Hi PlayStation.Blog readers! Let me introduce you to the cutest and deadliest creatures in the world! Meet the krinkles! Krinkle Krusher is an action castle defense where you cast elemental spells to defend your kingdom from funny creatures called Krinkles. After several generations of peace, they happen to come back exactly when the Ancient Tree bears its first fruits in centuries. Naturally, a cake was made from it. Don’t be fooled by their cute looks; the Krinkles are insatiable and will devour anything in their path! To defend your peaceful kingdom, you will take the role of the enchanted glove of the mighty Wizard. By making simple gestures you can cast powerful elemental spells to zap, freeze or even set the invaders on fire. However, being a talking magic glove is not an easy task! You must decide quickly where to cast your spells, exploit your foes weaknesses, and always keep enough mana for eventual surprises. I am sure you will enjoy the several combos and different strategies we are preparing for you. Now, let’s talk a bit about the Krinkles. They come in various types, and some of them are craftier than the others. The elemental ones can eat through your spells, while others will dig tunnels in an attempt to launch a direct attack. There are also the big ones: the Krinkle bosses will require unique strategies to be defeated. However, we can’t blame them — everyone likes cake, right? As you play, you will learn more about the Krinkles’ mysterious origin, motivations and weaknesses. You will journey to the edges of the kingdom, facing them at any time of the day and in different environments, resulting in challenging battlefield conditions. Fortunately, your arsenal will grow as you collect new spells, items and upgrades. Prepare to keep your kingdom safe and have your piece of cake! Krinkle Krusher will be released for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in February. Stay tuned for more updates! View the full article

The first thing we have to say is “thank you” to every single fan of The Banner Saga who has helped raise the profile of the game and has supported the Stoic team from the start. Your passion for The Banner Saga and the way you have helped spread the word has been instrumental in the decision to bring this amazing and unique game experience to PS4. We’re also excited and honored to have PlayStation announce that the game is also coming to PS Vita at the recent PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas this past weekend. Our friends and partners in crime at Stoic (who just announced The Banner Saga 2 at the Game Awards in Las Vegas last Friday) are some of the nicest, most talented, and dedicated game makers you’ll ever meet, and we couldn’t be happier for them. The team at Stoic took some time out of their busy schedules to tell you a bit more about the Vita version below. Being able to bring The Banner Saga to Vita is especially exciting since the fans have been asking for it for a long time, and it’s a natural fit for the game as well as Vita. The Banner Saga is often described as like reading a good book, because players often get engaged in the story and have a hard time putting it down. Vita will allow players to continue their journey when they leave their homes. Stoic initially designed the UI and the gameplay with the idea of mobile devices in mind, and the Vita is no exception as the gameplay, UI, and design all work extremely well on the platform. The idea of holding The Banner Saga in your hands and utilizing both the Vita’s controls and its touch surfaces while being able to move about freely in the real world is something we’re really keen on developing and seeing in action in 2015. Another thing that’s exciting for us is to bring that old-school style of gaming back to the modern age. We’re big fans of games such as Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics, and The Banner Saga was heavily influenced by how those games operated. We wouldn’t be here without those great games that really proved handheld tactics games had an audience and a right to be there. We really love the idea of being handheld and paying homage to those classic, turn-based tactic games of the past in addition to hopefully giving gamers a new take on the genre with our own game. The award-winning art combined with the excellent story of The Banner Saga creates a wonderful world that we have seen capture people’s hearts and we hope to continue that on PS4 and PS Vita in 2015. Finally, we’ve got a lot of big things coming down the road for The Banner Saga and we hope you continue to interact with us via Facebook and Twitter. We really can’t thank you enough for all your valuable feedback. That’s it for now, but we’ll be back soon! Happy holidays from Stoic and Versus Evil! View the full article

Good evening, PlayStation.Blog! It’s a little later than we usually post, but we wanted to bring you this bit of news as soon as it broke. Today, er, tonight, we’re happy to announce that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is getting its very own Collector’s Edition. Available in limited quantities, you can lock in your order on this premium collection of cool stuff tonight, for $99.99. Ah, but what’s in it, you ask? Well, in industry circles, we call the image below a “beauty shot,” and with good reason! Look upon its majesty. Let’s discuss what you’re seeing, shall we? We’ll start with the golden Steel Book case, featuring what I personally think is one of long-time Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano’s finest pieces — the goddesses of Orience. On the inside is the Japanese kanji for the game title: 零, or “Rei,” meaning “zero,” and å¼, or “shiki,” meaning “type.” We know you guys appreciate authenticity. The Steel Book holds both the game disc and a 15-track collection of songs hand-picked by the game’s composer, Takeharu Ishimoto. