to show it to you. Even though the game and film won’t launch for a bit, you’ll see news about them crop up throughout the year. Stay tuned! View the full article

So, if you’re a big time Road to the Show player, keep on grinding and working your way up to the majors, as you’ll still be slowly building your Diamond Dynasty team along the way! Play Diamond Dynasty GamesPlaying Diamond Dynasty games is the fastest way to acquire players and items. For veterans of the mode and for anyone who’s looking to build their team the fastest, playing Diamond Dynasty games provides the best return on your investment. You’re GUARANTEED an item at the end of every Diamond Dynasty game (vs CPU, Head to Head, and Extra Innings) win or lose. On top of the item you receive at the end of your game, you still have the ability to earn Universal Rewards in Diamond Dynasty mode. Basically, you’ll acquire items at roughly double the rate when playing Diamond Dynasty games. The Community MarketplaceThis is my personal favorite way to acquire players and one of the more popular methods in the office, as this is one of the most unique aspects of Diamond Dynasty. Our community marketplace is driven entirely by the community! If someone wants to buy or sell a player or item they’ve found, this is the place to do it. Additionally, if you’re feeling savvy enough, you can build entire teams through the marketplace by selling players or items and using Stubs to purchase other players and/or packs. For all of you newcomers or veterans who have scoffed at the idea of using the marketplace, or maybe you simply haven’t had a chance to use it yet, we’ve got a couple of tips below so you can maximize profit: 1.) Buy Low. Sell High. With every roster update, we update dozens of players’ attributes and overalls based on their current real life performances. This means that you can potentially buy a player for a lower amount prior to an attribute update, and then flip him to make some extra Stubs. Conversely, if you think a player may end up receiving an attribute downgrade, you may want to think about selling him quickly, while his value is still high. An even savvier move could be to keep an eye on players that may move up in rarity tier; a silver player moving up to gold could result in a nice payday. This never ending fluctuation of players and their attributes will keep many of us playing the marketplace deep into the MLB season. 2.) New Stock In addition to attribute updates, our roster updates also add new players into Diamond Dynasty. Which means that “Top 50″ prospect that just got called up to the majors will also now show up in Universal Reward drops, packs, and on the marketplace. 3.) One Man’s Trash, Another Man’s Treasure Sometimes that thing you have, that you don’t like, has some value to it. Remember to check out all of the players in your collection and all of the items in your inventory on the marketplace — you might be surprised at how many Stubs you can put together just by getting rid of the things you don’t care about. 4.) Patience, Young Grasshopper See something on the marketplace you really want, but don’t want to pay that price? Have something that you really want to sell, but you think it’s worth more than the current sell now offer? Custom buy and sell orders allow you to set the price you’d like to buy or sell something for. Once someone else in the community is willing to buy your item or sell their item, your order will be automatically fulfilled. Collections and LegendsWhen thinking about building the team of your dreams, you’re probably going to have some nostalgic thoughts about your favorite player — or players — from yesteryear. You can acquire any of the 30 legends we have in MLB 15 The Show through Universal Reward drops, packs, marketplace, and in our collections. Completing a team’s collection will give you access to that team’s respective legend player. Collection building is intertwined with many of the aforementioned features (like the marketplace), and it allows you to target a specific player. The following tips will help you in your collecting endeavors: 1.) Unlocking the Legend To unlock a legend from a collection, all you need to do is collect all of the players whose overall ratings are lower than the legend you’re pursuing. For example, using the Colorado Rockies collection, you must collect all of the players below an 85 overall in order to claim Dante Bichette, whose overall ranking is 85. However, if you’ve managed to collect any of the players above the legend, you can use them as supplements for any of the players you may be missing below the legend. Again, using the Colorado Rockies as an example, if you had Nolan Arenado and every other player below an 85 overall except for Rafael Betancourt, you could still complete the collection. Additionally, a progress bar displayed in the top right portion of the screen can help you gauge how close you are towards completing any given collection. As a side note: in order to claim the legend, all of the players you’re using to complete the collection will become unsellable, so keep that in mind when deciding whether or not to complete a collection. 