it's the old saying "you can please some of the people some of the time.. but you can't ever please chili" ;D Multiple rosters... it could be worst we thought about having multiple Roosters.. Don't getcha panties in a bunch.. as far as I can tell there is only one clan that might be able to even field two teams and that's a stretch. So it's in all likely hood it's n/a anyway. On this: Rooster- along with opinions from myself, Tow and other staff members are simply responding to YOU the members and what the majority of YOU guys are asking for.. we are trying to provide. Since this is the first run at this, we are listening to the concerns voiced and opinion of you the members that this tournament is for. So those that voice an opinion are being heard. Consideration is being given, and hence should be returned in kind. The Xbox division was created due to a reflection of request from the membership. Unlike other tournament sites UF places it's members opinions and desires in high regard. You post we listen. When a decision is made that reflects the majority view, it is in bad taste to state disfavor towards the staff for simply addressing the concerns of UF's community membership.

I like CpDude's suggestion. I too had some issues with Playing video games vs. spending time with my Son. On more then one occasion I locked the Play Station away and forced myself to spend time with my son. I never regretted the time I spent with him one bit. In ever instance it was a far more rewarding experience then playing video games. Fast forward to the present... My son is now 13 years old.. and I'm soooooo happy because he plays COD4, RBVII and I will probably allow him to play Socom when the new one comes out.. I got him his own Xbox and I've been teaching him all my old dog tricks and tactics.. So my answer to my gaming addiction was to get my son addicted!! LMAO!! but it's all good we spend time together playing online and we spend time playing each other and we have fun together father and son playing video games. I also goat to all his track meets, all his football games and all his school band performances.. I take a lot of pride in being there for him. We both have been practicing the marital arts every Saturday for the last 10 years (he started at age 3) It's important to have something very stable and long lasting that you both do together on a regular basis. On a side note he's better than I am at video games.. it's sort of like watching my self play with him using some tactics I've came up with although his reflexes and aiming skills are far better then the "OLD man's" The other night we were doing a 1 vs 1 and "Da Kid" was ruling on the "Old man". I told him "Go to bed!!" dammit!! LOL! p.s. I still outrank him in the Martial arts.. and "da kid" can't take the Old man quite yet in a sparring match.. but I'm sure the day will come... :-[

Just don’t let it get really bad.. My neighbor was addicted to Oblivion. His wife had to call in the local swat team… I woke up one night at 2am to a horde of flashing lights and cop cars… Then a negotiator got on the bull horn and said.. “YOU in the house!! Put down the controller and walk slowly away from the Play station!†“I say again PUT down the controller and walk slowly away from the Play Station!!†A few moments of silence….. then I heard.. “LOOK OUT He’s got a GUN!†Bamm Bamm bam bam bam bam bam. Bammmm Bam. „“Hold your fire! It’s just a Socom head set†Followed by. „“Did we get Him?“ “No!! but we shot the schit out of that Play Station†“Well in that case problem solved.. write him a ticket for disturbing the peace and pack it up.. our work is done here.†p.s. On a serious note, when you take the time to write that a problem may exist then you have already admitted it does. you also probably already know what needs to be done. Take Tow's advice and try loaning the equipment to a friend for awhile. It really sounds like you simply need a break and a chance to concentrate on more important things in your life that are happening at the moment. If socom is a distraction then eliminate the distraction until you feel things are back in order.

I'd goat for it.. Late summer.. early august or so is best time for me.. Chicago is a blast and a good location since it's fairly close to middle of the country. Also Chicago flights aren't as expensive as Florida or California and New York. If we get going on this, It would be a good idea to get a hold of a local Hotel and make arrangements for discounted rooms at a group rate. Most all hotels will offer cut rates when a group rents a number of rooms. It would also be a way to get everyone staying at the same hotel.