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, he also did the score for Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, among others. He’s one of my favorite composers in the business right now, and Type-0’s soundtrack is stellar. Let’s move over to the books. A 200 page manga that takes place alongside that super emotional opening of Type-0, giving you deeper insight into the characters, and next to that, an 80 page art book, featuring the art of some of our most talented artists who worked on this title. The foreword is even written by the game’s director, Hajime Tabata. Last but not least, five life-size replicas of the iconic cards you’ve seen Ace holding in all our promotional materials. The fronts feature illustrations of the Type-0 Eidolons: Odin, Ifrit, Shiva, Diabolos, and naturally, Bahamut. If all this stuff wasn’t enough, we’ve even got some neat incentives for you to pre-order this from us at Square Enix — you’ll automatically be entered into a sweepstakes where you could win a Final Fantasy Type-0 custom PS4, an art canvas of Ace, a Vermilion Bird lapel pin that retails for $200… and a whole bunch of runner up prizes, too. And finally — getting the Collector’s Edition will guarantee your access to the Final Fantasy XV -Episode Duscae- demo. We’ve gotten a lot of questions about this demo, so while I’m here, I’ll drop some knowledge on that too. First, as Tabata-san said in a recent episode of Square Enix Presents, this demo is exclusive to Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. We’re never going to release it as a stand-alone piece down the line. Secondly, it’s intended to be a special gift for those of you who purchase early — the demo will be limited to the “Day One” edition of the game, meaning that only the first shipment is going to have the demo in it. So if the demo is something you think you might like, we highly encourage you to pre-order or to be quick about getting to the store on launch day, March 17th, 2015. I’ll close with one more announcement — On January 23rd at 10:00AM Pacific, Tabata-san himself is going to be doing a Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Reddit AMA. You guys here on PlayStation.Blog have had a lot of great questions that only someone from our development staff would be able to answer, so I definitely want to invite you guys to participate! That said — considering you won’t have gotten a chance to play the Final Fantasy XV demo at that point, we’ll only be taking questions relating to Type-0 HD. But don’t fret! The Final Fantasy XV demo is just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to talking to you more about that when the time comes. View the full article

It’s that time again! In a debut that likely surprised nobody, Grand Theft Auto V has blasted to the top of the PlayStation Store charts for November. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Assassin’s Creed Unity filled out the top three, with Far Cry 4 and Minecraft trailing just a little further behind. PS3 is a different story, with CoD: Advanced Warfare nabbing the top spot over runner-up Minecraft. Mojang’s blocky phenomenon ruled the handheld world though, snagging the #1 spot on PS Vita — where Tales of Hearts R and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth were numbers 2 and 3 respectively. Journey over to the European PlayStation.Blog to see how each title stacked up internationally, and visit the comments to let us know what you think December’s lineup will look like. Hi! This is Jakub from Grip Games, and I have some very exciting news to share. Tower of Guns is coming to PS4 and PS3 in 2015, and we’re bringing you the first trailer. Tower of Guns is an old-school, roguelike, first-person shooter with randomized levels and enemies. It’s a pure FPS experience for the players who just want to get a big gun, shoot stuff, battle gigantic bosses, upgrade their abilities, and modify their gear. No stupid NPCs to get in the way, no ridiculous story to explain what you are doing there. You’re the good one, they are the bad ones. If you get to the end, you win. But that’s a BIG “if.” The brutal difficulty and randomized levels make sure that you’ll need to earn your right to see the top of the Tower of Guns. Each death sends you back to the first floor, but stronger and better equipped. The levels and enemies are randomly generated for each run. This means that you’ll be playing a different game every time you restart. There are over 20 weapons and countless modifications and upgrades to get. There are items to collect and perks to help you on your way. And you’ll need help, because Tower of Guns is a bullet-hell style game in the first-person view. The enemies are merciless and you’ll need to be constantly on the move, dodging bullets. Forget cover mechanics or stealth missions — instead, it’s time to re-learn strafing and double-jumping and enter each room with guns blazing. And just when you think you’re out of the worst, you’ll meet one of the game’s many huge bosses, like the Doomball or the Egg Scrambler. You will die, and you will die a lot. If that’s still not enough for you, Tower of Guns has countless secret rooms to find and rare items to get. There are even secret game modes and stages to unlock! We’re bringing Tower of Guns to PS4 and PS3 in 2015, and we have a plenty of content ready to show you before launch. View the full article

