Article from Chicago Tribune, 06-15-08 - Some people use the internet simply to check email and look up phone numbers. Others are online all day, downloading big video and music files. For years they have paid the same price for Internet access, regardless of how much they consumed. But now three of the country's largest Internet service providers are threatening to clamp down on their most active subscribers by placing monthly limits on their online activity. One of them, Time Warner Cable, began a trial of "Internet metering" in one Texas city early this month, asking customers to select a monthly plan and pay surcharges when they exceed their bandwidth limit. That same week, Comcast said it would expand on a strategy it uses to manage Internet traffic: slowing down the connections of the heaviest users at peak times. AT&T also said Thursday that limits on heavy use were inevitable and that it was considering pricing based on data volume. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Aaaaaand discuss................

How many people made it? Was it roughly like 3-4 (I'm just going by the names listed in the pics)? And last question......did those same 3-4 have to stay in that ONE single 1/2 room of a cabin......because if you guys DID and had to sleep in the one, with or without the hooker, I want to see THOSE pics! LOL

To all UF players, It will be known from this point forward that, in a UF war involving a bomb plant situation, if the bomb team successfully plants the bomb during Sudden Death and they are all eliminated by the defending team within the Sudden Death time frame -AND- the defending team is also able to defuse the bomb before it detonates, regardless of what the CoD4 official score is, the defending team is awarded a point for THAT round. It has been discovered that, in private matches, a defending team may eliminate the team that planted the bomb and they successfully defuse the bomb within the Sudden Death time frame, but there ends up being a discrepancy in the scoring. The planting team will see "DRAW" while the defending team will see "VICTORY," but no points are awarded to the team that eliminated the other clan AND successfully defused the bomb in time. All clans in these types of wars ARE to count the round as a WIN for the team that successfully eliminates the other team AND defuses the bomb that they planted. Even if the score still stays at, say, 3-0, you are to award that team the "ghost point" and simply end the match at the TRUE score of 4-0. This is a notice to all players of UF. This new ruling will apply to ALL current and future CoD4 wars here in UF involving Sabotage matches. Please take this time to copy this post and inform your fellow clansmen on your private forums so everyone is aware. Thank you

Yeah, I sincerely apologize to our APC PoWs for this. Path just can't control himself. Screw the KY jelly......no need to be all politically correct here....just ship out a crate of this:
-
Nope you gotta sign up for a whole different ID. THAT is awesome news. ALMOST gives me hope that SOCOM: Confrontation will have its own as well.......as well as its own CLAN LIST separate from your PSN friends list. Hopefully....
-
Thanks for the compliment...and thanks for the info. I will go ahead and delete everything off accept the final file.

Hey everyone.... I just successfully completed and uploaded my first PS3 theme (for my own clan) and it's up on allps3themes.com My question is to those here who may have made some of these already......do I need to KEEP the files and folders for this theme on my computer? When themes are uploaded to a site such as the one above, are they KEPT at that site or is it like a Photobucket account where the file is there to download only as long as the file is still there on your computer? I only ask this because I don't know what it takes to make a SECOND theme. Do I need to download a completely new set of PS3-maker files for it.....use the ones I currently have (set to the original one I made)......so I have to keep all these files or if I delete them will the PS3 theme I created for allps3themes.com still BE there listed after I've deleted this file? Some clarification here would be awesome.

+30 fell in their final war trying to take a 101 property......and 101 said "NO!" These tourneys are tough and falling first is the same thing here at UF as falling last......you'll still fall to a talented and respectful clan. I'd like to thank +30 in their efforts to contribute to this tourney site as well as extend my hope that they had fun in Riot Act. You're one of the good clans here in Urgent Fury and we're always glad you guys are around. For those of +30 that are still hungry, we still have Black and Crucible sign-ups going on.....as well as details involving UF: RONIN soon to emerge. Stick around!
-
Yes and no......... And.....DID I say that?
-
YES. Anyone who wants to participate in UF: RONIN will be able to, given that they have already participated in previous UF tourneys, of course. That's a staple here in UF, as we all should know by now.

I'll have to retrieve the photo from Tara, and I will be seeing her on Sunday. So I'll give her a call. As for the audio....that's going to be a tall order, as I'm not too certain yet how to transfer digital minidisc recordings (I was mistaken earlier when I said it was on digital videocassette) recordings onto my computer. I'll ask around, and if I can find a way, then I will do so. If anything, I'll let ya hear it when you come in in August.