Have you tried the Socom Addiction support group? Goat- "Hello my name is Goat and I'm a Socohalic." Group- "HI GOAT!" Goat- "I've been Socom free for three months." Group leader- "that's great! do you contribute your willpower to stop playing Socom is a result of having group support?" Goat- "No, it's more of a lack of time" Group leader- "That's great you're making time for other things besides Socom.. like family, and work correct?" Goat- "Well sort of... I still don't have much time for family and work.. I'm too busy playing COD4 and RBV2, oh and I can't wait for this GTA 4 game that's coming out.. but the good news is I think I beat my Socom addiction" Group- ??? :( :( :-\

LMAO!! Daymannnn!! I'm sorry Street but yeah that sig is Sick.. and I don't mean Sick in the good way. What the heck is that anyway? some sort of cross between "The Fly" and "Bat-Boy" ?? LOL I still play a lot of my Ps2 tiltles.. Hell I don't really trade games in, and with a horde of games on the shelf here I still play a few of them.. although the graphics for me at least are tough to deal with.. Games I once thought looked great now don't look that good compared with high res games. I copied all my game saves and made the Ps2 format things on the Ps3 but in the end, my opinion is Ps2 games play better on the Ps2. So on that rare occasion I put in Socom or any other Ps2 game for that matter, even though the Ps3 I have will play them, I believe they simply work better on the Ps2. So to sum it up yeah, at $366 I'd say that's a deal and I wouldn't give much thought to the non backwards compatibility thing just don't trade int your Ps2 and keep it for Ps2 games.

That's currently being discussed. Rooster will be making the announcement as soon as we come up with the plan. This was in response to the threads concerning the number of viable clans for the first offering. It is a temporary arrangement and when when have the numbers it will be back to Eight man teams. For now though having smaller teams should make this fun as heck. We will come up with a way to assure everyone that wants to play and can even if they are in a clan which has more than four available will be able to do so. Goat.

LMAO!! that's wasn't a goat.. ... you had me all excited for nothing.. but dayam that midget got fuk'd by that Bull.. literally... LOL

Oh and again, in case I overlooked clan 101 and forgot to mention CHURCH.. mad/luv from da Goat to CHURCH and clan 101. *not intended as a J/K post I sincerely mean it.. and apologize for overlooking your support.

p.s. the is the very first Goat post in here.. LOL sorry but I wanted to give some details as to the progress of the section to the entire membership and welcome any ideas or support from the community. That's a good point Chilli, yea if it came to the same clans A & B squads playing each other for the championship or something that wouldn't be very good. Besides now that I think about it, even if it's six for example normally you would like to have at least 8 if not 10 or so to be sure you have an adequate amount to field a squad for any given war. Basically I'm just concerned about the number of viable teams for the Xbox version of Crucible that either A) don't even know about UF or aren't interested or C) that even the established clans here do not have enough members that have a Xbox and are able to field a team for competition. Given that UF in the past has stated the desire to stay within the PS platform and this is a bold and hopeful move by the admins of UF to cross over into new territory. We aren't really expecting the doors to be blown open by a horde of X-clans giving UF a try. However at the same time I didn't expect a rather dismal response from Xbox users and a somewhat hesitate manner in regards to giving UF a try. There seems to be a lot of mis trust of unknown tournament sites in the X community. For a lot of Xbox sites even posting a notice of UF is looked at as advertisement or spamming, disregarding the fact that UF doesn't charge a fee nor do we promote any sales that garner profit. While attempting to post notices I always ask the administration of a particular site first. (It's the respectful thing to do). However, even after the attempts at explaining that our purpose is only to provide a cheat free environment to compete in very little sites have agreed to allow the post. I guess what I'm getting at is with Tow and Sniper finally agreeing to give X-box user's the courtesy of providing the same beneficial and rewarding experience of UF I'm rather frustrated with the difficulty of getting Xbox clans to give us a try. Myself and Rooster along with some great help from Chili and other well meaning representatives of UF are doing the best we can to get the word out. I've even enlisted the help of the rest of the Staff- Seq, Unc, Red as well as Neo and Smoke are pitching in as well. However we seem to be still far below the mark. I'm not going to plead to clans. UF doesn't need to beg anyone to try us. Our merit stands on its on. IMO if clans are unwilling to give us a try then it's their lost and not ours. That said however, I'm not above asking the membership to lend whatever hand they can in terms of helping UF to gain a foothold in the Xbox community. Even though for the most part the PS members give the Xbox users a bit of ribbing in terms of X vs PS, when it comes down to it the pride they have in being a UF member over shines the debate. I don't think anyone of them wouldn't also like to see the Xbox section succeed. Within our membership I am certain there are a number of members that may have friends, relatives and acquaintances that play on the Xbox. So far it has been just us in here along with the staff spreading the word. I thinking of asking the entire membership to put their differences aside and help get the ball rolling on this in any way they can. I believe Undertow is of the mind to just put up the application section and cross our fingers. I don't think postponing the application section is needed. Although how long to keep it open is in question as well as the issue of the size of the teams.