Hey, fellow berserkers! Allow me to introduce our new game Zombie Vikings on PS4. You may have played our latest game, Stick It to The Man!, which came out on PS4 and PS Vita earlier this year. Yep, it’s that insane game about mind-reading and the giant pink rubber arm. Stick It was a big success for us at Zoink, and I just want to thank all PlayStation players for all the great feedback we’ve received from you. You make all the hard work so worth it, so THANK YOU! Zoink is an indie developer operating out of dark, cold Sweden, so making a quirky game about our crazy ancestors feels just right. We love games that can be played together. Friday night, pizza, a bunch of friends on a big comfy couch and a great game… being an old-school hack ‘n’ slash, Zombie Vikings fits the bill perfectly. But we wouldn’t be Zoink if we didn’t surround the game with a stupendous and crazy story, lots of awesome voice actors, and tons of energy put into script and character design. We call it a “story brawler,” and don’t mind taking credit for inventing a new game genre. This time we’re working together with comic genious Zach Weinersmith, also known for Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal Comics. Our saga starts out with Loki snatching Odin’s one remaining magic eye right out of its socket. With Odin blind as bat and the Gods of Valhalla too busy partying, Odin makes a desperate move: he summons four of the most fearsome zombie vikings out of the Norse soil: Gunnborg, Seagurd, Hedgy, and Caw-kaa! A putrid posse on a mission through the most epic of worlds to retrieve The Eye and make peace with their own rotten pasts. The action-packed road to find Loki and The Eye will take you through some seriously strange worlds. Why not hack through the boiling gingerbread swamps of Molgaga? Or take a cruise through the intestines of the Midgaard Serpent? You will also discover the previous lives of the zombie vikings: was Caw-kaa really raised by crows? And why is there a squid living in Seagurd’s stomach? Choose among four different zombie vikings, each with his own story and special moves. We’ve aimed at finding ways to play together and cooperate using lots of different moves, and at the same time use the fun in already being dead. Yes, being dead is actually a lot of fun! Getting your head chopped off in the game doesn’t mean you die.. instead your friends can use your vomiting head as a weapon. And who can resist a good digital stab? Stabbing your friends is a key feature in Zombie Vikings! Stabbing means you can throw your zombie friends. Work together like true Scandinavians! We’re also working on a way to stitch all your zombies into one giant Mega-zombie, which you all have to control together… but more on that later! As you can see, we’re having a ton of fun developing this game, and we hope you’ll love to play it. View the full article

We had such a blast meeting so many of you at PlayStation Experience last weekend. It was a supremely packed two days of great games and thought-provoking panels. But seeing as how not everyone could make the trip to Las Vegas, we wanted to share all the memories we made at PS Experience with the world. You can watch all the panels we hosted at the conference right here. We’ve picked out just a small sample of our favorites, but head below for the full list. And thank you for being part of the PlayStation family! Virtual Reality: A New Era for Games Actors and Their Voices Bringing Nathan Drake to PS4 Story Time! Full Panel List View the full article

It’s been about a year since the launch of PS4, and we at Gaijin Entertainment are very proud that War Thunder was one of the launch titles for the system. Our game is more alive than ever with thousands of players duking it out on one cross-platform server. We thank all of our PS4 community for staying with us during this first year and want to provide some news on what’s going on in War Thunder right now. Our users can always expect a steady amount of new content on the horizon, and these holidays won’t be an exception. The main update that we’re currently working on is Steel Generals expansion, which is going to add American tanks to War Thunder. Around 30 new US vehicles will join the ground forces battles very soon, and players can expect a lot of iconic tanks such as Sherman, Chaffee, Patton and many others. In the meantime, several War Thunder Advanced packs were added to PlayStation Store in the beginning of Decеmber, so I want to talk a little about our vision for premium content. The most important foundation for us is to keep War Thunder a 100% free game. You can progress to the top-tier of research tree for each country without spending anything, but you can speed things up a little now and then. It’s a competitive multiplayer experience, so providing any combat advantage to paying users is out of question. With premium vehicles, the idea is the same — they aren’t any better than regular planes and tanks in terms of combat performance, but provide increased rates for earned Research Points and Silver Lions in each battle. And this allows you to unlock other, regular vehicles, faster. Also, premium planes and tanks usually come with a unique skin — a good example is a new Gustav Starter Pack. The plane bears the markings of Romanian Air Force, but other than that, it’s the same Messerschmitt Bf.109G-2 that is available in the game for free. Another reason for spending money on premium vehicles is a collector’s interest. There are a lot of prototypes or rare machines — like Australian planes in RAF or goofy-looking XP-50 in US Air Force. Again, they may not be better in terms of combat efficiency than regular vehicles, but you can satisfy your urge to “collect them all” by spending something extra. So, another newcomer is Scout Starter Pack, which contains German light tank Pzkfw II