OBAMA OR MCCAIN WHO DO YOU CHOSE

Recommended Posts

You can cry socialist as much as you want. Truth is many facets of our society NOW are socialist. Social Security is... Medicare is... the 700 billion rescue plan McCain voted for is. So please with all the he's a socialist, marxist that's going to destroy america talk. LMAO! I know change is scary sometimes. But this has been a long time coming. It's time for my generation to take the reins and see what we can do.

I fix tractor trailers for a living. A crucial part of our economy. My job is secure no matter who gets elected because those trucks are going to roll no matter what. WalMart may buy all their stuff from China, but if their truck breaks down in my town they call me, because my job can't be outsourced. Is yours?

Just a little FYI for everyone, Obama will continue to reward companies that support American workers. He has already been a part of a bill in 2007 that rewards companies for just that. Companies would receive a tax credit for maintaining more workers in the U.S. than outside of the U.S., providing good benefits for American workers, supporting employees who serve in the military.

So please don't be led to believe that Obama is about outsourcing. His past record shows just the opposite and this very thing will be part of his economic policy as president.

I almost forgot to also mention that he has plans to end tax breaks for companies sending jobs overseas.

Aaaannnd, something else to think about ...

I don't know a whole lot about all this Ayers b.s. BUT, based on this thread and the McCain propoganda, I was under the impression that Obama's contact with Ayers was while or shortly thereafter the "Ayer's bombings" occurred. And then last week, I find out that Obama was in fact 8 years old when Ayers went on his little bombing spree. So, once again, I feel the need to point out a conveniently, never mentioned, fact which put all of that into a very different perspective!

When I heard that, it got me to thinking ... how many of us have "friends", "associates", "acquaintances" or however you characterize people with whom you have "hung out with" or "been a part of the same group" or whatever you want to call it, that aren't necessarily "good" people? Maybe people or a person who does things, believes in things, stands for things that you don't do, believe in, stand for? I know I have had people in my life like that. I've even had people in my life that I would call friends that do things that I find utterly deplorable, things that I personally would never do, yet I still call them friends. Does that make me what they are? No, it doesn't.

All that to say, when I apply the thinking that people are using to assassinate Obama's character and reputation to myself, I can't agree with that thinking because if I'm not guilty by association, why is he?

Just something to chew on ...

Radio interview Obama did in 2001.

If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court. I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed people, so that now I would have the right to vote. I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order as long as I could pay for it I’d be o.k. But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society.

To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that. …

I’m not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. You know, the institution just isn’t structured that way.

Just a few of the highlights. Hear ye hear ye, come now and allow government to be the parent you never had. You don't have to work hard to make a living, we will have ECONOMIC JUSTICE and will overtax the successful to be FAIR to those who aren't as successful.

Dude, you have it all wrong...Again! He was talking about "the civil rights movement, and the fairly commonplace observation (stated beginning with Martin Luther King) that the '60s movement succeeded in winning African-Americans 'legal rights', but stopped short of lifting them out of poverty."

This has nothing to do with his beliefs that restructuring and upbuilding starts from the Middle-class - upward, and not how it's been especially in the last 8 years...where the wealth is expected to 'trickle down', and has not! 'Redistribution of Wealth', is the idea of bringing the economy-building force (which resides in the middle-class and 'not' the wealthy!), "back" to the Middle-class, where all job force strengths reside.

I can't believe that you 'HogWild', would even fall for this latest attack from the Johnny Mac camp. :-[ And someone better get ahold of your 'girl'! Shes 'STIRRING THINGS UP', within her OWN GOP now! They're starting to jump ship, and shes gone 'rogue'! lmao

Don't try and use common sense in this thread CritiKil. LOL ;)

HippieChick... it is plain silly. I challenge one person here to produce a picture of Obama and Ayers "paling around". Just ONE! You can't, cause it never happened. Show me one picture of him "launching his political career" from Ayers living room. There would be pictures of that, no? Guilt by association is the oldest trick in political folly and didn't work for McCain. The only thing he really has left is trying to steal the election like Bush did. That still has me nervous somewhat. I think his lead is too much to do that even though. We'll see.

Why do you support McCain? (At a Palin Rally in Grand Junction, Colorado we ask people why they support John McCain. Pay attention, these people are voting for McCain, but they seem to be misinformed about alot of details...):

Provide a link? It was a lie. There was never yellow cake from Nigeria man. Never. It was made up, like all the other reasons we went in there. ;)

This is a lot of fun. Play around the the map. I just don't see any scenario where McCain pulls this off, even if he tries to steal a couple of states like he did in 2000... opps sorry that was McBush. LOL

I just ask for a link. Thank you for providing me it. The yellow cake still never came from Nigeria. That was proven a lie. The war in Iraq is still an unjust war. You can't get around that my friend. Keep your head down over there. Be safe. ;)

PLEASE JUST VOTE NO DISCUSSIONS .....(but it doesnt matter if you post ???)

this is just so i can see where the uf community stands...if yiou think i shouldnt have posted politics stuff then just vote and please dont bash me)

there is another topic somewhere else that you can post about the election.....

peace :)

It looks like YOU are bashing those who are voting of their own free choice. I don't think its fair the posts you've just made, because it is trying to sway the poll to some sort. Why can't you just allow people to make their own choices? And from the history books, nobody 'left' England...they were cast out on a boat that just 'happened' to hit a rock.

Another news station banned from talking to the Obama campaign because their questions weren't the softballs Obama and crew don't usually get.

Critikil, just one simple question:

When did it become the responsibility of the government to lift people out of poverty?

And one statement:

This assumption that all poor people are noble and being held down by the man is ridiculous. The man didn't hold Thurgood Marshall down. Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice, and Barack Obama don't seem to be held down either. All of these people got to where they are because of their own ambition and working to get to the places they have reached in their own lives. What about the crack head that smoking enough dope to make his skull explode, he deserves a handout? What about the woman on welfare squirting out kids rapid fire because you get more money for each kid while on welfare, she deserves a hand out? What about the person who's just lazy and is gaming the welfare system to just get by and get free health care just as long as he doesn't have to work for it, does he deserve a hand out?

There are people on welfare who are there for reasons beyond their control, they are using it as a hand up, and once they can stand on their own two feet will withdraw themselves off welfare. For those people, I am glad we have welfare.

Some people are poor because they choose to settle for it or they are too lazy to work their way out of it. There are more ways to improve your situation than I can possibly list. My last job before I started my career that led me to a more financial secure life was a night time janitor. There's nothing wrong with being a janitor, it's a honest living and it needs to be done, but I wanted a better wage for myself. So I went out and got better.

Equal pay for equal work is all the Economic Justice this country needs.

Palin didn't support him or disown him.

Palin just didn't comment when a reporter tried to trap into an answer on Steven's who's trial was on going. As an elected official, she didn't the correct and prudent thing not commenting on a trial in progress.

His trial is over, he has exercised his Constitutional rights, he's guilty, throw him in jail.

She has publicly supporting him going into the trial when ask. But w/e... I agree. Throw him in jail. A lot of irony there though. The 60 seats for the Dems is looking very likely now. ;)

FOCUS ON ONE ELECTION AT A TIME THERE, BUDDY.

sorry, had to. i like to keep REAL expectations in terms of elections. obama winning? very possible. mccain winning? pretty possible. 60 dems? eeehhhhh.

Uhhh... what are you guys talking about? LOL This is a blood bath for republicans this year. There is 20 seats in congress that are very likely to be lost and 6 in the senate that quite possible will be lost. I'm not predicting... just reporting what is very likely. Check it for yourself. ;)