2.) Collections are Dynamic With every roster update, every collection has the potential to change. In addition to attribute and overall updates that may impact the difficulty of a collection (e.g. players moving above or below the legend in overall), trades can also reshape entire collections. Using a real life example, the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves have already had their collections updated this year. Craig Kimbrel and Melvin Upton Jr became a part of the San Diego Padres collection, and Cameron Maybin became a part of the Atlanta Braves collection. With every real life move, and with every real life hot/cold streak, collections will dynamically adjust over the course of the MLB season. CustomizationCustomization is a huge part of Diamond Dynasty, and it’s one of the most intimidating features on the surface. Fear not, as we’re here to help you get your custom team on its way: 1.) It’s all in the Details One of the first things we like to do when creating a fresh team in Diamond Dynasty is to set up and customize the team’s appearance. For some, this can mean spending hours upon hours tweaking every little nuance from pinstripes on the uniforms to getting that home cap logo just right. Fortunately, though, most of our customization tools can be easily used in a matter of minutes. From the main menu, select the ‘Customize’ tile and start out by editing the options in the ‘Team Name and Details section.’ This will allow you to setup some basic stuff like your three primary colors. Afterwards, check out the ‘Home/Away Uniform’ selections. You can setup and customize all of the details for your home and away uniforms. Customizing your team’s appearance will give your team a unique look that sets you apart from the rest. 2.) Custom Logos Our logo editor allows you to make pretty much anything — your own creativity is the limit. There are already an astonishing number of incredible custom logos out there that you guys have created. However, if you’re not really interested in spending the time to make a really nice logo, you can always grab a custom logo that was made by another community member via our Logo Vault. All of these selections and customization options are available from the ‘Customize’ tile in the main menu of Diamond Dynasty. Our team’s invested thousands of hours trying to build the dynasties of our dreams, but we’re blown away with the resourcefulness and ingenuity we’ve seen from the community over the past few months. If you have any more tips and tricks to add to our Diamond Dynasty guide, please add your suggestions in the comments section below! View the full article

It’s about that time again… PlayStation Store top sellers time! Mortal Kombat X decimated the opposition in April, debuting at numero uno on the PS4 chart, with Bloodborne and MLB 15 The Show showing some strong momentum to round out the top three. Indie sensation (and Spring Fever 2015’s grand finale) Shovel Knight took over the PS Vita chart — and it did pretty well on PS4, too! Hello everyone! This is Teemu from Frogmind, back here on PlayStation.Blog to share the latest news about Badland: Game of the Year Edition. It will be out on PlayStation Store May 26th! Just two weeks from now. And it comes with lots of content, local multiplayer awesomeness, Trophies, and it’s cross buy and cross save between the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita versions. Bonus: there’s a launch sale! For the uninitiated, Badland is a multi-award winning, stunningly atmospheric, physics-based, side-scrolling action adventure, originally released as a console-quality tablet game in 2013. You play as a flying creature called Clony and explore a beautiful forest filled with imaginative traps, puzzles and obstacles. You use a variety of power-ups, the coolest one being a cloning power-up where you end up controlling dozens of the creatures at the same time and usually need to sacrifice some of them for the rest to survive. Badland: Game of the Year Edition builds on the original game’s strengths with completely redesigned controls, perfect for PlayStation. The redesigned gameplay expands the original one by offering full control over your character. All the levels have been rebuilt for the new controls of the PlayStation versions and have been visually enhanced. The new edition features over 15 hours and 100 levels of single-player story content, 100 co-op and 27 multiplayer deathmatch stages for up-to-four-person local multiplayer modes. The game looks stunning in full HD and the multiplayer gameplay has been praised everywhere we have shown it. The co-op mode works well even for players of different skill levels: as long as one player survives, he’ll be able to resurrect the others at the next cloning power-up. We believe that the game delivers one of the best local multiplayer experiences on the platform. With cross