Ausf. H. with unusual sailcloth roof and the quite powerful 50-mm cannon. And finally, Heavy Armor Advanced pack is sort of Greatest Hits album: it includes most of the premium tanks that we released in the last six months, and it’s great gift for an avid War Thunder player for the coming holidays. If you were fortunate enough to attend the PlayStation Experience this past weekend, you may have played The Last of Us Remastered with some of our brand new Factions mode add-ons. Or maybe you attended the panel with our multiplayer team and learned about how this was developed. If you participated in our tournament in Vegas, you might be downloading this new content for free today. For those of you who didn’t make it out to PlayStation Experience, there’s a lot of fun coming your way. Here’s a look: Clearly our The Last of Us combat designer has a soft spot for a good takedown and has designed some very visceral, very lethal Special Executions across nine different weapon categories. These sets of animations are available for purchase for $0.99 each. We had to exclude some sets from the PS3 version of the game due to memory constraints on the hardware. Yes, it seems with our latest add-ons we’re squeezing every last ounce of memory the PS3 has to run our Factions mode. You can purchase our new Tactical Weapons Bundle for $2.99. In the bundle you’ll get the Tactical Shotgun, Burst Pistol, Frontier Rifle, and Crossbow. Yes, a Crossbow. These items are available for $0.99 each if you prefer to pick your arms individually. If you’re looking to avoid falling victim to some of these new executions and weapons, buy the new Risk Management Survival Skills Bundle for $3.99. In the bundle you’re getting Lone Wolf, a skill that grants you temporary survival skills when you are away from your team, Second Chance, a skill that gives you a free health kit when you have none and take more than half damage, Jack of All Trades, a skill that grants you grab-bag level 1 skills at discount, Lucky Break, a skill that allows you to get more ammo and crafting ingredients when you open supply boxes, and Lethal Efficiency, a skill that allows you to perform a faster, low-to-the-ground neck snap when performing a special execution. If you just want one of these skills, it’ll cost you $0.99. Some of you just want to look your best as you’re surviving the post-pandemic life. We have you covered as the Misfit Head Item Bundle will soothe your style itch. Get the Viking Hat, Plague Mask, Smiley Mask, Outlaw Mask, Ski Goggles, Broken Gas Mask, Ballistic Helmet and Urban Camo Helmet in the Misfit Head Item Bundle for $6.99. Aside from the bundle exclusive Plague mask, you can buy these items individually for various prices. Rounding out the content drop are our two new Gestures bundles. You’ll get Dust Myself Off, Evil Laugh, Game Over, and Intimidation in Gestures Pack 2. Gestures Pack 3 features You’re Done, Combat Formation, Stretch, and I’m Watching You. Both packs are available for $2.49 or you can buy individual gestures for $0.99. All this fantastic content will be available when the PlayStation Store updates in your region. Fire up The Last of Us or The Last of Us Remastered and have some post-pandemic, holiday fun this December. View the full article

Hello! Two weeks after launching Aqua Kitty DX on PS4 and PS Vita, we have another title pumped full of retro nostalgia — although this time it goes beyond the 16-bit era, all the way back to 8-bit days! Rock Boshers DX: Director’s Cut will arrive on PS4 and PS Vita today, with cross buy and cross save support. What’s the Story? A young Queen Victoria, bored and looking for adventure, dresses up incognito and sneaks onto a transport shell headed to Mars. But oh no! Upon landing, all the travellers are rounded up and put to work deep underground in the Martian mines. Why? How? Who is behind this dastardly plot? Victoria must battle her way across Mars, and attempt to find a way home whilst collecting special food items as she goes. Did Someone Say “Scones?” Yes! Tea, Cheese, and Jammy Scones, the 3 most important foods for survival, are spread about each level, sometimes hidden and at other times VERY well hidden. Good hunting is rewarded, of course, unlocking mini arcade games. Action Ahoy A small, twin stick adventure shooter, Rock Boshers DX mixes top-down and side-on perspectives on different levels. Battling across the planet, you’ll encounter all manner of enemies and sometimes extra weapons such as Coal Rockets or Steam Lasers to help you on your journey. Such Color, Such Beauty! With supremely authentic, hand-drawn, retro pixel art, each level is created from a mind-boggling palette of 15 colors. There’s even a screen zoom function to further immerse yourself in the chunky pixel goodness. Mini Arcade Games Beyond the main game, unlocking the arcade gives you access to four different arcade style games: CHEESE DREAMS sees you chasing down a giant lump of Cheddar. AQUA KITTY is a mini spinoff from the DX version, where you must protect a milk pipeline. GHOST PYRAMID places you in the shadow of some ancient Martian pyramid as you dash to collect gems. And finally BOSHTEROIDS lets you take to the stars in your very own spaceship. PS4 Battle Mode Have more than one PS4 controller? Great, the PS4 version has an exclusive four-player local battle mode. Play as Victoria, Darwin, Ada Lovelace, or Lewis Carrol and duke it out in a range of different fighting arenas. Historical Accuracy So in summary, you get to play through a small chunk of 100% accurate history from an alternate universe, as well as both PS4 and PS Vita versions, for one low price! There are Trophies to earn, leaderboards to compete on, and a cross save function to let you easily switch between platforms. We’re pretty excited to launch our second PSN title in as many weeks. That’s all for now — if you have any questions, please pop them into the comments below. View the full article

