"The world is full of con artistsâ€. Some of them will claim that you have viruses and spyware. Don't believe them; Never click their ads. Not all pop-ups are scams, but many of them are. Whether it is a scam or not, pop-ups are a rather obnoxious advertising technique. Its a sad attempt to sell you something you really didn't want. From what I’ve found out on “bestantivius9†or “live-virus scanner3†and a horde of other names for the same crapola. Unfortunately its an attack at the ads source and not necessarily on UF. It appears that the ad company isn’t censoring their advertisers effectively. Many ad companies are responding by disabling pop-up ad functions indefinitely. This particular ad closes the main browser window (at least it did to my firefox session) and opens a mini-window designed to look like a system tray alert. Clicking anywhere on the window opens a new browser session to the ad's site. I am nearly 100% certain it was winspyware.com (a company known to engage in this sorts of scams). Closing the session by the task manager and then running spybot found the tracking cookies and deleted them. I usually disallow track cookies from my system entirely and had to set it to accept to test this. There wasn’t any real virus found and obviously it’s a high jacking of the pop-up function by use of scripts and tracking cookies. Again it seems to be coming from the advertisement company and it is them that are being attacked. I would ask them that all pop ups be disabled until they can permanently fix this. I’m 100% behind the need to generate some revenue by use of advertisement. IMO they aren’t that obnoxious if they are done correctly. I know you’re doing what you can Shane and I trust you totally since I know you’re just as P.O’d about things like this as the community is but the current company in use so far gets a failing grade from me.

I always liked the break.. hated when a new player joins a game and immediately starts screaming for green-ups.. For the one's that just played thirty or so minutes straight its time to refill a drink or grab a cola or a cold one.. use the bathroom or hell make a sandwich or eat a banana.. (eyes Cpdude) Usually someone says we're waiting on a friend to join or "hey we're going to start up in five or so" and lets any new folks know to just wait a minute or two.. but basically you can see when the majority of the room is ready so there isn't any need to say "green-up" unless you're being held up by just one or two players.. when the whole lobby hasn't checked (greened) yet though its sort of idiotic to green up first and start exclaiming everyone else should now because *you're ready.

I'm with Tool.. I love dem Hooters wings. and the scenery isn't bad either. But a recent find is KFC.. now usually I don't like KFC, I'm more the popeye's spicy chicken sort of guy. Sure I'll eat it in a pinch but KFC is not my favorite fried chicken joint by a long shot. However they deep fry their Hot wings in a whole other batter. You can't order like the leg and wing combo it has to be the 6 or 12 pack of hot wings. (Don't ask me why?) and if they say they don't have any right now.. tell them you will wait for them to cook some more. So that's KFC hot wings only 6 or 12 pack. No sauce the "just now cooked" the better. Trust me on this one.

I have a clan mate that tried the splifish controller.. but as I understand it that's to get a PC feel on a console.. I don't mind using the keyboard mouse for PC games but I like using the console controller for the console so I don't think a splitfish controller would do much for me. The games you mentioned Age of Empires especially (one that I have played on the PC) are more of the games most PC game users play. So I guess you answered my question.. shooters it seems are still better left for consoles. For now anyway. Thanks for your thoughts on my question amigo. appreciations.

I’ll admit it I’ve been thinking along the same lines lately.. I’m sure like many of us I started out on PC games.. Tomb raider, Rainbow Six, Nascar, hell even Deer Hunter.. LOL but with the Ps2 I began the switch and with the 360 and ps3 I haven’t played games on the PC in quite a while.. however, A recent Pc build for a customer has me re-thinking the console.. the Pc I just built and installed had two 1 teragig hard drives, has 16 meg of ram, has a HDMI video card, Bluetooth wireless keyboard and track ball mouse and is just the schitnizle. All in an HDPC case that fits snugly on a stereo rack. So as usual I figured why build one when I can build two for twice the price…. I hooked up the other one (my new PC) last week. The boy got bioshock for the PC for xmas last year but his PC didn’t have the ram to run it. Mine does so I loaded it up and I hooked it up to my Plasma via the HDMI.. sat back on the couch with the wireless keyboard. And was amazed.. graphics were outstanding.. no snags.. no over heating no freeze ups, now bioshock isn’t quite a game I’m all that interesting in… so I’ve been thinking “I need a shooter†to put this thing through a real test.. what game are you playing? I’ve been an advid fan of consoles but I’m starting to re-thing that and the PC is making a comeback as far as the choice for online gaming. I’m not about to waste half my life with a MMORPG like WOW.. but using the PC for a good shooter game is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. Is it like Nika says and there really isn't a good fit for shooters on the PC. or is there one that fits the bill and if so which one is it? I'd be willing to try it out if others here have a game in mind.

Is it addiction or addition.. ? I'm thinking if its addition then hell yea I have lots of gaming additions.. I practically get every add-on I can for every game I like.. and I like lots of them.. Oh wait I think it might be Addiction.. ? In that case no.. I'm not addicted .. nope not me.. I can live without it.. really I can.. really.. HELL where's my dayam controller!! BOY! did you take my controller.. you better bring it back RIGHT NOW! whew there it is right where I left it.. glad that's over.. now where was I? oh yeah... addicted? NO way man!

Sounds like the old router did indeed fry or something.. oh well it was worth a shot and like you said it wasn't that much to grab a new one. I would have went with linksys as well though.. I've never used their customer support though.. IMO the WRT54G is still the best router ever made. but that's because its one of the few offered that had firmware that was open source. Using a 54G with the right third party firmware turns that router into a beast. It's the reason they go for good bucks on ebay. Linksys has since not gone open source firmware for their newest routers.. too bad .. I think they slipped up once and then backed tracked on any open source firmware idea. Anyway for info only.. if you come across that particular router at a garage sale or something its worth picking it up. http://www.hanselman.com/blog/MoreOnAlternateLinksysFirmware.aspx if you have one then DD-WRT firmware improves it dramatically.

Game stop announced a price drop on the pre-order of Rogue Warrior. http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=rogue%20warrior its just a $10 drop but it brings it in-line with the general $50 price tag. its still scheduled to ship for October 1st.. which is 55 days away.

Yeah good post DJ. If you hook your pc right to the router only after the wait period.. open explorer and type 192.168.1.1 to see a linksys router's setup. 192.168.0.1 for a D-Link then you go Modem power up first.. then router power up hooked to modem then the PC.

Hey leave my sheep alone! I remember studying about Indians in pre-school. The teacher said "Today we're going to learn how to sit like Native Americans' So I got drunk and laid down in the middle of the road.. ba da bing.. On a serious note.. My best friend is a Native America Sioux here in MN.. now I have a nice big home in a rather prestigious neighborhood and his house makes mine look like a shack in the woods. I got mad/luv for the guy though. When a Sioux is your friend.. you are friends with his entire family.. he always goes out his way to invite not only me but my wife and kids to anything they are doing. You have a lot of friends in a life time but very few you can call best friends.. I'm proud to call him my best friend and he never ceases to amaze me with how much honor he has.