buy, you can get the game for all three platforms. And when playing online, your progress will be saved to the cloud. So when you break out your Vita on your morning commute, you can pick up right where you left off and continue on your PS4 or PS3 when you get back. There’ll also be Leaderboards shared across all three platforms to compare stats and records with friends and foes alike. Check out the nature documentary trailer about the life of the Clones above and see if you can recognize the narrator’s voice… Thanks so much for reading! We can’t wait for everyone to start saving those Clones on May 26th! Oh and one last thing, the PS versions have been made in a three-way co-operation with two other indie studios, Blitworks and Frozenbyte. We can’t thank them enough for the amazing job they have done with us! Everyone has been going the extra mile for shipping awesome quality only. Happy to answer any questions in the comments below! PSBlog Feed: Color Guardians on PS4, PS Vita Today
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
Today is a proud day for Fair Play Labs: we’ve released our first PS4 and PS Vita game! Color Guardians is out today on the PlayStation Store after months of hard work, designing, polishing, testing, and – of course – playing. The time has just flown by; it seems like just the other day we picked Color Guardians as the best title from our studio’s game jam, and now it’s all done, running on the PS4 where everything about it can really shine. See for yourself! At the risk of getting overly sentimental, this is a big moment for us. We’ve aspired to releasing a game on console for almost 10 years now, and it hasn’t been easy to do. You may not realize it, but here in Costa Rica, it’s been hard to share our games with big publishers because not a lot of developers have been working here until relatively recently. A lot of publishers ask you how many games you’ve already released before they want to work with you – but how can you publish your first console game if you have to have published a console game before your first console game? PlayStation has changed that for all of us here in Latin America. Thanks to their great support programs for new indies in new places, we’ve been able to work on games for PSP, and now with Color Guardians, for PS4 and PS Vita. PlayStation’s Latin American development program has not only allowed us to finally release our first console game, but has introduced us to a lot of other great developers from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and more! We’re proud to be part of this new group of developers bringing you games from Latin America, and we’re grateful to the PlayStation community for helping it happen. You spoke up in support of indies, and you told us what you thought about our game at PlayStation Experience, and now we’ve finally achieved a goal we’ve been working towards for almost a decade. As of today, we can finally share Color Guardians with gamers all over the world. Of course, we’ve done our part to provide everything we can for PS4 and PS Vita players, including cross-buy support and a Platinum Trophy (if you think you can earn it!). We can’t wait to see how everyone fares on the leaderboards with the Guardians, and we’re eager to hear how you’re enjoying your adventures with Rod, Lia, and Grock. Thanks to all of you, and here’s looking forward to more great games from Costa Rica and indie studios everywhere. Play Fair, everyone! View the full article -
Honored HELLDIVERS, With your help and determination the first Galactic War was won, then the enemies of freedom retaliated and we were forced to find a new home. New Super-Earth is safe… for now. But how can we stand by while so many still suffer under the burden of independence, outside the democracy and justice that Super-Earth brings? So today we announce a new expansion in the war against terror, because freedom has no bounds. TURNING UP THE HEAT EXPANSIONHELLDIVERS: Turning Up The Heat is a free content update for HELLDIVERS accompanied by the release of the Reinforcements 2 DLC. HELLDIVERS | PlayStation.com FREE EXPANSION FEATURES: Increased rank cap from 25 to 27 New Trophies New environment: Volcanic planets, full of dangers. New Bug enemy: The Bug Impaler. New Cyborg enemy: The Cyborg Hound. New Illuminate enemy: The Illuminate Obelisk. Three new objective types: Repair and Fire Artillery, Disarm Unexploded Ordnance, and Geological Survey. New customization outfit: The Volcanic Camouflage set. New perk: Strong Arm, allowing you to throw further. To celebrate the release of the expansion, we are releasing the HELLDIVERS: TURNING UP THE HEAT EDITION Bundle for $19.99 – This bundle includes: HELLDIVERS Game plus the new SPECIALIST PACK including the Specialist Uniform (helmet, armor and cape), LAS-12 ‘Tanto’ ultra compact laser SMG, and the Close Air Support powerful strafing run Stratagem. Available for a limited time only. MORE REINFORCEMENTSIn addition to the free content of TURNING UP THE HEAT, HELLDIVERS also