Spider-Man’s symbiotic nemesis gets his own pinball table! Our latest creation based on a Marvel Comics property stars Spider-Man’s archenemy, Venom. Venom pinball launches today for Zen Pinball 2 for $2.99! Purchase the table on PS3 or Vita first, then import to PS4 to enjoy on all three platforms! As Eddie Brock’s journalism career spiraled downward, he always blamed Spider-Man for his own failure. A symbiotic organism from an alien world sensed his rage, and having itself been rejected by Spidey before, shared his hatred of the web-head. Thus, the Symbiote chose Brock as its next host, and together they are Venom. The Venom pinball table features Eddie Brock as the Symbiote-empowered villain as he faces not just his mortal enemy, Spider-Man, but also the threat of his twisted offspring, Carnage. Can Venom and Spider-Man team up to defeat a greater threat? View the full article

Batman: Arkham Knight A dazzling new look at Arkham Knight, which is just about more gorgeous by the day. Plus: a first glimpse of the PlayStation-exclusive Scarecrow Nightmare missions. Super Time Force Ultra You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a special PlayStation guest character blasting dinosaurs with emoticons and hashtags. Seriously. MLB 15 The Show This year’s new features include heightened player emotions and licensed gear, plus the ability to port your 2014 progress to the 2015 season. The Forest As the lone survivor of a plane crash, players will need to fend off a clan of mutants and build simple structures in order to survive. Definitely on our radar. Killing Floor 2 This impossibly violent co-op-focused shooter pits players against hordes of grotesque creatures amidst stomach-churning, realistic gore effects. Not for the faint of heart! The Order: 1886 Set in a tense shootout against rebel forces, this new footage shows off the triple-barreled Coach Gun for the first time. Kablammo! Drawn to Death David Jaffe’s back with a brand new bag: a blood-soaked multiplayer shooter set inside the notebook of a creative and foul-mouthed teenager. More info on the official site. Gang Beasts Gelatinous brawlers clobber, hurl, and shove each other around hazardous environments in this hysterical competitive PS4 game. Fat Princess Adventures Santa Monica Studios and developer Fun Bits bring the portly princess back for a new take on an old classic. Bastion The hit action-RPG from developer Supergiant Games is making the leap to PS4! If you gorged on Transistor, you’ll definitely want to see this. Skytorn This one has my attention in the biggest way possible, from the art style to the music. Just hook it directly to my veins! Bonus: The Game Awards Trailers Bloodborne From Software can do no wrong in my book. More details on the official site. King’s Quest Speaking as an fan of the original King’s Quest series, I can’t wait to try out this modern update from developer The Odd Gentlemen. View the full article

At Supermassive we are thrilled about the reaction to the announcement a few months ago of Until Dawn as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. I can only say we are humbled by the support Until Dawn has been receiving at PSX this weekend. Thank you to everyone who has been able to come out and see us. Those of you lucky enough to make it out have played a previously unseen section of the game. We follow Sam as she races away from an intruder through the house and into the old basement below. Throughout this chase, there are a variety of decisions you’ll have to make. Each of these will help to forge your path. Up or down, run or hide; the instantaneous decisions you will be forced to take will shape your journey. Any single decision or mistimed action in Until Dawn may not be fatal but your actions may put you on a potentially fatal path. Weigh each of the decisions carefully because remember in Until Dawn, when you’re dead, you’re dead… that character is lost forever and your story adapts and continues without them. This is the Butterfly Effect mechanic in action. We’re really excited to share with you for the very first time a new trailer. Following Sam through the chapter, we explore some of the choices you’re forced to make. Sit on the edge of your seat and get ready for a brand new trailer Watch this space for more news in the coming days as we have more to share with you. View the full article

It’s Vita Time! 3PP bringing more titles to PlayStation Vita Hey PlayStation Fans, Throughout 2014, the Third Party Production team has been working with our partners across the game industry to bring all kinds of exciting, diverse and fun titles to our favorite portable powerhouse. During the PlayStation Experience keynote in Las Vegas, we announced some terrific new titles for the Vita: the legendary classics Suikoden I & II, the single screen competitive chaos of Towerfall: Ascension, the gorgeous Tactical Strategy RPG The Banner Saga, the ludicrous suburban Octopus simulator Octodad: Dadliest Catch, the craziest time traveling shooter of all time, Super Time Force Ultra and the latest entry in the legendary shambling zombie franchise, Resident Evil Revelations 2. All this and that’s not even including all the other great Vita content we announced, like, Bastion, Darkest Dungeon, Severed, Shovel Knight and Broken Age: the Complete Adventure. Whether you’re into twitchy arcade action, deep strategy games with epic tales, or clumsy mollusks that have trouble with the most basic of tasks, there’s