Amazon's got it on sale for $60. Not a bad steal.

No....but I've tried other things while my hand is asleep.......... ;D I'm sure when you ship out there may be a way and opportunity for you to check in with us here, Apoc. So when you do, you won't miss a beat......you'll even get to see who won your copy of SOCOM: Confrontation! LOL

I used to watch the MTV show....but that was just a bunch of scared teens not really handling their imaginations well. As to be expected. I really like Ghost Hunters. Little known secret about me......I LIKE doing that type of shit on some occasional free time I have with my two friends John and Tara. And yes, out of ALL the times we've gone to houses or cemeteries and even the famous Bachelor's Grove Cemetery in the south side of Chicago, which is literally dozens......we've gotten only two potential pieces of "proof" of the afterlife. Only two.....but to us, two DOOZIES. 1: When it got dark (too quickly I might add) when we were at Bachelor's Grove Cemetery at the pond there, I fired off the last 10 or so pics left on one of the cameras we were using. This one was a Polaroid camera. When we got home and looked at everything, one of the pictures had a smoking mass interwoven in the trees in front of me. None of the other pics had this, there was no mist near the water and it was not a visible smudging of the Polaroid pic itself. It's pretty cool looking. 2: When we were at Rosehill Cemetery here in Chicago, close to where I live, my friend John has an audio recording of him softly asking if anyone was present. Tara and I were standing next to him, not making a sound. We heard nothing. After these jaunts, we always go back to our place and listen to everything on speakers turned up REALLY loud. We were listening to the whole thing. Tara was listening intently, I was reading a Rolling Stone magazine and John was fucking around with one of the other cameras when we get to a segment where John asks "My name is John.....is there anyone there.....we just want to say hello." And then there's this 4-6 second pause.....and then there is this DEFINITIVE, whispered "helloooooooo" that lasts about 3 seconds. I say "definitive" because it is not the wind, it's not one of us fucking around and it's not someone off in the distance. It was just.............something else. I have that recording sitting at the very desk I'm typing this out at on a mini digital videocassette. This happened roughly three years ago. I do not listen to it alone as it freaks me out (though at the same time it's pretty exciting).

Good to see so many SOCOM players still. Hopefully we'll see many, of not all of you, in the upcoming July UF: RONIN along with the CoD4 players as well. This will be the first time UF will be running a tourney of the same name for both SOCOM and CoD4. And a shiny new SOCOM: Confrontation awaits those who are left standing!

LOL....I would have to say "no" on that one. Though if we ever run full-window poster ads in the future at Game Stops and Best Buys.....LOL....then we'll make him our poster child. In regards to the FORUM CLAN BANNER NETWORKING section we'll have up here for both the PS and the Xbox sections of the forum here, keep an eye out for these over THIS WEEKEND. When they go up, just reply to that thread with your submission and it will be added within 24 hours. To give you guys a HINT as to the format....... > In the effort for uniformity and presentation, please make your clan banner EXACTLY 500w x 100h in usable space. No "hightower sigs" here. Any variations on this will not be used. > Have your clan website handy. > And finally, have NO MORE than 5 sentences prepared giving info about your clan. This will be placed directly under your clan banner.

Puddy, how is it that you are always the man on the scene when I make some typos? I'm always careful about not having many.....been when I do, BAM, Puddy's there with the flashlight. LOL Thank you, I will change them all now. And yes, I meant JULY.