adds 4 more Reinforcement Packs for those in need of EVEN MORE DEMOCRACY. Each Pack is available separately for $2.99 and the DEMOLITIONIST, HAZARD OPS and PILOT Packs are available together in the REINFORCEMENTS PACK 2 for $5.99. SPECIALIST PACK HELLDIVER Specialists are highly trained offensive support operatives. They specialize in the use of Stratagems and supportive fire. They are specially trained to receive enhanced air support. The Specialist Uniform (Helmet, Armor, and Cape). LAS-12 ‘Tanto': An ultra-compact laser SMG with extremely limited range. The short focused beam is very powerful to compensate for the short engagement envelope. Close Air Support: An ‘Eagle’ delivers a powerful strafing run followed by a pair of anti tank missiles. Effective at damaging almost all targets it does however have the drawback of being slightly unpredictable. DEMOLITIONIST PACK HELLDIVER Demolitionists are experts at tearing things down and blowing things up. They are rumored to be careless when handling explosives, though this is most likely just their familiarity with explosives being misinterpreted. The Demolitionist Uniform (Helmet, Armor, and Cape). MG-105 ‘Stalwart': A light machinegun based on the AR-19 ‘Liberator’. It’s very powerful when used in sustained fire, but the initial recoil is often hard to handle resulting in unpredictable spread. REC-6 ‘Demolisher': A remote Explosive Charge capable of destroying both objectives and heavily armored enemies. The user can decide when to detonate the charge by pressing the detonator. Often referred to as a Satchel Charge. HAZARD OPS PACK The Hazard Operative HELLDIVERS are trained in chemical and biological combat and protection. Sometimes shunned by fellow HELLDIVERS for their use of inhumane warfare, many a Helldiver is happy to have them on the mission when it comes down to life or death. It’s not like the enemy is Human after all. The Hazard Ops Uniform (Helmet, Armor, and Cape). AR-14D ‘Paragon': A heavy semi-automatic rifle firing rounds similar to the AR-20L ‘Justice’, but without the penetrating capabilities. Instead the rounds are hollowed out and filled with a neurotoxin causing targets hit to become slow and sluggish. TOX-13 ‘Avenger': A high-pressure liquid projection weapon similar to the FLAM-40 ‘Incinerator’. Instead of projecting flaming napalm, this weapon sprays a very potent neurotoxin resulting in slow movements and irreversible brain damage. PILOT PACK The Pilot HELLDIVER is specially trained to operate the wide arsenal of vehicles available to the HELLDIVER troops. Especially trained in the use of the EXO-48 ‘Obsidian’ Exosuit, Pilots are some of the few that are given the honor of using this heavily armed monster. Though they prefer to use vehicles, they are still HELLDIVERS and very formidable troops on foot. The Pilot Uniform (Helmet, Armor, and Cape). AC-5 Arc Shotgun: A further development of the Arc technology, the AC-5 fires a wide, short range cone and damages everything covered by the static discharge. The charge up is much faster than the original Arc Thrower but the discharge is not quite as powerful. EXO-48 ‘Obsidian': A powerful exosuit with two double autocannons. The firepower contained in this walking monstrosity annihilates light and medium infantry, and the two magazines allows for both maximum firepower or conserving ammunition. The only downside to this mech is its distinct lack of anti-tank capabilities. The liberty we enjoy today we owe to the heroic HELLDIVERS that have fought relentlessly in the wars so far: 9.5 BILLION Shots fired by the HELLDIVERS (Avg. Accuracy 38%) 1.04 BILLION Enemies of SUPER-EARTH neutralized (killed) 7.6 MILLION Missions Played 1.4 MILLION Planets liberated 19 MILLION HELLDIVER Deaths 2 MILLION Trophies awarded (100k HELLDIVERS have earned the Cape Spinning DANCING QUEEN trophy) Now we need to join them as together we march into HELL! REMEMBER — FREEDOM HAS NO BOUNDS Get out there soldier! And fight #ForSuperEarth View the full article

We all have a game or two we can always go back to. No matter how many times we’ve beaten it, done all the sidequests, or maybe even gotten that Platinum trophy, there’s just something satisfying about a world, a character, a battle, or something you can’t quite put your finger on that keeps you coming back. For me, and for many, Final Fantasy X is one of those games. It’s a game we call home. Today we’re launching the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on PS4 to give Spira one more home of its own. We released the PS3 and PS Vita versions just last year – and if you enjoyed it, and you still have it accessible should you want to go back, that’s fantastic. With the PS4 version, we’ve made sure that no matter what Sony platform you own, no matter where you play, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 will be there, in one awesome HD package. All three versions even share the same save data, so if you ever need to change consoles, you can bring your game with you. After you’ve dropped as