never been a better time to own a Vita. Check out more about the exciting games coming to my favorite video game machine Q1 2015 Super Time Force Ultra (PS4/Vita) Are side-scrolling platformer/shooters too difficult for you? Too bad because Capy Games’ Super Time Force Ultra isn’t going to hold your hand through its bite-sized but intense levels. Luckily, you can rewind time, bring back fallen characters, and add their previous runs to your current one for absurd extra firepower (or just a little help to get past timing-based obstacles). The just-announced Vita edition comes with bonus content like extra playable characters, including our very own Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment. Towerfall: Ascension (PS4/Vita) Perhaps shooting your friends in the head is more your style? In Towerfall, up to four players compete in arena-based combat, launching super-powered arrows at each other until only one (or one team) survives. It’s fast and addicting, and on the Vita! Along with Towerfall Ascension the new Dark World expansion content with new characters, levels, and power-ups will also be available for both Vita and PS4! The Banner Saga (PS4/Vita) The critically acclaimed strategy role-playing game is coming to the Vita. The Banner Saga features beautiful, hand-drawn art and animations; deep, tactical combat; and an epic story influenced by Viking legends that players can shape with their choices. Octodad: Dadliest Catch (PS4/Vita) Our eight-legged — and intentionally difficult to control — hero is back for the Vita, sloppily knocking over everything in his path as he attempts to complete normal, everyday tasks (like mowing the lawn or going grocery shopping). Octodad just wants to be a normal guy, after all, and live peacefully with his human wife and kids in this lighthearted and hilarious adventure. Broken Age (PS4) The Complete Adventure is a love letter to the classic adventure games of the 90s, written by the creator of some of those famous games, Tim Schafer. The tiny title that became a Kickstarter juggernaut features two characters in independent, parallel stories—Vella, a young woman destined to be sacrificed to a giant monster and Shay, a young man coddled and overprotected on a mysterious space ship. Both Vella and Shay attempt to change their fate, but doing so sends their respective stories on a crash course into each other. Resident Evil Revelations 2 (PS4/Vita) Famous series protagonist Claire Redfield returns (and goes portable) in the latest release in the Revelations Franchise! The Vita version is being produced and digitally published by Third Party Production Darkest Dungeon (PS4/Vita) Darkest Dungeon focuses on the humanity and psychological vulnerability of the heroes and asks: What emotional toll does a life of adventure take? It is a game about hard trade-offs, nearly certain demise, and heroic acts. Prepare to experience an RPG like nothing you have played before. Suikoden I & II (PS3/Vita) The legendary PS1 RPGs are finally coming out West as Suikoden I & II make their PS1 Classic debut on Vita (and PS3) this coming Tuesday, December 9th thanks to our good friends at Konami and countless #BuildingTheList requests! All of these titles will be released throughout the Spring of 2015. No Matter where you play and no matter what kind of games you love the Vita’s got something for everyone! What games would you like to see come to the Vita next? Add your games to the comments below or continue to tweet your suggestions to #BuildingTheList! Believe it or not, we’re always listening! Hey y’all! David Jaffe here, game director at The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency. Today’s a big, big day for all of us at our little game making and ghost hunting studio. As for the ghost hunting team, Bartlet and crew have made some big discoveries in the whole Al Capone opera house haunting. Keep an eye out for an update that should be hitting your favorite ghost hunting site soon (and perhaps major news sites as well if what Bartlet thinks they’ve found ends up being authenticated!) As for the game making part of the company, today is the day we’re finally able to reveal DRAWN TO DEATH, the game we’ve been making with the fantastic crew at Sony San Diego! And if I may, before I jump into details, I gotta say: MAN it feels great to be back with my Sony family!!! I remember sitting in Scott Rhode’s office 18 months ago, pitching him the game and trying to be cool and pro and not express my excitement when it started to become clear that Scott was going to give Drawn To Death the go ahead and that PlayStation 4 would be the home of the studio’s first ever game! What a day that was! And what a day today is. We are so pumped! Hopefully you’ve already clicked on the above video and are liking what you see. There’s lots more Drawn To Death info on the way in the coming weeks and months (y’all know how I love to gab about the stuff we make!), but for now, a few things: Drawn To Death will be an arena shooter like you’ve never played before. Part of the reason for this is our unique gameplay. And part of the reason is that the game takes place inside the notebook of a very creative teenage kid; it’s a violent and bizarre landscape filled with all of the weird, amazing, passionate, and exciting fantasies that are swimming around in the head of our teenage artist. We want Drawn To Death to play like the offspring of an old school arena shooter (with updated, modern sensibilities) and a hardcore brawler/fighting game. We want our signature launch mode – a 4 Player Free For All Deathmatch – to be action packed while also giving Players the need and ability to master advanced environment movement, learn and