Well...... Urgent Fury is ready, once again, to kick some tires and light some fires on the UF community. There's going to be a lot of cool stuff heading your way come July, and we'd like to give you a small preview on what some of those things are going to be. Sniper and I have been talking for some time now in getting the main Urgent Fury website a little closer to the actual players who populate Urgent Fury's tournaments. In our time together, we've met and entertained some very cool people, great players, and just some all around clowns here on the UF forums. We'd like to put a little spotlight on some of those noteworthy UF community members. So, starting in June, we're going to be replacing the "CHALLENGE" tab found on the UF website with a new section called "DOSSIERS." The "Dossiers" section will feature TWO community members a month of Sniper's and my choosing to whom we will send a "information/interview" type of PM for them to answer. On the first of every month, we will feature both of those players from the UF community so that newcomers to the tournament see just who is populating our honor-driven tourney here. We're looking forward to incorporating player names and faces into our actual website here, as this was sort of spurred on by the "Urgent Fury Black" written in the sandy beaches of Mexico that was submitted by COU. We LIKED putting up stuff submitted by the community, and this will be a new addition that we think a lot of people can get excited about being a part of as well as simply reading about some of the players here that they've come to know and respect. Secondly, we're going to be EXTENDING the format of the "NETWORK" tab where we have a listing of UF clans and their URL links to their websites. The thing is, this is a handy quick reference for someone looking up a particular CLAN, but for someone here who is a lone gunner looking for the right clan for them, that simple URL doesn't tell them much about you. SO, here on the forum, stickied in both the PS and Xbox sections, there will be a thread continually updated by Urgent Fury that will feature a sized CLAN BANNER, URL and a short CLAN DESCRIPTION that players can easily reference here on the forum. This format, we believe, will help gunners see WHICH games these clans support and what platforms they play on, making clan-searching FAR easier on the inquisitive gunner looking for a home. This will be up shortly. Thirdly, the COMMAND section of the website will FINALLY get the face lift it deserves. You've all wanted it, you've all called for it.....so FINALLY the plaques of all the past winners of Urgent Fury main tourneys will be listed on this section, emblazoned forever in the archives of Urgent Fury. It will include a plaque made by Urgent Fury indicative of the tournament won and a brief paragraph written by the clan leader regarding their win and what it took to get themselves there. And we will keep them up there forever. The COMMAND section will be finished by June. Fourthly, the "BLOG" section of the Urgent Fury tournament, a feature of the website that has gone on largely ignored by UF, being as busy as we are, WILL be utilized on a bi-weekly basis, and that's a hard-schedule there, with blogs written by both Sniper and I. We'll be utilizing it mainly for UF-focused material, with such segments and what goes into creating a TACMAP tourney for UF....some behind-the-scenes stuff in the prep process of UF....and maybe some cooking tips. Who knows. What we DO know is that the Blog itself will breathe life and get its heart beating again, and we'll make sure it's chock full of good, interesting topics twice a month. Fifthly (I do not think I have EVER written the word "fifthly" in my life.....you're all here for the first), many of you have asked about the whereabouts of both Commander Fury and The U-Freq podcast. Nothing gravely wrong is happening here....simply put.....Commander Fury "got a flat tire." Essentially, there has been some technical difficulties with the production equipment used and the solution is on its way. We COULD have continued to broadcast a new podcast every week, but the quality would have suffered immensely, and well, you all know what we think of "quality" here at UF. It's either top-notch or it's not considered at all. Both UF and Cmdr. Fury agreed that a suspension of the show would be best, lest the listeners who have come to expect a certain level of production from U-Freq would start to question our production ethics. Cmdr. Fury is alive. U-Freq is alive. UF wants it back bad. All will be made well again soon. We just need to order another flat skid of duct tape and we'll be good to go. NOW..... Finally, and this....this is the badass part of it all. FINALLY, Sniper and I have decided to give away copies of the upcoming SOCOM: CONFRONTATION to lone members of this UF Community. For CERTAIN, we'll be delivering two copies to the doors of two lucky and skilled members of Urgent Fury. MORE could follow. HOW we give these away? Well, you all know me by now....SOME things need to be kept in the dark to whet the appetite, right? LOL And what better topic in this post than THIS one to keep you guessin'. All will be revealed in June. EARLY June. But....I will leave you with this. Here at Urgent Fury, we expect you to earn what you get. You EARN the respect you're looking for as a gunner and as a clan. You EARN the dignity by way of your conduct through both wins and losses. You EARN your right to swathe your way through the illustrious TACMAP tourneys of UF, our biggest production. And now you will EARN your copy of SOCOM: CONFRONTATION, pre-ordered and shipped directly to your door. And you will do this through...................URGENT FURY: RONIN And that's ALL I'll leave you with at this point. Players of BOTH CoD4 -and- SOCOM: Combined Assault will have opportunities for this prize. How you do it...and how we do it....will be revealed in JUNE. Aaaaaand my fingers have fallen off. Thanks for reading, hope you got through it all. Look for all these changes to the UF community to hit as we project them to. We won't be missing these time tables. We look forward to seeing you on the battlefield. For Sniper and the UF Staff, - TOW

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Out Tomorrow! (6-12-08)
TOW-19 replied to SNIPER's topic in Playstation
THAT is what I'm talking about. Thanks to GTA4, I will never be burned by online pre-hype over a video game again. And I say that in the most thankful manner. See before you rent, rent before you buy, read reviews before you commit and then finally sell it to those who had to wait a few days for payday to buy it if it was a dud for me. ^^^^^ New video game motto. -