many hours as I have into this game, (250+!!) that’s hopefully something you’ll appreciate! We also gave you the ability to switch between the remastered and classic tracks for Final Fantasy X, because we KNOW that’s something you wanted. When my counterpart in Europe and I initially sat down to discuss what kind of trailer we’d drop today, we were actually kind of stumped. The game’s biggest fans know it like the back of their hand, and we didn’t want to rehash any old ground. So we settled on this pretty unique approach, entitled, Lessons from Spira. Final Fantasy X taught us a lot of things, informed some of the ways we look at games even now. This collection of “lessons,†brought to you by Tidus, Yuna, and her stalwart crew of Guardians, hopefully takes you back to some of the ways Final Fantasy X made an impact on you. Have a look. We even pulled in some shots from the charity art show event we held last year – seeing that filled out wall with all the stories from the game’s fans… It was a sight to behold for me. The last thing I wanted to mention is that in honor of Final Fantasy X, we’re also releasing a brand new PS4 dynamic theme today on the PlayStation Store for $3.49, entitled, “To Zanarkand.†You can now style your PS4 into that iconic opening scene from the game. On the lower screen, Yuna and her Guardians are chilling around the campfire, and on the upper screen, there’s Tidus gazing out at the pyreflies in the distance. Oh, and your system music will of course change to “To Zanarkand.†I put this on the console in the marketing room, and let me tell you, meetings have never been so poignant. Haha. I kid. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is available now at Amazon.com and other fine retailers for $49.99. For those coming back for a second visit, for those continuing on, and for those who have never been – Spira awaits. View the full article

After a year of work, I am excited to announce my next game — Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Fans have asked us for a new exploration-heavy, Igavania-type game, and that’s the game we’re excited to make. I have interest from investors who can provide most of the funds necessary to make the game I envision, but they have requested proof that there is demand for this type of game before they will commit. With that in mind, I am turning to Kickstarter to call upon my fans’ support. You can pledge to the campaign at http://igavania.com Miriam, the protagonist, is an 18-year-old orphan whose skin is slowly crystallizing in stained-glass patterns, a curse inflicted on her by a corrupt guild of alchemists. The alchemists’ curse is transforming her into the conduit for a demonic invasion — the guild’s punishment for a world that has begun to lose faith in them. Her friend Johannes, a rogue alchemist who is studying the curse, has learned to slow the spread of the crystallization by drawing runes around the infection sites. With his help, Miriam will explore a massive, demon-filled castle in search of Gebel, her friend and fellow curse bearer who destroyed the alchemists and summoned the castle when he realized the curse had made him something other than human. The cursed crystals in Miriam and Gebel’s skin are linked to demonic magical powers. With that in mind, I intend to equip this game with many classic gameplay elements as well as a slew of new ones, including a crafting system that will allow players to infuse weapons with magical abilities and a unique skill/parameter system. I’m glad for the opportunity to make this game, and I thank all the fans who will help us do that. I look forward to leading you in my army of the night! View the full article

We just announced ARK: Survival Evolved and I’m here to tell you how excited we are about bringing this experience to PS4 and Project Morpheus. From the earliest stages of our development we knew we had an opportunity to create a game that pushes next-gen gameplay experiences in addition to providing awesome visuals. The result is that the world of ARK and its inhabitants feel like a real place that you can walk through, explore, and truly experience in your own way. The PS4’s powerful hardware has allowed us to bring a scale and scope to the game that wasn’t previously possible in the console space. We’re shooting for the moon with this one, a fully persistent game world, tens of thousands of AI entities, totally destructible foliage and environment, and multiplayer on a huge scale. And yeah, we’ve got dinosaurs. Dinosaurs that you can ride! At release, we’re shooting for about 60 distinct species, and we don’t plan to just have them just wandering around as cannon fodder. All creatures in ARK have their own living ecosystems, predator hierarchies, and an autonomy that exists outside of the players’ influences. Their interactions with each other intertwine with the way that players might use them, because almost every one of our creatures will be able to be tamed and used for peace or for war. The PS4 has the horsepower to pull this