exploit enemy tells, and form clever strategies that pay off in big victories! Unveiling Drawn to Death at PSX is just the beginning of what we have in-store. The game itself will be in continual development and we’ll be very active on our forums and on social media, reaching out to the game’s fans in order to learn what you love about the game and to discuss the things you feel we need to work on in order to improve the title. Man, there’s just so much to share about the Drawn To Death! For now though, we’re diving back in: back in to the amazing PlayStation Experience and back in to the game development process. In the meantime, please head over to drawntodeath.com to sign up for the game’s early access. If you sign up during the PlayStation Experience weekend you’ll get a super rare, super limited in game mystery item. But hurry and do it soon- after this weekend that item goes away FOREVER!!! Ok y’all- nice chatting with you again- looking forward to sharing the game and the game making process with you all! Thanks! Hello PlayStation Blog! I’m Sean from Hello Games, and I’m having a bit of a crazy weekend here in Vegas! A year ago today we first revealed our game called No Man’s Sky. These twelve months have been life changing for all of us at our little studio. Your response to what we’re making has been inspiring, affirming, and only sometimes totally terrifying. But in the best way We’ve only shown the game off twice, once at VGX’s last year, and then again at E3. Since E3 we’ve been working incredibly hard, and I know some people were keen to see more of the game. No Man’s Sky is a science-fiction game, set in an infinite procedural universe. It’s a hard game to summarize sometimes, so I always want us to release direct gameplay, to just capture moments from the game, without lots of cuts. Yesterday at The Gaming Awards, we gave a glimpse of more gameplay. I’m also incredibly excited to announce that 65daysofstatic, probably my favorite band, is going to be writing a new album of music inspired by NMS. Their music has always provided the soundtrack to everything we’ve shown so far, and we’re going to collaborate to create a unique generative soundscape for the game. The universe you explore in No Man’s Sky is limitless… infinite. Today, at PlayStation Experience, we really wanted to show you what that scale looks like for the first time. Something that I hope will give you a sense of the extent of the galaxy, and your place in it. So here’s a new video, taken directly from a playthrough session: The music from that video is the first new track from the new album from 65daysofstatic. Hope you like it. If all that wasn’t enough, we’re holding something special tonight for fans. An event that everyone can experience with us. We’re calling it A Night Under No Man’s Sky. If you’re here at PlayStation Experience, you can come along to Sands Expo Hall A, or if you’re at home you can watch the stream on Twitch: http://www.twitch.com/playstation It’s been a lot to pull together for a very small indie team, but we’re having a lot of fun. We really hope you enjoy it too. Thanks so much! Today is a very special and exciting day for all of us at SEGA. Partnering with our friends at Sony Computer Entertainment America, we just revealed our plan to bring Yakuza 5 to the U.S. and Europe at PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. We also announced that Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls are available on PlayStation Network starting today. We’ve received so many requests from our fans to bring Yakuza 5 to the U.S. and Europe. Yakuza 5 also made the top of the list of Sony’s #BuidingTheList campaign led by Gio Corsi at Sony Computer Entertainment and we were moved by all the support given to Yakuza 5 by the PlayStation community. Yakuza 5 continues the epic story of Kazuma Kiryu alongside four other protagonists, following their struggles and conflicts in the seedy underbelly of Japan’s Yakuza underworld. Featuring a new graphics engine versus its predecessor, Yakuza 5 takes players to five major Japanese cities to venture through a life of crime and power. Yakuza 5 features more mini-games than previous titles, a modified battle system as well as enhanced customizations and interactions in the signature hostess bars of the series. In addition to these features, Yakuza 5 also introduces “Another Drama†which is a series of side stories that focus on each protagonist in-depth and are separate from the main story of the game. Allow me to also share messages from Toshihiro Nagoshi, the Executive Director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and the General Producer of the Yakuza series and Masayoshi Yokoyama, the Producer of Yakuza 5. Toshihiro Nagoshi (Executive Director and General Producer) “After receiving so many requests from fans of the series, we have decided to bring Yakuza 5 to the US and Europe. This title was enjoyed by over one million gamers in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing how Yakuza 5 will be received by the gamers in the U.S. and Europe. ” Masayoshi Yokoyama (Producer) “Yakuza 5 is the largest and most definitive version of the Yakuza series. The game is filled with depictions of the Japanese way of life, culture, trends, social issues and dreams. You will play as 5 different main characters with a range of different ages, genders and professions and experience their challenges through a variety of character focused, in-depth stories. I hope you can immerse yourself in our rendition of modern time Japan. ” Yakuza 5 will be available exclusive to PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in 2015. Please stay tuned for more information on Yakuza 5! The 20th