That's interesting, I looked more into this and (I hate to say this but Wiz is right) there does seem to be a lot more availability of *cash/prize tourney's for the box. MLG or course offers PS3 tourney's but both but the box as well as the PC offer many more. Of course that doesn't mean UF doesn't offer prizes. A new LCD tv is nothing to bark at. We did try this. The failure of Breakout (fee based cash prize) which initially showed a horde of interested died out for some reason? I also found that MLG has had a large success with four man Rainbow tourneys. I've always thought Rainbow would make a great addition here. But wasn't sure how it would work. With four man teams instead of eight there are several ways it works just fine. If we don't have enough large clans to do the first Cru-X. Doe s [>7<}, ILL or CDS have enough to field two or even three smaller man teams i.e. ILL-A, ILL-B etc... What are you guys thoughts on this?
-
Ok, this isn't official nor does posting on this thread commit you to anything.. I'm looking to see just how many possible clans are either ready or believe they might be able to field a team for Crucible-X at this point. So far it's been an uphill battle garnering new clan's to give UF a try. For the most part the Xbox community doesn't have any foreknowledge of UF due to having played Socom. Also unlike a lot of PS3 clans I'm finding clans for the Xbox don't seem to not be as organized? I would have thought the opposite was true giving how well the X-Box's Friends list and communication sections are done. At any rate, again this isn't official, if one member of a clan can simply give a "YO" we stand ready or we are close and believe we can field a team or if you are visitng due to reading a post about UF on another site and simply want to say "YO" we are interested. Then post up so I can know if we are ready to get underway or if we have to put things into overdrive on getting the word out. Thank you. Goat.

This whole poll is Gay.. Should fit right up Tow's alley. If you post just remember he "has a way of getting you in the back.. from behind... he's keeping a tail"e" on you." IF he bakes you a pie.. It's all OVER!! for you. ;D

Great report.. hell it’s darn near Goat Post length, but unlike mine that just rabble on and on.. you actually kept my attention. LOL Good stuff.. Welcome to the Goat post club. P.s. I wouldn't mind hearing others input on their first, or even if it's not the first, UF experience. No need to be wrote as eloquently as AJ's just some thoughts on how it went for you is all.

Agreed the new patch has at least finally made it so this game can be played. So far the co-op hunts and story mode is fairly good. However the versus modes. have yet to be tested to any degree. As usual time is being taken to give the game developers time to correct any issues with the game. Within the next month or so. I'm going to take some initiative and try out some scrimmages. Shoot me a pm in a couple weeks. CAGE Goat.

I think it's a great idea. I've noticed how little organized clans there are when it comes to the box. I'm just not sure if it's a matter of what it takes to be a clan for games like Socom opposed to Halo or other xBox titles. At any rate anything we can do to help we should consider doing. P.S CHURCH!!! thank you.. I keep forgetting to mention you and I don't mean to. So thanks for doing what you can to further the Xbox section here. That goes for the rest of you guys.. peace yo, Goat.

because for me and you it's all we really care about.. LOL. besides it gets boring just having a conversation between us two all the time over in the Boxhead section. LMAO! Hey chili go check the game invites thingy thread ovah der... will ya.

are you sure it was you it could have been "Uncle-Jay25, or NeoJay, or maybe SmokeOjay, or hell maybe even RedJay and JayRooster? .... but not JayGoat.. no way.... Jay. I see now .. the correction.. clan's recruiting=Okay, Lone gunner's=NoWay. from someone named Jay. OK?
-
Oh for crying out loud.. quit it guys.. The post here.. http://www.urgentfury.com/uf_forum/index.php?topic=5267.0 by Undertow (yeah the sticky right at the top of the page) sums up the process allowed for recruiting.. the thread is geared more towards shooters looking for clans but the reverse is true as well.. the network section serves both purposes those looking for a clan and clans looking for members.. As for the Socom rulz and all other games suk debate. That's an opinion and you are entitled to it. As for me I haven't abandoned Socom.. Socom abandoned me, by the extremely late release of their promised map packs and by failing (as of now) to release a new version for the next gen console.. why Zipper released Socom CA a month before the ps3 went on sale is beyond me.? Add to that the number of fathom disconnects and other issues.. (which with less people playing it, I'm sure has improved) . For me however I'm simply playing other games waiting for the next gen console release of Socom. Being a AV expert it's really hard for me to goat back to lower res and video quality games... that includes Socom, and that's basically the bottom line.. for me anyway.