off, so we’re really excited to be finally bringing these kinds of next-generation gameplay experiences to consoles. We didn’t stop there, though, because what’s better than experiencing all of this as if you were really there? After working for almost three years pioneering and creating high-end experiences for HMDs, I can tell you with good confidence that not much compares to soaring over the jungles and mountains of ARK’s islands on the back of your very own pteranodon. The feeling of immersion the team has created in this beautiful world simply has to be experienced first-hand; it is profound and impactful, and even for me was a little bit surprising when I first tried ARK in VR. When you design an experience like this, one of the most important things is to not fall into the trap of focusing on one platform and type of input while letting the chips fall where they may on the rest. Just like a mouse versus a gamepad, you have to design with VR in mind from the beginning. All of your testing, all of your gameplay elements, they need to tie into the experience of wearing a VR headset, the different FOV, the perception of motion and presence that exists between looking at a flat computer screen and virtually “being there.†In the end we don’t just “allow†for VR, we recommend it — and ARK will be a richer game because of it. Hello everyone! Ben Strauss here with Gun Media here to tell you guys that we have some awesome news! Breach & Clear is coming to PS Vita tomorrow, May 12th! Breach & Clear has been a labor of love with Gun and developer Mighty Rabbit. Across more than two years, we’ve taken this title from its humble beginnings to a powerhouse with 1.3 million users across multiple platforms. Today we’re happy to finally marry the completed version of the game to our original touch-control design to the awesome PS Vita. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re happy to announce that you’ll finally get to check out this awesome hybrid tactical strategy title on the PlayStation Store! Breach & Clear allows you to control a wide variety of special operations teams from around the world, outfitting them with a huge variety of guns, attachments and gear to your exact specification. Each and every situation you’ll run into is different as you traverse the globe, taking on bad guys in locations like Russia, Mexico, Germany and several other locations. We’ve had a blast working on this game, and we’re stoked to bring it to PS Vita! For $14.99, you’ll get: Seven locations with five missions each and five difficulty settings to challenge you at every turn Three unique game modes: Terrorist Hunt, Bomb Defusal and Escape Plan Seven special operations teams from around the world with six different classes, all with their own perks and abilities 24 weapons with 26 attachments to give you the edge 56 clothing and armor customization options to make each operator your own Four game-altering consumables to give you an edge against increasingly tough enemies Breach & Clear started as a small mobile title with less than half the content on this PS Vita release, and we’ve worked our butts off to make this as good a game as we can make it. The fans around this game have been stellar, and we can’t wait to hear from everyone in the Vita community! This is definitely a long time coming for the best control possible. Get ready to Own. Every. Angle! View the full article

The pressure is on: we’re wrapping up Volume for launch on PS4 and PS Vita in late summer. An official launch date announcement is coming at E3 (shhh, secrets!), but I wanted to show readers here at PlayStation.Blog Volume’s level editor. It’s a huge experiment for me as an independent creator, and for all of us as a small team. Volume gives players the ability to build and share levels, utilising all the props found in the game. Yes, all of them. Every gadget, gizmo, enemy type, environmental trap, wall design and colour palette can be used for your own creations. It’s a big part of the game that I hope players will get into. We’ve tried to make the process and tools simple. Easily create a level. Upload it to our server. And bask in the glory and praise of peers with a highly rated map! Top-rated maps will bubble up in our online community list. It will be easy to select a specific level and hop right in. Or you can create a customisable playlist made from a mix of player-created and campaign levels. Although we spent a lot of time making the game’s levels, players can actually go through the entire campaign using their own – or other people’s – creations. Want to hear the story in Volume again but use different maps? Done! Andy Serkis is very good as the game’s villain, so why not listen to him again while playing Volume using the best maps the community have managed to make! We’re excited to see what you make with the level editor tools. We made 100 levels using this editor, so we can’t wait to see the first 1,000 you make. Hopefully, with your help, we can pump up the Volume! View the full article