anniversary of PlayStation has been a great opportunity to reminisce about a brand we’re passionate about at Mm, but it’s also a chance for us to look to the future and what we’ve got in store for it. At the moment, we’re most excited about bringing Tearaway Unfolded to a brand new audience on PS4 and have just finished work on our first hands-on demo being shown at PlayStation Experience right now! To mark this special occasion, we have a brand new trailer to share with you all! As you’ll see, Tearaway Unfolded brings an entirely new experience to the game, thanks to the unique features of the DualShock 4. From swiping the touch pad to unleash great gusts of wind into the world, to throwing items and creatures out of your TV and into your controller, you’ll be able to break the fourth wall and make your mark on the world, all while having fun with your messenger! We’d also like to take this moment to wish you all happy holidays! We’ve had a busy and awesome year here at Mm, and we’re only just getting started! 2015 is going to be pretty big for us, and we really can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. We think you’re going to like it Happy Holidays everyone, have a great time! It’s only a few more months until The Order: 1886 is released and the team here at Ready At Dawn is looking forward to having everyone finally play the game. Before that happens, we’re making a quick trip to Las Vegas this weekend to show another glimpse of the game at the PlayStation Experience before the game hits the streets on February 20th, 2015. In the past year, we’ve revealed our version of Victorian Era London and some of the protagonists in the game. We’ve shown you a range of different gameplay mechanics. We’ve showcased our technology, our physics system and the graphical quality of the game. We’re at PlayStation Experience to reveal a very different moment in the game than what you’ve seen previously; the chapter we’re showcasing is an infiltration mission inside the airship Agamemnon. Galahad, Perceval, Igraine and Lafayette are on a mission to stop a rebel assassination plot against a government leader. From the first moments—rappelling down the side of an airship with a grand vista of London around you—to an all-out gun battle in the ship’s kitchens, this chapter showcases the diversity of gameplay that we have talked about in the past. We’re not only thrilled to show this new part of The Order: 1886 at The Game Awards and the PlayStation Experience Keynote, but we’re also happy to announce that everyone coming here to Vegas will have a chance to get their hands on a brand new demo on the show floor, that not only includes what we’ve already shown but an extended gameplay portion of this chapter. We‘ll also be joining a few fellow developers for two PlayStation Experience panels: “Music Magic: How Your Favorite Game Soundtracks are Made†featuring Jason Graves and “Storytelling in Video Games†with Neil Druckmann, Tim Schafer and yours truly, amongst others. Looking forward to seeing you all on the show floor… All the news from PlayStation Experience Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End First Gameplay MLB 15 The Show Out 3/31 for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita Destiny Expansion I: First Look at the PS-Exclusive Mars Strike – The Undying Mind Tripwire Interactive bringing Killing Floor 2 to PS4 – The Time is Right! Our first project, The Unfinished Swan, was not a horror game. It was a surreal first-person painting game inspired by our love of classic children’s books. But when people saw our original prototype, of splattering an all-white landscape to reveal the world around you, lots of players assumed it was going to be a horror game. Which was weird because at Giant Sparrow we don’t really make horror games. We make strange experiences that give players a chance to explore things they’ve never seen before. The Unfinished Swan wasn’t meant to be scary but I think it ended up feeling that way for a lot of people because it was so unfamiliar. And there’s nothing scarier than the unknown. That brings us to our next game, What Remains of Edith Finch, which we’ve just announced. I think a lot of people are going to assume it’s a horror game too. This time around they’re a bit closer. What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of short stories about a cursed family in Washington State. Each story offers a chance to experience the life of a different family member with stories ranging from the early 1900s to the present day. The gameplay and tone of the stories are as different as the family members themselves. The only constant is that each story is played from a first-person perspective and each ends with that family member’s death. You’ll follow Edith Finch as she explores the history of her family and tries to figure out why she’s the last Finch left alive. It may sound like a horror game but it isn’t. And by that I mean it’s not a game that’s designed to scare people. Instead, we wanted to make something that feels like looking up at the night sky and being simultaneously amazed by the majesty of the universe and humbled by how fragile and short your own life is. Like The Unfinished Swan, it echoes what it feels like to be a child: encountering forces beyond your ability to understand or control. That can definitely feel scary, but it isn’t meant to. More than anything this game was inspired by growing up in Washington State and being surrounded by forests, mountains and oceans where nature often feels both beautiful and unsettling. What Remains of Edith Finch is being published by our friends at Sony Santa Monica and it’ll be available sometime in 2016, exclusively for PS4.
